Condoleeza Rice says that it "kind of doesn't ring true that you have to shock me into something I was very involved in." In Shannon, Ireland today she denied being told by George Tenet and Cofer Black on July 10, 2002, that they were very very worried about al-Qaida's determination to strike inside the U.S.

Bob Woodward is saying there is more to come out on these issues besides what's in his book, State of Denial.

Aside from Condi's extreme duh quality of what must have been quite a hastily called meeting between the three, she remains determined to strike a note of support for her man, George Bush.

There were many warnings reaching her from various sources--how many should it have taken before her bubble was pierced with understanding? Or did she/they--as conspiracy theorists believe--welcome the strike to justify their own war intentions?

Looking at the transits for July 10, 2001, it's interesting to see that the Sun was conjunct Rice's natal Moon 18 Cancer--Cancer, sign fof the mother and concerned with nourishment and security. Security. Her reigning need (Moon) is for Security, and the Sun was highlighting these issues for Condi that day. But it seems her mind was on chickens or something...

"18 Cancer": "A hen scratching the ground to find nourishment for her progeny."

Keyword: FULFILLING LIFE'S RESPONSIBILITIES (oops--kind of doesn't ring true that she was "very involved")...

Keynote: the practical concern with everyday nourishment necessary to sustain one's outreaching activities (guess her concern was with was HER activities, not bin Laden's.)

Seems to me that Rice has always been employed above her capacities or that at the least her loyalty to Bush is a blindspot to any and all common sense. The threat was so..."nebulous," she says. Naughty Nebulous Neptune, planet of veils, illusions, and deceptions...of propaganda and confusion.

UPDATE Tuesday 6:30 pm: Despite Pressure, Hastert Won't Resign because Bush is standing by yet another of his men and it's having an effect.

Apparently more of an effect than Foley's Instant Messages pining for goodnight kisses from boys, and invitations to under-age teens to come to his Capitol Hill townhouse "for a few drinks."

Lawyers are saying now that Foley was molested when he was younger. Yeah, that gets passed on, doesn't it?

In a letter, the Christian Coalition is "standing behind" Hastert, Bush is standing by him, and as Jon Stewart might call it, there are "reach arounds" enough for all.

Such is Washington. #

Ten months after the Republican leadership was apprised of Foley's tendencies, it hits the news. Is this a reverse-October Surprise to take heat off other issues and to try to manage this hot-potato scandal?

Well, Hastert and pals have been sitting on it for months--not that they haven't been dreamily wishing it could be kept quiet (guess Karl said, no)...and the safety of interns and pages be dam-ed in the meantime.

Today Hastert announced a "hotline" (unfortunate choice of word?) for pages (and interns?) to call in their own problems with Capitol Hill predators--I'm assuming they mean to out ANY DC politician who's got pedophilic leanings. Hope that doesn't result in a DELUGE (a Neptunian word) of calls and complaints.

At least when Lewinsky went to Washington, it was with the express purpose of attaching herself to Bill Clinton--which pales, imho, to this unearthing of perversions. Brings a similar scandal to mind which was better managed during Bush Sr's White house tenure, doesn't it?
