In May 2006, an interesting astrological synchronicity occurred involving the natal chart of Founding Father Thomas Paine...Sun to Chiron and Chiron to Sun simultaneously!
Paine's birthday was Tuesday, Jan 29, and Cheney's Wed Jan 30, giving them both Aquarian Suns, both working for the collective but with opposite results, some would say. One helped build America and supported the Constitution's ideals, and the other is the one we've come to know and fear as he helps undermine both.
Michael Rectenwald has written a birthday remembrance of Paine which contrasts words like freedom and democracy when issuing out of the gob of the likes of George Bush from whose tongue they slithered during his final SOTU address this Monday eve.
But does he know their meanings? Perhaps I should better question the intent of his speech writers and those who drive neocon policy with Bush as colleague and mouthpiece slurring and grimacing his way through his final SOTU.
Thomas Paine had an enlightened view on war and taxes still worth considering. And it's the kind of concept stood on its head that our current Washington infestation doesn't want us to ever take to heart--and least of all--to act on.
