baby by by: Hillary bows to superior mojo

Hillary backs out at noon June 7 is a Page I've set up with astrological notes on Hillary Clinton's failure to capture the collective imagination enough to be the next globalist New Millennialist shill.

Now you'll find a smidge of Obama Astrology in the article yet with no direct mention of that skewed view of the New Millennium (on their side or ours)--but you know I'm thinkin' it.

Sheesh! hearing her noon rally's audience's cheers makes me miss living in DC!

The article is mainly concerned with today's transit of restrictive Saturn and Neptune's eventual conjunction with her n MC, so I hope you'll get some kind of info out of it, but first...

you must click!

May 26: Mercury Rx's effects on Clinton's campaign

Perhaps you'd be interested in reading a Page published today concerning the current Mercury Rx 21Gem23 and its place within and effects upon Hillary Clinton's horoscope and candidacy over at Jude's Threshold.

The Celtic horse goddess Macha may be involved from the constellation Auriga, the Charioteer, along with the senator's 12th house of secrets!

fretting over McCain's Moon/Pluto opposition?

So am I.

Which is why I got my busy on, did some chart investigation, and published a few plutonic details on the potentials of a McCain presidency with an uh oh on my lips and a "not again" in my heart.

Your own insightful comments on the subject would be much appreciated either here or on Jude's Threshold, linked above.

John Abyss McCain is howling outside America's door...what will you do, if anything, to turn him and his raging Moon away?

Were John and Vicki sittin' in a tree ?

Breaking: McCain linked romantically to lobbyist during first presidential run: NYT 21 Feb 2008:

Early in Senator John McCain’s first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers. A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, in his offices and aboard a client’s corporate jet.

Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself-- instructing staff members to block the woman's access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.

When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyist's clients, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement. Mr. McCain, 71, and lobbyist Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship.

LegitGov Breaking News#

McCain says "it just isn't true." Well, I for one believe him. Maybe. And it's his showing legislative favoratism to her clients that's the greater story. Are her motives revealed?

Yet McCain's natal Mars (desire nature) is in Leo, sign of Romance and this placement is arrogant and conceited--which I assume accounts in large part for his being described as a narcissist. A passionate Leonine Mars has a great need to be appreciated a lover.

Now I don't know Vicki Iseman but one must imagine that she had romantic options other than John McCain--but perhaps his mojo mystique eludes me. The scent of power is THE aphrodesiac, they say...and the aroma of the money that comes with it. (If this wasn't the case for you, Vicki Iseman, all apologies!)

Now it's 2008, and Saturn is conjunct his natal Sun 6Vir02, a restrictive and inhibiting period when past (Saturn) mistakes may come to light...McCain's past is clamoring for attention.

And Saturn will be conjuncting natal Neptune 16Vir07--not such a good portent for leading the country for he will have difficulty comprehending the reality of situations, esp regarding money matters--shades of the current denizen.

(After that, it'll be Saturn conj US n Neptune, exact by the end of 2009, which is a time of disillusionment, no matter who inhabits the White House.)

Plus, last evening's Lunar Eclipse on the Vir/Pis-victim/savior axis occurred near enough to his Sun to cause an eclipse of ego recognition. Then there's the fact that the tr SN, a Saturnian and separative point which reeks of the past, has now moseyed just beyond McCain's natal Sun (ego; adult personality; life purpose), so it looks like troubles are upon him en masse.

In politics, that system of organized hatreds, it's the appearance of naughtiness which makes or breaks a politician and things are seldom how they seem. McCain was broken in SC in the 2000 campaign by the "black baby" illusion a la Bush-Rove, so is this romantic indiscretion of that same ilk or was it true dalliance?

In politics it doesn't really matter as long as the damage is done.

Anyway, the fix seems to be in for Barack Obama so all McCain's trials may be moot come January 2009.

Obama's Jupiter Return on or about Jan 9, 2009--conj the Inaugural Sun-Mercury conjunction 00AQ+ AND his natal Saturn in Cap conj Inaugural Mc (I KNOW!!!)--may be enough to gain him the scepter but he'll be under the sway of forces which will mercilessly use him as a tool for their purposes. He may not know this now and will discover it as he moves into the Oval Office.

And that's just the kind of president the powers-behind want!

Hillary is, however, playing for keeps and has waited years for the opportunity to take over the White House. It simply remains to be seen who the powers-behind want for their next shill.

Image: White Collar Affair, drawing by jude cowell from cosmic persona designs--hopefully my posting this illustration of a romantic triangle is the naughtiest thing I'll perpetrate all day! Use by express permission only.

Heads Up: John McCain's natal chart has been published with article in progress at Jude's Threshold if you're interested.

Martial Law: before November?

News Updates from Citizens For Legitimate Government Feb 8, 2008

All items are here:LegitGov Breaking News

'They have permission to 'shoot to kill' in the event of martial law.' The FBI Deputizes Business By Matthew Rothschild Feb 7, 2008:

Today, more than 23,000 representatives of private industry are working quietly with the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security. The members of this rapidly growing group, called InfraGard, receive secret warnings of terrorist threats before the public does--and, at least on one occasion, before elected officials... One business executive, who showed me his InfraGard card, told me they have permission to "shoot to kill" in the event of martial law... This business owner says he attended a small InfraGard meeting where agents of the FBI and Homeland Security discussed in astonishing detail what InfraGard members may be called upon to do...

"Then they said when--not if--martial law is declared, it was our responsibility to protect our portion of the infrastructure, and if we had to use deadly force to protect it, we couldn’t be prosecuted," he says.#

Jude's Threshold now has a Page with the chart of the Aug 1, 2008 Solar Eclipse (10 South Series) which I will be updating with more details as time permits.

You'll see in the chart that on August 1 this Eclipse is RISING in Washington DC at 6:12:30 am edt. And boy is it. Plus, this is the Pre-natal Eclipse of the November elections so we'll want to keep our eyes on it.

Losing Religion in favor of Politics?

If so, you may want to reconsider mixing spirtual with political before the IRS gets onto ya and takes your church's tax exempt status away.

Read my post at Jude's Treshold on Election Year: Politics in the Pulpit for a list of some of the prohibitions on 'voter guides', political endorsements, etc, and there's a more info link provided, plus some 'wedge issue' views of my own which may ruffle feathers here or there, I don't know.

Moon, out-of-bounds Mars, and Nevada

SpaceWeather News for Jan. 19, 2008:

MOON & MARS: When the sun sets tonight, go outside and look east. The Moon and Mars are having a beautiful close encounter all weekend long. The best night to look is Saturday when the distance between the pair shrinks to less than 2 degrees. Campfire-red Mars so close to the silvery Moon is a sight wonderful to behold.

Visit SpaceWeather.com for sky maps and photos.

BLUE MOON ALERT: This is an alert for Central and South Americans. The ongoing eruption of the Galeras volcano in southwestern Columbia is spewing fine ash miles high into the atmosphere. Airborne volcanic ash can act as a color-filter, turning moonlight blue. Although it is often said that Blue Moons are mythical, they can appear during volcanic eruptions, so this is a good time to look for a bright "Blue Moon" over your part of the world.#

UPDATE 2:20 pm EST: Romney wins a "quiet" caucus in Nevada and McCain and Huckabee tussling in SC...Romney says Rs voted for "change." Yeah?

Original post:

By tonight's hook-up of Moon with an out-of-bounds Mars in Gemini, sign of communications, speechmaking, travel, and young people, we will be chewing over the presidential candidates' fortunes and outcomes.

Taking a peek at this morning's charts for Las Vegas--9:00 am PST for the Republican shendigs to get underway, and 11:00 am for the Democrats--we see two midpoint pictures with Sun (leadership) as focal point...

Jupiter/Neptune = Sun: potentially misguided states; following a dream; trying to capture the essence of things; speculation; irresponsibility; deceiving or being deceived. (A foundation for the current political smokescreens: Saturn and Neptune continue their Quindecile Dance (165 degr) = deception within societal leadership.)

The R's 9:00 am PST chart has 11Pis36 as ASC with Uranus 16Piso4 (conj Pallas: strategy) rising which makes Jupiter as ruler of Pisces (and Neptune as the higher octave) point to the Rs as the primary inheritors of this midpt picture, imho.

The 9 am chart also has a T-square pattern with Moon/MC = Uranus: emotional excitability; upsets bwo females; motherhood; anxiety; threat of vocational instability.

Asteroid, Niobe (the grieving mother) is conjunct North Node (the public) in both charts, with NN nearing conjunction with US natal Moon, the People. (Is Cindy Sheehan in the house? I confess I'm posting this without looking at today's news--off the astrologer's cuff, you might say.)

And for the Ds at 11:00 am PST: ASC 28Ari35, ruled by the oobs Mars, with asteroid, Aesculapia (health) rising; the Sun is being triggered by the "powerful connections/wish to influence the masses" combo of Pluto/NN...

Pluto/NN = Sun: ruthlessness; the urge to impose one's will on others.

Is America's natal unaspected Pluto (always conj MC in each Inaugural chart since FDR's time--the powers-behind-the-throne, aka secret societies) setting up a Democrat to be "president"--aka their mouthpiece? This is my suspicion, and time, as always, will tell.

And in both charts and hence for the day is:

Venus/Jupiter = Pluto: enjoying an unusually large measure of popularity; ability to gain favor with the masses; publiicty; the world view; unbounded enthusiam. (Sounds like a good day for politicians--if there is such a thing.)

Perhaps of greater interest in the 9 am and 11 am charts for today are the midpoint pictures which differ between them.

First the Rs:

Sun/ASC = Neptune: high sensitivity about others' opinions; being duped or disregarded; disappointment; anger or upset; damage or calumny through others.

Pluto/MC = Venus: strong powers of attraction; emotional charisma; appearing sexy.

For the Ds at 11:00 am:

Uranus/MC = Mercury: nervous excitability in expectation of change; speaking with excitement; new ideas; excited discussion among people.

The last planetary picture fairly whispers of Barack Obama, yet we can't count out Hillary for her years of hanging about and toeing the world view's "free trade" line.

Last evening on Tavis Smiley's program, I heard former White House speechwriter David Frum say that Mike Huckabee "needles" the economic wing of the GOP with his attitiude and bad ideas. Guess that leaves John McCain who seems to be more aligned with the party than in 2000, with Mitt and Fred on hand just in case.

John Edwards has been sidelined--he talks against the establishment far too much for their NWO liking--and The People, who should be in favor of his ideas for more and better jobs, etc, don't seem to be interested in voting for their own best interests.

Go figure, America. Duped again?

(All midpoint pics from Tyl and Ebertin. No planets were harmed in the writing of this post.)

soothing and invigorating poetry?

Do you think it's possible for a poem concerning America and her politics to be soothing AND invigorating simultaneously?

I do, now that I've read American-in-Paris Tara Bradford's poem, Over the Horizon which I present to you for your consideration at Paris Parfait.

Do Enjoy!

And thanks, Tara, for your wonderfully graceful blog...graceful in spite of French bureaucracy!

Benjamin Franklin's Solar Return 2008

Born of a humble family in Boston, MA on Jan 17, 1709 (exact time unverified--using *10:30 am LMT as shown at astrodatabank.com --other possible birth times listed at end of post) Ben Franklin's Solar Return for 2008 falls on Jan 17.

This 15th child of 17 apprenticed to a printer when he was 12, and began his own printing company, age 17. The 10:30 am natal chart has shown links from the Solar Arc Directions for today which is one of the methods I use for deciding which chart to work with when an historical person's birth time is in question...simple synchronicity (as if there is such a thing!)

Fame and success attended Mr. Franklin whose Pre-Natal Eclipse Series, 14South, brings just that--success when an obsessive idea is finally accepted, then Jupiter brings along the promised success. His Jupiter, whose natural house is the 9th house of Publishing, Philosophy, and Religion, is happily placed in business-oriented Cancer, although Rx--which gave Franklin something of a maverick flavor.

ASC 7Ari14, sign of the pioneer, gives active Mars as chart-ruler, and Franklin is known to have been robustly healthy as a youth. Neptune, which he would not have been aware of in his lifetime, is in 1st house, indicating some confusion and early loss, and a talent for role-playing and deception--useful traits for an ambassador and politician to possess.

In the Placidus house system Saturn is barely in 1st house which gives stability to the personality, plus, early hardship and work (apprenticed at 12 years old)--Saturn rules 10th house 3Cap44, with pleasant Venus in Capricorn at MC (arts; literature.)

Mars applies to sesquiquadrate with Uranus (1A31) but approaches an even closer trine to Pluto (0A16.) The Mars/Chiron combo = the sacred warrior archetype, and there is a separating trine with creative Neptune...good for public relations and promotions...and for secretive pursuits such as Freemasonry meetings and rituals.

In her book, New Insights in Astrology, Nona Gwynn Press gives the sequiqradrant (135 degr) as having transformative power.

You will recall his rather funky promo for his Almanac where he published an "astrological prediction of death" for one **Titus Leeds, a rival almanac publisher. This ruse, a preface in the 1st edition of Poor Richard's, was carried on for years and gained Franklin much notoriety while promoting sales. Leeds did not cooperate and die at the appointed time yet Franklin insisted each year that Leeds was dead and that others had assumed publication of his almanac.

One assumes this farce aided almanac sales for Mr. Leeds as well, and I suspect they held in common brotherhood in a certain organization.

(BTW: I've gotten to where I only change house systems with historical charts when there's a known chart to duplicate--usually with Regiomantanus, or whatever was originally used at the time. Here I stick with Placidus. In this case, Venus is near enough to MC to be possibly placed in 9th house of Publishing.)

Jupiter in 4th house has associations with publishing success so the 10:30 am chart 'works' for his fortune being made in Publishing--he began Poor Richard's Almanac in 1733 and retired, age 42, in order to devote himself to Science until Politics 'called' him in appr 1753. Quite a whistle heard round the world--with America the decided winner.

However, if you look at the chart for 1:30 am, Jupiter and Uranus are placed in 9th house while Pluto (linked with the masses and with Publishing) falls in 10th house of Career and Public Standing. Yet this birth time puts n Moon in AQ--29AQ52, 4th house. Was Franklin's Sun in Cap with Moon in the humanitarian and scientific (and astrological) sign of the Water Bearer? Or is Moon in mystical Pisces as is so often said?

The chances during the 24 hours of his day of birth do favor the Pisces Moon, but just in case, here are the Images for Integration for both combos...

Sun Cap-Moon AQ: A prophetic poet is awarded high honors...An historian points the way to the future...Having struggled unaided to the peak, a mountaineer hitches a ride on a passing helicopter.

Worldy ambition and success mixed with furturistic, scientific concerns. See what I mean?

Now here's the Sun Cap-Moon Pisces blend: A child builds a sandcastle of reinforced concrete...Bilbo in Tokein's 'Lord of the Rings'...'Bathers in a Landscape' by Paul Cezanne...A wine collector uncorks a rare vintage to celebrate a success. (Sun Sign-Moon Sign, Chas & Suzi Harvey.)

With our decider-in-chief off the continent (and as usual I feel a certain bouyancy), we're forced to decide for ourselves which combo may better describe Benjamin.

Franklin was ahead of his time and one cannot rule out a Pisces Moon, the sign which contains all other signs before it, and Cap-Pisces is a humanitarian combination--actually the humanitarian businessman. A New Moon personality, Franklin was emotional, impulsive, subjective, and intuitive.

His most powerful natal midpoint picture (which I entered on the chart but didn't complete due to lack of space, so here it is) has Jupiter/Pluto (plutocrats!) pointing at scientific reformer and rebel, Uranus...

Jup-Pluto = Uranus: intense application of resources to establish new perspectives; turning the tables; getting back on track or finding a better one; fanatical striving for improvements; sudden reform; adjustment to new circumstances (Tyl; Ebertin.)

In the 10:30 am chart, pictured here, there is also a YOD (Finger of God) which I neglected to colorize for you but will mention since it relates to a special life purpose but also to health issues.

Moon-Venus = Uranus: sudden romantic feelings and attachments (he was a laydees' man--and had Mars-Pluto midpoint conj Desc, 10:30 am); a periodic and sudden manifestation of sexual desire (hubba hubba); fits of emotion and irritability.

Ebertin gives Moon-Venus as glandular secretions and Uranus disrupts--this may cause convulsive states when triggering the Moon-Venus midpoint.

Well, I don't know what Franklin actually died from but it couldn't have been good--it killed him.

Now on that sassy note, let's consider his Solar Return chart for Jan 17, 2008:

Historical charts for our Founding Fathers intrigue me and I tend to use them to 'speak for' America in the here-and-now (or for whatever time frame under consideration.)

So you can imagine my semi-surprise when I found Hillary Clinton's campaign 2008 written all over it. And since Ben himself is no longer with us these 218 years, I shall give a pass to his SR as a personal map for him and mosey on to Hillary implications.

Primarily it's the Taurus Moon in 10th house of Public Status and Career that clued me in...

Mars/MC = Moon: publicity; an emotional appeal (!); changing status through emotional "feel" !!

Yes, Hillary is being said to be using a newly accessible emotional style. She's found her "voice" she says...and, this reluctant astrologer notes, her tear ducts along with it. Weepy crocodiles the world over are tres proud!

Venus-Jupiter = Pluto: publicity; the world view (as in NWO?); popularity; unbounded enthusiam (she's waited so long to take hold of the New Millennium baton...she expects it and perhaps has been promised it. Guess the New Moon over New Hampshire was Hill and John McCain hooking up.)

Sun-Uranus = Neptune: self-deluding schemes for ego recognition; blind zeal can only be detrimental; unexpected events connected with flying, water, or navigation.

Hey! that last sounds like Bush's tour of the Middle East when he was forced to motor instead of helicoptering--and of course, Franklin's Solar Return is also a simple transit chart for Jan 17. Perhaps Clinton will experience similar delays on the campaign trail--or Bush may have vehicle troubles again.

Pluto-MC = North Node (the public; associations): the desire to gain leadership; influence over other people.

Mars-NN = MC: excellent teamwork; partnership values are important.

Well, there you have it. Hopefully, Benjamin isn't squirming in his grave at this post with its quirky insinuations concerning our current outrage--er, I mean presidential campaign.

If he is, I'll be more than happy to fluff his pillow which will give me a chance to apologize to a Founding Father for the America this squad of politicians have brought upon us and upon the world.

Global domination indeed.

*other possible birth times: 11:00 am, 1:30 am, 9:40 pm, all LMT.

**Titus Leeds' predicted date of death: Oct 17, 1733, "3 hos, 29 mins PM"...a request for calculation supposedly made to Franklin by Mr. Leeds...cheeky monkeys!

For dates of Ben Franklin's triple Uranus Return visit Jude's Threshold if you wish.

Diebold-Premier: secret vote counting in N.H.

NH: "First in the nation" (with corporate controlled secret vote counting)

By Nancy Tobi

Jan 7 2008: 81% of New Hampshire ballots are counted in secret by a private corporation named Diebold Election Systems (now known as "Premier"). The elections run on these machines are programmed by one company, LHS Associates, based in Methuen, MA. We know nothing about the people programming these machines, and we know even less about LHS Associates. We know even less about the secret vote counting software used to tabulate 81% of our ballots.

campaign 2008: is hanky panky on the way?

It's only a matter of time (perhaps mere minutes) before hanky panky is revealed in the 2008 campaign...read Lim the Spycat's take on scandal kitty 2008 and get thee ready!

And scroll just below to read some interesting readers' observations on campaign machinations and trickeries...see government's cousins and fools.

The Power of The Vote

This in from Intrepid Liberal Journal:

Supporting a presidential candidate for me is deeply personal. It’s not simply deciding which candidate I will pull the lever for in the privacy of a voting booth. Rather I approach the decision as an activist and ask myself: after weighing all the virtues and flaws of the declared candidates on whose behalf am I willing to devote my free time?

In my darker moments I’ll ask myself, “Do any of these lying corporatist whores deserve my support? Why bother with any of them?” The ship has long sailed on my days of being a "true believer."

Ultimately, in spite of my disenchantment, I believe in the power of the vote. Even with the sordid history of stolen elections and broken promises, I remain convinced the best way to change the system is through participation in the political process. And the best vehicle for progressive reform is by leveraging the Democratic Party – flawed as it is. Which means I have to finally stop creasing my butt, get off the fence, and choose a candidate.

Iowa's void-of-course Moon and George Bush

UPDATE 8:57 pm EST: ABC News projecting Huckabee for the Rs, and "preliminary" results for Ds: Obama, Clinton, and Edwards, in that order. Seems kind of early to me, but we'll see if their projections hold out.

Original post here:

You know it's after 8:30 pm, Iowans must be in the throes by now, and the void-of-course Moon at 7:00 pm CST (when the throes began) has me stumped.

I mean, we know that chart-ruler Sun (*13Cap02) is *opposite US natal Sun (and Bush's natal Sun, of course) and it's clear that with 8Leo49 rising at 7:00 pm CST the natal Mercuries of the Republican Party, George Bush (and Gonzo--remember our ill-starred AG?) are rising as well--and not so far from Bush's n ASC "8Leo" ("A bolshevik propagandist") and all that, but how well can things go with a void-of-course Moon which leads to nowhere?

'Sup, Iowa? Can this be a negative for the only woman (Moon) in the bunch?

Will the final results from tonight be a long time comin'? And who's watching Karl Rove and Dick Cheney skulking in the shadows?

Now the 'caucus' Sun does apply to an opportunistic sextile with techno-savvy Uranus in 8th house...and Uranus, the reformer, certainly reminds me of the Bushies. But why is Dubya smeared all over this chart? What is the power cyclist up to?

If we consider Bush's natal conjunction in 1st house of Mercury and Pluto (10Leo35) blended with tonight's 7:00 pm Ascendant, a midpoint picture emerges...

Pluto/ASC = Mercury: exercising influence; lording it over others; intellectual domination.

He does so love being a consequential leader and with a 12th house Sun in Cancer, he's something of a meddling busybody from behind-the-scenes...comes by it naturally...yet he's a master at scuttling out of the way when the buck begins to stop...have you noticed Mr. Crabby doing just that?

Looks to me like a very busy, competitive night for old street-fightin' George and his minions.

*Sun transiting opposite Sun is when one's direction for the year should be reassessed and adjustments made if things aren't on track. If you're not sure of that date for your own chart, count exactly 6 months from your date of birth, give or take a day.

**Sun conjunct asteroid, Siva, the destroyer or creator.

Is Daniel Webster in Iowa tonight?

"...There is no nation on earth powerful enough to accomplish our overthrow...

Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter. From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing."

Daniel Webster, June 1, 1837

Thanks for above quote to: Information Clearing House

Hopefully Daniel may rest easy tonight for Iowans are not of that ilk as they make our First Decisions this evening. Yet "dupes of designing men" has become the definition of politics, that system of organized hatreds.

And on a lighter note, here is a little political cat rhymery in honor of the occasion, with prediction thrown in...compliments of Lim the Cat!

Michael Moore on the top Dem candidates

Well, I'm pretty sure the message on Edwards, Obama, and Clinton from Michael Moore is not what has Mike Huckabee on his knees before the Iowa caucus, but how we can be sure?

What's Hucka Boom been asking his Maker anyway? Please let me troll the halls of earthly power while ruling the world, oh Lord?

What is wrong with this (Christian) picture? Didn't our forebears supposedly leave Europe to avoid such things as the double whammy of church + state?

Today I'm looking at the chart for sunrise in Des Moines Thursday: with Pluto still at 29Sag+ and conjunct Nemesis (the unbeatable opponent--also at 29 degr) near Jupiter 3Cap36 and all three in behind-the-scenes 12th house (sunrise 7:46:35 am CST) it seems certain that big doins' are afoot--or ahoof, as I like to think of those darned plutocrats.

Jupiter = the Rs, as you know; Saturn = the Ds.

Saturn 8Vir22 Rx is in 8th house as is the Moon's South Node, a Saturnian point which may indicate a Dem from the past--which could be Hillary-of-the-90s, or John Edwards from his previous prez bid. And their being in 8th house of high finance points to Clinton or to Edwards as well--her for suckling so greedily from the corporate t*t, he for vowing to fight against corporatism with FDR's inherited big stick.

Sunrise in Des Moines, Jan 3, 2008 brings "13Cap" rising, "A fire worshiper" which has an interesting keyword: MAGIC...

pos: extraordinary skill in enlisting every resource of the world for the exaltation of self and the consummation of its ambitions;

neg/unconscious/shadow side: consistent overestimation of personal capacity.

At MC (Aspirations; Goals) is 7Sco58--with Sigma, keywords: good judgment; moral sanity leading to moderation; self-control; temperance; restraint.

In 10th house of Career is the Moon 17Sco53 (the people; the public) indicating publicity but also fluctuations, and I think that Sigma's keywords and concepts more likely describe the people themselves than this gaggle of say-anything politicians. Unless it's...John Edwards' and his exalt-the-people populist stance.

Yet all that Scorpionic energy at top of the chart connects closely with Hillary Clinton's natal chart...and Moon = a woman. Hmm.

Perhaps John Edwards is sincere about loosening the corporate noose about our government's and our own necks. And if he gets to the White House and tries, he'll have little time for anything else--and may find himself in mortal danger as well.

Both Lincoln and Kennedy were taken out and both had spoken as president about reforming the world banking system, y'know. Now it's 2008 and the world banking system is teeteringly unstable, if you believe their PR. But we know that massive amounts of money are in process of being shifted in a final coup, it is to be feared.

Those Campaign Politics, she said:

Of course, if you've ever read my ravings much you know that I see the whole political rigamarole as theater, dahling--part of the selection process but the actual selection isn't up to the voters in this our one-party system. Campaigns are designed to sustain the illusion of democracy and keep the masses busy and at bay.

Plus, most Americans might agree that campaign rhetoric most often turns out to be hogwashery once the power is attained and the puppeteers make things crytal clear to the new "boss" in the Oval Office--yet, in a semi-fit of dwindling hope, I must agree with the conclusions of Michael Moore in his letter linked above.

So if you haven't read it, I hope you will take a moment to do so.

And now the ruthless, loyal-to-the-cause Sun Cap-Moon Sco Images for Integration for Jan 3, 2008:

A general leads his troops to victory...A film director plans each shot to maximize its emotional impact (Sun Sign-Moon Sign, Chas & Suzi Harvey.)

Sounds like victory for Jupiter-the-General-or-Preacher...the one who's used TV ads most effectively! I watched in amazement last Sunday as Huckabee denied that his tv ad was meant to suggest the Christian CROSS behind him as the camera panned to bring the "bookshelf" more into focus...who does he think he's zoomin'?

"Onward Christian soldiers" indeed. One warmonger was put into the White House in 2000 and evangelicals rejoiced. My heartfelt prayer is that we forego making the same mistake again. Let's make a different one this time.

Spotlight on Mercury: Mike Huckabee

Today I continue the series on candidates' Mercuries (their thinking and communication abilities and styles) with Republican Mike Huckabee, former governor of Arkansas, who has stated in the campaign that he will "represent the people on Main Street, not Wall Street."

Setting aside my intuition that none of the candidates will truly be able to perform this amazing feat from the Oval Office--and they won't occupy it long if they do--I submit to you my notes on Huckabee's natal chart with emphasis on natal Mercury 17Vir31 (sunrise--birth time unknown--Aug 24, 1955; 5:46:19 am CST.)

Mercury rules two signs of the zodiac--Gemini and Virgo. A Geminian Mercury is interested in ideas for their own sakes, while Mercury in Virgo prefers that ideas have practical applications toward financial success and status.

Depending on aspects, house placements, and other factors, a Virgoan Mercury indicates an analytical mind with practical reasoning ability. Precision and accuracy are important to this Mercury placement which works best in orderly surroundings where efficient procedures are prominent (The Astrologer's Handbook, Sakoian.)

Education and development of skills, including proper grammar, bring financial and professional success to the Virgoan Mercury. Language abilities make them good orators, an ability which has aided Huckabee in his early preaching career and, of couse, in verbiose politics.

Mercury in Virgo is oriented toward dedicated work, so when Huckabee mentions his previous hard work as governor, I believe him. Detailed work is attractive to the Virgoan Mercury which may show a shyness and a retiring air which doesn't like to waste time in idle conversation. Getting on with the job is more common unless other factors interfere.

Since I have no birth time for him, Mercury's house placement is unknown to me (though it wouldn't surprise me if Huckabee has Sag rising considering his previous poundage, plus: Jupiter = the preacher; the optimist), but we can be certain that natal Mercury is in a separating sextile (60 degrees) with n Saturn in Scorpio.

The fact that it is a separating (waning) aspect indicates that the aspect's gifts are inherited, probably from the paternal side--unless his mother wore the pants in the family--and with Moon in Scorpio, perhaps she did. And it's possible he received these abilities from both sides of the family, for we are all the 'flowering of our generations,' aren't we?

Mercury sextile Saturn: disciplined mind; organizational skills esp in career matters; prudence and forethought in the decision-making process; lecturing and teaching talents; math ability; never leaves anything to chance--there is purpose behind every thought and action.

That last trait is perfect for politics in which nothing happens by accident--if it happens, we can be sure it was designed to happen (FDR.) (btw: I consider this to apply to mysterious 'suicides' and plane crashes as well.)

As final dispositor of his natal chart, Huckabee's Mercury in Virgo underpins all his natal planets' energies, is strong in its own sign, and indicates a stable mind able to organize his talents toward long-term goals and objectives.

However, you may want to read my concerns about Huckabee as US president for a fuller view of aw-shucks-I'm-harmless Mike Huckabee.

note: please pardon the typo in the title of this post if you're seeing it--it has been corrected on blog!

Ron Paul on Freedom, Sherry Wolf on Paul

Dueling articles? Two articles from Information Clearing House:

What Does Freedom Really Mean?

By Ron Paul

Few Americans understand that all government action is inherently coercive. If nothing else, government action requires taxes. If taxes were freely paid, they wouldn't be called taxes, they'd be called donations. If we intend to use the word freedom in an honest way, we should have the simple integrity to give it real meaning: Freedom is living without government coercion. So when a politician talks about freedom for this group or that, ask yourself whether he is advocating more government action or less.

What Does Freedom Really Mean?

The Freedom To Starve: Why the Left Should Reject Ron Paul

By Sherry Wolf

"POLITICS, LIKE nature, abhors a vacuum," goes the revamped aphorism. Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul's surprising stature among a small but vocal layer of antiwar activists and leftist bloggers appears to bear this out.

Why the Left Should Reject Ron Paul

"The executive has no right, in any case, to decide the question, whether there is or is not cause for declaring war."

"Where an excess of power prevails, property of no sort is duly respected. No man is safe in his opinions, his person, his faculties, or his possessions." James Madison 1751-1836 American Statesman, 4th President of the US

"It belongs to human nature to hate those you have injured." Tacitus

"Characteristics of a popular politician: a horrible voice, bad breeding, and a vulgar manner." Aristophanes 456-386 BC, Greek Dramatist

"A man should never be ashamed to own that he has been in the wrong, which is but saying...that he is wiser today than yesterday." Jonathan Swift 1667-1745 Irish Cleric, Essayest, Author, Satirist

"Virtue has a veil, vice a mask." Victor Hugo

Ah, yes...the Solar Eclipse at the Unmasking degree cometh...Feb 7, 2008 at "18AQ": "A man unmasked" in the 10 North Series, opposite the degree of Venus on 9/11/01. Perhaps we'll find out who Venus represented on that grim day.

10N: strong emphasis on communications (campaign rhetoric?), and frustrating or inhibiting events occur concerning news, paperwork, or a young person; time to take things easy due to drained feelings of tiredness; best to work through difficulties one at a time (Brady's Predictive Astrology.)

Spotlight on Mercury: John Edwards

John Edwards (June 10, 1953; 7:02 am est; Seneca, SC; rated A: astrodatabank) is proud possessor of an out-of-bounds Mercury in his natal chart.

Out-of-bounds (oobs) planets accept no limits and may indicate boundless success and creativity--in the case of John Edwards, Mercury's territories of communications, oration, intellectual pursuits, and commerce seem to have benefited him greatly when he was trying medical malpractice suits and making millions.

You see in his natal chart that Mercury had just risen as he was being born, yet the Moon is chart-ruler (ASC 12Can01--conjunct US n Sun = the leader in a national chart. He has already expressed this connection, of course, in the Senate and in running for president 2004.)

Moon is in Gemini near Jupiter and all in all there are many factors showing money-making ability, and links to medical issues (including wounded Chiron in 7th house of marriage partner and legal affairs (lawsuits.) And Edwards isn't the only Washington politician with a Moon-Jupiter conjunction...expansive emotional desires used in public relations...Dubya is one such...the glass is supposedly always half-full.)

Tonight I'm looking at Edwards' Mercury in Cancer, 12th house, yet perhaps should mention that also in 12th house are Sun (politician; unconscious arrogance); and Mars 27Gem33..."28Gem" = "A man declared bankrupt"--DELIVERANCE...

pos: an effective and overall effectiveness even in the worst of situations;

neg/shadow side: a willingness to dodge every responsibility and betray the very core of self. (This "Bankruptcy" degree refers to court cases and to "enter(ing) new paths of opportunity) (The Sabian Symbols in Astrology, Jones.)

Mercury in 12th house is very creative--as is the sign of Cancer, which is also connected to business and commerce) yet a 12th house Mercury, says Tracy Marks in her marvelous book, Your Secret Self, gives a constantly active mind, always seeking to organize vast amounts of stimulation and information; plus, a tendency toward nervousness.

Frequently there are negative messages from childhood which must be overcome--"don't be stupid" or "be quiet", etc. Then much can be achieved. 12th house Mercuries study many in-depth subjects behind the scenes--more than anyone knows.

In Washington, Sen Edwards was known to be a fast-talker, fast-walker, with little regard for protocol--Mercury in 12th house seldom develops an ability for small talk and makes compulsive lists of details for organizing and planning life.

An undervalued or overvalued intellect may result from having a 12th house Mercury and refuge may be sought in their intellectual capacities. Yet the Scarecrow's "If only I had a brain" mantra may sometimes prevail, esp during school days.

As you know, Edwards was first in his family to attend and graduate from college--AQ on 9th cusp of higher learning would've wanted that bwo Saturn's influence in 9th house. And Uranus' higher vibrations (AQ) would have wanted progress bwo higher education.

Basically this is a non-verbal thinker who perceives the world in terms of images, feelings, and sensations. His active Moon in combination with Mercury supports this, for Moon-Mercury is intuitive and thinks with the feelings (Tyl.) Moon is oobs, along with Mars and Mercury--and Edwards was born during a Moon hour--good for public dealings and publicity--an extraordinary amount of it thanks in part to an oobs Moon.

Although Gemini is the sign of a social butterfly, Moon-Mercury folks are usually very involved with their families. In fact, Edwards' Moon and Mercury are in mutual reception with one another, describing his family's strong support of his ideas and plans.

Mercury's only aspect is 'minor'...a semi-square with powerful Pluto. Semi-squares are in the octile family (8) and are weak but difficult; a separating semi-square = the release of self through creative interchange (The Astrology of Relationship, Michael R. Myer.) They show a tendency toward dynamic connections with others which manifest in either an exciting and constructive way or in a conflicting and difficult way.

And the combo of Mercury-Pluto = communicating or demanding new perspectives; persuasion ability (which attorneys need for success), and propaganda promotion--admittedly helpful in the political realm.

It may as well be for we sure are stuck with a gracious helping of it from every direction.

Mercury rules natal 4th (Virgo) and 12th (Gemini); Saturn is square Uranus--the two old vs new , tradition vs progress planets will be in opposition for the 2008 election and for Inauguration 2009. This re-contact may support his win along with this:

John Edwards--as you can see for yourself--has North Node (NN = connections with the public) conj his 8th cusp 3AQ13...and this is where tr Jupiter (3AQ32) will be at Inauguration Jan 20, 2009; noon; DC.

And while this one factor may not be enough to propel Edwards into the Oval Office, I've not found any other candidate with such an exact, or perhaps I should say, obvious--connection with Jupiter 2009, in 10th house of the Inauguration chart. Perhaps I will but haven't *as of yet.

*UPDATE 12.22: Barack Obama's natal Saturn 25Cap22 Rx and Jupiter 00AQ56 Rx are tucked next to the Inaugural 2009's MC (noon 26Cap11, conj US n Pluto) and Mercury 00AQ41Rx, and Sun 00AQ47. So...an Obama-Edwards ticket?)

Yet Jupiter = Republican...though jolly Jupe is also the rich man (Edwards or Romney or---Bloomberg!), judge, preacher (Huckabee? don't even joke--more Bushesque Armageddon there; besides, church + state is unconstitutional), professor, guru...and attorney--which again could be...John Edwards and his out-of-bounds Mercury as prez or VP!

general notes on Mercury and the natal Mercury of Barack Obama here.

Spotlight on Mercury: Barack Obama

Speedy Mercury, whose orbit lies inside that of Earth in relation to our Sun, is not much larger than Earth's Moon, yet astrologically describes the focusing lens through which one's creative powers are directed. The characteristics of the sign of Mercury indicate influences in thinking, ability to communicate, and what occupies the mind.

What one notices and considers important is also shown by this important chart factor; plus, neutral Mercury (as the Eternal Youth, Mercury can be male or female) may be thought of as tofu--taking on the flavors of any planets which are linked with it.

The god Mercury has quite a varied career and many talents including communication ability and style, speaking, writing, and commerce.

As the god of wisdom, Mercury is associated with the Buddha (divine wisdom = buddhi), and was known as Thoth in Egypt; aka Odin (or Woden) in Norse mythology, making Wednesday Mercury's day.

In Homer's Odyssey we meet him as Hermes, the Greek god of the 'persuasive tongue' and as the messenger of Zeus...aka The Divine Herald with wings on heels and helmet. And though this function of divinity is not prevalent in Washington, I think that a consideration of various candidates and their natal Mercuries may be somewhat informative as we listen ad infinitum to Mercurial speeches, expressed plans and ideas, and promises promises--all brought to us by Mercury as Orator, spinmeister, and Messenger.

Some comments will be included on aspects of their natal Mercuries by sign, and by other distinguishing factors which quicksilver Mercury may wish to mention. Only some of the R and D candidates have a known birth times so I'll leave out questionable factors which a vague hour of birth would render off-the-mark, particularly the house (department of life) of natal Mercury.

The charts for which I use sunrise, are also checked for the noon hour to see if anything interesting turns up.

Let's begin with Barack Obama whose natal Mercury is posited at 1Leo14--very creative Leonine thinking and communicating here in the purest expression of Leo--the first decan (first 10 degrees.)

(If Mercury in Leo sounds familiar, it's because it's the sign of George Bush's natal Mercury--plus, it's Gonzo's, and the R Party's as well...9-10 Leo, Jupiter's decan.)

Sen. Obama has an out-of-sign conjunction of Jupiter (00Aq56 Rx) and Saturn (25Cap22 R) opposite Mercury, so we may wish to consider their midpoint picture--and as usual, the picture may indicate all, none, or any combination of expressions esp when triggered by transits, progressions, and such...

Jupiter/Saturn = Mercury: desire to make changes; studying one's life philosophy; studying hard and asking the right questions; speaking with great maturity; travel; the search for variety; inconstancy of mind or philosophy; a fortunate separation (all mdpts: Tyl; Ebertin.)

Another midpoint pic with which Obama's Mercury is entwined is...

Mercury/Mars = NN (the public): realization of thoughts in association with others; quarrels within a community; determined expression of one's views in public.
(I added that last one.)

Planetary Aspects of Mercury:

Mercury opposite Jupiter: tendency to promise more than can be delivered (uh oh); follow-up actions may be insufficient; attention to detail may be lacking--thoroughness is needed and must come from other factors; may be literary, scholarly, or pursue esoteric studies; may be not good at keeping secrets (uh-oh squared); intellectual conceit may be present.

Perhaps we should count Saturn as being in opposition since old Cronos may provide a steadying effect to the above woolly difficulties...

Mercury opposite Saturn: somewhat self-defensive; may be critical with few friends; ambitious for intellectual recognition but may encounter obstacles to its achievement; may arouse jealousy in colleagues; attacks on reputation occur; challenged to listen well to what others say; "the world is against me" attitude; may be rigidly opinionated; subject to depression, nervousness or respiratory disorders.

Well, ooo. Doesn't sound so helpful but our charts are what we make of them, si?

And Alan Oken says that Saturn opposing Mercury can teach mental discipline, responsibility, and the necessity for precision (Alan Oken's Complete Astrology.) Seems it must have done for Barack Obama esp since Saturn is strong in his own sign of Capricorn.

Rx Saturn must develop his own inner authority for the father may have been absent in some way or was somehow insuffient in his authority role...the weak when he should have been strong, domineering when he should have been gentle model which many people must work through during their adult lives (from Erin Sullivan's info to me.)

Mercury in Leo: strong willed, fixed purpose; capable of focused concentration with the Sun dispositing Mercury; dramatic and forceful manner of speech; likes to be considered an authority; mental self-confidence gives positivity in thinking which aids in problem-solving; may deal with the broader view at the expense of important details.

Because Leo is a Fixed sign, opinions form slowly and change with much reluctance (or never, as with the current White House denizen.) Continuity of purpose bestows executive ability, and a love of travel for business or pleasure may be enjoyed.

Obama has been criticized as being short on details--now I see how that may be a permanent facet of his style of thinking, and not just a campaign ploy or a sign of lack of preparation. Details may be someone else's province were he to become president or vp.

The unveiled hook-up of Obama with former Clinton adminstration advisers may be their way of greasing wheels for a Hillary-Barack regime (I say regime because not much will be changing for America--sadly.

And John Edwards' out-of-bounds Mercury seems not to wish to cooperate as closely with the corporate gamesters and robber barons--Edwards is playing Robin Hood's part but I'm not convinced it means any real improvement for the common good. Wish it could, but if it did, who'd cooperate with him?)

~(Update 2008: Edwards dropped out of the race but is said to be consulted often by Clinton and Obama--an Atty Gen post for Edwards would be okay be me--or vp.)~

Well, that's my Capricorn Mercury attempting to communicate some info about the shiny, proud Leonine Mercury of roaring Barack Obama. Guess I'll continue next time with other Dem candidates, then it'll be on to the Republicans. Or perhaps I'll alternate R and D in no particular order.

To be continued...
