The Natal Horoscope and Character of George Washington

Towering Figures in Early US History w the Natal Chart of George Washington

by Jude Cowell

Chuck Baldwin's Founders Without Whom America Would Not Exist gives more detail of the usual crew than if our Founding Fathers could sign up with LinkedIn but not so much that reading them interferes with your July 4th celebration!

George Washington's Natal Horoscope

Here you see the natal horoscope of The Father of Our Country, George Washington, born February 22, 1732 NS (OS = Feb 11) Colonial Beach, Virginia at a recorded time of 10:00 am LMT (probably rounded off but who can say? Its Rodden Rating is AA so I'm going with 10:00 am.)

Hour of responsible, authoritarian Saturn; chart-ruler is Venus 29Pis24 which applies to only one major aspect: a conjunction with staid Saturn 2Ari41 showing that he took himself seriously. As you see, both planets snug around 12th cusp of Politics, Karma, and The Unconscious. Washington is known for having visions and for prizing loyalty and commitment, both traits which may be found in his Venus-Saturn-12th-cusp picture.

Plus, the archetypal "Father of Our Country" label along with the usual serious expression he affected in portraits (and in life, I've read, usually ascribed to his lifelong dental problems) may be seen in the Sabian Symbol for natal Venus @'30Pis' = "The Great Stone Face" with face relating to Venus and stone an obvious Saturn reference. Plus, as you know, Washington's visage is captured on stony Mount Rushmore.

George Washington is well-known for mystical tendencies (he was a Grand Poo-Bah of Freemasonry and may be viewed in portraits wearing his Masonic apron--he owned two apparently--here are good photos of an apron on display in the Lodge at Philadelphia--and these are in large part indicated by Sun in Pisces (as has Mitt Romney along with natal Mercury and Mars) and by Neptune in 1st house of Self. Neptune is in Gemini (the youth who served the gods) which is ruled by Mercury (the messenger of the gods) which creates a Mercury-Neptune vibe in his psyche relating to...mysticism and visions which are further encouraged by a Neptune-Pluto trine, and NN in Sagittarius, sign of The Seeker on a Quest, in the 8th H of The Occult.

In addition, warring Mars in occult-studying Scorpio, sign of the Eagle, lends more mysticism to his personality bwo Scorpio along with a strong Mars-Pluto streak. Interestingly (and perhaps you can read a notation of it if you enlarge the chart) Mars is focal planet of the Pluto/NN midpoint which gave him potential for an exhibition of personal power and/or tyranny. (Tyl.) Perhaps this brutality is best seen in General Washington's quick execution of deserters though fighting and leading in war is proof enough for me.

And yet without his ambitious Capricorn Moon, the General might never have had the reigning need to become a political leader such as a President, a rise in status which is supported by the natal chart's hemispheric emphasis on the Public sector (7/3) including n Moon in 9th H. And of course, his military career is seen in the 6th H of Military Service with the very powerful yet wide conjunction of Jupiter (The General) and Pluto (the Poo-Bah of Control) in Libra, a sign of war. This also shows the Revolution's financial support from foreign sources.

And of course you see Washington's IC (Foundation of the Matter; the HOW? Point) @'30 Cancer' = "A Daughter of the American Revolution"!

(M.E. Jones.)

Another aid to him in war and politics was his 10th H Mercury 6AQ33 at focal point of the Saturn-Uranus midpoint which supplied him with the ability to hit back hard under provocation along with a natural talent for organization. Mercury rules 2nd H of Earning Ability and Values so Washington was no slacker in the moneymaking department of life. Inheritance is shown by SN in 2nd H and NN in 8th H.

Considering that Washington's refusal to be crowned 'king' of America is much-touted along with his walking away from the power of the presidency, it's curious to me that (if his birth time is correct or nearly so), Pluto and Ascendant are inconjunct (150 degr) denoting that he volunteered his services, was recognized as having a strong character, smoldered inside if anyone revealed his weaknesses, and had secret hopes that opportunities would present themselves to show what he could accomplish if given the authority to do so.

As we know, quite a few opportunities did...

forgotten: the cost of a free and undivided republic?

"Let no vandalism of avarice or neglect, no ravages of time testify to the present or to the coming generations that we have forgotten as a people the cost of a free and undivided republic."

- General Logan, May 5, 1868

May 5, 1868: Sun conjunct Pluto 15 Taurus, the Oxen Point. At noon in DC (and operative for the day) the strongest midpoint picture I see is: Pluto/NN = Uranus: an intense need for recognition; crush the opposition. (Tyl.) Oh dear - sounds like Gen. Logan was taking a...dare I say it...political stand.

Yet on another level 'recognition' may refer to the day of recognition of the fallen. Midpoint pictures may work in an any, all, or none manner for manifestation often depends on being triggered by transits or progressions...or as transits themselves, they may stimulate an individual's, an entity's, or an event chart's placements.)

Yes, General Logan's sentiments are noble words for noble standards, portraying the lofty ideals which America, we've always been told, was founded upon.

My problem is that usurpers who coup our government, with their comperes - the possessors of concentrated wealth who have *always been in control and have manipulated our natural sense of patriotism against us, against those who serve - hide behind our patriotism as a cynical means of establishing their own personal armed forces.

A standing army is a bad idea for the health of the nation, said the Founders, but Capitol Hill tossed that idea out the White House window several decades ago in the interests of grasping and holding political power.

Like Lucifer's suave entry into the matrix of this world by way of a lie, to motivate us into war required a lying way of insinuation and jingoist hype to pull the wool over the sheeple's eyes. Propaganda? Yes, Memorial Day is progandistic to the extent that each citizen allows it to be used as such.

And there's no telling what subliminal messages they're preparing for us after we're triumphantly shoved across the 'Digital Divide' in June. For one thing, more political polarization, I assume, as in: 'Digitally Divide and Conquer.' The best slaves are unaware of their enslavement!

Yet families with fallen loved ones have feelings informed by experience, and if one goes back to all US wars, here and abroad, a larger percentage of our populace have fallen family members to remember on Memorial Day.

My great-great grandfather, Turner Simmons, is buried at **Goldsboro, NC, perhaps in the mass grave there, perhaps not. Either way his sacrifice remains valuable to my family and to the nation and was certainly a huge blow to my mother's side of the family and to the wife and children he sadly left behind.

My dad's side of the family lost at least two brothers that I know of, also in the 'Civil' War, and one of them was the eldest of the crew born in Oglethorpe County, GA, circa 1821+. I believe these ancestral losses and the grief associated with them are in my DNA...I have great interest in studying the Civil War but can only take so much at once before a sense of deep despair overcomes my empathetic heart, and I must end my delving for a time.

Since Hawaii's Senator Inouye first introduced a bill to restore Memorial Day to May 30 (March 17, 1989), Memorial Day as a tribute of gratitude to America's fallen has degenerated into vacation activities for most of us. I have no problem with the restoration of the May 30 date (of my childhood - I am a child of the Revolution as are many) but must wonder what Congress thought it was up to when it changed the date.

(My first intuition is that they were up to No Good, of course!)

So if you'd like a better presentation of these ideas than I can give you, I recommend David Merchant's website set up to argue persuasively for the restoration to May 30 as Memorial Day and as a higher mark of respect for America's fallen than a 3-day weekend of cook-outs and weiner roasts can ever be.

*(US Pluto in Capricorn out-of-bounds of the earthly plane - not party to the other actors except for a loosey goosey relationship with Mars in Gemini and Venus in Cancer, also OOBs in the July 4, 1776 chart.)

**Georgia's 3rd under Gen. Ambrose Wright, Gen. Burnside's NC Expedition engaged the 21st Massachusetts and 51st Pennsylvania forces, commander: Brig. Gen. Jesse Lee Reno; April 19 - 22, 1862, known as 'Camden County' or the Battle of South Mills. The Confederates were building ironclads at Norfolk and so the march to carnage was on.

Solar Eclipse 29 Cancer 7.22.09

Update/Correction: above chart and post titles both show "July 22, 2009" but as you plainly see from the chart's date, the Eclipse occurs in the Eastern time zone on the evening of July 21...yet if I change the post's title it will confuse crawlers and spiders everywhere, so I stand self-corrected and hope you can forgive me a crazy typo!

Original post begins here:

July 21, 2009 Solar Eclipse 29Can27 in the 11 South Series; 10:34:32 pm edt, Washington, DC, USA.

Eclipse occurs in 5th house of Creativity, Risk-Taking and Gambling, Romance, and Progeny; Mars Hour, no out-of-bounds planets so all are on the Earthly plane and participating within the group; Mutable-Water strong.

Venus is just beyond her 'Venus Transit' degree of June, 2004, the day of the G-8 Summit on Sea Island, GA. Venus Transits indicate a time when unsuspected associations are formed with unusual partners.

Sun-Moon applying (1A50) to inconjunct with Pluto 1Cap17 Rx in 10th house of Public Status. Morya and Pluto are still traveling together.

Sun inconj Pluto: taking on more responsibilities; need is to dispense with non-essentials and focus energies on specific goals; the less conflict created when dealing with others the better.

Moon inconj Pluto: objectivity needed; over-reaction to other people's demands and needs yet submission brings contempt; need to unlearn old habit systems to avoid being taken advantage of; good for working behind the scenes but with a tendency to be a patsy for other people's incompetence.

As you see, the Eclipse is at a critical or crisis 29th degree, but I'm using the rounding-up method: '30Can' has this Sabian Symbol: "A Daughter of the American Revolution"...INHERITANCE (MEJ.)

pos: an infectious pride in leadership through which a group is able to act as a unit;

neg/unconscious/shadow side: the ultimate betrayal of self hood by a false assumption of superiority.

There is more to say about this rather difficult Solar Eclipse but it will have to wait until I have more time...for now, click chart to enlarge for a few of my private notes including some of America's natal placements highlighted in blue.

In pink is notated Bernadette Brady's description of the 11 South Series of Solar Eclipses which last manifested on July 11, 1991, 18Can59.
