Can Astrology Show the GOP's "Turning Point"?

Hey Liz! Some Say the GOP's "Turning Point" Occurred Way Back in 2016!

May 6, 2021: As you've heard or read by now Rep. Liz Cheney has written an op-ed concerning the current condition of the Republican Party, an internal fight. See Facing an ouster from House leadership, Cheney says GOP is at 'turning point' and must choose between the more traditional version of conservatism that she favors (torture, endless war, austerity?), and the Big Lie cult of personality of Donald Trump, intended to keep him in office way beyond his sell-by date which expired at noon on Inauguration Day 2021.

But so far from what I've heard, Rep. Cheney isn't counting events that occurred when Trump announced his candidacy in June 2015 at the New Moon (25Gemini) and, more critically, the change came (in public) with the 2016 Russian-spy-infused RNC that nominated the faithless manchild and 'Putin pal' I tend to call, agent orange.

Now naturally, the term "turning point" conjures images of a YOD pattern in the minds of most if not all astrologers so I began to wonder if any of the Republican Party horoscopes would evolve to show a YOD pattern when progressed to a current date such as this very day.

Now in my files there are multiple founding horoscopes for the Republican Party and I chose the following two sets of data to search within for progressed YODs, if any, that contain turning point;crossroads;crisis;special task implications. Of course, YODs are also timing devices which can bring opportunity for karmic progress or advancement but since this experiment concerns politicians, let's keep our hopes tethered to the reality of their personal limitations.

The two Republican Party founding charts used:

March 20, 1854 6:30 pm LMT Ripon WI and July 6, 1854 5:00 pm LMT Ripon, WI.

Dual Horoscopes, below = today's Secondary Progressions ('SP'): upper right chart is based on, or issues from, the party's March 20th horoscope, and lower left, the SP chart is based on the party's July 6th horoscope. Note that other founding horoscopes, if you have them, may also contain 'turning point" info for those who care to progress them.

Upper right chart with 3Pis11 rising shows an SP YOD between the SP Venus-Saturn sextile pointing to SP Chiron @16Cap00 Rx and SP Jupiter @17Cap51 (in SP 11th house of Groups and Associations). Even the party's SP Pallas (strategy; wisdom) joins in the pattern while the Venus-Saturn sextile denotes those who exploit others, who prefer the tried and true (like Trump? he's been tried - to be false!), and who find it impossible to allow for mid-course changes of direction. So apparently Trump must be included in that unfortunate assessment. Then if we read the YOD as a midpoint picture with Jupiter at apex, we find potentials for 'separations' and/or 'illegitimate relationships' (R. Ebertin).

As you see, in both SP charts, wounded/wounding Chiron is in governmental Capricorn indicating a need to prevail ("own the libs"?) and to win in spite of all adversity. With Chiron in Capricorn, older mentors are often prevalent, even via historical figures, along with an irrational desire to conquer Time itself (ex: ruling a nation forever?). (R. Nolle).

Revealingly, SP Sun @11Vir14 conjuncts the party's SP Cupido ('The Family'; The Syndicate; Corporatism) and SP Toro, one of the power asteroids which can also include nuclear power. SP Moon (12th house of Politics and Karma) squares SP Pluto (2nd house and highlighted in lavender), a temporary influence indicating intense emotions, seeking support or withdrawing, financial security being challenged, competition, and/or holding on to old grudges (Pottenger-Dobyns).

Now even though the forceful, brutal SP Mars-Pluto opposition is fading, the midpoint of the duo conjuncts SP Moon so potentials for 'ambition; audacity and daring; a determined or resolute woman' (Liz? her replacement?); and/or 'injury caused to a woman' (Ebertin) are of influence. Plus, I have no accurately timed horoscope for Liz Cheney but her natal Moon remained in Sagittarius for the entire 24 hours so the party's March 20th SP Saturn @15Gem20 (conjunct SP IC) could possibly be opposing her natal Moon, a depressive, oppressive influence on her from party leadership (Saturn = authority figures) if so. Also note that the party's rising SP Neptune @14Pis38 is within orb of an opposition to Cheney's natal Pluto @16Vir45, suggesting an erosion of her power and control within the party particularly in relation to ideals (Neptune).

With the party's July 6th horoscope progressed to today, we do find a YOD but only if we use the SP Uranus-Neptune sextile as its base pointing toward US natal Saturn (14Lib48). Read as a midpoint picture, we have potentials for 'change of direction' (which can suggest a turning point) and/or a condition in which there's a clash between 'ambitions vs projects' (Ebertin). Plus, the Uranus-Neptune 'new world order' pair in sextile hints at those who stand apart from the mainstream of society so perhaps we can agree that radical political reactionaries in the Trump faction of the GOP pride themselves on doing just that. It's anti-societal all the way.

Perhaps I should add a double SP midpoint picture for it's quite revealing of the party's current atmosphere: SP Mars-Pluto = SP Neptune with potentials for: 'cunning and deceit; secretly causing harm or damage to others; implacability'. Also Mars-Pluto conjunct MC: 'ambition; facing overwhelming force without power; overcoming sudden difficulties' (Ebertin).

So to close, let's mention the July 6th SP BOWL shape of planets (having a mission or the advocacy of a cause) led by SP Mercury @11Sag45 (which might be conjunct Liz Cheney's natal Moon, who knows?) and denotes serious conflicts, possible separations, and supports their 'desire to be in control' and with 'a focus on limitations' (Pottenger-Dobyns).

Limitations? Sounds like a case of Republican sore loser belly-achin' to me.

Contained within is a link to a related csnbc article "Russian ambassador won't name all the Trump officials he's met with because 'the list is so long'," an excuse that apparently sufficed at the time.

Now some might say that it was naughty of me back then to connect the July 2016 Capricorn Full Moon conjunct US Pluto with spies and betrayals of the Trump Campaign but now, with Joe Biden as President and no friend of Putin, things seem to be culminating like a revealing Full Moon can do - similar to a leaky Lunar Eclipse uncovering inconvenient facts and scandals. View the Full Moon horoscope, above, and you'll see, among other things, that Sun-Pluto = Midheaven (Taking Power is The Goal) and the Saturn-Pluto midpoint rises which suggests cumbersome circumstances!

For as detailed by former prosecutor Glenn Kirschner yesterday, Revelation of Trump-Russia Collusion via Manafort-Kilimnik is a Sign we are Trending Toward Justice which sounds as if the 'Pied Piper' of Putinville may finally have to pay the piper himself.

And how cumbersome yet interesting that revealing developments of proof are made public as (publishing) Pluto (the spy) returns to his 1776 position (27Cap33) and creeps up to the RNC 2016 Full Moon under which America was betrayed!

DC Horoscope: Manafort Trial September 17, 2018

Update August 28, 2018: the September 17th trial of Paul Manafort will proceed as scheduled with jury selection, however, opening statements are postponed for one week until September 24th.

Uncertain of the precise hour the trial of Paul Manafort opens on September 17, 2018 in a Washington DC courtroom, the following horoscope is set for '8:00 am edt' and as you see, the Midheaven ('MC'), or Goal Point, at the top of the chart @8Can34 shows the natal Mercury of Donald Trump crossing over it at that moment. Fixed star Alhena is there as well with its theme, to have a mission. Might the mission have anything to do with Trump's chatty if duplicitous Mercury? More likely with Mr. Manafort's knowledge of the Mercurial Trump's 2016 campaign.

September 17, 2018 The Cosmic Curtain Rises in Judge Jackson's Courtroom

Rising at 8:00 am is 7Lib32 which makes Venus chart-ruler yet she makes no applying aspects at all to clue us in on how things will proceed. Or does she? With no application of the chart-ruler, we must depend on Venus' sign, degree, house placement (2nd h of Money, Values, Possessions), and house ruler-ship to tell the tale. Here, with Venus in brooding Scorpio, sign of corporations, money, big business, and betrayal, we find the Sabian Symbol for Venus' degree instructive: '6Scorpio' = "A Gold Rush"...AMBITION with its negative expression of "a lack of practical discrimination and an irresistible desire for easy money." (Jones). Considering the allegations against unregistered 'foreign lobbyist' and money launderer, Mr. Manafort, this seems clear enough, right? Plus, Venus also rules the corporate 8th house of Finance, Shared Resources, Credit, and Debt via Taurus, the luxury-loving sign of Paul Manafort's natal Moon. Yes, luxury, comfort, money, and possessions are his reigning needs (Moon).

Then there's Mr. Trump's natal Cancerian Mercury at Goal Point--Mercury, planet of communications (ex: tweets), commerce, trade, theft, deals and negotiations--in Cancer, sign of patriotism, shrewd business ability, and self-protection, so we may expect Paul Manafort's knowledge of Mr. Trump's words, plans, deals, and 'patriotism' to be part of the legal proceedings if Trump's name comes up at all. Possibly it will in relation to the events, contacts, and negotiations which took place at RNC 2016 as foreign actors lurked about:

Please enlarge the image to read my scribbles for not all chart factors will be mentioned in this text; besides, the trial date could possibly be changed again or the proceedings could begin at noon or later--at noon, Scorpio rises which would emphasize Mars conjunct POTUS Sun, square Uranus (0A26; danger; explosions, and Mars, here out-of-bounds (OOBs), soon to be conjoined by the transiting South Node of the Moon, aka, The Tail of the Dragon (as will the POTUS Sun 00AQ48, a separative and karmic Saturnian condition--see Tail of the Dragon Smacks POTUS Sun!) in late October 2018. Popularity with the public is not promised by this transit.

So as you see, 8:00 am edt is an Hour of Saturn, perfect for legalities and for holding the innocent-until-proven-guilty to account. Upper right of the chart I penned the ASC 7Lib32 to show that Trump's natal Neptune (5:50 Rx) is rising, then Manafort's natal Neptune (13:52 Rx) about to rise. The Sun-Mercury midpoint (business people) of this chart sits upon America's natal Neptune (23Virgo) which provides a cosmic picture of swindlers and crooks (Ebertin). Homegrown ones, I guess. Anyway, at the Foundation (IC) of the chart, the Moon at a Cardinal World Point) pairs with Saturn conjoins asteroid Orpheus so cue the violins for the emotional heaviness that pervades. Yet the Moon-Saturn duo can also denote ambition and strategy especially here in Capricorn.

This is a first quarter Moon phase (crisis in action) but what really catches my eye is the Locomotive shape of the planets (ruthless success) led by little Mercury @21Virgo--conjunct fixed star Denebola (to go against society). Mercury is oriental (rises just before the Sun) and in the 12th house of Politics, Karma, Self-Undoing, Secret Enemies, and Backroom Deals. And of course, Sun in 12th house denotes unconscious arrogance and with Mercury oriental it's predictably a 'cross the Ts dot the Is' sort of day.

Paul Manafort's natal Mercury at Aries Point (00:04) is in process of being visited by transit Chiron (the wounded healer, the wound, the blind spot) suggesting him as a conduit of some sort for sending messages. Then his natal Venus @7Ari42 is setting for the vengeful-when-scorned planet sits precisely on the Descendant at 8:00 am--with his natal Mars @8Ari21. With this pair, are love affairs or other liaisons indicated? Or merely irritability, exaggeration, and possibly a lack of tact? (Ebertin).

Now striding across the chart is a Grand Cross if we allow the Nodal axis to take part. Otherwise, it's a double T-Square between the Venus-Uranus opposition that points toward Mars @1AQ28--and US POTUS Sun (in 2017, Sun @00AQ48 = Trump) on one end, and Venus-Uranus = North NOde on the other. Quick responses and intense feelings are suggested. Plus, someone is 'ready to go' and 'proud' (POTUS Sun). Of course, another picture is shown--Mars-NN = Uranus which denotes potentials for upsets and sudden experiences, but also for active cooperation. Then Venus opposite Uranus adds collaboration to the Mars-Nodal picture. But surely not the flipping of Paul Manafort! Probably just the legal teams involved in the investigations and the trial.

And naturally, there's a notation at the bottom of the horoscope with saboteur and wealth-hoarder Pluto @18Cap48 Rx again intensifying the 1993 Uranus-Neptune conjunction/s (18Cap) which forms a midpoint picture of 'the big picture must be followed; very little option to do otherwise' (Tyl). Sounds like an offer someone can't refuse. The Sabian Symbol for this degree describes POLITICAL POWER and, negatively, 'strong-armed paternalism' at its 'best' (by which I mean worst) and here in 4th house, the Basis of the whole shebang.

And we mustn't neglect to mention the Jupiter-Pluto sextile (plutocrats; big wheeler-dealers--2nd h of Money, 4th h of Real Estate) which forms a temporary YOD (crisis; turning point) with Trump's natal Uranus-NN-Sun trio which is marked in orange in the 8th house. As a midpoint picture, this suggests Mr. Trump's tendencies for quick exploitation of every situation, far-reaching associations, possible adjustment to new circumstances, fanatical striving for improvement, and political activities (Ebertin). As a YOD the pattern can act as a timer for major adjustments which must be made so that a complete change of direction is facilitated. If the energies are poorly handled, results will be negative for Mr. Trump.

Well, there are many more cosmic clues in the chart and in later charts of the day but since I try to avoid typing too much about a horoscope for which I have no exact hour, I'll leave you with this spotty analysis until and unless the hour the trial begins is discovered causing the different house cusps to change to a large extent so that any of the portents mentioned in today's post don't hold. Or if there's a delay in the court calendar.

Here's David Pakman with what may be the most awkward moment at the RNC so far. But wait! Donald Trump's acceptance speech is tonight and you never know with Trump whose quirky Uranus in Gemini leads all the rest of his planets:

Donald Trump: natal Moon and the Sapphire Star

Are you familiar with the Star Sapphire gem? Certainly you've seen the stone's 6-pointed star which appears when tilted in direct lighting. Actually, there's a fixed star in the heavens, Ras Alhague, that is sometimes called The Sapphire Star and it conjoins the natal Moon (21Sag12) of GOP nominee Donald Trump who is to deliver his acceptance speech tonight at the RNC (timed with a US Moon Return!) Naturally, a 6-pointed star evokes the recent controversy of Trump's anti-Hillary Twitter graphic featuring a red 6-pointed star of David (as some insisted it was) and a pile of money. Hillary's corruption was asserted.

As you know, the Clinton campaign labeled the graphic "blatantly anti-Semitic" but Trump's point was made, if retracted later.

Since Mr. Trump announced his candidacy on June 16, 2015, many astrologers have emphasized his brash but entertaining Leo Mars rising with royal star Regulus on a 29th degree Ascendant--and rightly so (note that 'sun god' Apollo also rises in his chart and psyche). We hear this huge cosmic punch in his bombastic rhetoric and his apparently overflowing self-confidence that only consults itself when making decisions. He's his own best adviser and has 'never' made a mistake! And if Mr. Trump ever thinks of a sin he's committed, he'll speak to God about it, don't worry.

Yet when the reigning need (Tyl) shown by Trump's natal Moon is considered, a picture of inferior feelings comes into focus. Well, this is typical of human beings, isn't it? The more bragging a person does, the less self-esteem is hidden underneath, right? Mr. Trump constantly projects bad traits onto others ("disgusting!") in an attempt to deflect such criticism from himself, another habit many of us may commmit in our private if not public moments.

Plus, both political parties attempt to project and deflect all the time--always have. Remember when Trump said, "these are bad bad people"...stressing the 'bad bad'. This occurred during a March 2016 Trump rally, the one where police arrested protesters outside and pepper sprayed them. Perhaps he thinks that no one is allowed to disrupt when Trump is speaking with royal Regulus rising along with his aggressive Mars! The free speech of others must take a backseat when he's pontificating, of course.

So what's the cosmic condition of Mr. Trump's emotional, intuitive Moon in Sagittarius conjunct Ras Alhague, the sapphire star? First we note a Jupiterian influence through the sign of the Moon, something we may observe in the natal charts of some politicians--the mother told me I can be president when I grow up! expectation of grandeur (ex: George W. Bush). And for Donald Trump, mother was a strong influence (unconsciously) since his Moon is in natal 4th house, the Moon's natural realm (Cancer) of Home, Psychological Home, Family, Domestic Scene, and one's native land. With Moon in 4th, a picture of tribalism also comes to mind as well and his public expressions of love of home and family are heard frequently.

(Yes, dad affects his opposite house, the 10th house of Career and Public Status, in Gemini for he was born just before a Full Moon; also in 10th are quirky, disruptive Uranus @17Gem53 and the North Node of destiny @20Gem48--that's North Node of the Moon so he has a Moon-South Node conjunction opposite a Sun-North Node conjunction and must feel he's living a fated life as eclipse-born folk tend to do. That his Moon (mother) conjoins the Saturnian SN denotes some separation issues from the mother (Saturn = father) or the nuturing parent but Sun and Moon on the Nodal axis details would require a post of their own.)

Now you know that starry Ras Alhague (Alpha Ophiuchi) has links to healing and attempts to create balance but in the sky it's located in the Head of the Snake Charmer and has Saturnian, Neptunian, and negative Venusian qualities. You've probably heard him referred to as a 'snake oil salesman' by detractors!

Some influences of Ras Alhague when connected to planets or points, or on angles of a natal chart, are: a proneness to infections, epidemics, or toxins (especially when conjoining the Moon as it does for Mr. Trump), assaults by rabid animals, a tendency toward medical or hallucinatory drugs (probably medical only), and/or overindulgence with food and drink (Ebertin-Hoffmann). To this, Brady adds: teaching, wounding, and repairing that which is damaged. The snake symbol of The Healer (Caduceus) lies underneath the meaning of this star but astrologically we know that the healing energy can go from or toward Mr. Trump for he may be the one who needs healing.

He's certainly promising restoration and regeneration for America and the US economy!

Symbols of the Moon

As for symbols of his Moon degree, we can round-up to 22Sag or use the actual degree of his Moon (21Sag) which denotes a point of karmic confrontation. Let's consider the Sabian Symbols as given by Marc Edmund Jones and then add Adriano Carelli's degrees:

21Sag: "A Child and a Dog with Borrowed Eye Glasses" (the way Trump squints I've wondered if he needs glasses but is too vain to wear them in public!)...EXAMINATION; positive expression: an exceptional skill in the analysis of personal opportunity throughout the many dimensions of experience; negative/unconscious: distorted vision and self-defeating prejudice.

22Sag: "A Chinese Laundry"...SECLUSION; positive: an unusual gift for maintaining poise and self-perspective in every unfamiliar or alien situation; negative/unconscious: unnecessary acceptance of self-inferiority. There's much to say about this symbol since Mr. Trump has dealings with foreign countries like China, Russia, and Germany (huge Deustche Bank loans) and a potential implication of money laundering (perhaps drug trafficking via Ras Alhague? if so, he wouldn't be the first politician to profit from that, now would he?)

Now with excerpts from Adriano Carelli's The 360 Degrees of the Zodiac, things become really curious:

21Sag: "The six-pointed star, or David's seal"..."--picturing in the most dramatic way the endless dualism of matter against spirit." The degree "clearly attunes the contrasting forces of man's upper and lower being. Any balance may be dynamic or static..."; negatively, this influence "enhances the native's irresoluteness and renders him suspicious of all and everyone."

22Sag: "Two men engaged in a deadly fight..."Here is the perfect embodiment of stubborn and relentless dissension; should other aspects fail to soothe this inflluence, the native would be an unmitigated faultfinder. To listen to him, current public opinion is nonsense {}; the established order is unjust and absurd--nay, this is the worst possibly world {}: whatever idea is conceived by others can be but worthless trash, if for no other reason, because it crossed someone else's mind and must be condemned without trial. Here the native's spirit of wanton denial reaches the freakish height of its childish hideousness. At the bottom of all this there is an unavowed thirst for public applause {}...He will tirelessly throw stones at others, polemicize, heckle, and run down their works...he will be in for quarrels, brawls, squabbles, lawsuits for libel, well-deserved boxes on the ears and duels, which will be his daily task...{}...the politician."

Sound like anyone you know?

Well, I'm only passing along Carelli's words but you've probably heard pundits and comedians refer to punch-em-in-the-nose Donald Trump as a man child. And since emotional maturity or a lack of it can be investigated in a natal chart by studying the Moon's condition, this post is my attempt to do so. But I wish to add that yes, Mr. Trump does possess political talent (stationary Jupiter trine Uranus separating in his natal chart but applying to their trine now by progression) and he does wish to contribute to society (Moon inconjunct Saturn).

Yet it remains to be seen whether his emotions are steady enough (Mars rising) and his distorted thinking and tenuous relationship with facts (Mercury square Neptune) can be restrained and balanced by maturity so that a higher evolutionary road can be taken by this shrewd man who longs to crown his life by playing the archetypal role of plutocrat president just as his Solar Arc Pluto conjoins natal Jupiter @17Libra.

Long-Distance Observing RNC 2016 from Way Down in Georgia

Blaming Hillary for the American deaths during the 2012 Benghazi attack had a devastating affect on the convention attendees and I wonder how much coverage the news media will give a grieving mother's tearful presentation as the convention goes on this week. This could be an early example of plutonian vibes with the Underworld energies of fatality, fear, violence, and propaganda peaking tomorrow evening on some level as the Full Moon perfects while simultaneously spotlighting US natal Pluto in Capricorn, ruled by conservative Saturn, planet of accountability.

And since I'm typing out loud, I've often wondered if the job description of the US presidency includes Willingness to Commit Mass Murder. You know, like when an imperial power invades, occupies, and bombs another country and destroys the families who live there? Perhaps they tuck that inconvenient question under the category of Foreign Policy experience.

You couldn't miss the news that tomorrow, July 19, 2016, the 2016 Republican National Convention opens in Cleveland, Ohio with the true face of the Republican Party revealed in part by the nomination of Donald Trump (the Klan takes the White House??) and the necessarily "Trumpified" Republican platform which is avoidable in order to continue scamming Trump supporters into voting for Nationalism in November:

One illogical discrepancy that keeps bothering me about Trump voters is that Trump wants more militarization of police, more authoritarianism, while many of his supporters keep weapons and ammo ready in case the government comes after them. These folks seem to think that a militarized police force is a good thing that will never be used against them! Am I missing something?

Today is Thursday July 14th, the radio is on, and as I await Herman Cain's live call-in interview with Donald Trump at 11:00 am this morning, I peek at the horoscope for Trump's VP announcement said to be scheduled for tomorrow July 15th at 11:00 am (NYC). Hints suggest will be Indiana Governor Mike Pence because his name isn't on the RNC 2016 speakers list.

Update 1:00 pm edt: WSB Radio reports that Mike Pence is Trump's VP choice.

Later update: Trump canceled due to the attack in Nice, France and won't confirm Mike Pence as VP pick. Changeable Gemini.

Note: Trump and Cain (natal Saturn-Pluto = Mars, and Trump is nothing if he isn't Mars-and-Regulus-rising) spoke for about 13 minutes on what Trump will do for America, the Justice Ginsburg diss and apology, and the importance of nominating conservatives on the Supreme Court; he also mentioned tomorrow's VP announcement at 11:00 am.

For me, two chart factors stand out: 1. the trio of Mars (24Sco40), Moon (2Sag54), and Saturn (10Sag25 Rx) which create a difficult midpoint picture suggesting loss, moodiness, depression, and/or a weak will (Ebertin; Tyl), plus, '1Sag' is the "A Grand army of the Republic Campfire" degree.

If we turn to Michael Munkasey's midpoints, we find potentials for: anger over restrictions, fluctuations of energy levels, development of courage or strength, and/or an awareness of the need to restrain impulsive activity (my guess with a VP Pence) though who can say if Pence, Gingrich, or anyone as VP can moderate the actions, rash emotions, and indisretion of Mr. Trump. As you know, the Mars-Saturn duo indicates such things as: destructive energy, using force when restraint is required, taking what belongs to another, persistent wars, use of strife and struggle, demands to halt armaments, frustrations imposed by or upon criminal elements, plus, Mars-Saturn marks the death axis in a horoscope. Needless to say, any Moon is a very uncomfortable Moon when she's between Mars and Saturn, and a mundane Moon in American charts = We the People. This midpoint picture suggests the warring implications as mentioned, above, including the further militarization of police forces.

Chart factor 2. At Midheaven, the WHY? Point of any horoscope, on Friday July 15, 2016 at 11:00 am edt NYC is 25Gem18, the precise degree of Donald Trump's New Moon announcement of his presidential run on the morning of June 16, 2015. You'll remember that Mr. Trump used an agency to round up audience members and paid them each $50 to be there for his announcement and pretend to be in favor of it.

As Mr. Trump has said, he's only the messenger, and this assertion (which I've heard him say myself) is supported by the Gemini New Moon that began his campaign yet this necessarily begs the question: exactly whose message is he delivering? Perhaps we'll find out during the RNC and the RNC Full Moon of fulfillment and culmination which conjoins America's natal Pluto in Capricorn, significator of The Dictator who destroys so that he can rebuild anew upon the ruins.

Suitable for children, check out these Fun Facts about Governor Mike Pence born June 7, 1959 Columbus, IN, a Sun Gemini like Mr. Trump as is Newt Gingrich who also shares Trump's Sagittarian Moon--too much alike? Well, as for Mars and Saturn, Pence has them inconjunct which indicates that he's easy to intimidate, something Trump excels in and what Gingrich doesn't have. Plus, if Mr. Pence was born between 12:00 am and 12:44 pm CDT, his Moon is also in Gemini along with his Mercury--and all are grouped near Mr. Trump's natal Gemini placements. That's an abundance of wheeler-dealer Gemini, sign of The Messenger, which may provide excitement yet is unstable, changeable, and sometimes duplicitous.

Pence, Gingrich--and perhaps I should add today's Crazy Rumor which surely will be dispelled when Trump speaks tomorrow at 11:00 am or so: Rush Limbaugh for VP! The White House as right wing radio show? Please don't stay home on November 8th. Please.

Clinton vs Trump: the New and Full Moons of July 2016

Anyone who pays attention to a combination of Politics and lunations has marked July 2016 as quite an interesting month with a New Moon for America's Solar Return on July 4th and the New Moon's culmination, a Full Moon @27Capricorn conjunct US natal Pluto that perfects during the Republican National Convention--on the RNC's 2nd day, July 19th, to be precise. Will Pluto add violence, transformation, power, sabotage, wealth--or some combination of each to the political events of July 2016? Can NeverTrumpers shut him out of the process? Will the GOP stop pretending Trump's bigotry isn't their own deep down inside?

Previously I had typed aloud whether the Gemini New Moon imprinted upon Mr. Trump's presidential bid announcement of June 16, 2015 would somehow crescendo, culminate, and/or fulfill at the RNC Full Moon of July 19th...in a political sense, that is. Cosmically, the July 4th New Moon @12Cancer (conjunct US natal Sun, leadership) is the seeding stage for projects and activities that will come to fruition on July 19th during the RNC and it will be interesting to see how the Cancer-Capricorn energies of New and Full Moons play out for Donald Trump and for our nation. This is assuming that his candidacy isn't aborted prior to or during the convention. Apparently, security, domestic, business and career matters are on the agenda and, until about September 1st, we're still under the auspices of the March 9, 2016 Solar Eclipse with its themes of separations, partings, and endings (18Pis55; Brady).

Plus, as reported in the news, Hillary Clinton's approval ratings are said to be widening lately, inspired perhaps by candidate Trump's lack of professionalism, disdain for ads and staffing, sketchy campaign funds, and...er...other issues that are interfering with his smoothly sailing into the Republican nomination in the way he had expected given his overbearing lead in the Republican field. Unless the whole scheme is a sham intended to elect a baggage laden lady president!

Now during DNC 2016 a lunation perfects as well: on July 26th at 6:59 pm there's a Quarter Moon (Sun @4Leo square Moon @4Taurus), a Fire-Earth combo of Fixed energies with 'staying power' that curiously enough is the natal Sun-Moon blend of her husband, former President Bill Clinton, master Leonine showman. Guess his DNC 2016 speech will seem like old times to many of us! Yet he'll appear onstage with what some say may be a difficult job--to sell President Hillary Clinton to the American people.

Therefore, let's consider what could be two clues hidden within the Sun Leo-Moon Taurus blend during DNC 2016 for it contains a couple of interesting Images for Integration, according to Charles and Suzi Harvey in their excellent Sun Sign-Moon Sign book. Perhaps you'll agree that the word pictures apply to Bill's DNC 2016 task:

Horoscopes: RNC and DNC July 2016

As always, my only nag in the race is America and as you know, in Mundane Astrology the Moon represents The Public whose favor and approval can fluctuate in the blink of an eye. So with the fast approaching Republican and Democratic National Conventions in July 2016, let's track the Moon through her zodiacal signs during the party nomination processes searching for lunar clues concerning public mood, sentiment, and popular trends in relation to Campaign 2016 and the presidential nominees who, here in late May, seem to be pre-selected.

For both events you see expansive Jupiter conjoining fixed star Denebola (21Virgo) with key words: out of the mainstream; to go against society which shows 'the outsider' quality of this election, a requirement of Venus as Evening Star, and one which can be satisfied by a victory for Hillary Clinton (a female), Bernie Sanders (a Democratic Socialist and Independent), or Donald Trump (a self-declared non-politician).

First up are the Republicans: RNC July 18--21, 2016 (Cleveland, Ohio). (For the DNC July 25--28, 2016 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, see below). Besides the Capricorn Full Moon of Tuesday July 19th, a few other lunar events and aspects will be briefly mentioned as we sail through the signs with Luna, the astrological significator of emotions, feelings, needs, trends, publicity, and popularity. For the time frame, we're symbolically using the first day of each convention at 12:00 am until the last day of each convention at 11:59 pm--to represent each event in its entirety and to cover all possible signs of the Moon from start to finish. The 'last day' 11:00 pm charts are shown, below.

Note that the Sun remains in Cancer during the RNC and in Leo during the DNC, with Cancer ruled by the Moon, Leo ruled by the Sun; brief notes on the changing Sun-Moon blends are included as well as the Pre-Natal Solar Eclipse (18 South) which influences both conventions with 'separations, endings, partings' vibes.

RNC 2016: Monday July 18th 12:00 am: the Moon begins @4Cap28 (Sun 25Can57) giving the public at home and in the audience a serious tone of ambition and practicality with duties taken seriously (Capricorn is the sign of government, law, and business; tribal Cancer denotes home but also business); a Moon-Saturn tone indicates that some frigidity of feeling may be in evidence, if not onstage or in the audience, then behind the curtain. Monday July 18th also contains a Moon-Pluto flavor as the Moon conjoins transit Pluto at 9:24 pm (15Cap56). In Politics, a Moon-Pluto signature describes potentials for the misuse of resources in business and/or political activities, and/or campaign promises concerning the use of the military and/or police, plus, underworld criminal elements such as mobsters, fraud, waste, women's issues, and/or hidden wealth (Munkasey); (Cowell).

Actually, across the Cancer-Capricorn security axis, a doubling of Moon-Pluto vibes occurs on July 19th for a Full Moon @27Cap40 perfects and conjoins US natal Pluto (27Cap33) suggesting potentials for military and/or police involvement during the convention (or rhetoric about such topics), violence and/or criminal behavior, terrorism, paid protesters disrupting events, intense emotions such as rage or jealousy, hurled insults, hidden string-pulling, mass media and a very large amount of publicity. (Moon-Pluto = public relations; mass propaganda; a need for power.) Plus, with Moon-Pluto, a 'demanding tyrant' may be on the scene. This is supported by transit Pluto in Saturn-ruled Capricorn which can express as The Dictator (Ebertin).

That the Full Moon's Sun opposes US natal Pluto @27Cap33 (and US SP Pluto @29Cap, a critical degree) hints at what we know to be the case: major power plays are in progress. The July 19th Full Moon may potentially reveal secrets much as a Lunar Eclipse can do and may involve the Pentagon and/or may place plutocrats (Pluto) in the public spotlight, and highlight misogyny, point to abortion issues, and/or uncover past abuses of women. Simultaneously, transit Pluto squares US natal Saturn (14Lib48), a time when motives must be aboveboard, and restriction and criticism occur due to our government's ruthless abuse of power and authority.

RNC 2016: Two Sun-Moon Blends

So RNC 2016 opens with a pragmatic, muddy Water-Earth Sun Cancer-Moon Capricorn blend of the progressive traditionalist who knows how to appeal to the masses and can drive a hard bargain. Shrewd in business, smoothing the way for others is one this blend's aims along with following established protocol while looking toward the future. That Donald Trump can fit into such 'established protocol' remains to be seen but he has assured us that he can morph into something 'presidential'--spoken like a true thespian of the shape-shifting Gemini persuasion, one who is full of Mars-Rising self-confidence (on the outside, at least.)

Once the Moon enters Aquarius on July 19th (11:10 pm edt), convention vibes morph into a misty Water-Air blend of Sun Cancer-Moon Aquarius, a more visionary combination of energies. Yet heart and head may be at odds with this blend along with an urge to 'upset the apple cart', as they say. Yet there is warmth of feeling here along with interests in home, family, and ancestral heritage, plus, an ability to practice Politics by what can be described as "a people person" (Harveys). Reaching out to the public and the forceful communication of ideas with passion and conviction are notable. Gregarious yet private, this blend allows a continual redefining of the personality and integrity along with a talent for creating magic for or upon the public.

By July 21st, the last night of RNC 2016, the Sun reaches the critical 29th degree of Cancer (+45m) spotlighting its interesting Sabian Symbol (when rounded up to '30Cancer'): "A Daughter of the American Revolution" = GLORIFICATION OF THE PAST (Rudhyar). The Republican Party certainly is determined on that even though it's an irrational head-against-brick-wall effort since the Great Cosmic Clock cannot be turned back to the 1850s or the 1950s! However, Mr. Trump's slogan, Make America Great Again, implies a link to our country's past and fits this symbol quite well. Of course, I assume that the RNC will not 'steal' the nomination from him by July!

Additionally on the evening of July 21st, America experiences a Lunar Return @27AQ at 11:36:19 pm edt which underscores our natal lunar aspects of July 4, 1776 (past history!) and the Thor's Hammer pattern (aka, a Fist of God) in our natal chart (I use 5:09 pm LMT with 12Sag rising, Jupiter ruling) with the Sun-Saturn square at its base (Cancer to Libra) pointing toward our natal Moon (We the People). My reading is that the Sun-Saturn square represents the three branches of government: Sun = the president, Saturn = lawmakers (Congress) and law interpreters (SCOTUS) with the power of the executive branch restricted (square = blockage) by the other branches--and vice versa. That's our founding checks'n'balances tradition, at least, before anti-government infiltrators meddled and the White House under Bush-Cheney wrongly engaged in preemptive war, among other unlawful things. In some cases, President Obama may have overstepped his bounds, too.

So! RNC 2016 is cosmically emphasized by a Capricorn Full Moon and a US Lunar Return, its dates possibly chosen for these planetary reasons. And it seems significant that Donald Trump announced his presidential bid on June 16, 2015 under the auspices of a New Moon @25Gemini07 (a new cycle of activity for him) and his political endeavor may culminate or pay off under the RNC Full Moon in Capricorn with the RNC's intense Moon-Pluto flavors of passion and possibly of violence. Now the Gemini-to-Capricorn lunations may be only a quixotic notion of his (or of mine!) but his 'Announcement New Moon' of The Messenger, Gemini (sign of his natal Sun, North Node, and Uranus), certainly seems about to bear Oval Office fruit--or at least provide the Big Opportunity for Mr. Trump's enlarged ego to pick a ripe one with his very own tiny little hands.

History of The Republican Party.

Here are both last-night horoscopes set for 11:00 pm edt (around the time when nominees' names are usually announced--or they've given their acceptance speeches): lower left = RNC Thursday July 21, 2016 11:00 pm edt; upper right = DNC Thursday July 28, 2016 11:00 pm edt; as you see, the current Solar Eclipse @18Pis55 rises in the RNC chart and is intercepted in the 12th house of Politics in the DNC chart which suggests the possibility of some sort of fated separation or parting taking place behind closed doors:

Now we mosey to Philadelphia where DNC 2016 begins Monday July 25th (12:00 am edt through Thursday July 28th 11:59 pm edt) with the Sun in early Leo (conjunct President Obama's natal Mercury--he will speak at DNC, of course) and the ever-changing Moon @9Aries02. Note that Aries is Bernie Sanders' natal Moon sign though it could possibly be Hillary Clinton's Moon sign, too, if her birth time is later than advertised. Interesting that the Moon will soon contact '11 Aries' which in Sabian Symbols is, "The Ruler of a Nation" (Rudhyar) or "The President of the Country" (Jones). For public sentiment, Moon in Mars-ruled Aries indicates an eager mood of impulsive or stirred up emotions and excited women. And we may hear Hillary bring up the "I am one of you with my modest beginnings" assertion though to me it sounds more sincere coming from Brooklyn-ite Bernie Sanders.

Tuesday July 26th: at 11:37 am, the Moon leaves Aries and enters Venus-ruled Taurus, its sign of exaltation, then on Wednesday July 27th at 9:55 pm, Luna will return to natal degree of former President Bill Clinton (20Tau18), a Lunar Return--with Jupiter trining his Moon along with Pluto so that a practical Earth Grand Trine is formed indicating a comforting power of attraction. This trine is a closed circuit of energies and hints at 'powerful builders' on the material plane, those who can consolidate vast resources until solid gains are made (Tierney).

Yet the course of the Moon (reigning need - Tyl) has obstacles in its path via two squares from Mercury @25Leo44 (5A26) and Venus @10Leo28 (0A49) indicating conflicting opinions (Mercury) and a need to adopt another's perspectives (Venus) which I read as Hillary's adoption (in her rhetoric, at least) of the more progressive views of Senator Bernie Sanders.

To hear very clearly another candidate's perspectives which political pundits say are causing Hillary to lean Left, check out the rousing speech of Bernie Sanders at his Bakersfield, California rally on May 28, 2016.

And of course, Mercury represents young people (such as Millennial voters who prefer Senator Sanders in great numbers) and/or students of student loan fame. Lady Venus on one level may represent women or people involved in professions such as entertainment or the beauty industry, or who work in financial and/or teaching fields. 'If' Hillary is the nominee, she'll need to make some adjustments in her campaign promises which is supported or triggered by the chart's Moon phase of 3rd quarter, the crisis in consciousness phase.

Now here are brief notes on the three Sun-Moon blends that form during DNC 2016:

Monday July 25th: Sun Leo-Moon Aries (Fire-Fire): passionate, ambitious, dictatorial, a social conscience yet self-centered; adventurous, extroverted, a daring gambler, wants to improve things and takes charge. Cautions are to avoid grandiosity, rashness, and recklessness. (This blend may describe the environment on the first day and/or someone who takes charge of the proceedings, possibly DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz).

Tuesday July 26th -- Wednesday July 27th: Sun Leo-Moon Taurus (Fire-Earth): a showman, regal, dictatorial, loyal yet self-seeking, magnetic, generous, powerseeking, a good administrator, intensely stubborn, self-confident with a "splashy personality," reliable, sincere and courageous, shrewdly commercial, a big thinker. Cautions are vanity, inflexibility, subjectivity, and a lack of cooperation.

Thursday July 28th: Sun Leo-Moon Gemini (Fire-Air): humorous, analytical, restless, sociable, organizing skills, youthful, purposeful yet playful, ambitious, adaptable, a quick learner, intuitive, friendly, quick witted, perennial student, persuasive communicator with a social conscience, an optimistic opportunist. Cautions are restlessness, emotional fickleness, and a tendency to over-rationalize.

Mask off! For Sun Leo-Moon Gemini is the natal personality blend of Barack Obama! And he has a Moon Return (3Gemini) during the last day of DNC 2016.

Now you see in the DNC chart a 'YOD pattern' as long as we're willing to count the Midheaven (MC, the Goal/Career Point @6Cap27) as the place where the Sun-Moon sextile (60 degr) at its base can express (in Career). At the Sun-Moon midpoint conjunct the IC, I wrote, "Sun-Moon = Hill and Bill?" because I think it does represent them and their marriage, a partnership of power. Also at IC is US natal Jupiter @6Cancer with its telling Sabian Symbol, "Game Birds Feathering Their Nests", a word picture from 1776 speaks for itself, agreed? Say what you will about the Clintons returning to the White House with all their tiresome baggage (that the GOP will never shut up about), since leaving the White House in January 2001, their speaking careers and the Clinton Foundation have been very lucrative for them and their family.

Now on the right side of the chart you see my scribbles of "YOD: Sun-Moon = MC: husband and wife, and Sun-Moon = US natal Jupiter: joint success" (Ebertin), with a YOD denoting 'a special task, turning point, or crossroads' within this midpoint picture. Return of the Power Couple is apparently the Clintons' goal. The question of a crime syndicate coming along with them is beyond the scope of this post--besides the US is infested with criminal syndicates already. However, I consider the two political parties as factions of a ruling elite with each group determined to control the American branch of Global Government, and it will probably make little if any difference to the fate of the American people whether a Republican or a Democrat is selected by higher-ups to steer our sinking ship, the military arm of said Government.

As for the upcoming transfer of power, a clue is found via the transiting Saturn-Neptune midpoint (26Cap+) now conjoining US natal Pluto which sits atop the Inauguration 2017 horoscope with potentials for feeling downtrodden (Tyl), and denials of guilt from responsible parties (Munkasey).

Now there are two societal conditions that need serious addressing but will the new boss be same as the old? Yes, unless it's President Bernie Sanders. But how many sold-out politicians do you think would cooperate with him?

In closing, I want to say that whoever moves into the Venusian Oval Office on January 20, 2017, the opposite party should consider one thing--that all their sore-loser criticisms and undermining of the presidency simultaneously undermines the United States of America. So as was not done during the presidency of Barack Obama, please think thrice before you determine upon our national failure because your treason is showing.

Corporations Fund Both Party Conventions, Reap Huge Rewards - clip (and a Full Moon)

With both the RNC and the DNC stalking us in July, 2016, isn't it comforting to know who funds and thereby benefits financially from these massive Political Theater stage shows? No, they aren't demonstrations of 'democracy at work', they're more signs of Corporatism and political propaganda of The Establishment at work, balloons and all. And who can resist festive balloons?

In case you missed it, have a look at the horoscope of the Full Moon conjunct US natal Pluto in governmental Capricorn which perfects on July 19th during RNC 2016. The RNC Full Moon could be the fulfillment of the Gemini New Moon that occurred on June 16, 2015, the day that Donald Trump announced his 2016 bid for the GOP nomination and it will probably merit the RNC with greater publicity than the DNC will receive.

So will Mr. Trump's new cycle of political activity (New Moon) be fulfilled or culminate at the July Full Moon? Actually, Quicken Loans may know something about the possibility of a Trump nomination in Cleveland, while Wells Fargo goes on to toast the Democratic nominee in Philadelphia. We'll suffer the same old corporate fraud and mismanagement either way unless Bernie Sanders is the nominee.

But sorry to say, how a President Sanders could manage to turn America away from its corporate Global Government course that has simmered so long in the Utopian visionary cauldron is any citizen's fervent dream...assuming that that is what he wants to achieve.

Washington DC Horoscope of Inauguration 2017

For Inauguration 2017 (January 20, noon EST, Capitol Building), the American people may expect a horoscope and planets that look like this:

Providing the cosmic conditions for the 2017 Oath of Office and the 4-year term of the next president is a 5th house Solar Eclipse @9Virgo and if you're curious, here is a previous post concerning this 19 North Solar Eclipse which describes background influences for both Election 2016 in November and Inauguration 2017 in January. According to 19 North it's time to 'tackle the truth' though with our nation's capital city running on lies and deceit we must wonder how politicians will deal with such a frightful experience of the truth getting out. Unless, that is, the presidential victor is one of 'the outsiders' like Trump or Sanders. For my dime I prefer plain speaking Bernie Sanders over showman Donald Trump whose Mercury-Neptune distortions of facts and indiscretion are well known now in April 2016. Plus, Mr. Trump may not make it beyond the RNC 2016 nominating process so we'll see if any other truth tellers come forth for consideration in July and on November 8, 2016. After all, there will be a Capricorn Full Moon during RNC 2016 so facts and secret information may be cast into the public spotlight, and very inconveniently for some.

Another caution in the truth-telling department is that deceptive Neptune @10Pisces is the chart's and the inauguration's final dispositor--everything comes back to Neptune which is not a stable planet--strong and contagious in its own sign--on which to pin our hopes for increased realism and truth. Actually, stark Saturn favors realism, truth, and accountability and there he is in the 8th house of Corporatism near the political asteroid Juno. Conservative Saturn can be quite doubtful and doubt-provoking when in Sagittarius (sign of the truth seeker!) and often describes those with a strong sense of justice, prudence, and possessing legal talents. Will this be enough to satisfy the impetus of the 19 North Solar Eclipse?

Looking back, 19 North is the Pre-Natal Eclipse Series of America's Great Seal (June 20, 1782), the Republican Party (July 6, 1854), and Inauguration 1981 of Ronald Reagan. Quite a trio! And not necessarily a trio of realism and tru...you know.

So as you see in the horoscope, the Oath of Office will be taken during an active Hour of Mars, and there's a Bowl shape to the planets with the 6th house Jupiter in Libra in the lead. This shows a Jupiterian person who advocates for a cause, deals with needs, and is challenged by the empty area of the chart--here, it's Taurus through Virgo which includes America's natal Uranus and Mars in Gemini, our Venus, Jupiter, Sun, and Mercury in Cancer, and our natal Neptune in Virgo (sign of The Worker and Critic.) A major agenda has the next president but don't they all? Yet we know that global government types bedevil the American people who prefer the nation-state we're accustomed to! It's a long process forcing something upon people who say, No Thank You, and the Hegelian Dialect has been one of their favorite methods as the power elite 'solve' the very problems they themselves created and engineered.

As for Jupiter in Libra, we know that this placement denotes a strong sense of justice and fair play. An example is Mr. Trump whose natal Jupiter in Libra is quick to shout, "it's not fair!" when things aren't going his way. So we may be tempted to prognosticate Mr. Trump as our next president due to his Jupiter Return/s (17Lib27 Rx) which manifest three times: December 4, 2016, April 13, 2017 (Rx), and August 4, 2017. This should be a time of rewards for him.

However, there are other transits causing frustration such as disruptive, rebellious Uranus in Aries opposing Trump's natal Jupiter (a money planet that also relates to thespians and politicians--his Gemini Sun is an actor and a juggler.) Plus, there's a square from transit Pluto in Capricorn to his natal Jupiter. This imposing square denotes that his exaggerations of self-importance bring obstacles to his political aims and are not favored by those with more power and influence. In short, the ongoing Uranus-Pluto square in Cardinal signs has engaged his Jupiter off and on so I'm guessing it's the dynamic T-Square the trio forms which played a part in encouraging him to (finally) make a run for the presidency.

So let's not redecorate the Oval Office in gold gilt just yet! For on the cosmic agenda in 2017 Mr. Trump will experience difficult transits to his natal Sun-Moon opposition: truth-bringer Saturn will conjoin natal Moon @21Sag and oppose his natal Sun @22Gemini during his three-fer Jupiter Return. Ouch! These are periods when one's ego, integrity, leadership, and generosity are challenged by those with more power and seniority, and feelings of emotional deprivation and loss bring worries, depression, and a potential for illness. Now some pundits say that Donald Trump doesn't actually want the job of president and with this doubly difficult transit coming it seems to me that if he's (s)elected, the restrictions of living in the White House and the rigors of the job itself will be greatly disappointing for his nibs--in part, thanks to old man Saturn affecting his natal Full Moon. Personal relationships and family may be affected as well and it will take other more positive planetary input to relieve these stresses along with a letup of Saturnian energies thanks to retrograde periods which will allow some respite.

Now I didn't intend to type this much about one 2016 candidate but there it is. I compose at-keyboard so I'll not delete my Trump remarks now. However, we should consider the applying aspects of chart-ruler Venus @17Pisces, a critical degree, in the wishful 11th house of Groups and Alliances (where 'she' usually is at inauguration time: money/relationship planet Venus is exalted in Pisces, as you know.) There are two Ptolemaic aspects made by Venus in the horoscope that give hints as to how the 4-year presidential term will proceed:

First, Venus squares restrictive Saturn (5A46) which is in a Money House, the 8th, as noted above. This suggests difficulties in cooperative endeavors and in gaining favor and/or material assets, and a preference for isolation instead of attending social events. Legal matters, debates, and taking on responsibilities may not bring satisfying results, or the costs may simply be too high. Rough sailing? Yes, but things can still work out okay in the end especially for the win-win class of power elites.

Next, Venus conjoins Mars (6A37), a transit denoting joint efforts with partners and/or allies are pleasant as is travel--perhaps Air Force One is suggested since luxury travel is indicated and a meeting is in the cards. Is this a lady (Venus) president meeting with the guys? Perhaps. A reporter (perhaps Robert Costas on MSNBC?) said this week that Wall Street titans "are not afraid of what Hillary will do" if she's elected, whereas Bernie Sanders--well, that's a candidate of a different stripe all together, isn't it?!

The July 2016 Capricorn Full Moon sextiles Priebus' natal Sun (as does US natal Pluto) which suggests that any GOP nomination upsets will be under his control and/or won't interfere with his reputation (Sun), no matter what he or Donald Trump say about each other! Of course, we may expect that powerful forces behind the scenes (or abroad) signified by US Pluto will accompany any aid that Chairman Priebus receives as he attempts to herd those scrappy Republican cats in July. The RNC Full Moon conjunct US natal Pluto makes me wonder if plutonian sabotage lurks in July amidst the Republican National Convention in order to avoid a Trump nomination! Of course, Pluto can also denote violence out of control and during RNC 2016 the spotlight of a Saturn-ruled Full Moon will shine upon manipulative Pluto. As you know, Reinhold Ebertin says that one of the roles of Pluto in governmental Capricorn plays is The Dictator and this (as America nears her first-ever Pluto Return/s, three times exact in 2022) seems part of an ongoing campaign of sorts to totally take over the US government. Does Trump campaign rhetoric sometimes seem to drift into 'take-over the country' territory? For me it does, but you decide for yourself, as always. I am open to changing my mind about a lot of things.

You know, much stranger things have happened in politics and the Republican National Convention in July 2016 is imprinted auspiciously by a Full Moon of fulfillment and culmination which will bring the event a large amount of publicity and may act in a Uranian fashion similar to an eclipse as it spotlights and reveals something unpredictable and/or novel. That something could be a someone such as Speaker Paul Ryan. Or....?

A Brief Peek at RNC 2016 Through an Astrological Lens

Assuming that the Republican National Convention of 2016 is held as planned from July 18--21 in Cleveland, Ohio, here is the horoscope of the Full Moon that will perfect on July 19 at 6:56:32 pm EDT in that city, during that political convention and noting that Full Moons can affect events in unexpected ways as significantly as 'wild card' eclipses:

As you see the Hour is Mercurial and chart-ruler Jupiter @19Vir57 is in his own 9th house of Ideology, Philosophy, and Foreign Affairs but makes no major applying aspects to other planets--unless you wish to count an opposition to Chiron @25Pis01 Rx in the 3rd house of Communications. Chiron in Pisces represents mentors and gurus so perhaps this is significant considering how bought off most politicians are. And expansive Jupiter is a quite corporatist himself (as as Republicans) and can signify several other roles in society such as politician, banker, religious leader, broadcaster, and/or The General.

And when in Mercury-ruled Virgo, Jupiter is an excessively ambitious organizer who doesn't mind using superficial criticism to get his point across. He can possess moral values and follow ethics but materialism may take the lead. This Jupiter is no longer the lead planet in a Locomotive pattern of the high-powered executive, by the way, for this chart has the shape of a Seesaw indicating a weighing of pros vs cons approach of constant conflict which supports the possibility recently touted that the Republican Party may end up with a brokered convention (first time since 1976); (edit: it didn't). Reporters are giddy over the prospect as I type (12.13.16) and this is said to be due to...you guessed it...the popularity of Donald Trump, the guy the power elite would like to jettison from consideration, thank you very much. At least, that's the line being sold by pundits these days. Of course, Mr. Trump may not be a political candidate by July 2016 so don't fuss at me if his candidacy is moot by then! (edit: he wasn't moot and was selected to play president in order to undermine the institution and milk the cash cow dry).

So if we look at the chart (enlarge to read my notes if you wish) we find planetary patterns of interest. In turquoise (or aqua) I have marked a KITE pattern which includes the Moon and Sun, activist Mars @25Sco39 in 11th house of Groups, and Chiron already noted in 3rd house. KITEs suggest success ('high-flying') yet for that Chiron might be better replaced by a planet (you'll want to refer to other astrologers who have more recent info on Chiron, the Wounded Healer, than what I have.) All I can say is that a mentor or mentors (edit: or a Russian leader?) are aiding the GOP with their high-flying White House ambitions, financially and otherwise. Successful teamwork is denoted by Mars (ASC-MC = Mars) and of course, there's the culminating Full Moon @27Cap40 conjunct US natal Pluto (27Cap33 Rx) denoting fulfillment but also endings of relationships (see chart for themes of the PE in the 18 South Saros Series.) I usually take Pluto to represent hidden manipulators and puppet masters of the secret society persuasion but natal Pluto at can on one level, also stand for the Pentagon ('28Cap' = "A Large Aviary"). With US natal Uranus and Mars in the 6th house of Military and Police Service, a Pentagon influence on the nomination seems even more likely.

Another prominent planetary pattern (highlighted in orange) is a Cardinal Grand Cross--but only if we allow the Midheaven (MC) as the 4th point. In a case like a political convention I prefer to use the MC as the outlet for expression of the energies of the Full Moon which squares Uranus at IC and listed on the chart you see my paraphrase of Ebertin's description of Uranus in Aries: rebels, zealots, anarchists, Utopians which I have taken to mean (since 2010--transit Uranus to Aries Point = US natal IC) the tea party contrarians and anti-government shutdown artists who have infiltrated the US Congress such as the hammy Mr. Cruz. Of course, Mr. Trump may be part of the anarchy, too, given the way he has so far shaken things up--but this is significant only if he's still in the game by convention time.

So as you can tell, I'm reading the Full Moon horoscope as a representative of Republican National Convention 2016--can you blame me? The Democrats don't get a Full Moon for their 2016 convention (July 25- 28, Philadelphia, PA), only a 4th quarter Moon, the 'crisis in consciousness' phase. We'll have to discuss more about the DNC 2016 later on but for now, why not marvel at the GOP Full Moon conjunct US natal Pluto which is perhaps a signal for terrorist events that Republicans will tactically propagandize across their echo chambers in an attempt to frighten US voters into putting alleged safety over best interests by voting Republican in spite of the anti-government ideals they represent. In Campaign 2016 the Rs can't divulge what policies they really have in mind or no American would vote for them--ever!

Actually, the terror-touting has already begun since the Paris and San Bernadino attacks of 2015 and the tactic (which got them elected before) is paying off for the GOP in higher poll numbers if you can believe mainstream media reporting. I don't. But you can if you really want to. This is 'free' America after all.

UPDATE Jan 26, 2016: Trump, Cruz, Kasich

Well, Mr. Trump not only remains in the race, he continues to lead in various polls. Now it's Senator Ted Cruz that establishment Republicans are anxious to jettison--he, whom everyone dislikes, the flame thrower who'd like to burn Washington DC down to the ground and start over according to know-it-all Senator Green Eggs' theocratic specifications. It's tricky because both Trump and Cruz are pied pipers with plenty of supporters in the audience if not in the voting booth. But soon (Feb 1) the first primary will separate Republican candidates into plausible and implausible on a day that the Moon goes void-of-course at 7:35 pm (est) so the name of the victor will be 'baked into the cake', as political pundits like to say, before all the ballots are counted (which may take all night). Yes, Trump has an edge yet John Kasich is looking stronger as an establishment candidate and town hall audience pleaser. Can Kasich go national? His Sun Taurus-Moon Capricorn has the pragmatism and practicality needed to run corporate America but perhaps a lack of a connection to US natal Moon in Aquarius is missing unless we count his Pluto @19Leo opposing visionary Aquarius.

Still, it's curious that Kasich announced his nomination bid on July 21, 2015 with Mercury, planet of announcements, messages, plans, and deals, @26Cancer...conjunct US natal Mercury Rx, and his natal Uranus @11Cancer falls within the midst of America's Venus-Jupiter-Sun line-up. It will surprise me if these links are enough to pull off a victory for John Kasich unless the power elite who select our presidents decide he's their best bet for following the global government script.
