Headed for China: the August 1 Solar Eclipse

Space Weather News for July 31, 2008

SOLAR ECLIPSE: On Friday, August 1st, the Moon will pass directly in front of the Sun producing a total solar eclipse. The narrow path of totality stretches from arctic Canada through Greenland, Siberia, and Mongolia, and comes to an end in China where millions of people will witness the event.

Even more people will see the partial eclipse, visible from almost all of Europe, the Middle East, India, Asia and a corner of North America.

The action begins at approximately 09:20 UT (5:20 am EDT) when the Moon's shadow first hits Earth in northern Canada and begins its rapid sweep toward China.

Visit SpaceWeather.com for photos, webcasts, timetables and full coverage of the eclipse. #

On August 17, 2007 I wrote a post about the NYSE's Pre-Natal Eclipse Series - which repeats tomorrow, Aug 1, 2008, along with a few notes from astrologer Sybil Leek concerning Neptune in Scorpio, sign of big business and marking the start of living beyond one's means bwo credit cards, plus some comments on Ben Bernanke. (Given today's financial mess the 'experts' have dumped us in, I want to type Stanky Bernanke but guess I'd better not. What then would I call the rest of 'em?)

Anyway, here's the post link if you'd like to peruse:

Obama and McCain enlist meltdown culprits

Obama and McCain Suck Up to the Bankers

By Robert Scheer

Both of our leading presidential candidates are scrambling to enlist not only the big-dollar contributions but, more frighteningly, the "expertise" of the very folks who advocated the financial industry deregulations at the heart of this meltdown.

"What is it about George W. Bush that makes you want to serve him?"

Justice Officials Repeatedly Broke Law on Hiring, Report Says July 28, 2008

Former Justice Department counselor Monica M. Goodling and former chief of staff D. Kyle Sampson routinely broke the law by conducting political litmus tests on candidates for jobs as immigration judges and line prosecutors, according to an inspector general's report released today.

Goodling passed over hundreds of qualified applicants and squashed the promotions of others after deeming candidates insufficiently loyal to the Republican party, said investigators, who interviewed 85 people and received information from 300 other job seekers at Justice.

Sampson developed a system to screen immigration judge candidates based on improper political considerations and routinely took recommendations from the White House Office of Political Affairs and Presidential Personnel, the report said. Goodling regularly asked candidates for career jobs, "What is it about George W. Bush that makes you want to serve him?" the report said.#

Oh don't encourage me to answer that one! Heil? -jc

August 1 Eclipse scares up: The Mummy!

The Mummy is being released on August 1, the very day of the Solar Eclipse from the 10 South Series.

The Pluto-inspired The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor looks pretty good in the trailer so I've provided a link for viewing it in the above post along with Eclipse details in case you've missed them. Pluto, the Dragon is rising, it seems...along with China whose symbol is The Dragon.

Egypt seizes Israeli radioactive cargo July 28, 2008

Egypt has refused to allow entry to an Israeli truck carrying 3.5 tone of ceramics after high radiation levels were detected in the shipment. Egyptian officials seized the goods at the Al-Oja border crossing after radiation detection equipment showed a high presence of radioactive material in the cargo, a security official told AFP. A special team from the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority (EAEA) was expected to inspect the shipment immediately, he added.#

An Elegant Kitten Barack

A new political cat limerick has now been published at Lim's Limericks for I sense that you've been wondering when the bad poetry muse would show up concerning Obama's overseas presidentiness tour, right? ;p

2009's Jupiter/Neptune Conjunction

Sufferin' Speculators!

The whole of 2009 will be influenced by the idealistic combo of expansive Jupiter and inflationary Neptune hooking up for the first time since 1997, so you may wish to read a freshly published post with details on this 13-year cycle of Jupiter and Neptune, both of which relate to spirituality...Jupiter as codified religion and Neptune as spirituality.

And of course we know that there will be oil and gas to consider whenever Neptune is in the cauldron - while rich Jupiter simply loves the money these treasures provide!

Keep the terror pot boiling: attack Iran

Method In The Madness: Why They Want To Attack Iran

By Ed Kinane

Attacking Iran keeps the pot boiling. It perpetuates the phony war on terror. More war provides more enemies and so more pretext to erode civil liberties. Unscrupulous politicians and certain corporations thrive when fear keeps people dumb and dazed. With another invasion the Halliburtons and Blackwaters get to lap up more contracts.

Additionally, here's a link to a previous post - one of my early ones here on Stars Over Washington - concerning an astrological signature of radical reformers in government who believe that chaos is not just useful for their purposes, but is the undergirding of their movement to create a one-world-government:

Chiron-Uranus Types in Government - and Naomi Klein's Shock Doctrine theory is an extreme example of how these self-appointed social tinkerers work against society's good while pocketing all the cash and stacking up bricks of gold within their hidden Midas lairs.

McCain's Neverending war: video link

In his own words, folks!

Is it possible that POW McCain has never left war?

Now Barack Obama will almost certainly disappoint the American people on redeploying from Iraq soon enough to suit (like 5 years ago), withdrawing, etc, but I'll have to take my chances on that because look at the alternative with McCain...American children as cannon fodder for many years to come- that's what Maverick McCain is promising in spite of his recent equivocations.

And we know that the USA has some hard days ahead and has reached the limits of her power in the world (Progressed Full Moon in Virgo, December 2008; Mars now Rx by Progression...Mars = the military; police force - which will be used at home.)

But as the I Ching so wisely advises those who are willing to learn: there's no shame in regrouping forces to plan anew!

Look up! space junk descending

Space Weather News for July 22, 2008

DESCENDING SPACE JUNK: Almost exactly one year ago, on July 23, 2007, International Space Station astronauts threw an obsolete, refrigerator-sized ammonia reservoir overboard.

The 1400-lb piece of space junk has been circling Earth ever since and now, in July 2008, its orbit has decayed so much that it has become an easy naked-eye target for backyard sky watchers.

The "Early Ammonia Servicer" (EAS for short) is almost as bright as the stars of the Big Dipper and growing brighter as it descends.

Today's edition of SpaceWeather.com displays photos of the EAS, which is expected to burn up in Earth's atmosphere in late 2008 or early 2009.

Readers who wish to see the EAS with their own eyes should check the Simple Satellite Tracker for flyby times: flybys - Europeans are favored with flybys this week, North Americans next week.

Is Bush to stay on and on and on?

Bush at the helm: can a lifetime be enough? has been freshly published if you can stand a glop of George Bush's dictatorship possibilities, along with some FISA-related ranting on my part.

Perhaps it's cheeky monkey of me, but I relate the whole glop of political neocon high-handedness to a possible reason why John McCain has been "accepted" as the GOP's 2008 prez nominee - McCain the maverick who couldn't pass muster for them not so very long ago.

Anyway, it's all devil's food for thought!

Are Dems the problem? + Iraq war stats

Reality Check: The Democrats Are The Real Problem

If the path to peace requires crushing the Democratic Party and its blood-thirsty candidates; so be it. The main thing is to stop the killing. If Obama won't do it, we'll find someone who will.

The Problem Of Patriotism

By James Rothenberg

Race, sex, and religion do not demand your loyalty but your country does. Your village or town doesn't. Your city doesn't. The state you live in doesn't. New York and California don't care if you are loyal to them.

What's the difference? Armed force. Uncle Sam needs you. To fight.
