Boobus Briticanus?

As I was reading about Blair, Brown, and Reid's new attempt to shove through their 90-day detention without charges--which was humiliatingly defeated in November (28-day compromise...doubled from 14 days)--I ran across Citizens for Legitimate Government...a novel idea these days. Why not go legit?

Not sure how I missed it before but CLG has my vote and I'm looking forward to receiving their Newsletters.

So the UK's "apparently narrow escape" from a "major disaster proved the case for a clamp-down on 'the enemy within'", a "senior government source" is saying. Seems that senior ministers believe that the recent "foiling" will make it all right with the British public to hold suspects for 90 days without charge due to "public concern about terroism (that) is now at such a level that they will be able to introduce the controversial detention powers, which were rejected in favor of a 28-day limit FOLLOWING THE 7/7 ATTACKS."

Turning Britain and the US into police states gives bin Laden an excellent victory...egged on by Bush and Blair, both of whom should be egged.

Apparently said public assumes it will never be any of Them Who Are Detained, as if detainment is proof of bad intentions so if you don't have any, you're "safe" from a police state!

Boobus Briticanus joins Boobus Americanus once again? Terror alert: Blair to force through 90-day detention sounds like the terror alert IS Blair, Brown, and Reid's attack on human rights in the UK.

Anyone know of a Boobus Anonymous we can all join? A Newsletter would be nice.

UPDATE--kinda: After listening to Michael Chertoff on tv this morning, I read that Chertoff Says U.S. Needs More Authority so the US can have MORE electronic surveillance and MORE detention!

And so the GOP will continue to equate spying on and detaining suspects with spying on and detaining whomever they please when they please--and this means YOU (not me--I'm innocent, I tell ya.)

It seems odd to me that HoSec wants us to take them seriously when it comes to surrendering our Colgate and our new bottles of Secret Roll-On...yet they go after regular Joes like the dumbleheaded Keystone Cops they've shown themselves to be--missing the hilarity of their own befuddled goofiness!

Who knew that governmental befuddled goofiness could be so expensive? It's trillions into the Rabbit Hole again.

A certain Mr.A.Cat has said, "Cat Stevens escaped so you'll do"...well-said, Mr.A.Cat, well-said...and in limerick form, no less!

Visit Lim's Limericks for more salty mockery--for we may as well laugh at these ruthless, bumbling jokers...my contention is that ridicule is our best defense. (Recipe ideas available as well from Chef Lim.)

And stop by Tao of Politics when you get a chance, ok? Chertoff has his baleful eye on those teenaged girls from Iowa and their dastardly make-up! (May we all be rescued from black lipstick forever!#!!)

UPDATE 7:30 pm: Mahmoud Blogs 2!!! Iran's President has a new blog, and yes, there's an English translation for the Farsi-challenged amongst us as Mahmoud Blogs for US Favor so now we can get propagandized from over yonder on top of our own swill--and without it's going through George's bull*horn. We so lucky. Ain't we lucky?

Yep, Michael Hayden must Lo-o-ove This! What if Mahmoud says something...honest, or something? And if our monkey can be taught to blog and spell-check simultaneously (that means: at the same time), they could have a Battle of the Blogs--what a lot of lives and money and sobbing THAT would save!

ps: I titled his blog myself--couldn't resist. He's so so so.....modern.
