"Politics is the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich, by promising to protect each from the other."
Oscar Ameringer
Well, on this Midterm Election Day 2010, that pretty well sums things up, doesn't it? Unless you prefer to add a famous quote from Henry Brook Adams for a fuller portrait of the rabid animal:
"Politics, as a practice, whatever its professions, has always been the systematic organisation of hatreds."

Thank you for these reminders. 11/2 is the birthday of my dear brother in law and in spirit who left us back in 2003. At any rate today completely unsought or planned I came across some discussion of St. Theresa of Lisieux and I take this as his gift for me. It is this gift that pried my fingers off the edge of the chair and got me up and engaging in the parts of life that are not brutal and violent as this election season has been.
ReplyDeleteHow better to praise god with good natured living together and developing gratitude of all the small things we take for granted.
Hello Miss Jude,
ReplyDeleteCan you tell us whether the move of Uranus into Aries will impact Washington? How? Is the tea party a harbinger of things to come? Is that the revolution we've been waiting for?
Please say it ain't so!

Well on to today and the days coming. I wasn't expecting this-high turn-out in order to give the Republicans all they wanted? Sally on AW reminds us of Venus rx in Scorpio which she labels "Buyer's remorse".
ReplyDeleteMy angle of the scene is that we need to stop talking and thinking about the past and start dreaming in current time for what it is we need now. We are hurting and the Republicans have nothing to offer except serving us up to the Big Guys. We need to look forward and support those who are here to help.
