Asteroid America, Obama's Plutonian Power, and the US Senate

Today, July 17, 2013, the US Senate convened at 9:30 am edt, an Hour of Saturn, with 6Vir40 rising and thus bringing up the natal Pluto of President Obama. The ongoing Water Grand Trine between the two societal planets, Jupiter and Saturn, with Neptune of The Masses has been contacting the president's 7th house Pluto, planet of power, manipulation, surveillance, and the unconscious.

Sextiles from Jupiter and Saturn have provided him with valuable opportunities for understanding how skills may be utilized and solutions found, yet with Neptune @4Pis57 Rx (today) opposing Mr. Obama's natal Pluto, a condition is in play via dissolving Neptune in which unseen forces or entities erode natal Pluto's power and control. Subtle or possibly deceit-filled manipulations are afoot!

Today these planetary conditions arose at 9:30 am edt in Washington DC with President Obama's natal Moon (3Gem21) at Midheaven! Moon = reigning need (Tyl) and MC = The Goal so we may expect that something the president desperately wants is at the top of the Senate agenda for July 17, 2013, and/or perhaps the president's powerful partnerships (natal Pluto in natal 7th house) will somehow receive attention on Capitol Hill, secretly or otherwise.

Convening during a Saturn Hour is perfect for our 'most deliberative body' and is also conducive to the hard work Saturn demands. Recent compromises in the Senate on nominee blocks, filibuster reform, and an immigration bill are promising but not too promising that the US Senate may be in process of getting its deliberative mojo back. Yet with Mercury Rx until July 20 and conjunct US natal Sun, activist Mars @2Can42 and out-of-bounds (off on his own and up to who-knows-what), and today's unaspected Sun (isolation--note that the president has kept a low profile since returning from Africa), a wait-and-see attitude is better than getting or hopes up too soon.

What's Up with Asteroid America?

Discovered during WWI on August 7, 1915 in Simeis, Crimea, USSR by G. Neujmin, asteroid America (#916) obviously signifies our nation in Mundane Astrology work though its archetype actually represents the entire Western Hemisphere. Named for explorer-cartotographer Amerigo Vespucci, its glyph is a pyramid with an eye inside which is said to have been taken from America's Great Seal image of same (Eye of Providence--or, eye of Horus in a floating capstone) by the excellent Al Morrison.

A search for America in the Serennu ephemeris shows that today, America is @18Cap36 Rx, a degree which spotlights 1993's three conjunctions of Illuminati-Enlightenment planets, Uranus and Neptune ('18Cap' = "POLITICAL POWER"). And there's a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio coming up in early November 2013 which contains influences of this insightful planetary duo and it will be discussed here and elsewhere in the coming weeks.

So where was asteroid America on July 4, 1776? At 27Lib26--trine US natal Moon in late Aquarius, and square US natal Pluto Rx @27Cap33, which imho, denotes We the People's opportunity for a new nation, a sovereign America, and powerful Pluto's control and manipulation of the US government via blocking tactics (square) from abroad (1776 Pluto out-of-bounds from the rest of America's natal planets---in a word, London.)

Now if only I could figure out why our nation is called 'America' and not 'Amerigo'!

Knuckle Under for Global Government...or Else

It's official: as long suspected, Washington's Pentagon intends to topple yet another regime in the Middle East as evidenced by this week's White House announcement (which neocon war hawk John McCain "stepped on" on the Senate floor) that military aid will be sent to anti-Assad rebels in Syria. This is a ramp-up from the night goggles the US previously sent and an increase of militarism to ostensibly bolster the training and support the CIA is already providing there.

That the weapons the US provides will sooner or later fall into the wrong hands and be turned against our forces seems certain, imho. We're such patsies!

Well, former President Bill Clinton approves of America stepping into the fray of the sectarian war in Syria and he doesn't think popular opinion in the US matters a bit. In a well-rehearsed and scripted moment, Clinton says Obama's decision to involve the US in yet another war is "trending in the right direction." That direction, as some of us believe, is the internationalists' long term plan to march the world toward a 'new world order' where national sovereignty will be a thing of the past ('the old order'.)

(Besides, toppling governments and other structures is one of Pluto in Capricorn's favorite tasks and he's coping with it as he plods along.)

Yes, "the past" and "the old order", the status quo and authoritarianism finger the Assad regime and all are under the province of planet Saturn which now, @5Sco16 Rx as I type, is poised to stomp over Syria's 12th house planets in Scorpio: Venus, Jupiter, and the Sun. As you know, the Unconscious 12th house denotes Politics, Karma, Secret Deals, Self-Undoing, and Large Institutions, and I'm looking at the Assad coup 1970 natal horoscope set for sunrise (a coup at dawn) on November 13, 1970 with Sun and ASC @20Sco22, Moon (the people) @18Tau33 conjunct natal Saturn @19Tau01 Rx, both in 6th house of Military and Police Service.

As you see by the 6th house conjunction's degrees, the current Solar Eclipse @19Tau31 'eclipsed' Syria's Moon-Saturn conjunction on May 9, 2013 (15 South Saros Series: 'a sudden release of tension but with a sense of grief or loss that's more collective than personal'--Brady.) Apparently the Assad government's 'restriction' and rule of the Syrian people is nearing its end. If there can be any up side to US involvement in this sectarian conflict (and proxy war between Russia and the US), I hope that is it though who or what will be propped up in Assad's position of power is anyone's guess.

So now in June 2013, as restrictive, depressive Saturn prepares to hit natal Venus, Jupiter, Sun, and Ascendant, we find the Task Master also threatens opposition to Syria's natal Moon-Saturn conjunction with December 2013 the most difficult month. As you know, Saturn is a karmic planet (reaping what was sown) that brings along changes and loss if responsibilities have not been honestly dealt with in the past, and regrets ensue. Gassing one's population, if it did occur, can be tucked into that category in Mr. Assad's column. Or, considering America's natal and problematic Mars-Neptune square of militarism, misguided actions, and misdirected energy, is the propaganda campaign touting intervention in another region where we don't belong only sending US troops into yet another 'fog of war' with little if any clear outcome?

Tragically, there's another far-away sound being heard underneath empiric Washington's drum beat to war and I think it's America's Founding Fathers rolling over in their graves at the mess we've made of their Enlightenment experiment, America.

May 2013: White House Scandals and Mars-Neptune concerns

When US natal Neptune Masks a President's Mars (Motivation; Action)

On Friday May 10, 2013, the IRS scandal was outed during the typical Washington 'Friday afternoon news dump' and on Monday May 13, 2013, the AP reporters and editors communications scandal broke from its surly bonds. And of course, the GOP's much-touted Benghazi 'scandal' is already in the wind in ways that are perhaps overblown as far as a 'White House cover-up' angle is concerned.

For astrologers there are many methods and paths which can be explored astrologically concerning White House (or CIA-Benghazi, or IRS, or AP) scandals but with my blogging time limited these days, I chose to blurb in general about a natal planetary link that's been covered and re-covered here before: President Obama's natal 7th house Mars @22Virgo34 (near n 8th cusp 25Vir54) is veiled and thus obfuscated by US natal Neptune @22Vir25. This also means that the president's natal Mars squares US natal Mars, with both contacts dulling Mr. Obama's promise of "transparency" in government.

Yes, our national Mars-Neptune square ('the fog of war') has produced a varied plethora of problems for America since our founding for the square most assuredly includes misguided and misdirected energies expended in war, conflict, and business endeavors. Neptune's oil, gas, and water concerns are also involved as blockages (square) are dealt with or removed in an aggressive fashion.

With his natal Mars shielded or hidden by US natal Neptune (the media, the masses, dreams and visions, the collective, spying, propaganda, etc) the public has endured many diatribes on what the president is really doing, what is he hiding, etc, etc, etc. With the IRS and AP scandals now afoot--and uncovered in part by the *May 9, 2013 Solar Eclipse @19Tau31 on Thursday--we now find that there are several issues of government overreach and misuse/abuse of power to probe if not exonerate. And we know the Republicans are salivating over how President Obama has sneakily--or inadvertently--added fuel to his opponent's fire against him.

It seems curious to me how government agencies seem to get particularly busy and sneaky when there's a Democrat in the White House! Or is the public simply expected to believe that any commander-in-chief is totally unaware of what certain tentacles of government are doing at various times? Perhaps. Presumably this wouldn't be the first time actions were taken without a president's consent or knowledge. But often it's to protect a president that 'lack of awareness' is used as a tactic.

A Mars-Neptune contact between horoscopes indicates that Mr. Obama's actions (Mars) are quite incomprehensible or nebulous to many (Neptune) and yes, our nation's connection to the president is rather tenuous and prospects for our 'future together' are weakened though perhaps not broken during the 8-years duration. And we've seen how defusing (Neptune) his actions (Mars) has been a constant obsession of the Republican Party (ex: this week the House takes a 37th vote to repeal Obamacare--a waste of The People's time and money, imho, but Neptune also denotes waste and loss.)

Obviously all military considerations--his promise to close Guantanamo Prison, secretive drone strikes which include US citizens, surreptitious wars, supplying arms to rebels, etc--are confused, hidden, and made more complex by the Mars-Neptune veiling going on between us. And actually, deceitful acts may be thought 'necessary' wherever Mars-Neptune links exist (surveillance of AP calls is a prime example.)

Remember early on when Barack Obama was referred to as a "rock star"? That was our Mars-Neptune contact, too. Now in his second term, it's safe to say that our rock-n-roll parties have ended with what may be--if Republicans have their way--a sour taste in our collective mouth. Yet there is still hope for President Obama by way of dreamy Neptune and optimistic Jupiter that our shared mojo will return soon and not be permanently harmed. My primary concern is that where a US president goes, there goes the nation. And I wish that meant something to success-at-all-costs Republicans--sore losers since 2008/09.

And the president's natal Mars square our national Mars? A stimulating contact, of course, but it also denotes much frustration at the pace of getting things done and indicates that indecisiveness is a no-no if goals are to be reached.

Another astrological 'scandal factor' playing into current circumstances is the president's natal 9th house Neptune @8Sco36 conjoining US natal Ascendant in our Scorpio Rising chart. Although I usually use our natal Sagittarius Rising chart (the 'Sibly' chart: 5:10 pm LMT July 4, 1776), the Scorpio Rising chart may be used for Surveillance-Secret Agencies, Corporate, and even Military and Nuclear matters (Scorpio = Mars-Pluto), and of course, Scorpio Rising is always used as our natal horoscope at the brilliant Neptune Cafe.

Neptune-ASC contacts tend to be unstable and/or ethereal with **intuitive promptings galore which have made it easy for propaganda-spreading through uplifting speeches and the often-praised rhetorical talent of President Obama. Yet this contact has tied in perfectly with his personal magnetism, charisma, and the public fascination with him. Even the GOP's constant drip-drip-drip against the president shows their fascination with him, aka, obsession. And since Neptune rules paranoia (which has increased greatly as Neptune floats through its own sign of oceanic Pisces), we find extremist groups across the country dogging the president's every move and doubting (Neptune) his every motivation (Mars) including proposed gun (Mars) legislation.

Plus, in March 2010, when much of the current scandalous troubles actually began, rebellious, anarchical Uranus entered Mars-ruled Aries and crossed US natal IC (00Ari53 in the Sibly chart) signifying uprisings, riots, protests, strikes, and violent disagreements. Uranus = Aries Point has lead to one problem after another with its titanic Cardinal Square with stealthy, wealthy Pluto at the foundation of many upsets...radical progress v ancient ways, and a generational clash ensues--including within the Republican Party and its wet-behind-the-ears Tea Party members!

And of course we've discussed here before the ongoing transit of limiting, austere, conservative Saturn in Scorpio hitting the president's natal Neptune, a time when dreams-come true (won a 2nd term) and/or the grim-face-of-reality (scandals ensue) peeks into one's life. For Obama, it's now officially both implications which are active. This is also a Saturnian take-responsibility/be-accountable transit to the US Scorpios Rising chart's Ascendant (the nation, but also the CIA, FBI, IRS, etc--depending on how the Scorpio Rising horoscope is used.)

Yes, the presidential second-term curse for Obama is being touted by all news sources and pundits but is it real? Obviously, the American people (those who are paying attention!) must stumble through to the other side of current scandals and consider all sides of the issues before we can hope to understand the ultimate results of Barack Obama's presidential legacy, a task which will take several years.

My feeling is that an internationally based Wider Agenda marches on, no matter what topics the press directs our attention toward while directing us away from issues and actions that should be scrutinized, not ignored. Are the Democrats complicit in this re-direction or victims? I'd say yes to complicity, for the business of the American People--jobs creation, immigration reform, returning vets, and many other critical issues--will be forced onto Capitol Hill's back burners or tossed out entirely while the GOP enjoys its tiresome gotcha celebrations against a Democratic president, an outcome which is sadly and tragically predictable.

A Lunar Eclipse November 28, 2012 and Election Day 2012

It's an Hour of Jupiter, and Mars OOBs of the Earthly plane closely conjoins powerful, wealthy, string-puller Pluto @8Cap10--this pair of force and weaponry rise in Washington D.C. and as the eclipse perfects, enters the 12th H of Politics, Karma, Self-Undoing, and Large Institutions (wounded veterans in hospitals and soldier suicides come sadly to mind.) A desire to face danger may be in evidence as well.

Moon = the Mood We're In

A Gemini Moon shows We the People are of two minds as lively attention is paid to all forms of news and communications--we are straining to hear some good news and hopefully the populations of our cities and towns affected by this week's Hurricane Sandy will have heard good news by November 28th! Yes, Moon approaching Jupiter is a happy combination and here Jupiter rules the Sun posited in expansive, broad-minded Sagittarius. Plus, this Lunar Eclipse occurs 2 degr 7 mins from America's natal Uranus @8Gem55 which may serve to increase our excitement and our restlessness.

Indicative of turning points, crossroads, and/or crises are the two interlocked YOD patterns, one with Saturn 6Sco21 and MC at apex (focal points) and a second focused YOD (aka, the 'Finger of God' = an imperative to deal with) pointing toward the Moon (the people) and opposing the Sun (leader.)

Midpoint pictures for these YOD patterns include potentials for irritability, suppressed excitability, self-willedness, desires for separation, and a striving for independence (you'd think we Americans had that one under our belts before now! yet we're under threat once again.) Also denoted are: suffering sudden damage, great energy, ambitious aims pursued, readiness for action, and/or sudden interference in the business of others (an American specialty thanks to our tiresome imperialist plutocrats who wish to rule the world--from the White House, it seems.

Additionally, there are karmic or fated implications for planets when they appear in a chart at the same degrees: Moon-Sun-Saturn (6th degr) and Mars-Pluto-Venus (8th degr.)

A very dynamic picture of tense development is shown by midpoints aimed directly at the Sun (leader) @6Sag46 in 11th H: Pluto/MC = Mars/MC = Sun = Saturn/Pluto = Mars/Saturn indicating potentials for: power to attain success, authority, a strong will, giving orders to others, overcoming resistance or obstacles, sparing no pains in work, renunciation, privation, physical separation, toil, or an inability to meet all demands due to weak vitality.

Of course, this is a Lunar Eclipse so its midpoints also affect the Moon (the public) so we may find ourselves dealing with such issues as: feminine leadership, premature action, deep emotional reactions, lack of deliberation, imposing one's will upon women, independence of women, melancholy, depression, tragedy especially relating to women, illness, and/or a lack of courage (or charges of cowardice.) Looks like the GOP's 'war on women' with its backward-facing legislative proposals will have us stirred up even more in November, as it ought if America intends to remain a 21st century, non-Talibanesque nation!

Now with serious Saturn as chart-ruler (ASC 11Cap22), we take note of the karmic Lesson-Bringer's only applying aspect, a sextile to 12th H Pluto (1A49.) A sextile between these two karmic planets denotes that a challenge is involved--to persevere without becoming obsessive and single-minded. Defending the rights of those who are being victimized is a positive trait of a Saturn-Pluto sextile, yet both Moon and Sun (people-leader/s) may be in victimized (apex) positions here--or may describe those who use the sextile to achieve positive results!

Spotlighted are organization of info and intelligence reports, plus, 'proper management' issues. Top of the to-do list for a Saturn-Pluto sextile are: self-reliance, financial independence, and total control of all decision-making; perseverance will eventually turn around vulnerabilities, disorganized enterprises, and/or plans, and will result in the release or leaking of withheld information.

And since all eclipses are universal 'wild cards' with a Uranian nature and act as catalysts that serve us by uncovering hidden secrets and scandals, perhaps we'll be amazed by what we will soon find out.

November 6, 2012 and Voting Mercury's Station Rx

Now in a previous post or two I've groused astrologically about Election Day 2012's Mercury (votes, voters, ballots, polls, decisions, etc) performing a Station Retrograde (when a planet seems to stand still before turning direction and is made stronger while in Station mode.) Mercury's Station Rx occurs around 6 pm ET on November 6th and with you, dear reader, I await with baited breath to see if this Mercurial planetary condition again affects election results, both presidential and congressional--as it did in the Bush-Gore brouhaha of 2000. Especially since it Stations at '5Sag' this time which opposes President Obama's natal 3Gem21 Moon and conjoins Mitt Romney's natal South Node (SN) in Sagittarius in his n 7th house (Mitt's natal DESC = 1Sag01) and thus opposes his n NN, a Jupiterian point which has positive joining qualities.

Is Mercury's Station Rx showing American voters reviewing his record and 'turning back' to President Obama to gift him a second term as president? Does the separative Mercury-SN contact for Mr. Romney describe his ideas as old-fashioned and 'behind the times' such as rolling back Obamacare, minority rights, and women's reproductive rights? Well, Mercury-SN shows one who often has trouble gaining support for his ideas and plans (Mercury) so my hope is that the lesser of two evils--Mr. Obama, apparently--will benefit from Election Day 2012's Mercury Station Rx and that the Supreme Court doesn't get an opportunity to step in and decide the presidency on behalf of the plutocrats and neocon warmongers we so recently suffered under for eight years, a bad deal for American society which continues its negative influences to this day and beyond.

And this pertains, no matter how hard Florida's Jeb Bush tries to snow us with his glowing assessment of his disastrous brother, Dubya! Here's Jeb on Meet the Press a while back not showing the slightest sense of irony or discomfort that he even has to defend his brother!

As Rev. Al Sharpton noted on his program PoliticsNation last evening, Mitt Romney's reaction to Meatloaf's horrifying additions to America the Beautiful was, I'll do anything for votes, but I won't do that!

Also, Al Sharpton doesn't take kindly to John Sununu's racist remarks on Colin Powell's recent endorsement of Barack Obama for president (and I agree with him wholeheartedly.)

Horoscope: Solar Eclipse November 13, 2012

A Solar Eclipse in Scorpio Nov 13, 2012

Image above: the Total Solar Eclipse of November 13, 2012 which falls within the 15 North (15N) Saros Series and in Scorpio is ruled and co-ruled by Mars and Pluto; 15N contains 'joy through commitment' and 'good news' vibes (Brady) and last manifested on Nov 4, 1994 @'11Sco' around the time Republicans took over Congress and promoted their so-called "Contract with America--perhaps a good omen for the austere Romney-Ryan ticket especially since this eclipse occurs within two weeks of Election Day 2012 and thus affects it."

Will continued 'embassy' issues for the US surface? If so, this is denoted by the Sabian Symbol for '11Sco': "An Embassy Ball"; Scorpio eclipses bring intensely passionate energies into the Collective--this is a North Node eclipse so energies are rushing in--and brings times when strength of purpose benefits, and root causes of problems may be uncovered and dealt with; karmic (evolutionary) progress may be gained if positive elements of sign Scorpio are well-directed--which means that revenge, retribution, mayhem, and betrayal must not be allowed to override forgiveness.

We find ourselves in several difficult binds yet America will be much better prepared for future growth if present hatreds and prejudices are put to rest, resolved, or at least tamped down to a lower-than-dull roar. But tell that to racists and bossy financial and ruling elitist Plutocrats, right? At least We the People might be aware enough to listen to our higher natures and treat our fellow Americans and others as we wish to be treated!

Now if we 'stretch' a bit and don't mind counting Chiron, chart-ruler Venus makes no major applying aspects in the chart but 'she' does make an applying minor (irritating) aspect: a sesquisquare to non-Ptolemaic Chiron (discovered in 1977; may result in 'socialization difficulties'), but significantly I mention it because it's partile (exact) to the minute--00A00, from Airy Libra to Watery Pisces, and in process of returning once again to BHO's n Chiron position 5:19 Rx in his n 1st H--mentors are important to him, and thus are important to our nation. Also, Venus in 6th H of Health, the Virgo house, resonates with Chiron, the Healer, the Wound, and The Key (and the Christ archetype in Astrology); few can disagree that America's mental and emotional health and Spirit have been wounded many times over by our own apathy that allowed misplaced trust concerning what our elected officials do, and by government itself through invasions, wars, and occupations which US taxpayers are forced to pay for while the power elite (banking houses both here and abroad) wage said wars and rake in massive profits therefrom. (Now remember I'm of the 'what if they threw a war and no one showed up to fight' generation! How I wish everyone would try it.)

Fortunately, a 1st H Jupiter affords some protection from Above though its Rx condition may weaken or delay its beneficial effects on our economy--plus, Jupiter is Unaspected here, working on his own on inner levels (Rx.) But is he strengthened by having his own way? Or, debilitated by not having good or workable connections with the other actors (planets) in the eclipse chart. Well, perhaps he doesn't mind working alone for a while! Jupiter's rulership of the 8th H of High Finance and a natural link to money (as with Scorpio) shouts to us something about Debt and Credit, Military, Health Care, and Insurance costs and funding, and we may be looking at a description of the ongoing battle over Obamacare, budgeting, deficit reduction, credit downgrades, fiscal cliffs, and sequestration cutbacks on Capitol Hill with testy Mars @27Sag35, also in 8th H and out-of-bounds.

Even though the GOP 'spends like drunken sailors' when at the helm, the investment function of Jupiter inspires me to ascribe the expansive planet more to the Democratic Party at this time than to the austerity-promoting Republican Party with its sour, dour Saturnian outlook and determination to raise taxes on the middle and working classes while easing tax 'burdens' on the wealthy. An alternate view is that with a Romney presidency, funds will be again gifted to the wealthy class bwo the Bush tax cuts while austerity, lack, and hardship are forced upon the rest of us--and we may see many corporations cooperate with the White House by hiring quite a few of those US workers they refused to hire during what they intended to be the failed presidency of Barack Obama. Is this what Jupiter's Rx condition means? Are the current CEO threats of job loss against their workers who don't vote Republican another side of Jupiter Rx?

He's not just a candidate--he's the president and closely involved with The People's business and the implementation of a transformative agenda--plus, as many have said, eight years of hardships and robbery under Bush-Cheney can't be repaired in only four years!

Now having both Mars and Pluto in 8th H has been notable in previous charts for a connection to 'death by war' and with Jupiter the General ruling 8th H--and Rx--we may sadly expect the number of US caskets to increase along with the financial costs of war if our adventurism doesn't continue to be tamped down--which it won't under a Romney White House letting the neocons back into power.

Well, here Mars sextiles nebulous, prevaricating Neptune (2A45) which stimulates our infamous natal Mars-Neptune square with its 'fog of war' theme that always gets us into conflicts through misguided ideologies driving misdirected energies. Therefore, another pre-emptive strike cannot be ruled out nor can more Afghan soldier "green on blue" attacks which will complicate America's Exit Strategy at the end of 2014. However, Mars sextile Neptune denotes a need to forgo action until things are seen clearly and not just through a rosy 'visionary' mindset of an 'ideal' future while pining for a 'string of victories' (Epstein) which war-profittering neocons hold so dear.

This sextile aspect may also show hints of drills and preparation for war in this strongly Fixed-Water horoscope (determined, rigid, secretive Scorpio) on our side, but also by others against the US and in opposition to the global government we're attempting to force upon the Middle East, and the Saturn-Uranus inconjunct shows Israeli-Palestinian needs for major adjustments. Cardinal-Earth energies are weak in the chart so practicality and an appreciation of actual consequences are desperately needed to keep over-enthusiasm and rash actions under check--but with Cardinal weak, practicality may 'rush in' with unconscious force.

Rebellious Uranus @4Ari58 Rx in 11th H of Groups and Associations continues its sojourn in Mars-ruled Aries with its signature of zealots and "Utopians" (as labeled by Reinhold Ebertin.) Tea Party politicians and other social-political activists are denoted on various levels especially with the ongoing Uranus-Pluto square bringing unsettled conditions, upsets, uprisings, protests, strikes, marches, rallies, strong-armed tactics, and violence within societies the world over. A flavor of financial upsets is also denoted--and as you know, Underworldly Pluto keeps massive wealth hidden in many secret places but he wants it all including Earth's dwindling natural resources.

While it's affecting the entire world with unrest and violence, in the US the Uranus-Pluto influence is being strongly felt through civil rights issues re-surfacing from the mid-1960s which gives us that deja-vu feeling of having settled such matters way back then as Uranus and Pluto last met in Great Conjunction in mid-Virgo, The Virgin: voting rights, civil rights, women's rights, Roe v Wade, etc. The Uranus-Pluto square's riled-up effects have a background influence on the Collective until 2015 and perhaps a little beyond. 'New vs Ancient' may be one way to describe its stalemate quality for these are generational conflicts with a distinct class warfare flavor (no matter which political party accuses the other of waging it!), and Neptune in its own sign of confusing, often deceitful Pisces adds illusion, delusion, disappointment, contagion, liquidity, fraud and scandal to the titanic clash.

Let's close with a word about status-quo, conservative Saturn recently moved into Scorpio: here Saturn tends to concentrate on taxes and accounting, property, corporate financing, and other business matters with a perfectionist flair (MR's n Jupiter is in Scorpio as is Paul Ryan's and Ronald Reagan's); 'hard taskmaster' describes Saturn in Scorpio for Mr. Austerity has no patience with lazy attitudes or an unwillingness to work or to take responsibility for one's self (ex: Romney's remarks about the 47%!)

In Scorpio, Saturn's willpower is spent on practical accomplishments while efficiency is placed above people in a robot-like manner. Attainment of authority is a must for this managing Saturn and the Republican plan to force austerity and larger economic burdens upon those who can least afford it may be what is being shown here.

But if President Obama is re-elected (and especially if the House and Senate lean more Democratic on Election Day 2012), the improving, regenerating side of Saturn in Scorpio (patience, concentrated work, and determination to succeed) may be expressed instead and can provide a serious work ethic to governing issues and the concerns of the American people who are ready to hear of the Saturnian realities about our financial system, and ready to understand what must be done in order to keep our Republic.

If you've visited SO'W before you know this dissenting American blogger has done quite a bit of grousing over Fed actions and its shady beginnings, and no less so now. Even just yesterday I blogged about the planetary imprint or signature which seals its meanings and themes into the Obama administration and which will affect his legacy as president (Jan 20, 2009 until noon of January 21, 2013.)

Yet if Mr. Obama is re-elected, the Jupiter-Neptune combo of energies will continue in the background of his second term. Expansive Jupiter and merging Neptune will meet next in 2022 @23Pis59 conj NYSE's natal *MC 23Pis21); or, if another man is selected for Oval Office duty in 2012, Jupiter-Neptune will flavor events, plans, grand schemes, religious flowerings, and more with major associated events and circumstances timed by the pair's aspects to one another as they circle in their orbits--as seen from Earth. Either way, controlling the inflationary qualities of the pair won't be easy and may not be possible, even if that is the Fed's true motivation.

Happily I find that Omid Malekan has updated his video library since I visited so I chose two of my favorites concerning the Fed and "the Ben Bernank", as he's called therein. If clear explanations are your preference and Financial Collapse 2007/08 remains an issue for you and yours, check out the two videos and think of how secretive the what-became-known-as the Fed's planning session on Jekyll Island, Georgia was in 1910 and how the White House and the US Congress colluded with NY bankers and politicians to morph a utopian take-over fantasy into political and legal reality through the creation of the US Federal Reserve Bank set up by an Act of Congress.

And of course for something that unpopular, the culprits sneakily pushed through the legislation on December 23, 1913 when Capitol Hill's Christmas recess had begun and many chambers, halls, and seats were empty of anyone who might've objected to forming a central bank a la Alexander Hamilton-style. For if we're talking Jupiter-Neptune, we're talking visionaries and scoundrels out for their main chance and successfully linking treasuries of the US with that of Britain (City of London) in spite of all the fighting and sacrifices our ancestors did to free us from the grip of the British Empire. Shams and Mystery Plays!

As the video reminds us, the Fed has been wrong about everything from the start and maintains plenty of air with which to blow things up: the Fed wants an inflated economy that continues giving Goldman-Sachs all advantages and leads to a global financial collapse when they're good'n'ready.

Guess it probably should go without saying that the New York Stock Exchange was formed (by a small group, again) on May 17, 1792 under the auspices of a previous Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune in Libra in 4th house, both retrograde in late degrees, a section of the Zodiac where Saturn has lumbered recently (on his way to Scorpio):

DNC 2012: Obama accepts as Banksters Keep On (video)

On the Jupiter-Neptune Presidency of a Populist Barack Obama

Last evening at DNC 2012 in Charlotte, NC, President Barack Obama accepted his party's nomination for president. During his address he mentioned the Big Banks that all but collapsed the US economy in 2007/08. Now, with the stock market doubled under Mr. Obama, Wall Street has not given its old fraudster ways which was expectable since the speculator-wastrel-fraudster pair, Jupiter and Neptune of Grand Schemes and Visions, met in Great Conjunction three times during the president's first year in office (2009) and will forever be the planetary imprint describing the tenure of the Obama administration Jan 2009--Jan 2013.

As you know, when Jupiter and Neptune met in 2009 their conjunction directly hit America's natal Moon in Aquarius (We the People) compelling us with the desire to dream and providing little sense of reality about events that were happening, may of which related to our then-new 'dreamboat' president whose natal Mars (desire; energy; action) is concealed and glamorized by US natal Neptune @23 Virgo. Also, related to Financial Collapse 2008 and specifically to the Fed, is Jupiter and Pluto closing 2007 with their Great Conjunction of December 11, 2007 which timed many events and financial circumstances of which the public was then unaware.

There are no Great Conjunctions of primary planets until Big Year 2020--then it's Jupiter-Saturn, Jupiter-Pluto, and Saturn-Pluto--so each planetary pair's or trio's flavor relates back to their last Great Conjunction/s until then; of course their cycles include sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions between them which lead up to 2020 as they mark periods of ease or obstruction accordingly.

Now in a previous SO'W post concerning the president's acceptance speech at DNC 2012 last evening, I mentioned the current Sun-Jupiter square for its tendency to inspire over-promising and while last night's DNC address was wonderful and shiny for several reasons, my fret is: Here We Go Again--especially since Republicans have no intention of cooperating with, and will everything they can to obstruct, a second-term President Obama. And that's a very good reason why Democratic candidates must be successful in their bids on November 6th to gain seats in the House and Senate!That, and the expectable appointing of fresh SCOTUS judges in the near future.

The Morning After the Party

So with the Jupiter-Neptune cycle lasting approximately thirteen years, on this morning after President Obama thrilled excited crowds in Charlotte, TV watchers at home, and many of the DNC 2012 commentators, too, I find myself pining for a re-consideration of even more Truth about Financial Crash 2008 (or, The Bush Depression as I often term it) than any DNC speaker provided for the crisis plagues us still while providing for the Democratic Party handy justification for re-electing Mr. Obama who, it is true, cannot clear up the GOP's eight years of financial heisting and flummery in only a four-year term--especially if financial reforms fall short as they have.

Yes, I shall vote for Mr. Obama again for look at what the powers-that-be give us as his opposition: Misogynist Neanderthal Theocratic Jacka**es! Why, it's almost as if the GOP wants to lose in 2012, isn't it? So with my vote I shall retain the Hope that guilty banksters will at some point receive what ought to be comin' to 'em which would give the US financial system a great boost once the dust settles and the rot is scooped out.

Of course, you know that a Romney presidency would get banksters completely off the hook for their crimes and would remove any legal fetters upon them whatesoever. What fetters they now have or would have under the Mittster have so far not despoiled their greedy, pretty little minds. Subliminal Message: as we've experienced through the decades, using 'trickle down economics' only works for those at the top of the pyramid of power, not for the American people as a whole. A Romney-Ryan administration would feed banksters here and abroad our remaining crumbs and prevent us from investing in America and our children's futures!

2012 noms: Romney Moon-Neptune--Obama Moon/SN

2012 Nominations: Romney = Moon-Neptune, Obama = Moon/SN

Since in America the astrological Moon signifies We the People, the public, and publicity and is an excellent timer of human activity, let's consider the Moon-Neptune combo of August 30, 2012 under which Mitt Romney accepted his party's nomination for president along with tonight's lunar portents as President Obama accepts the Democratic nomination of his party in Charlotte, NC. Both Neptune and the Nodes relate to public contacts/encounters and, the masses and media.

Mitt Romney's Moon-Neptune conjunction in early Pisces is supported by his progressions for SP Moon at SP MC is opposed by his SP Neptune and I blogged last week about this synchronicity--that the Mormon hierarchy is at the base of his aspiration to be president (SP Moon = MC @'11Aries" = "The President of the Country") though I may not have mentionedclearly enough that Neptune's relationship to falsehoods, fraud, lies, and deceit are found in many news reports, blogs, articles, and fact-checkers' conclusions concerning RNC 2012 which spouted little reality or truth as it attempted to frame issues and present a one-sided picture of the president's term in office.

So what about tonight's DNC event? Is a Moon/South Node (of the Moon) combination a beneficial imprint under which the president will accept his party's nomination?

As you know, the SN of any planet has a Saturnian quality indicating such things as separation, isolation, and the past--so will the American people prefer to separate themselves from President Obama in November 2012--to"break up" with him, as Republicans now advise? If the approval shown during Bill Clinton's exalted nomination of Barack Obama last evening--and the excited reception of other excellent speakers such as Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren and activist for women's rights Sandra Fluke--are indications, then We the People already have our presidential dance partner for January 2013, thanks, and he does not fly a Cayman Islands flag on his luxury yacht nor does he dance with horses!

Now a Moon/SN conjunction does have a Moon-Saturn tone, yes, but it can also be a 'direction-strategy-ambition' marker (Tyl), plus, it shows one who must achieve without cooperation from others (such as that of obstructionist Tea Party members of the House and GOP leaders determined to undermine yet another Democratic president--Rs really are sore losers, aren't they?) Plus, when well-managed, Moon/SN denotes one who is capable of well-planned, concentrated, disciplined efforts. And just like Mr. Clinton last evening, this describes someone I have in mind: President Barack Obama. To paraphrase Mr. Clinton last night, no president including himself could clear up the 8-year economic mess left by Republicans in only four years.

Now Moon/SN also indicates bad timing and separative circumstances of a karmic nature so I'm seeing this duo--which conjoins and stimulates the May 20, 2012 Solar Eclipse 00Gem20 conjunct Alcyone ('something to cry about'; lots of rain; exile; evacuation)--as a picture of the president's acceptance speech tonight being held at the smaller venue of the TIME-Warner Cable arena due to expected thunderstorms around Charlotte which would possibly necessitate a huge and difficult evacuation unless moved indoors, for the venue change will bump thousands of audience members off the attendance list and make them a little grumpy, I imagine.

And thanks to America's ridiculously over-done, clownishly irrational security measures--even though it may be raining like the dickens tonight...no umbrellas allowed.

Yet we'll ALL be super-grumpy if President Obama is re-elected and Republicans continue their self-serving no-compromise act of non-governing in what I think is an attempt to collapse America:

The Taurean Moon of Bill Clinton at DNC 2012

Since this is the closest hint I can find concerning former President Bill Clinton's nomination of President Barack Obama for a second term tonight in Charlotte, NC I set up a horoscope for 10:30 pm edt and found the Moon 17Tau21 rising (ASC 17:08), a handy way for on-the-payroll astrologers to time an important even that requires major publicity. We saw the 5-6-degreed Taurus Moon rising last evening at DNC 2012 as well (previous post) which hinted at the evening's themes of Home, Family, Nurturance, Security, Military Families' Needs, Gardening, etc, and spotlighting First Lady Michelle Obama.

But tonight, it's Bill Clinton's turn to shine, though on behalf of Mr. Obama, and he will with his sensual Taurus Moon @20Tau18 in natal 8th house of Shared Resources, Big Business, and High Finance. (His natal MC--The Goal--conjoins US natal Jupiter 5Can56 (July 4, 1776) with the Sabian Symbol for '6Can' being descriptive of Washington then and now: "Game Birds Feathering Their Nests."

with his natal Moon exalted in Taurus and ruled by lovely Venus, Mr. Clinton's Taurean Moon gives him a placid emotional nature--though he's perhaps a bit on the stubborn side emotionally--and lots of common sense for handling finances; it's also known as the 'green thumb' position (Sakoian) which I find amusing because of his habit of pointing his thumb at audiences and TV cameras during speeches. Wonder if he'll do so tonight?

Now in Charlotte, the Moon rises around 10:30 pm edt this evening which according to the article linked above is just about when The Man From Hope will be speaking or will be about to begin his remarks (after the address of Elizabeth Warren who, being a woman, is also signified by tonight's rising Moon in Taurus, a money sign. This blogger wishes her well in her Senate bid. The American people need her advocacy on our behalf.) The Roll Call vote for Obama'as nomination is set for about 11:00 pm so Clinton's speech should wind up by or just before then yet as we know from experience, the DNC 2012 program may run long with Bill about the place.

As for Bill Clinton's Lunar Return during DNC 2012, it perfects in Charlotte on Thursday September 6, 2012 @4:27:37 am edt--with Barack Obama's natal Sun in Leo rising!--yet Luna has sailed past a beneficial trine with the Sun 14Vir09 (6S09); this Lunar Return horoscope shows some health concerns (as does his recent Solar Return and transits) with two minor appying aspects--semi-square Uranus and sesqui-square Pluto

If only I had time now to post on the speech/introduction by Michelle Obama tonight at DNC 2012 in the TIME-Warner Cable arena in Charlotte, NC with a comforting Taurean Moon precisely on the horizon at 10:00 pm edt (as I have been told by Current TV this morning.) Perhaps the hour will be changed or be delayed, plus, in yesterday's post about the gaveling in of DNC 2012 I used '2:00 pm edt' to 'match' the time that RNC 2012 opened Aug 28 in Tampa, FL, as I was told.

Busy day here today! and I'm certain that you your very self can set up a horoscope for Mrs. Obama's speech tonight and view Moon 5Tau11 = ASC 5Tau46 which emphasizes the unconsicous (karmic) degree of '5Tau' and of '6Tau.'

Our First Lady will focus on Home, Family, Children, Security, Domestic Conditions, all 4th house stuff (supported by a 4th H Venus in Cancer but opposing US natal Pluto, the plutocrats and Underworld elements), and the nurturance of the Taurean Moon (the public; publicity; a woman; womens's issues; the public feeling comfy with Michelle Obama as she talks about societal conditions including nutrition and soldiers' families, gardening, our mood: earthy, building), and re-introduces her community worker husband to the American people.

Or should we accept Romney-Ryabn's Austerity Path ('plan' they won't fully divulge until the trap srings shut on Jan 21, 2013 noon est Cap Bldg) to what they misname "Properity" which intends prosperity and more perks for the upper class and penury and loss for anyone who gets in their warmongering way.

Update 4:55 pm edt: a keen reader informed me earlier that DNC 2012 gavels in today at 5:00 pm edt...thanks for the info! In Charlotte, NC that means that critical-crisis degrees ('20Cap-20Can') are rising/setting which denotes a last-minute glitch perhaps and definitely the vise in which politicians and international bankers have placed the people, both here and abroad.

Oct 3, 2012: Romney's Progr'd Moon to Progr'd Mc = "The President of the Country"

This weekend I'm in the midst of serious typing of my Oct-Nov-Dec 2012 issue #2 of Stars Over Washington Monthly so I'm squishing this post between the final night of RNC 2012 on Thursday, and the start of DNC 2012 early next week. Whew!

Yet as I study the horoscopes of the presidential debates and the one VP debate (their schedule/locations listed below, unless changed) it seems I couldn't put off any longer posting Mitt Romney's Secondary Progressions for the day of the first presidential debate of October 3rd (9:00 pm debate charts are used which doesn't matter much for Progressions--unless for some timely reason it does.) As you know, the symbolic movement of the SP Moon is based on the actual movement of earth's Moon which amounts to approximately one degree per month in astrological progressions. There are many interesting chart factors but I must only mention a few this evening (a new SNL tonight, I think!)

Issuing from Mitt Romney's natal chart, we see that his SP Moon (Moon = 'reiging need'--Tyl) has reached his progressed Midheaven (MC = Aspirations; The Goal; Public Status) and his 5-6 year Quest to be president of the land is very much in sight (MC.)

Now the American people don't need Astrology to inform them of Mr. Romney's longed-for vision (SP Moon opposite SP Neptune--and the sailing Moon occulted mystical Neptune for his nom acceptance speech) yet I thought you might wish to view Romney's SP chart showing Moon-to-MC 'in black and white' in case you hadn't seen it before. The synchronicity is quite striking given the circumstances and I believe that having his SP Neptune 8Lib19 Rx at IC, the Foundation of the Matter, represents on one level his vision of being CEO-in-Chief and on another level the Mormon Church and its hierarchy of 'gods on Earth' (puh!) who apparently intend to place Mitt at America's helm, in the White House.

As always, feel free to disagree, and No, I don't like thinking of four years of a Plutocrat-in-Chief even though I feel that international banking houses have ruled the US government at least since the early 1900s and act through a political arm (Washington agents) and through the US Central Bank, aka, the Federal 'Reserve' System (which at best, is quasi-federal, if that.)

Now perhaps it isn't fair not to post President Obama's SP chart for October 3rd as well but there's little time to spare. However, I can say that with his SP MC @18Cap24 (Honolulu, Hawaii) has SP Saturn 23Cap14 Rx and SP Jupiter 27Cap19 (turned Direct by Progression from its natal sign of AQ and conjunct US natal Pluto Rx) so there are good portents on a societal level (Jup-Sat = societal planets and on a pragmatic get-it-done level, too. Jipter to Pluto shows links to large financiers and funders though 'they say' not as many as Mittens has squirreled away. (Large tax breaks are expected, you know.)

Well, Mr. President's SP Moon on Oct 3rd is @14Ari39 (in SP 12th house of Politics) and he is now on the waning side of a SP Full Moon (perfected @1Ari10 on Nov 6, 2011 near the AP) while Mr. Romney enters his SP Balsamic phase of the Moon on Sept 22, 2012, beginning a period when endings, partings, and separations are prominent and one may take over tasks and responsibilities for someone who, for some reason, cannot carry on. And you may as well know that it pains and annoys me very much to type this presidential possibility.

Friday August 31, 2012: a Full Moon at 8 Pisces 34 perfects at 9:58 am edt and as you know, Full Moons are the culmination or fulfillment stage of something begun two weeks earlier during the New Moon, the seeding stage. This time that would be the New Moon of August 17, 2012 @25Leo08 which opposed US natal Moon in Aquarius, sign of the Water-Bearer.

With this month's cosmic emphasis within the Collective Unconscious shifting from Sun-ruled Leo to Jupiter-Neptune-ruled Pisces, we see our nation's evolutionary progress toward this week's RNC 2012 in Tampa, Florida when Republican candidate Mitt Romney finally was privileged ("humbled," he said) to accept his party's nomination for president of the United States.

And as part of a years-long cycle, Friday's publicity-infused Full Moon reflects a sense of fulfillment for Mr. Romney's recurring dream of presidential leadership by sprinkling fairy dust upon his three natal placements in Pisces: Sun, Mercury, and Mars which, as stated here previously, gives him a Piscean solar essence, ego, and personality (his arrogance and conceit may be quite unconscious!), thought processes and communication style, and Piscean-laced motivations which he uses for business since Pisces can be a successful, creative business-oriented sign as well as a user of deception or obfuscation (and a warmonger which I believe is what we have here--but aren't all our presidents anymore?)

Also, making a fortune by saddling people and companies with massive debt, then blithely sailing away with millions in 'profits' is a good example of the dualism of Pisces. But it does not illustrate a good business model for a White House CEO who says he wishes to "save" an entire country already on the ropes, some of which he and his cronies knotted themselves.

That Pisces rivals Scorpio as the Zodiac's most secretive sign, you also know and it's no surprise that Mitt Romney is known for not telling all he knows, thinks, does, or intends to do. He's a grand-schemes-speculations-Jupiter-Neptune kind of guy who loves to yacht about under a Cayman Islands flag!

So with President Obama's natal Sun and Mercury in the royal sign of Leo the Lion, his newsworthiness has naturally been on the wane somewhat the last two weeks due to the lead-up of mass publicity (Moon) to RNC 2012, Mitt Romney's nom acceptance speech (8.30.12 @10:36 pm edt Tampa, FL), and to the oceanic sign's fishy involvement in a slow-moving yet very destructive Hurricane Isaac which has dumped tons of water on lovely New Orleans for which I feel the compassion of my Pisces Moon. And because of a 'split-off' storm, Charleston, S.C. (one of my favorite southern cities for its beauty and charm, but not for its slavemarket history) has flooded, and for this I am truly sad for the good people there as well as in New Orleans--now suffering grievously again on the 7th anniversary of *Hurricane Katrina!

Yes, it seems that the current Solar Eclipse from May 20, 2012 @00Gem20--conjunct the difficult star Alcyone ('something to cry about'; exile; suffering; refugeeism--or just lots of rain) is bringing America travails and loss as the Tail of the Dragon (South Node of the Moon, ruler of oceans' tides @00Gem00 and as of last evening has twisted itself backwards into 29Scorpio conjunct US Inaugural 2009 Moon @29Sco45, we the people) swipes across the waters and the land, and conjoins the May 20th Solar Eclipse's degree which carries the energies of crying Alcyone.

Well, that's much of what I wish to say for now on the topic of Friday's Full Moon in Pisces for I felt impelled to type something here at SO'W since its degree falls upon my natal Moon.

Hmm...think the lunation might just Make My Day? Maybe I'll just consult with the nearest chair...as long as it doesn't answer me back, right?

And Yet They Go On Speaking Without Saying Anything...

Let me be the nostalgic one this time...my Dad (b. 1908) had a favorite joke after watching political speeches on TV...What's he sayin'? He ain't sayin'...which for me sums up the narrow scope of the Mitt Romney 2012 campaign for president and the hidden cards Mitt is keeping guarded so close to his vest.

Therefore, there seems to be little reason for the GOP to continue conventioning in Tampa, Florida this week (except for the dancin' babes!) since the nominee's name is known--but would someone please clue in Gov. Chris Christie that the nominee isn't him--for he seemed to think so during his 'keynote address' last evening which was mostly about him and more him, and not about a grim-faced Mitt Romney at all. Yet Republicans now appear in their costly 3-day PR ad to promote Mitt and the GOP 2012 platform which if implemented will completely undermine women's health and financial prospects 'going forward' and do more damage besides. Gotta rip up that social safety net they call the New Deal!

Conflicting Messages, Anyone?

Well, as you noticed Tuesday night, Ann Romney spoke before Gov. Cristie and she said it was all about LOVE, then Christie spoke and poo-pooed LOVE and said, No, it's all about RESPECT. His Mama drummed that into him you see, and it sounds as if little Chris must have been born with a retrograde Saturn for he asserted last evening that Mom drove and Dad was only a passenger. Too much personal info? Agreed!

And yet I heard on Current TV today that Mr. Romney expects his VP pick, Rep. Paul Ryan, to perform in a similar fashion tonight: to talk about his past and growing up in a small town. If Ryan complies, will it make for a riveting address from Mr. Austerity Plan himself? We'll have to see...of one thing we may be fairly certain--few details of a proposed Romney presidency will emerge but generalities will be star of the show. Hmm. Must be quite a disturbing political platform--even worse than we fear--when politicans with microphones and cameras pointed at them keep mum about details to keep from frightening folks away from even Republican voting booths!

But wait! Aren't you missing a certain austerity-minded Republican at RNC 2012 so far? Me, too. Wonder where they're keeping Eric Cantor? Will he turn up in Tampa? Too many strippers on the scene? You remember the financial drama of 2011: where the Republican Party was oh-so-willing to drive the US economy over bankruptcy's cliff just to make their favorite (obsessive) point that a half-black fella simply doesn't deserve to live in a White House and play the role of US president.

Does voting Mercury's Station Rx on 11.06.12 tell of a false flag op?

Mercury, planet of voting and ballots, unhelpfully performs a Station Retrograde at 6:03 pm edt on Election Day 2012 (Nov 6) as it strongly opposes President Obama's natal Moon in Gemini--an opposition to his wishes.

Can this be a cosmic indication of an Obama-staged false flag operation meant to disrupt the November 6th election and thus keep him in power?

Well, someone writing for the Canada Free Press seems to think it's possible. And yet...since Mercury will oppose the president's natal Moon (reigning need--Tyl), any terrorist attack on US soil could very well plop a political fly into the DHS ointment, a fly that buzzes even more loudly as an anti-Obama plan with a Rovian flair!

Remember how the Bush-Cheney-Rove gang and the DHS trotted out threatening Osama bin Laden tapes--modified though they may have been--just before election time? Well, unfondly so do I for it swayed many gullible voters into accepting more misfortunes under a warmongering Republican White House. And you know what a financial boondoggle fighting wars on credit card is for the American people for the misguided, misdirected US government is still doing it as if expecting a different outcome!

Aug 11-13, 2012: Perseids peak and Paul Ryan chosen!

After publishing my earlier post on Mitt Romney's pick of Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) as his VP running mate (with Ryan's natal chart shown), I got to thinking (a rare occurrence, not to worry) about how August 11, 12, and 13 is when the Perseid Meteor Shower peaks and there's a lovely Moon-Jupiter glow added to the proceedings, plus Venus. Plus, the Perseids are linked into the ancient mythology and star lore of Perseus the Prince so is Mr. Romney (who intro'd Paul Ryan as "the next president" just as Pres. Obama 'mistakenly' did with his VP pick, Joe Biden in 2008) and Rep. Ryan attempting to link the erstwhile 'royal prince' archetype of Perseus with 'young gun' turned 'top gun' Paul Ryan by slipping it surreptiously and sublimally into the Collective Unconscious?

Remember that in 2008, Barack Obama was linked to the archetype of Apollo, the Sun god! Yet as you know, this sort of propagandistic trick doesn't work nearly as well once and if people become consciously aware of them!

Oh well. It's the weekend so let's just settle in and watch this nice video of the Perseid Meteor Shower and leave varmint-y politicians to do, as usual, their darndest for their success always depends on who can sway the public mood the best...

The Competing Mercuries of Obama v Romney 2012

Obama v Romney 2012 = Proud Lion v Wiggly Fish!

As you know, in Astrology the planet of plans, planning ability, thinking processes, communication styles, bargaining techniques, the senses, manual dexterity, and The Mind is quicksilver Mercury. With the presidential candidates of 2012 said to be running neck'n'neck (except in the 'swing states' where Mr. Obama is ahead), and no plans for 2013 and beyond are being offered up by either of them.

So let's act sassily and draw back a curtain on the natural born talents each man possesses as indicated by the signs in which their natal Mercuries are posited. Aspects to and from Mercury and its house (department of life) position will be included, as well as some info on their Secondary Progressed (SP) Mercuries in 2012 which will show under what influences their Mercuries currently function.

Obama's Natal Mercury in Leo: a Strong Will and Fixed Purposes

President Barack Obama 'BHO' (August 4, 1961 7:24 pm AHST Honolulu, Hawaii) first drew breath when speedy Mercury was traversing dramatic, royal Leo @2:19 in his 6th house of Health-Work-Service; Leo is the sign of The Lion and of the Prodigal Son (or, the Prodigal Father), and here, Mercury is ruled by the Sun (essence; ego.)

BHO's natal Mercury makes two separating (unconscious; talents and tendencies he was born with) aspects: a sextile to the Moon in Gemini (1S02) and an opposition to Jupiter @00AQ52 Rx (degree of US Inaugural Sun each January 20th.) However, Jupiter is 5 degrees 32 mins from n Saturn @25Cap20 Rx, strong in its own sign of Capricorn (government, law, and business) yet Saturn is weakened in a Water house (12th H of Politics with 19Cap01 on its cusp, though some say Saturn 'joys' in the 12th H of Sorrows!), is Rx (weak or absent father--'prodigal'), and as chart-ruler (ASC 18AQ03) must co-rule with his 7th H Uranus in Leo. Perhaps their orb is too wide to count a dissociate Mercury-Saturn opposition here though you may consider it if you wish.

When positively used, a Mercury-Moon sextile denotes one who has learned to be patient and listen to others, and who doesn't allow feelings to affect rational judgment. Engaging in new ways of thinking has brought him onto conflict with those who tend to think in terms of cliches and platitudes and who are too quarrelsome to feel compassion for others. This is an empathetic aspect (made stronger with n Moon in Mercury-ruled Gemini) when thinking Mercury is balanced with the feeling Moon, yet a tendency to placate others may be noticed. Retreat from intellectual attack is used as a strategy so that a counterattack may be made from a different perspective. Decision-making based on accomodating others may be seen by opponents as a character weakness and decisions are often overruled by those he wishes to appease. Yet an up-side to this sextile is a pronounced talent for debating which naturally is helpful to President Obama in Politics.

Mercury opposite Jupiter gives much inspiration but practicality must be found elsewhere in the chart. Having Saturn in Capricorn suffices most of the time especially if dependable (and probably older) advisers give pragmatic advice! The road to success is presumed to be 'easy' by this opposition though others may be alienated along the way if a potential know-it-all attitude is allowed too much of an upper hand in the personality. Inconsistent statements and judgments which must later be reconsidered and 'walked back' are possible if details are overlooked, ignored, or not given their proper weight.

Yet inattention to detail is mitigated by having Mercury oriental (planet that rises last before the Sun), a condition which always dots the Is and crosses the Ts, and has a need "to conform to clearly defined expectations and procedures" (Tyl), a basic trait which clued me in back in November 2007 (when Saturn opposed Uranus, remember?) that Senator Obama would be at least as much of a status-quo Saturnian president in many areas rather than a purely radical Uranian. Mercury oriental may be considered inconclusive since it's often the case that Mercury rises before the Sun, yet the president has carried on many programs and practices--and cabinet members' tenures--from the Bush years which gives credence to the Saturnian theory in my view.

With a Mercury-Jupiter opposition, an insatiable appetite for knowledge is pronounced though sometimes fragments of information may be deemed 'enough' as the Mercural mind leaps forward; law, education, government, writing, and public relations are favored by this opposition (thinking v expansion brings astute awareness with Jupiter relating as a future-oriented Aquarian--Saturn is the traditional ruler of AQ) though legal entanglements may occur at key times.

President Obama's successful passage of the Affordable Health Care Act (which should be 'Health Insurance Act') out of the starting gate of his presidency in 2009/2010 may be in part attributable to his Mercury (plans, legislation, agreements) in the 6th H of Health along with the White House's focus on the American diet and the sorriness of it.

Another aid for his Mercury-Jupiter opposition is that both planets are part of a Mystic Rectangle pattern (practical idealism) long with Moon and Midheaven which gives his Mercury-Jupiter-Moon energies an Angular place in the broader world in which to operate (if you count an Angle as part of a planetary pattern, that is; MC = Career and Public Standing.) Charisma is indicated by this sparkly cosmic pattern as well and you may agree that he's favored with a sparkle which informs his showy Leonine style of rhetoric with its dramatically-timed pauses.

In BHO's natal chart, Mercury rules 5th H of Risk-Taking, Gambling, Creative Pursuits, and Children (cusp in Gemini = two children!), and 8th H of Corporations, Big Business, Shared Resources, Transformation, Debt, Credit, Insurance, Legacies, and the Occult (cusp 25Vir55, sign of The Critic and closely associated with America's founding mystics.)

Now there is one natal midpoint picture in which n Mercury plays a role...

Mercury-Mars = NN: people with similar interests in expressing or teaching competitive practices; acquaintances with irritating styles of speech (ex: Romney's Tour des Gaffes? Boehner's tears for fears?); communicating with associates initiates their activities. (MM.)

The Current Condition of Obama's Secondary Progressed Mercury

When BHO's natal chart is progressed to August 2012 (approximately one degree per year), we find that SP Mercury has moved into balancing, diplomatic Libra (in SP 7th H of Partnerships--Libra is also a war sign.) After passing through most of Leo and 30 degrees of studious Virgo, SP Mercury is now snugged between SP Mars 25Lib33 and SP Neptune 9Sco39 and is now ruled by the Libran Venus. A midpoint picture slowly perfects as SP Mercury progresses nearer the middle degree of Mars-Neptune...any, all, or none may apply:

Mars-Neptune = Mercury: fast but angry encounters with holy people (or, holier-than-thou people?); showing adaptability when taking the power of dreams or visions to others; energetic aquisition of mystical or magical knowledge (Mystic Rectangle; Mercury rules 8th H. (Mdpt pic: M. Munkasey.)

Romney's Natal Mercury in Pisces: Swim Away, Swim Away!

As noted previously on this blog, Mitt Romney 'MR' (March 12, 1947 9:51 am EST Detroit, MI) was born when Mercury Rx, Mars, and Sun were in Pisces, sign of The Fish--or, more precisely, the Two Fish, so he thinks, acts, and is a Pisces. One of the two fish swims up, the other swims down...which way does Mitt swim in this old world? It's a choice upon which his life and ultimate destiny depend as he tries to avoid being caught in the net of accountability.

First, it's only fair to note that thinking Mercury in oceanic Pisces can be quite confused, vague, and even deceptive and its Rx condition only makes MR's flip-floppy reconsiderations of his reconsiderations more palpable and problematic--if one is trying to be clear. Well, after his recent Gaffe Tour of the UK, Israel, and Poland, he's given some of us cause to wonder if The Fish realizes that his remarks are caught on camera phones and on modern media recording devices--and that his flubs only make him look dumb, anachronistic, and/or deceptive when he says that he didn't say what we heard him say. Ah, Pisces, you are so easily confused! And often ensared within your own net of illusions. More info on this, below...

And yet...Mercury in Pisces has telepathic abilities, a vivid imagination (trouble separating fact from fiction?), and is vulnerable to subliminal suggestion. Is this how he 'studies' for political speeches, events, or interviews? Hmm...wonder who stands over the aquarium? Are they still of this world?

Now Mercury is 7 Degrees 41 minutes from an applying conjunction with feisty Mars which may account somewhat for MR's interest in Politics. Perhaps if they were closer he could express himself with sharper focus though I suppose that in his remarks there is evidence of a 'let the chips fall where they may' style to a certain degree along with a talent for debate. So he "misspeaks"? Let the chips fall where they may, for he's always self-satisfied!

Natal Mercury is involved in a midpoint picture...

Sun-Mars = Mercury: flexibility when meeting competitors; mental training for physical activities (MM.)

A closer applying aspect (5A35) by Mercury is a lovely trine with priestly Chiron denoting powerful healing and occult skills and a pleasurable sense of intuitive knowing--'a wise old soul' is he (Clow.) The Mercury-Chiron cycle relates to commerce as well as to communication and intellect (Nolle) and a trine between them shows MR to be a communicator (Reagan returns?) and role model or teacher for the masses (no thanks--financial murkiness is not a good role model to my way of Mercury-in-Capricorn thinking!) An aspect between Mercury-Chiron points to the importance of Mormonism in Mr. Romney's life and possibly his position as a priest.

In addition--and here lies one of the quirky facets of MR--there is a separating (unconscious; inherited from father and/or mother) square between Mercury and his 1st house Uranus @17Gem51. (Radical rebel Uranus also squares n Sun 21Pis11, see below.) All three Pisces planets are in 11th H of Groups and Associations (the secretive, cultish LDS Church?); his Mercury-Uranus square bestows eccentricity in his thinking and opinions which are usually at odds with the rest of society's prevailing beliefs. Obnoxiousness and belligerence (bullying) are indicated by a Mercury-Uranus square; a rude impatience with established facts--supporting Pisces' murky relationship with the truth--forces Mr. Romney to 'create whatever truths require the least commitment' from him--he 'refuses to accept responsibility for what he says'! (Pelletier.)

Projecting himself prematurely, as he did in the UK, Israel, and Poland, may lead to being discredited and progressives and liberals are having a jolly time of it from Stewart and Colbert to Stephanie Miller and others you can probably name! His inability to compromise--Mercury SQ Uranus--indicates much learning is ahead if Mr. Romney wishes to be thought of as a 'statesman' in spite of what his adviser Dan Senor said today in defense of Mr. Romney's (weirdly out-of-touch) statement on the Palestinian people.

Sun square Uranus adds more eccentricity and sometimes unprincipled behavior to the candidate's personality and supports his tendency to be at odds with society--here is an 'upstart' and a 'troublemaker' says this aspect. "Bush on steroids" may well describe the Uranian Romney, as did Vice President Biden recently.

Romney's natal chart is ruled by mutable Mercury as is his 5th H of Risk-Taking, Gambling, Creative Pursuits, and Children; nebulous Neptune Rx in Libra is posited in 5th H. Whatever house has Gemini on its cusp (ASC = his nibs) is where multiplicity and/or duplicity constellates in the chart; Neptune is the planet of fraud and falsehood, and its sign of Pisces is associated with priestly functions.

The Current Condition of Romney's Secondary Progressed Mercury

Progressing Romney's natal horoscope to August 2012, we find SP Mercury in Taurus 25:36 conjunct SP Sun 25:16--both in SP 11th H and amongst the stars of Taurus the Bull (the mystical Pleiades of the Seven Weeping Sisters.) As you know, Alcyone is the major star of the Pleiades and was occulted and stimulated by the May 20, 2012 Solar Eclipse. Alcyone's key words are: something to cry about (Brady); in exile; unlucky (A. Louis.)

(Let's not mention here how intolerant, greedy, and stubborn Taurus can be, okay?)

Not Mercurial but of importance in Romney's SP chart because of his candidacy is his SP Moon @8Ari29 which is now reaching SP MC (The Goal; Aspirations) @10Ari48. '11Ari' = "The President of the Country" in Sabian Symbols so we clearly see his aspiration and goal on display, yet SP Moon exactly opposes SP Neptune (8Lib19 Rx) at the Foundation (IC) of the chart! This denotes his dreamy hopes, a mask worn for the public, and the unstable conditions created by his obfuscations and deceptions--his self-delusions and illusions of grandeur.

A Moon-Neptune opposition also brings in the public (Moon) and the media (Neptune) along with the propaganda and fakery the media always treats us to. It's a creative duo, yes, but can show his illusions about himself ('11Ari') which may not be based on solid ground--for watery Neptune may wash them down The Drain (IC.) My feeling is that neither candidate puts forth definite ideas about the economy while campaigning for a deeper reason than a wish not to provide a target for an opponent to lambast: because those who call the tune from behind the scenes will decide what's in store for the American people and for the US economy, and whichever mouthpiece inhabits the White House come January 21, 2013 must simply follow the globalist script or else. Very sorry to type it, but there it is. If you don't know this already, you may as well for demons must be faced and identified if they are ever to be vanquished.

The good news is that privatizing Social Security is no longer in the Ryan Budget but is cautious yet risk-taking Romney, the self-defensive Pisces, "subtly distancing himself" from Paul Ryan?

Romney-McCain-Palin and Those Dag Dabbit Tax Returns

Well, I almost titled this post: Cheater-Geezer-Quitter but I'd better not...

John McCain "personally vouches" for Mitt Romney's tax returns! Even though in 2008, McCain wasn't actually involved in the vetting process for his Vice Presidential pick, one of which was Mitt The Bainster Romney who, it is said, released years of his tax returns to the McCain team.

And you know who McCain's VP choice turned out to be: the awesomely unqualified for the White House, Sarah Palin, who would have been a mere wheeze'n'sneeze away from the presidency had the Older One expired while in office. Unfathomable! Why, it's as if the GOP wanted to lose in 2008, then saddle a Democratic president with the financial and military messes they'd made through eight years of Bush-Cheney---knowing he'd be hamstrung in so many ways! Especially since Republican obstructionism could easily make a Democratic White House look bad--a perfect ploy to counter a landslide vote.

Well, the above NY Magazine article makes some great points with quotes from John McCain on the topic of Romney's tax returns, yet one thing I expected was missing: that in 2008, as the Democrats and the public were coming off a Mile High Stadium high topped by the electrifying acceptance speech of Apollo--er, Barack Obama--the entire news and blogging cycle was promptly commandeered by the GOP's announcement of John McCain's running mate, the lovely yet virtually unknown, Sarah Palin.

Now does anyone think that Mr. Romney, with his lackluster 'charisma', secretive religious practices, dodgy financial baggage, condescending attitude, and awkward rhetorical style could have come anywhere near capturing the public's attention and imagination as did a VP choice on the scale of former beauty queen Sarah Palin, the lady who (the very next day) stole the thunder from DNC 2008 and its fascinating orator, Barack Obama?

Then you and I must not think along the same lines at all!
