May 2021: Conflict, Domination, Suffering, and Loss in the Middle East

Monday May 17, 2021: After taking a weekend break, this week is slammed with astrological tasks and tasks in the real world. However, this morning I've managed to cobble together the following bi-wheel with the State of Israel's 1948 Horoscope, center, and the Lunar Eclipse of May 26, 2021 @5Sag25, outer.

Obviously, the ongoing Saturn-Uranus square tells a tale of war, conflict, rigid authority figures, and upheaval, as noted on the chart, with the Saturn-Uranus duo signifying Israel and Palestine, and their square a very 'touchy' aspect and the duo suggesting 'violent people' (Ebertin).

What the Lunar Eclipse, a Full Moon across the Gemini-Sagittarius axis of truth and ethics, will reveal or uncover I do not know and I should confess that in the last couple of years my eye left the hotbed area of the Middle East. Probably my last major notice was when Tr*mp was utilized to announce the removal of Israel's capital city from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, as per the Scriptual 70-year Fig Tree Prophecy (1948 + 70 = 2018).

Now as you can see, there are Fists of God in the 1948 and the 2021 horoscope. The May 26th Lunar Eclipse's Ascendant @28Vir12 ("29 Virgo" = "A Man Gaining Secret Knowledge From an Ancient Scroll He Is Reading") is apex of a Fist with the Saturn-Uranus square at its base. As a midpoint picture (listed, lower right corner) potentials are for: 'rebellion; provocation; separation (Ebertin); sudden indifference to law' (Munkasey). Noel Tyl adds, 'the loner's position is established'.

Yes, that's President Biden's natal Moon @00Tau59 conjunct 1948 Descendant! See The Guardian's May 16th article Joe Biden feels political ground shift as Israel-Gaza conflict rages on due to his decades-long "resolute defense of Israel" which is quite unsurprising since, in the past, Mr. Biden has declared himself to be a Zionist.

(Note that yours truly always separates Israel's National Zionist hierarchy from the good people of Israel. They, and the Palestinian people, obviously deserve much better than they're getting from the power-craving leadership on both sides. 'Malicious scheming' is afoot via 2021 Neptune-ASC = Mercury which also suggests being 'guided by erroneous perceptions' - Ebertin; naturally, misjudgment follows). Add 1948 Uranus @24Gem21 to 2021 Neptune-ASC = 'being hindered, harmed, defamed by others; sudden troubles and/or illness through others'.

Israel's 1948 Fist/s of God are listed, left side (Pluto-NN = stretched to Saturn-NN, and highlighted in green with Jupiter Rx @27Sag38 at apex: 'attaining a position of power by force' ('28 Sag' = "An Old Bridge over a Beautiful Stream'). Well, the bridge could be beautiful if 'forgiving the unforgiveable' were accomplished (1948 Chiron in Scorpio). But as you know, this is an ancient conflict (2021 South Node conjunct 1948 Nemesis = divine retribution; the unbeatable foe - conjunct warring Antares). Plus, the Lunar Eclipse of May 26, 2021 basically times a Nemesis Return for Israel while simultaneouly eclipsing the State's 1948 position of Nemesis!

So as you see above, there are several more chart factors worthy of note but the Nemesis Return of Israel and the current conflict, loss, and suffering between Palestine and Israel make it difficult, even risky, for my Pisces Moon to reveal more so I shall leave it to you, dear reader, to consider the rest if and as you wish.

April 3, 2020: After writing Stars Over Washington for nearly 15 years, it turns out that I'm quite an expert at assuming that any reader who bravely ventures herein possesses a measure of astrological knowledge. And once upon a time I tended to assure those who didn't 'speak astrologese' not to fret for my posts were written in English so they had only to ignore the astrology parts.

Now I see that such a work-around probably didn't work for many readers. In fact, a reader recently tasked me with providing a key for those who don't understand all the terms and abbreviations. She may think I've forgotten but no! It's only that events have been overly time consuming, as for us all. So this I hope to write and publish here before much longer in a post all its own.

But tonight I want to mention a factor of concern - or at least it's a factor that may help explain in general terms using Astrology some of our current conditions including health matters and our enforced circumstances of 'isolation and 'social distancing'. And this is where a basic knowledge of astrological terms and principles would come in handy - if only so that this post could be on the briefer, less cumbersome side rather than blossoming into e-book form. Oh well, let's give it a go and see where we land, shall we?

US Solar Return 2020 and a YOD of crisis

Special task, crossroads, turning point, karmic opportunity--all describe potentials that may be shown by a YOD pattern when it turns up in a horoscope. But another connotation of a YOD (which visually favors a squished triangle, aka, a Finger of God) is that it can symbolize a health indicator suggesting crisis conditions which must be handled with care when the time comes. (As you know, timing is everything! And our SR 2020 chart is 'good for' one year until America's next Solar Return in 2021.)

And so a YOD (of sorts) has turned up in America's Solar Return 2020 Horoscope, our 'birthday' chart. Please note that 'SR' stands for 'Solar Return' calculated for the moment the Sun returns to its natal degree, minute, and seconds (if known) when a person or entity is born or founded--in this case, America (July 4, 1776 5:09 pm LMT is the chart I use, Philadelphia, Pa) with 12Sag08 Rising, Cardinal World Point 00Libr47 at Midheaven, and Moon @27AQ09 (We The People) in SR 3rd house. And if you're familiar with the US natal horoscope, you know that it contains a Thor's Hammer pattern (or, Fist of God) with a Sun-Saturn square at its base pointing toward We The People's Moon. This pattern shows that our country has had health issues (Sun-Saturn) from the start, particularly for women (Moon) aggravated or blocked by men (Sun square Saturn), plus, a midpoint picture is formed of Sun-Saturn = Moon denoting 'emotional depression due to organic troubles; fear' (which leaders use against us to direct our behavior en masse - as they do now--we're "at war" once again), and/or 'bereavement' (Ebertin). This, we've got.

So the Ascendant rising in our SR 2020 Horoscope (@27Scorpio, a health sign with regenerative power) is part of the YOD pattern and thus this is not a traditional YOD pattern for there should be planets in all three points. Plus, the apex of the 'YOD' is the North Node of the Moon at a critical-crisis 29th degree of Gemini. Why, this is not a YOD at all, exclaims astrologers! Okay, but what I'm actually trying to get at is the midpoint picture formed by the trio of Saturn-ASC-North-Node. For as a pair in the biological sphere, Saturn-ASCendant indicates potentials for certain health conditions (exs: 'skin troubles; middle ear inflammation; defective connective tissues or organs; myopia'), but also 'suffering caused by the environment; disadvantages through others; segregation or separation from others; feeling hindered or depressed; suffering from limiting or poor conditions; hindered or inhibited development; a wrong outlook on life' - or some combination which we're feeling already. Add the directional North Node and we have:

Saturn-ASC = North Node: 'secluding oneself from others; being placed in unpleasant family circumstances' (Ebertin).

'Unpleasant circumstances' is seconded by Noel Tyl.

Now let's close this dreary post (intended to inform not worsen!) with Michael Munkasey's evaluation of the difficult Saturn-ASC duo in Hegelian Dialectic form and note that you'll find the Trump 'administration' of purposefully inept kleptocrats and his dreary mishandling of our current health crisis somewhere within the following potentials--if not within them all:

Thesis: Difficulty for others to understand internal leadership or direction; policy or authority dictated or restricted by external demands; inflexibility or an inability to adapt to necessary change.

Antithesis: A replacement or a lowering in status of advisers or leaders; curtailment of programs for the disadvantaged; a disregard for checks and balances within an enterprise; repression as a function of policy.

Well, I don't know about you, dear reader, but I think Mr. Munkasey has described our tragic health calamity all too well based on astrological principles and translated into English.

Astrologer Alice Portman has worked with the volatile and dynamic pattern called a Thor's Hammer, aka, a Fist of God, and here is a discussion of the pattern for those who are curious. As you see in the upper right horoscope pictured here, a Thor's Hammer pattern has formed in America's Secondary Progressions ('SP') with a Moon-Mars square at its base pointing toward our national progressed Midheaven, the Career-Public-Reputation-Social-Status Point (2Gem25).

As you see, America's totem planet of war and revolution, Uranus (SP @7Gem07), will be taken across our SP Midheaven in 2024 but that topic is beyond the scope of this post. Suffice to say that dramatic adjustments will be needed and major changes of direction should be expected via disruptive, chaos-loving Uranus to MC. (Note that this December 3, 2019 SP chart is based on America's July 4, 1776 5:09 pm LMT Philadelphia, PA horoscope; a different hour will give slightly different timing.)

On the left of the chart are a few of the December 3, 2019 transits (2:00 pm est) to our SP planets (same date, same hour) including transit Uranus opposite SP Saturn, Saturn square SP Mars and conjunct SP Moon (legal eagle Saturn aggravating the Hammer), and Neptune still 'covering for' the SP Sun (the leader) with brief indications for each. You'll discover more factors, I suspect. Yet, as we know, Astrology adds the element of timing and assures us that this situation is only temporary!

But for now, we're in a pickle, but I won't mention the conditions and situations of turmoil we find ourselves in these days for you know all too well what they are. And if you look on the right center of the chart, you'll see a few general notes about the Moon-Mars square and you may agree with me that Donald Trump's selfish, nitpicking nature is described ("Offense-Defense" - Alan Oken). My observation is that a Moon-Mars square denotes someone who thinks they're the only ones who deserve to become furious!

Thing is, the Thor's Hammer (with royal Regulus and Apollo rising, he probably thinks of himself as a godlike "Thor"--and as a "hammer') pattern does a pretty good job of describing Big T as well: volatile, willful and hard to discipline as a child (plus, he still behaves like a toddler so --), and continues to act out stressful feelings by rebelling against society from which he receives severe criticism. Plus, there's no third planet to act as an outlet for the blocked, bottled up energies--only the Midheaven as noted, above, which represents the World Stage on which Trump regularly makes a dumblehead of himself while embarrassing America, lowering our national reputation even further, and subjugating our nation to pipsqueak Russia.

And so, my fellow Americans, as the Trump impeachment inquiry grinds on, we as a collective have progressed or evolved to a state described in part by a Thor's Hammer pattern and by the cosmic midpoint picture of Moon-Mars = MC: "self-promotion" and/or, "getting things off the ground" (Tyl) but also, on a lighter note, of "a woman with strong principles" (Ebertin)! Now that sounds better, doesn't it?

Was Journalist Michael Hastings Assassinated? (video of his burning car)

On the Mysterious Death of Journalist Michael Hastings

As soon as I heard of the death in a 'car crash' of Michael Hastings in Los Angeles I set up a horoscope of the tragedy (June 18, 2013 at 4:30 am PDT; source: news reports) and saw that signatures of mayhem were afoot.

Since then I've been on alert for information on what entity or issue he was researching because the info might turn out to be full of clues as to the How, Why, Where, and Who of this very sad matter. Known for his game-changing Rolling Stone article on General Stanley McCrystal--The Runaway General--Mr. Hastings was a fearless truth seeker of the sort that no power manipulator tolerates for long once their revelations become too inconvenient or interfere too deeply in The Power Game.

'Naming names' is a dangerous business in the power-mad world of Politics.

At impact, Pinto cars can explode and burst into flames. A Mercedes will not:

Below, you see the 'crash' horoscope with US natal Uranus 8Gem55 rising (our nation's 'totem' planet of revolution and rebellion) along with transiting Mars @12Gem44 with Gemini being the sign of traveling Mercury and of writers and journalists. Sun and Jupiter are rising as well and are about to conjoin in their yearly meet-up which may indicate a promise of sunlight cast upon someone of a Jupiterian nature: generals, politicians, bankers, religious leaders, professors, etc.

It's an Hour of controlling Saturn (stoppage; loss), plus, in the transiting 2nd house (National Treasury and Earning Ability) are Mercury the Scribe or the Messenger still within orb of vengeful Venus, with both planets stimulating the starry Gemini Twins, Castor and Pollux--each with writing and creating talents of their own.

Actually, the first moment I heard of his death I was reminded of the mysterious death (assassination) in Summer 1991 of writer Danny Casolaro whose natal Mercury @19Cancer conjoins these writers' planets and stars. His bathtub murder occurred under the influence of an 11 South Solar Eclipse that hit his natal Mercury that summer with themes of: 'the need for sudden reforms; old ideas and methods fail and new systems are required to deal with events--any blocks could be violently or tragically removed' (Brady.)

Mr. Casolaro had researched and was about to publish a book on The Octopus, as the global crime syndicate is sometimes called--names would be named and those names could not allow that to happen. (Note that conjunct Desc is Cupido, a descriptor of The Family, The Syndicate, Corporatism.) The last manifestation of 11S was at a critical degree (29Can26) on July 22, 2009 and you may draw your own conclusions from that date and the events of 2009. (There are also resonances between PROMIS spying software in 1991 with its alleged 'backdoors' and the current NSA Prism surveillance program but they're beyond the scope of this post.)

Here's a bit that I wrote a while back concerning Danny Casolaro (no edits):

Casolaro's murder/assassination (Aug 9/10, 1991) preceded the Great Conjunctions of the New World Order planets, Uranus and Neptune: Feb 2, 1993 (19Cap34), Aug 20, 1993 (18Cap48), and Oct 24, 1993 (18Cap33--the chart I generally use as the NWO's birth chart.)

However, transit North Node (NN) was pointing to 18Cap45 (NWO's Uranus/Neptune Conjunction degree '18Cap') the weekend of Casolaro's death by deep wrist-slashing...a similar mode of death as UK's nuclear expert Dr. David Kelley's mysterious 'suiciding' of July 17, 2003--when tr Chiron (The Wound) was at 14Cap37, conj tr Neptune-Pluto midpoint - at the same degree of tr Neptune during Casolaro's last weekend in Martinsburg, West Virginia. This is 3 degrees past the UK's natal Sun and opposes the US natal Sun, the two players with the most to gain from Dr. Kelley's demise.

(Casolaro checked into the Sheraton Inn "shortly before noon" on Aug 8, 1991, if you'd care to take a look.)

So did Michael Hastings and his reporting 'fly too close to the Sun'?

Asteroid Icarus may say, Yes, especially since it represents an archetype that may be used to signify assassination. Here I've penned in the asteroid's position @9AQ00 Rx in the 9th house of Publishing, and outside the chart, the natal placements of natal Sun 7AQ55 and Mercury 13AQ01 of Michael Hastings, born January 28, 1980 ('noon' EST) in Burlington, Vermont. Therefore, natal Sun-Mercury = June 18, 2013 Icarus.

Getting back to the chart's Ascendant @8Gem28 (the event itself), we know that combinations of Mars-Uranus signify explosions and fires (and fast traveling), and at Ascendant the pair denotes those who find pleasure in upsetting others, abusive people who impede one's progress (ex: assassination), acts of violence, accidents, upsetting events, physical injury, and/or arrest.

The 18 North Pre-Natal Eclipse Saros Series of Michael Hastings indicates that accidents and physical injury are themes in his life (he covered wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and lost his fiance there in an explosion.) And here we see that the chart's Hammer/s of Thor (or, Fist/s of God) point to the 10th house Neptune @5Pis20 Rx (conjunct President Obama's natal 1st house Chiron Rx), a planet associated with death and assassination as is Pluto @10Cap37 Rx in the 8th house of Death and Transformation.

Well, there are more chart factors to discuss yet I must mosey for now. Watching his car burning reminds me of the Illuminati's 'eternal flame' of assassination, a possible implication that I despise with every fiber of my being. Yes, this is a post I had hoped would not be necessary but the video above made me determined to record some of the astrological portents concerning the untimely, cruel death of truth-finder and American patriot, Michael Hastings. I hereby thank him for his valuable service to our nation. May he R.I.P.

Obama on Troop Withdrawals: Sun/Pluto = Uranus (6.22.11)

At 8:00 pm edt tonight, President Obama addresses the nation concerning the beginning of his promised withdrawal of US troops from foreign sands and occupied lands. In remembrance of Colin Powell's unheeded admonition of 2003, "we broke it" but we can't fix it, and now our nation is broken, too. Part of someone's plan all along? I believe so though naturally you are welcome to disagree with this tiny little blogging gnat with a common good viewpoint.

Looking at the horoscope for June 22, 2011 8:00 pm edt in Washington DC, the North Node (NN = encounters; meetings; contacts; future direction) @ 23Sag23 is rising and points us toward the Lunar Eclipse @ 24Sag23 of June 15, 2011.

In the Lunar Eclipse post, I mention financial disclosures and other potential revelations from this Jupiter-ruled eclipse so it's interesting to note that Fed Head Ben Bernanke is to make a statement around 2:00 pm edt today (ASC 10Lib55 w Saturn 10Lib31 rising: "11Lib" = "A Professor Peering Over His Glasses"; Mercury 12Can28 at MC 12Can27 with US natal Sun at MC, too...see below for Mercury to US n Sun implications.)

NN conjunct Ascendant indicates one with an ability to shape the personality to fit social trends (see Neptune/MC = ASC, below); the conjunction favors popularity yet may also lead to superficiality with actions based on the lowest common denominator of popularly accepted behavior rather than on fundamental convictions (Sakoian, The Astrologer's Handbook.)


As President Obama Orates

Tonight at 8:00 pm edt, another chart factor is prominent as noted in the title of this post: a dynamic T-Square pattern between the Sun/Pluto opposition pointing toward an apex Uranus (behaving radically in Mars-ruled Aries, and posited in 6th house of Military and Police Service; Moon 25Pis50 approaches disruptive Uranus 4Ari27 in 3rd H of Communications; emotional suffering is denoted by Moon in Pisces and the families of our soldiers can attest to that - it's a 10-year war with no end in sight. Psychotic!

A power-filled midpoint picture is formed by the T-Square participants:

Sun/Pluto = Uranus: carrying out fanatic reforms without regard for oneself (or for America? jc); sudden obsession with gaining more power and control; surprising suspicion of basic power; new individual perspectives; rebellion.

Joining this picture as apex planet is America's natal Saturn 14Lib48, so we have:

Sun/Pluto = n Saturn: ruthless overcoming of obstacles; separation by a Higher Power; physical impediments; imprisonment.

Is God's Fist Shaking?

Another planetary pattern is a Fist of God formed when two or more planets are squared (90 degrees = blockages; obstacles) and both are sesquisquare (135 degr, an irritant yet dynamic) a third planet/s. Here the 'Fist' is being shaken at MC (The Goal: Aspirations; Public Status) which @ 14Lib58, has US natal Saturn upon it - and America is in the midst of a Saturn Return (when chickens of accountability tend to come home to roost every 28 years or so; as we've seen, the Vietnam War lessons of Saturn have not been learned by lying, war-profiteering Vulcans.) The third and final conjunction to our national Saturn occurs on August 28, 2011.

The Fist of God configuraton also creates midpoint pictures and involves the confused, misdirected, or deceptive motivations and actions of a Mars/Neptune square (a natal echo of the US horoscope 1776):

Mars/Neptune = MC: hopelessness; failures; a state of weakness (ya think? jc); discontent feelings of inferiority (we're not accustomed to those, are we? our government has driven us to it - jc); a lack of energy; success in pushing or prodding ideas upon others; one's own world prevails (ah, the unrealistic White House and Pentagon bubbles of world-government Utopian ideology! jc); integrating messages from dreams in order to overcome anger or fear.

Mars/Neptune = n Saturn: persevering in spite of fear; being taken advantage of; a sense of futility; blockage of anger toward those who avoid reality.

Planet of Communications and Oration, Mercury 12Can59 is in 7th H and now transits US natal Sun (leadership) indicating a couple of days when ego and personal goals are highlighted and there's a strong identification with ideas which then provide a more aggressive, dramatic forum in which to express them. Ideas of others may be appropriated and presented as one's own to create something unique. (Personally, I don't care who gets the credit: Bring Our Troops Home Now and stop exporting terror across the globe. You Utopian idiots have bitten off even more than you can chew.)

Rising: the WHAT? Point of Any Horoscope

ASC 23SAg59 has the Neptune/MC midpoint upon it along with the transiting NN and this forms two midpoint pictures which relate directly with the president's speech and performance this evening:

Neptune/MC = NN: sharing of bad intentions with others; unpleasant associations; bad company; finding others who share the vision; people listen to your dreams of the future.

Neptune/MC = ASC: acting and pretending; pursuit of wrong objectives; uncertainty; insecurity; enhanced need to discuss dreams and visions; settings which allow dreams of the future; strong mental focus on plans for a future direction.

Now with expansive Jupiter as chart-ruler, applying aspects of the Great Benefic tell how things will proceed from tonight's presentation delivered during a disseminating phase (putting out the info and propaganda) of the Moon (publicity.)

In order, Jupiter's applying aspects are:

1. sextile Chiron: seeking opportunities for self-expression and having a forum for advancing an approach to transformation; 'bully pulpit' broadcasting is a perfect vehicle and Jupiter is in bullish Taurus @ '4Tau' = "A Rainbow's Pot of Gold."

2. sextile Sun 00Can59: puts best foot forward in communications with optimism and confidence (the 'acting and pretending' mentioned above? jc); this Jupiter is well-armed with information, aka, 'an ideas person'; imposing one's priorities leads to success.

3. trine Pluto 6Cap21 Rx: personal influence or control expand - or the impression of having such is successfully conjured; greater understanding of how to gain control is possible; motivation is for social change and others are stimulated toward supporting these efforts; access is given to privileged information.

Altogether, the broadcast (Jupiter's realm) of President Obama's remarks should be successful on some level yet the American people (and people of other nations who prefer harmony and life to war and destruction) may not be much persuaded with relational Venus conjoining South Node, a separative and Saturnian point, so that others (us) are busy or indisposed. And Venus, here ruling Jupiter, relates to money and evaluations - even some congress members now admit we can no longer afford to wage three wars, one of the biggest duhs ever seen in modern times.

(Confession: since the wars' beginnings, I've been completely indisposed to the entire one-world-domination misadventure of the US government overseas and unhappily predicted in The Fray at Slate Magazine years go that Bush-Cheney would lead the US into bankruptcy. Sometimes you just want to be wrong. However, most replies from fellow Fraysters included, 'America is too rich to ever go bankrupt' My thought is that it's taking a combination of outside and inside forces to affect it so the global power elite may fulfill their Great Plan for America to 'build anew upon ruins'.)

So with tonight's presidential speech beginning with wealthy Pluto in 1st house, we may expect unseen, unforeseen, and tremendously powerful forces to influence issues no matter what President Obama says he 'wants' or intends to do. These forces now oppose the Sun (5A07) which will soon reach its 1776 position in America's natal chart (or charts, set for July 4, 1776 with Sun 13Cancer+.)

Then 'Independence Day 2011' will arrive on July 4th with another post soon published here displaying America's Solar Return 2011 Horoscope in which the Sun/Pluto opposition will be angular across the 4/10 security/public status axis and a more exact 'power struggle' opposition of tr Pluto v. America's natal Jupiter 5Can56 will tell the tale of what's being perpetrated by shadowy international figures determined to dismantle (after looting) our nation.

Often a Solar Eclipse can bring things to light which were hidden especially if it connects with a person's particular natal and progressed horoscopes. With this Wednesday's June 1, 2011 Solar Eclipse @ 11Gem02, Mr. Edwards (born with an Airy Sun Gem-Moon Gem personality blend!) has had his private business put out for all to review, critique, and bring charges.

And since Solar Eclipses are freshly seeded New Moons, the legal case against the former Democratic presidential candidate is at its beginning.

UPDATE 9.9.09 @ 9:30 pm edt: the president began his speech at 8:17 pm edt, ended at 9:03 pm. I was interested to see what he was saying when Mars crossed the Ic of the chart, the Foundation Point. I now believe that it is primarily Mr. Obama who is signified by Mars due to his strong performance and an undercurrent of anger beneath it.

When Mars 'jumped' the Ic at 8:33 pm the president had already begun detailing his plan and at 8:33 pm he mentioned setting up "a new insurance exchange, a marketplace" to increase competition, bring down costs, and which is envisioned to be operative "in four years."

This tallies with Mars' Sabian Symbol here, as discussed below: "A Large Diamond Not Completely Cut." If a marketplace is set up, it will be worth a lot of diamonds, won't it?

And since he actually began speaking at 8:17 pm, the ASC degree is most apt: "11Aries": "The President of the Country"...IDEALIZATION.

He ended at 9:03 pm with a critical ASC degree of 29Ari20, so '30Ari' = "A Duck Pond and Its Brood"...RELIABILITY.

On Wednesday evening, President Obama will address a Joint Session of Congress concerning the restructuring and transformation of our Health Care system (or of health insurance, if it turns that way.) The revolution will be televised, so you pop the corn, I'll peek at the horoscope for the both of us.

Here's an article containing the text of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's letter of invitation to the president to regale them on Health Care Reform as did Pres. Bill Clinton in 1993 - same subject, outcome negatory.


So, what may we expect the charts to tell us about Wednesday night's address and the president's performance?

I will be referring to '8 pm' and '9 pm' here (I know you can keep up!) This will, of course, be a symbolic reading in part, since the President may begin speaking a few minutes after 8 pm, and may end his remarks prior to 9 pm; four minutes = one degree.

And since TV productions usually take a moment or two to begin, I'm sassily using '5Aries' rather than '4Aries' to begin with because the symbol makes a lot more sense to the event with the slightly later degree whose "Two Lovers Strolling" Keyword is "ENJOYMENT." Do you blame me considering the subject matter of the address?

Also I should mention that notated on the chart is South Node conjunct the July 21, 2009 Solar Eclipse (29Can27) with its 'systems fail; new methods are needed; any blocks may be tragically or violently removed' vibe, so we're 'in the throes' of this influence right now. Even with Washington's oft-relied-upon use of fear-mongering, it makes me wonder if things are even more critical within various systems than we've been told; South Node dependence upon past behaviors is indicated here and the Eclipse's flavor informs us of the background atmosphere.

Just after 8 pm edt, the WHAT? of the chart is the address itself = ASC '5Aries': "A Triangle with Wings"...Keyword: ZEAL.

Uh-oh.

Now there are several midpoint pictures to consider and some you'll find notated on the chart. Grand Trines and T-Squares are there as well with their own midpoint pictures, but please enlarge the chart for some of them. I can't type every bit, you know, or I'd keel over!

Mercury/Uranus = Pluto: tremendous power for work, action, leadership; getting the biggest job done in a commanding way.

Mercury/Uranus = Mc: success with all-around resourcefulness; the inventor.

Sounds very presidential whether we like his plans or not.

As you see, there is a Fist of God pattern (highlighted in orange, and with its name changed in honor of the President to "Fist Bump of God")...thing is, Mercury, planet of speeches, addresses, announcements, and negotiations, is Rx, setting, and at the apex of the "Fist Bump" from the Moon/Jupiter square. And a Moon/Jupiter square indicates to me that money and expansion (Jupiter) are obstacles in this matter for the people (Moon) - which the populace already knows and frets about, of course. The People are blocked from the happiness they seek.

But it also indicates that Republican Party (Jupiter) is an obstacle to the President's Health Care Reform initiatives and to The People (Moon; imo), and we know of the blockages the GOP has been so hot to put up because they're not in the White House boo hoo. Corporatism rules in this plutocracy, as you know, and there's Cupido (The Family; Corporations; cupidity) @ 25Lib26 in 7th house at 8 pm - and setting in opposition to the ASC/presidential address just before 9 pm.

Chart-ruler Mars, the feisty planet of quarrels and hatreds, is unhappily traversing Cancer, sign of its Fall, and in 4th house of the End of the Matter; Mars crosses the Ic while the President speaks, assuming he speaks long enough...tiresomely political applause interruptions notwithstanding.

How the President's address turns out for the Health Care cause is shown by the applying aspects of Mars, still out-of-bounds but on his way back into the earthly plane, and perhaps, more cooperative then.

Well, whoop-de-doo and what do ya know - Mars makes no applying aspects at all, so the outcome will have to depend solely on Mars' condition here which, as noted just above, is not so good. Being the planet of fevers and infections, maybe he has a cold in his dose, ya think? He definitely has been in a fighting mood of late, and on one level may refer to the President as well as to his opponents and that heckling, argumentative influence.

And we know while OOBs, Mars' arsonist side has been setting fires in California, too.

Anyway, Mars is at the base of everything in the outcome of President Obama's efforts with this address, so one thing we can look at is Mars' Sabian Symbol for more insight into his condition...what condition his condition is in...

'10Can': "A Large Diamond Not Completely Cut."

Keyword: LATENCY.

Is the 'large diamond' the 'New Atlantis' of a New World Order that America is supposedly meant to be since her founding? Then I must protest.

And 'static merit'? Apparently there isn't much, for as the President has asserted, the status quo in this matter is "not an option."

Well, we knew we were getting George Bush's messy left-overs when President Obama took office just 8 short months ago with US coffers all but cleared out. And we knew the 2009 Inaugural chart contained a crisis-ridden 29th degree Moon - in Scorpio, no less, sign of surgeries, and crisis-producing Pluto's favorite 30 degrees of the zodiac.

Yes, the void-of-course Inaugural Moon is making itself felt early in Mr. Obama's term, for the Moon was Angular in the Inaugural chart which indicates early manifestation; plus, its VOC 'things won't go as planned; outcomes will be different than expected if they work out at all' vibe is diverting what is a signature issue for this Democratic president and threatens his entire presidency.

My own opinions have remained the same about the Health Care Reform issue: the proof of our Washington politicians' good faith will be shown in the actual outcome of their actions, both pro and con - diversions and legislations alike. Bailing out Wall Street (and heeding warnings from China) were all the rage on Capitol Hill, but voting to aid the people who paid the taxes? Stall and duck.

But don't over-fret, m'peops, when you observe the machinations of Washington on this matter or on any other - with politicians they're only dramatic productions not meant to accomplish what we want or need, only to attain what's on their agenda. Isn't that how things have gone in US politics for decades now?

In fact, I'd say they create only rhetoric, photo ops, and ego-massaging that never seem to amount to much of anything on behalf of We-The-People. And they seldom repair legislations that lead to 'unintended consequences' so perhaps they're not so unintended after all. Well, Wednesday night's Mars will be attempting to make certain things remain that way or are made better for the corporations who pay their Hill shills with much larger bribes than the salaries we pay them.

Even so, will a charming President Obama be able to pull this one out of his magical top hat of tricks?

Perhaps we should look at the midpoint pictures which the Sun and Saturn in Virgo form on Wednesday evening as they snug around Mr. Obama's natal Mars (his initiative, energy, and action principle), and with US natal Neptune 22Vir25 which conjuncts the President's Mars...a pile-up of difficult energies, we could say.

As usual, midpoint pictures may operate in an any~all-or-none manner:

Sun/Saturn = BHO's n Mars: Running hot and cold; energies feel confined; a sense of futility; soul-crises caused by one's own inhibitions or by others; mourning; seclusion.

Sun/Saturn = US n Neptune: psychic or inner peculiarities; a lack of vitality; a mental, emotional, or physical crisis; delusions within relationship; sadness; loss of hope.

And yes, this definitely comes under my 'sometimes you just want to be wrong' category, and you know I don't like typing such things for you, but there it is. Especially since I, too, was elated when Barack Obama 'won' the presidency, if we can call it that.

The President should gain new determination and vitality when Mars conjuncts US natal Sun (the leader) in mid-September, so I hope it helps matters. Unless he comes down with a cold in his dose from overdoing it.

Plus, there is another small ray of hope in the chart/s because the Fist Bump of God forms a midpoint picture, too, which may or may not be a good thing - but let's say it's dandy fine and close with it, okay?

Moon/Jupiter = Mercury: making expansive, far-reaching plans; learning; traveling; a large sphere of thinking; success through speaking or writing.

Astrologer Julie Demboski takes a look at the upcoming week of Feb 2 - 9, 2009 through the lens of Astrology and finds Feb 3 to be one of the stand-out days as Venus, vengeful when she's scorned, forms a Fist of God pattern with deep, transformative Pluto of invisible helmet fame.

A Fist of God configuration occurs in the heavens when a square (90 degr) relationship is formed by at least two planets which then 'point' to a third planet or point with which the squaring planets are each in sesquiquadrant (135 degr) aspect. Some element of hubris may be attending the situation; natural laws may be broken but never escaped.

This makes for an imperative circumstance which must be dealt with and Ms. Demboski gives us a heads-up on what's going on underneath the hood of heaven for the week ahead - information we're all sure to find useful especially with the intense, perhaps obsessive energy which the Venus-Pluto pair contain.

Earth Hour at the White House?

One of my favorite radio programs Living on Earth has a feature with interviews of the presidential candidates (there are only three and you know who they are) concerning their stands on the green question, global warming, etc.

It includes mention of energy industry funding which seemingly makes their fine campaign rhetoric moot. But all presidents come with strings attached or he/she couldn't have gotten a hoof in the door!

Guess you're making plans for tonight's Earth Hour. What will you do with all the lights out for an hour? Never mind, you don't have to gossip on yourself!

New Zealand anf Figi started the lights-out, of course, and our turn here in Georgia is in 7 hours, so right now I'm looking at the chart for Atlanta, 8:00 pm edt.

The chart for Sydney, AU has few differences from the Atlanta chart as far as planets, midpoints, etc, so I'll use the 8 pm and 9 pm charts for Atlanta which is just down the road from where I type.

8 pm: ASC 11Lib47/ 9 pm = ASC 23Lib55 with lovely Arcturus rising: a different approach; leading and protecting people as they embrace a new lifestyle although the Via Combusta rises during the hour as well--aka the Burning Way (15Lib to 15Sco.)

Well, perhaps lights-out is a good way to 'use' the Via Combusta which is normally considered a nasty bit of zodiacal real estate.

And a new lifestyle with smaller carbon footprints is a humanitarian goal for which we must now strive thanks to greed and overindulgences of the past.

In Atlanta's 8 pm chart, Moon/Mc midpoint is rising...

Moon/Mc = ASC: self-evaluation. The Moon/Mc midpoint itself is: one's strongest needs are out in the open.

Sun 9Ari40 has just set, chart-ruler Mercury 23Pis23 in 6th house along with Venus 21Pis04 just beyond yesterday's conj with Uranus 19Pis50, a new yearly cycle of activity for Venus/Uranus: artists, extravagant people (!), rhythm, music, love, unusual relationships, peculiar notions...and erratic habits with finances.

Moon 10Cap42 has just crossed the Ic into 3rd house of communications/neighborhoods and is snugged between Pluto 1Cap09 and Jupiter 19Cap54...

Jupiter/Pluto = Moon: desire to bring about social improvements; ability to influence the masses through an emotional appeal; emotional conviction guides a new start.

Feisty Mars 9Can50 is at Midheaven (the goal) with Fixed Star Alhena, whose keysords are: to have a mission.

Mars and Mc are part of a Fist of God pattern which is similar to a YOD (Finger of God) but with more 'punch' so we have these pictures with the base of the pattern a square to ASC and pointing to idealistic Neptune 23AQ23...

Mars/ASC = Neptune: magnetism; out of the mainstream; withdrawal as an option; lack of energy.

Mars/ASC = NN: excellent teamwork.

Well, last I heard, 26 major world cities and 300+ towns and have signed up to participate.

ASC/MC = Neptune: idealization; spirituality; quiet.

Yep, things should be quieter than usual for an hour at least! And Earth Hour is a great example of idealization manifesting into action.

ASC/MC = NN: an obliging person (you?); seeking contacts with others; new faces in the environment.

Don't let the wooly-boogers get ya!

Mars/ASC = Saturn (2Vir40 Rx): inhibitions; inbilitiy to express one's ower potential in the right way (it's only for an hour!); sharing worries and anxieties with others.

Then there's the T-square which forms this picture with the Sun conj asteroid Pallas (wisdom; strategy; protector of cities)...

Moon/Mars = Sun: the power to establish oneself in the world (!); conscious of an objective; striving for independence; prosperity through harmonious cooperation.

And when the Hour ends at 9 pm, Atlanta time, this midpoint will be rising...

Jupiter/Mc = ASC: harmony; a festivity.

Sun and Jupiter fuse together at World Point 00Cap00, in 3rd house of Communications, Pluto nearby--and just after the Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Pluto on Dec 11.

Chart-ruler Venus 19Sco46 is in 2nd house of Money, Earning Ability, and Values but at what some call the "accursed degree of the accursed sign"...19Sco, a degree which is the neighborhood of two Fixed Stars of mixed-at-best influence:

Serpentis 19Sco: tragedy and misfortune (if your home is foreclosed on, this one's for you.)

North Scale 19Sco22: honor; wealth; distinction; intelligence; good organizer; tragedy; violence; hasty words cause problems; success in sports, religion, war, law, or writing.

Venus also rules the 8th house of Shared Resources, Credit, Insurance, Debt, etc., and is involved by her square with nebulous, undermining Neptune in a FIST of GOD, similar to a strong T-square but with more punch.

And did you know there's lightening on Venus?

Mars 3Can38 Rx is the focal point of this FIST, in 9th house of legalities, foreign travel (and enemies), higher education, philosophy, religion, and such.

This Rx out-of-bounds Mars is conjunct US natal Venus 3Can06--a Venus which is out-of-bounds in the US natal chart as well (July 4, 1776, 'Sibly' chart 5:10 pm lmt, Philadlephia, PA.) Mars to Venus can bring new alliances, joint ventures, and invigorated interactions.

A midpoint picture is formed:

Venus/Neptune = Mars: easy self-delusion; misdirected energy. (Those we've seen lots of in recent years.)

2007 and USA natal chart:

Rising in the Winter Solstice 2007 chart is US natal Saturn and US 10th house which also brings up the US n Sun/Saturn square. Timing can be off with this configuration, and planning must be realistic to succeed. America has had a spotty record on that score, hasn't she?

In fact, the Bush-Cheney regime's lack of realism may be said to be a major part of our current troubles. I would go back to 1999 and the fake presidential campaign of George W. Bush but that's just me.

North Node (the path) is at a critical 29th degree in the 5th house of Speculation and Risk-Taking, a degree associated with destroying ancient lands and monuments (Lynda Hill) and with projecting negative things upon foreigners instead of owning up to your own shadow.

Every Winter Solstice takes the Sun just beyond "30Sag": " The pope blessing the faithful" (the ASC degree in the Jefferson chart for the America, 6:30 pm--MC = "23Lib", conj Spica and Arcurtus) but we'll look again at the Sabian Symbol for "1Cap" using Lynda Hills' 360 Degrees of Wisdom:

"An Indian chief claims power from the assembled tribe"...assuming authority and the need for it; accepting the consequences for what that "Claim" could lead to; charismatic leadership; consolidating power.

Caution: power tripping and struggles; overinflated views of one's self (in Washington? !); the continued need to quieten power battles; being challenged by those left and right; demanding attention and that others follow orders; taking over; selfishness and ego-drive; too many chiefs.
