According to his Wikipedia bio page, Eric Ivan Cantor was born on June 6, 1963 in Richmond, Virginia. Mr. Cantor has inhabited the role of House Majority Leader since January 3, 2011, and is of a Republican persuasion. His father, a real estate firm owner, acted as state treasurer for the 1980 presidential campaign of Ronald Reagan so our Mr. Cantor is quite the dyed-in-the-wool Kool-Aid imbiber of Starve The Beast Ideology with a transnational corporation persuasion perking underneath all the charm.

Taking a squinty astro-peek at the cosmic implications of Mr. Cantor's day of birth (hour unknown, using Noon), we see a man with Sun in Gemini, Moon in Sagittarius with Luna remaining in Sag for the 24-hour period (Moon sails from 3 Sag to 14 Sag.)

With its Moon/Pluto conjunction @ 5Cap (and conjoining tr Siva, the destroyer-creator), the July 13, 2011 'debt talks' transits resonate with the June 26, 2010 Lunar Eclipse @ 4Cap46 which conjoined tr Pluto 4Cap06 Rx (the revealing eclipse with the Cardinal Grand Cross stand-off energies) and I think a Moon/Pluto theme describes the current debt talks-negotiations-meetings (and emotional tantrums!) at the White House of late between the GOP's John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and President Obama.

Now I don't often spend much time blogging about a horoscope when an exact time for it isn't known (so we can know which houses the planets are posited in, and ASC and MC degrees), so I won't. But I will focus on natal chart factors relating to finances and/or to the current power play against a Democratic White House and president. Missions are butting heads here!

Note a dynamic T-Square pattern between Cantor's Pluto/Chiron (plutocracy - Mr. Obama was born with Pluto opposing Chiron, too) opposition pointing toward natal Sun in Gemini, his essence, personality, and the North Star leading him along his hero's journey. Geminian realms are part of his path: Communications, News, Trade, Commerce, ruled by speedy Mercury who serves as Messenger to the gods. Mmm-hmm. (Nor-quist, the North Star guiding his path, his mission in life?)

This apex Sun in a T-SQ indicates one with very strong willpower (enough to abruptly interrupt a president), a bold desire for accomplishment and recognition, a self-seeking tendency, over-confidence, arrogance, and an overbearing manner. This apex Sun attracts conflict and power struggles with others!

More specifically, apex Sun in a Mutable T-SQ hones the ambition to a deep and concentrated focus on being recognized for intellectual prowess. The changeable Mutable undercurrent gives him a highly nervous restlessness requiring periodic rest so that a tantrum taking his nibs suddenly out of a room when the heat is turned up and he over-fusses himself tallies quite well with apex Sun in a Mutable T-SQ pattern.

Well-managed, this solar energy is all set to make Mr. Cantor into 'something special' yet that doesn't guarantee it will benefit more than those in the ruling class--although it may retain for him the social status he so desires. Much fame is indicated for this natural authoritarian and plutocratic oligarchs are on hand to motivate him at every turn.

And this week, Mars conjoined Mr. Cantor's natal Sun in mid-Gemini, a time when aggressive energy rises, conflicts and confrontations may occur (even physical ones), and ego gratification is the driving force behind goals. He feels his principles, integrity, and pride are on the line so no wonder he's acting so frisky in the White House!

A Word About Eric Cantor's Jupiter in Aries

Rep. Cantor's Jupiter 13Ari29 describes a competitive risk-taker with an abundance of inner self-esteem, a self-assertive style, a big ego (typical for a politician), and big dreams for the future. If crashing the global economy is the goal, a one-world-government fanatic may be indicated for Jupiter in Aries is the 'holy crusader' and zealot...so maybe Eric Cantor's mask just slipped a wee notch.

This reminds me of candidate Michele Bachmann signing a theocracy pledge which ignores America's traditional yet fading 'separation of church and state' tenet. We will be oh-so sorry when it's gone.

Jupiter inconjunct Neptune tends to create for itself impossible problems which then entail painful solutions; a misunderstanding of responsibilities can be evident, and psychosomatic conditions may flare under pressure which is more internally applied than externally.

Sun inconjunct Neptune causes over-reactions to anything perceived as criticism, a workaholic temperament, and a tendency to underestimate or overestimate one's capabilities - or to alternate between the two. Moderation In All Things is the best advice for this aspect, along with using caution when taking on other people's responsibilities (such as John Boehner's!)

These two inconjuncts (aka, quincunxes, 165 degrees = obsession-compulsion) make up the YOD pattern you see in the horoscope marked in red and with dotted line.

But of course! You of the eagle eye spy Mr. Cantor's natal YOD pattern (crisis; crossroads; turning point; special task; Finger of God) with a Sun/Jupiter sextile at its base, and pointing toward apex Neptune 13Sco29 Rx (Scorpio, the sign of Big Business, Surveillance, The Occult, and Science, with support from his scientific Saturn in Aquarius; the Neptune in Scorpio generation is charismatic.)

First, let's consider the 60-degree Sun/Jupiter sextile of opportunity at the YOD's base.

Alan Oken calls this the 'Cosmic Blessing' aspect and says it brings good fortune, material comfort, and pleasant journeys where significant experiences occur. Plus, Alan Epstein says a Sun/Jupiter sextile presents a challenge to gain recognition without becoming corrupted in the process. Well, I suspect Mr. Cantor works in the wrong town and business if he values non-corruptibility though we may be seeing this expressed in his fanatic clinging to the Reagan-Norquist Starve The Beast manifesto, no matter whose granny or child gets hurt. This aspect also shows political astuteness, an impressive facade, and a talent for playing competitors against one another!

Now apex Neptune in a YOD configuration denotes one who prefers to remain within an emotional ivory tower and ignore needed social adjustments--from there he can criticize and direct from a safe distance. Mr. Cantor is devoted to an ideal for which a sacrifice is required and around which may swirl illusion, deception, and mysticism. Now Mr. Cantor could use his warrioring Mars/Uranus energy to fight for the less fortunate in our society but somehow this imperative has been perverted toward a cold-hearted corporate ideology where tragedy for others results.

Yes, he is good at initiating challenges to powerful government officials, and to dramatize his point he may even threaten his opponents using any public support he has (or thinks he has.) Perhaps this tendency was involved in President Obama's pushback against Cantor--even if it takes down his presidency, BHO says. (Good!)

Well, since a Mars/Uranus conjunction describes a taker, not a giver, I shall wish Mr. Obama and the American people positive outcomes as the president deals with 'holy crusader' Eric Cantor.

In spite of it all, perhaps something will be agreed upon between the parties by the light of Friday's Full Moon in Capricorn a mere few hours hence: July 15, 2011 @ 2:39 am edt in Washington DC! Its Sabian Symbol seems appropriate as 'debt talks' and the August 2nd debt ceiling deadline continues making the news in our nation's capital...

Often a Solar Eclipse can bring things to light which were hidden especially if it connects with a person's particular natal and progressed horoscopes. With this Wednesday's June 1, 2011 Solar Eclipse @ 11Gem02, Mr. Edwards (born with an Airy Sun Gem-Moon Gem personality blend!) has had his private business put out for all to review, critique, and bring charges.

And since Solar Eclipses are freshly seeded New Moons, the legal case against the former Democratic presidential candidate is at its beginning.

Here's a SO'W post from late 2007 concerning my surmises about the 2008 campaign and the out-of-bounds Mercury of John Edwards with his natal horoscope shown. (The post is not updated or edited and hindsight is 20/20. We know who won the presidency and who now acts as VP. Of course I did not know then.)

Considering today's announcement of the Edwards indictment for misuse of campaign funds, perhaps I should have written on his crisis-ridden YOD ('Finger of God') and a difficult Fist of God pattern which you may view by clicking to enlarge his natal chart.

Impeach Justice Roberts over Citizens United?

Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR) is talking big about the potential of impeaching Chief Justice John Roberts whose only-an-umpire status touted (aka, lied about) at his confirmation hearing has been seriously undercut by 2010's democracy-numbing Citizens United decision which has allowed the flooding of the November 2010 midterms with obscene amounts of money from unnamed, foreign sources and corporations (who fancy themselves to be 'people too'. The American people have SCOTUS to thank for that outrageous, illogical decision as well.)

In an unusual move, it was Justice Robert's idea to consider the case!

So if a Roberts impeachment is attempted (or accomplished, but I'm not holding my breath), it may deepen the level of astrological meaning of January 20, 2009's Inaugural Mercury retrograde! The 2009 Inauguration chart had its Mercury Return on February 10, 2010 so the Citizens United decision handed down in January was in play during the period that transiting Mercury was in process of returning to its Inaugural degree 00AQ41 (Sun 00AQ47)...'1AQ" = "An Old Adobe Mission", a Vatican reference in the Sabian Symbols which links to esoteric subjects such as America as the New Atlantis for the 'New Age'.

The Obama presidency's Mercury Return chart of 2.10.10 shows Mars Rx 5Leo14 opposing Mercury, an opposition which falls precisely across the Nodal axis in the US natal horoscope. Activist Mars can be brash and spunky in Leo and he was apparently feeling his oats with a judicial activist (and pretend 'umpire') like Roberts leading the fight against the American people's right to choose who wins our elections (always assuming there's such a thing as an accurate voting machine somewhere in this nation.)

And on 2.10.10, Mars was apex (focal) planet in a YOD (special task; crisis; turning point; crossroads - I'm thinking of Karl Rove) pattern with the powerful, overstepping, internationally inclined big bankers-plutocrats-leading-the-masses duo of Jupiter sextile Pluto at its base...

Jupiter/Pluto = Mars: a desire to achieve great things; organizing talent; applying controls to suit one's aims; a controlling and ruthless purpose in life. (Ebertin; Munkasey; Tyl.) Et tu, Justice Roberts?

Interestingly, John Roberts (Jan 27, 1955, Buffalo, NY; birth time unknown) entered Earth's time flux with Chiron @ 00AQ00 and his Mercury/NN midpoint 00AQ17. Chiron can represent the blind spot, and Mercury/NN = 'well-coordinated joint efforts; the arrangement of social or business contacts'. (Ebertin; Munkasey.)

Of course, you'll remember that it was Justice John Roberts who mucked up the Presidential Oath of Office (Mercury) which was re-taken (Rx) later just to be certain no one could say that Barack Obama was not duly sworn in.

Now wouldn't a John Roberts impeachment be ironic? And yet it could indicate yet another signpost on the road to completely undermining the US Justice System.

This classic A&E program hosted and narrated by Leonard Nimoy has esteemed world class astrologer Rob Hand included, and is a 10 min 3 sec video of Part 1 of 5.

Part 1 touches on the 5,000 year cycle of the Mayans which ends Dec 21, 2012 - the Winter Solstice that only a few people await with confidence.

Sometimes I wonder if our modern 'new world order' types, who prefer rewards of an earthly kind, are using that already fear-infused date to bump up propaganda for their own agenda thereby causing whatever they have in store economically and governmentally to be more readily accepted than it otherwise would - by 2012.

Are massive world wide 'false flag ops' possibilities, too, in case the Mayans are wrong?

Baucus vs Rockefeller - Sun Lib/Moon AQ 9.29.09

Now locked in a matinee performance (allegedly!): Max Baucus and Jay Rockefeller, with blogging gnat me (and you?) waiting to see if Congress will do anything at all for our ailing health insurance system and the public option in process of being undermined by the big fat insurance industry and its Washington payrollees.

Well, Max Baucus made his statement just a while ago (see article above) so I took a quick peek at a horoscope for 2:55 pm EDT (Washington, DC) for a few planetary positions, and to find the Sabian Symbols for them - see if you think any of the symbols apply to our Health Insurance Reform situation for today:

Sun "7Lib": "A Woman Feeding Chickens and Protecting Them from the Hawks";

Moon "16AQ": "A Big Businessman at His Desk";

Mercury "22Vir" (Station Direct TODAY with NASA's Messenger spacecraft snapping photos of planet Mercury today for the third and final time; Messenger will go into orbit around the speedy planet in March 2011): "A Royal Coat of Arms";

Mars "22Can": "A Woman Awaiting a Sailboat" (maybe that describes me awaiting Congress to actually do something good for cash-strapped Americans. Interesting that Baucus cites 'pragmatism' as his reason for not supporting a public option, the only provision that may make the system of practical use to all Americans.)

The Mercury/Mars sextile is the base of a YOD pattern of 'adjustment, crisis, and/or special tasks' and is pointing at health-concerned Chiron @ '22AQ': "A Rug Placed on the Floor for Children to Play" (the House floor? Is this to be a basic overhaul that doesn't go too far that it riles the insurance industry? Obviously, we-the-people are considered to be the 'children'.)

One more astrological factor to mention in the collective is the soon-perfecting square (90 degrees) between Saturn and Pluto.

Expert astrologer Alan Oken describes the square aspect between authoritarian, controlling Saturn and coping, powerful, transforming Pluto (associated with surgeries and recuperative powers after illness) as:

'Consolidation vs Regeneration' and he adds: harshness, cruelty, destruction to the established order, dissatisfaction and a deep desire to annihilate existing forms.'

Well, yes, it sounds harsh all right, but it seems to this particular populist that the 'destruction' turns out to be on the part of the middle and lower classes with the wealthy super-rich in the catbird seat of plutocratic oligarchy. Forces fight above our heads, while we-the-people (and the rest of the world) suffer the 'trickle down' on our own, and now that the banking and political classes have dive-bombed the US financial system, we have fewer than ever resources with which to bounce back.

Planet of the Democrats, Saturn, is today @ 26Vir29, with Pluto 00Cap45; both heavyweights are in Direct motion, so the full effects of their square-off will be stronger as Saturn reaches 00Libra and beyond, and thus forms his partile (exact) square with power-behind-the-throne Pluto. Falling upon 00 Cardinal degrees - World Points - indicates events that affect the masses.

My feeling is that Mercury's "A Royal Coat of Arms" (of today's announcement by Baucus) is more intimately involved in the current health care stand-off than meets the common man's eye. Is the US government making decisions on its own? Hmm.

Or does the symbol merely refer to the ruling class' sense of 'nobility' and entitlement? Mercury turns direct today and pronouncements are made in Washington! We'll see if Max Baucus' sentiments 'turn' out to be the icingless cake of reform when it all shakes down.

Edgar Allan Poe natal chart Jan 19, 1809

On the occasion of upcoming Halloween celebrations, and with Oct 7, 2009 being the 160th anniversary of Poe's sad, mysterious death, here's a newspaper account of the Poe Toaster's ritual from Jan 21, 1999 which has witnesses saying the mysterious visitor arrived at the brick-walled cemetery "just before 3 am."

For astrologers, it's tiresome how times given are always "just before" or "shortly after" in most news reports, for you'd think no one ever had an accurate sun dial in their gardens or watch in their pockets, to hear some reporters (almost) tell it. Guess the journalism I studied back in the olden days with its Who-What-When-Where-How? model counts for little anymore. Or, nevermore, considering our subject here.

Anyway, the annual visit of respect from the 'Poe Toaster' occurs on the author's birthday, Jan 19, each year which gives a Sun position in the 28 to 29 degree range of Capricorn. Poe's natal Mercury @ 28Cap+ 'under the beams' of the Sun made objective thinking a bit difficult and doubly Saturnian bwo Cap. Why, the Sun burned his hairline right back from his addled and anxious pate! Yet the Sun/Mercury conjunction indicates a brilliant intellect for Mr. Poe. Emotionally, his was a different tale through suffering, despair, and loss.

Physically the poet and short-story author - the Father of the Modern Detective Novel - was known for his prominent brow or forehead, so check with Wikipedia for photos of The Raven's macabre inventor-writer Mr. E. A. Poe.



Yes, it's tempting to spend all night as I'm doing now perusing the website of the E. A. Poe Society of Baltimore where conflicting accounts of his life and death are well detailed with a chronology, portraits of his gentlemanly self with its broad "Moon-like" brow, as well as pictures of other family members, friends, and colleagues. There are 13 known portraits of the poet as far as is known, and several daguerreotypes do seem to have been spirited away from libraries through the years into mysterious realms of collectors' (undeserving) vaults.

Combing the E. A. Poe Society's site finally gave up what I wanted - Poe's time of death, but as with All Things Poe, a mystery remains due to two conflicting sources: one says '3:00 am' and the other one, '5:00 am' (Oct 7, 1849, aged 40.) Yet dying in a hospital, even in 1849, you'd think there would be an official time. As an astrologer, naturally this doubles the effort and time as two charts for Poe's passing must be set up and studied.

(If the 3:00 am Poe Toaster mentioned above was 'on time' he could have been marking Poe's time of death - or arriving near a 2:00 or 3:38 am birth time - argghh!)

The '5:00 am' death chart (displayed below) has the most angular contacts - and a 'biggie' conjunction exactly on the 8th cusp - so it is the chart I prefer.

And here is a non-Wiki biographical account of his life which mentions his chronic alcoholism as do all sources, an addiction not unusual in the 1800s. He and his two siblings were left orphaned when both their parents died in 1811; Edgar was only two years old. His brother William died young, and his sister Rosalie went mad - being destitute can do that for you.

Poe himself was adopted by a tobacco merchant and his wife and was over-indulged as he grew up which led him to expect a large inheritance which didn't pan out due to a falling out with his foster father...Poe dropped out of West Point against the older man's wishes, for one thing. His adoptive family is where the middle name of 'Allan' comes from though for much of his life he was known, and signed his name as, Edgar Poe.

In my old astro-databank files, I had a version of his birth chart for 1:00 am with a Rodden Rating of C; other verified times are given as possibilities and vary from 1:30 am, 2:00 am, 3:38 am, and 7:57 am. That's hours of work to check them all out for best results, but some strong factors stand out that have to do with loss, depression, and alcoholism (demon alcohol only makes depression worse, for as they say, "troubles can swim.")

If family records do state that he was born "3 hours after mother left the theater" as one source cites, then I have doubts about the 7:57 am chart; thus, the other birth times seem more feasible. Plus, the Poe Toaster's middle-of-the-night visits would synchronize more closely with any of the earlier times.

Note: if a reference is made to 'drugs,' I am always including alcohol.

Edgar Allan Poe, born on Jan 19, 1809, in Boston, Massachusetts...the '1:00 pm LMT' natal chart produces a Secondary Progressed chart for his date of death (using '5:00 am' for death) showing Saturn/Neptune = ASC 4Sag06: oppressive family circumstances; an emotionally depressing environment; emotional suffering caused by others; limitation of freedom (such as couping?); feeling confined (in hospital?); sense of being out of the group (Ebertin; Tyl.)

But which natal ASC to use?

Using his '3:38 am LMT' birth chart gives you Saturn/Neptune = ASC 4Sag17 in the natal chart which could relate to his sad orphaned situation, loss of both parents, illnesses, etc. 'Loss (Saturn) through drugs (Neptune)' springs to mind, too.

The '3:38 am' natal chart when progressed to day/time of death gives 7Cap23 rising conj Fixed Star, Facies (ruthlessness, or the victim); this Sec chart has a very interesting and possibly pertinent Sec midpoint at Mc, too...

Mars/Uranus = Mc: putting a pistol to someone's head; taking violent or drastic measures; injury, accident, or surgery. (I think again of couping. And the Part of Death in this version of Poe's Sec chart is 00Cap33, a point conjunct the IC (Endings; The Drain) in his death chart for 5:00 am.)

Click the chart to enlarge and you'll also see in 4th house the transiting Sun/Saturn midpoint which is conjunct his Sec ASC (using '3:38 am' as his natal chart) so we have...

Sun/Saturn = ASC: possible health threat; separation.

Yet there's a lot to be said for the '1:00 pm' chart which has 3Sco34 rising, and a Scorpio ASC indicates grievous loss at some point in the early life (plus, he was only 40 at death); but a Sag ASC is ruled by Jupiter indicating publishing, idealism, and over-indulgence...take your pick!

One point in favor of Sco rising, however, is his oft-remarked-upon eyes...a Scorpio ASC trait, especially if they're penetrating; Poe's were said to be remarkable, arresting, intelligent, and beautiful, so again it's somewhat inconclusive. His nose looks a bit on the beaky side, too, another point scored for Sco rising. Guess I may ultimately go with the 1:00 am chart (or 1:30 am) for its Sco ASC, yet it's obvious that conjectures on Poe's birth time are abundant.

In his natal chart, Poe has a conjunction of Uranus/North Node which can indicate political reformist groups, or transformative politics in general. In his Sec chart for date of death, Uranus had already turned Rx by progession and was conj natal NN 9Sco28/33 in 11th house of Groups, Associations, and Friends...'sudden and/or disruptive (Uranus) meetings or encounters (NN.)'

At death, transiting Mercury 8Sco20 was in the midst of the Uran/NN conj, so we have this midpoint picture:

Uran/NN = Mercury: impetuousness; excited thoughts shared; being united in thoughts with others; criticism of others; fast-traveling news; speedy comprehensions.

At the 'champagne supper' his old West Point friends invited him to (before he disappeared from public view) did literary critic Poe critique a certain Whig candidate who used 'couping' to kidnap and beat up people until they aggreed to vote for him? Was Poe 'coup'd' from the street after he left their boozy company?

As you see, the '5 am' chart gives the usual suspects - at the time of death - on chart angles: Mars 29Gem41 at Mc, Saturn Rx 3Ari48 on Descendant, the setting position of the chart. Moon is just beyond angularity as previously mentioend, and World Points are on each angle relating to Poe's enduring fame and prominence.

8th cusp of Transformation and Death have the Uranus/Pluto pair snugged around it; the brittle, separative Saturn/Uranus and cruel Saturn/Pluto midpoints in Aries both oppose SunLib01 in 1st house of Physical Body...

Sat/Uran = Sun: separation; exposure to severe tests of strength.

Sat/Pluto = Sun: ill health; loss.

As you know Mars' sign of Gemini is related to lungs (air) and nerves or nervous diseases; Libra (ASC and Sun) relates to lungs and kidneys.

Moon 22Gem43 has just crossed MC, too and thus may be considered angular as well; Moon is apex of the Jupiter/Saturn combo which relates to liver and gall functions, chronic illnesses, and to lung diseases such as TB; generally, infections may be indicated (Ebertin.)

Yes, Poe's years of emotional shocks, undermining of his health through drugs, chronic or other illnesses, etc, only made it more difficult for him to fight whatever ailed him, whether being kidnapped and beaten or not, during his last physical crisis.



As you know, a YOD pattern ('Finger of God' - sextile aspect at base, both planets inconjunct a third; in this case, there are two YODs superimposed...Moon/Uranus and Mars/Pluto both point to Chiron 25Sco18) - is often present in death charts. Poe's Pre-Natal Eclipse from the 9 North Series is being triggered by wounded Chiron in Scorpio and by the health-related YODs.

9N = accidents, violence, or sudden physical events. This is also the PE of Abraham Lincoln (Feb 12, 1809), Tony Blair, John Edwards, and Bobby Jindall; plus, 9N is the PE of President Garfield's Inauguration March 4, 1881 and you know of his violent end.

Poe's death occurred during a 14 North Solar Eclipse Series with the Eclipse manifesting @ 25Leo07 and Poe's Sec Moon triggering it at death.

Plu/NN = Mc: associations influence one's objectives and cause setbacks in one's vocation.

(Drunken champagne suppers and brutal couping tactics must once again come to mind.)

Also you see there's a T-Square pattern formed by angular Saturn Rx...

Saturn/ASC = Mars: feeling like the victim; being placed in turbulent circumstances; self-willedness; separation; mourning or bereavement.

Saturn/ASC = Mc: oppression; depression; inhibited by others; hindered in the fulfilment of one's objectives; struggling with controls.

Today at 5:45 pm edt, President Obama called the crew of the Space Shuttle Atlantis and I can hook you up with the audio of the call here if you like.

At 5:45 pm edt in Washington, DC, Hour of Saturn (14Vir55; in 11th house), 00Sco26 was Rising.

Rounding up to '1 Scorpio' the ASC conjuncts the natal Sun's degree of the New World Order (Oct 24, 1993; determined by the Uranus/Neptune Conjunction #3); Sun 00Gem00 is in 8th house, and Moon 12Ari17 is in 6th house with attracting Venus 15Ari16, asteroid Atlantis 19Ari40, and desirous Mars 21Ari44.

Atlantis '19 Aries' is, of course, conjunct the Sun's exaltation degree.

A YOD (Finger of God pattern), indicator of a special task or a crisis, is formed with ASC sextile Pluto 2Cap47 Rx (Pluto in 3rd house of Communications); the sextile points toward the Sun ('the leader' in a national chart); thus a midpoint picture may be read as:

Pres. Obama's natal Neptune is in 1st house and is being 'stomped upon' by the transiting midpoint of Saturn/Pluto 8Sco51, so we have:

Tr Saturn/Pluto = n Neptune: the desire to harm others secretly; lies, fraud, falsehoods; not being seen for who one is; being doubted; unstable life situation because of the inexplicable, because of fear.

(Yet the Saturn/Pluto combination of energies can be: the adept; the magician - neither of which are out of Neptune's realm of mysticism. It's all about motive and how we choose to use our chart factors, isn't it?)

Pres. Obama's Progressions for this date and hour show an ongoing Secondary Progressed midpoint picture which may be of concern for his presidency and for the nation...

Saturn/NN = Neptune: deception, fraud, lies; confusing others about one's personal stand; confusion in one's environment.

I mention this now because these pics fall in the 1st house of this 'BHO calls Atlantis crew' chart and relates to his presidency (Saturn/NN = the sponsorship of more experienced persons) and to Neptunian veils, deceptions, and illusions which are so very undermining to us all. Being a US president is a risky tightrope to walk especially with so many people attempting to undermine (Neptune) you at every turn.

The 5:45 pm edt Midheaven 5Leo31 (MC = the goal) has America's natal NN (North Node) upon it along with Obama's natal Cupido 6Leo36 as well (corporatism; The Family), and the Jupiter-Chiron-Neptune trio, now all at '27AQ' conjunct US natal Moon, is in 4th house, the Basis of the Matter.

NN 2AQ22 has crossed the IC into 3rd house (Communications) which puts South Node 2Leo22 and Obama's natal Mercury 2Leo20 (communications) at MC but in 9th house of Long Distance Travel.

The 'Images for Integration' Air-Fire blend of Sun Gemini/Moon Aries are:

For this and other reasons shown in this chart, I tend to suspect that the stated purposes for the Space Shuttle Atlantis' *current mission may not be all that meets our eyes, but surveillance of the planet may meet the power elite's peepers - along with America's ongoing 'eternal' desire to best other nations in the race to dominate from space.

Full Moon 21Can02 Jan 10, 2009

At 10:26:42 pm est on Jan 10, 2009, a Full Moon *21Can02 shines over the Capitol Building in Washington, DC - and elsewhere as well.

Highlighted in blue is a pattern poetically called a Mystic Rectangle between the ongoing Saturn-Uranus opposition and the Full Moon which is, of course, a Sun-Moon opposition.

The Full Moon chart of Nov 13, 2008 had this pattern as well.

"Practical mysticism" is the most descriptive term for a Mystic Rectangle and since I've covered the pattern here and at Jude's Threshold previously, I'll not wax poetic about it except to say that it facilitates solutions through the aid of the sextiles and trines that are formed.

And with the world in deep poo poo for want of a few good ones, let's hope senators get seated and Team Obama can successfully implement the good ideas they're promising the American people.

Let's also hope that Republican politics don't muddy or block the solutions out of exalted ego games. That would be cheeky monkey of them - and unacceptable - to follow their old pattern of putting politics before the nation's best interests particularly at this important time.

That said, here are a few of my notes on this lovely Full Moon on a Saturday night.

Falling in 10th house of the DC chart, with Sun in 4th house of housing, mines, and domestic concerns, we may expect this culmination stage of the Sun-Moon dance to result in a visible improvement on issues around at the last early Capricorn New Moon 2 two prior. This morphs issues from 2008 into 2009.

Also highlighted in pink is a YOD formation, the Finger of God pattern indicating a special task, a crisis, adjustment, fork in the road, and/or turning point.

Now Moon-Saturn contacts can indicate depression and most of the globe is feeling that. But this is a sextile, an aspect of opportunity, and considering that a new presidency is about to begin, I prefer to emphasize the 'ambition; strategy; direction' flavor of this Moon-Saturn contact.

The YOD's apex or focal planet is nebulous Neptune 22AQ45, in 5th house of Risk-Taking, Gambling, Creativity, and Offspring. This is a 'true' YOD because the apex planet is the slowest moving body of the three.

Apex Neptune in a YOD configuration is out of touch with the environment and longs to be elsewhere where things are more peaceful and calm. He prefers to ignore needed social adjustments by hunkering down in his ivory tower, safe from the real world.

Ivory tower existences don't promote clear understanding of practical situations, however, so his interpretations are subject to error and distortions. This is a fearful Neptune who would prefer not to be bothered!

His emotions need constant adjustments so that escapism doesn't take precedence over more positive corrective measures. The quincunxes (150 degr) to Neptune represent facets of character that are out-of-focus with the realities of current circumstances.

Very imaginative, yes, but it is seldom applied in a constructive way. Yet with the Mystic Rectangle superimposed over the YOD, we may hope for the best from this turning point.

Properly directed, the energy in an apex Neptune (YOD pattern) can begin a new path with much inspiration and selflessness while drawing on deep spiritual resources. (Neptune = the divine source.)

The new path sometimes means working behind-the-scenes, underground, and/or in seclusion, and a sacrifice of a temporal desire may be necessary toward an intangible ideal. Uncertainty, insecurity, illusions, and deceptions may walk the path with him as he plays the role of compassionate healer or defender of the disenfranchised.

This apex Neptune may also be the inspired artist and on another level, the illumined one (and of course, I tend to think grumpily of the Illuminati here) able to delve into life's deeper mysteries.

If the energy is misdirected (and Capitol Hill is good at that), this apex planet denotes the social martyr or victim of society whose malcontent draws destabilizing experiences and circumstances which further undermine his situation.

The antidote is to deal with the painful emotional components shown by the quincunxes (inconjuncts) to Neptune:

Moon inconj Neptune tends toward over extension and self-persecution and works best in social welfare programs. There's difficulty in seeing others are they really are and a vulnerability to those who misrepresent themselves.

Saturn inconj Neptune indicates a need to somehow justify one's resources and talents; ways are sought to use the resources to relieve suffering and social injustices yet these talented people are part of the very social structure that permits these injustices to exist. (This, to me, perfectly describes Washington politicians in all their nest-feathering, embezzling glory.)

Care should be taken not to align oneself with programs that have unclear goals, but methinks the horse already left the barn on that one.

Still, this is a martyr aspect, and stepping outside my usual Washington orientation for a minute - and considering that Neptune is at the "A Big Bear Sitting Down and Waving Its Paws" degree in the Sabian Symbols - I think of Putin, Russia, and the Ukraine/European gas stand-off. Perhaps Putin will find his inner 'savior to the rescue' and end the cruelty soon. This would tie in with the New Moon-Full Moon timetable.

Besides, letting your customers freeze to death isn't good for business, wily political ploy though it may be.


The YOD forms a difficult midpoint picture:

Moon-Saturn = Neptune: anxiety; depression; feeling inferior; sickness of the soul.

Since Astrology works on many levels at once, I'd say Neptune in this picture is a stand-in for the masses...we're more depressed (and some of us are freezing) than the social tinkerers who've caused so many of the messes we're in. They have their bunkers and offshore accounts so they're dandy fine compared to the rest of us!

If you click to enlarge the chart, you'll see that I've notated the Mercury Rx Station 7AQ44 so Mercury is unusually strong at this time. Interestingly, Mercury is stationing directly upon George Bush's natal Descendant, the angle of Partnership and Legal Affairs.

Mercury to 7th house is a time of legal affairs, debates, contracts, negotiations, and agreements, so someone may back out on a previous arrangement with Dubya - perhaps fairly since he's done it many times before.

The prefix we associate with Rx phases is re- so re-doing, reviewing, re-signing...all sorts of do-overs are in effect for the next few weeks. This may relate as well to the MN and IL senator situations for Al Franken and Roland Burris.

Bush's chart involvement indicates his finger still in every pie, although he may wish it weren't if legal issues against his administration eventually come to a head. International prosecution for torture comes to mind, with more facts to come out as Mercury Rxs back to US natal South Node (past errors surface.)

Mercury, god of retrogression, is chart-ruler and ruler of the professional 10th house where we find Public Status or Standing, and I'm hearing that Burris may be seated after all.

(What a charade! Burris knew his papers were not in order before he got to Capitol Hill. If everyone else has had the proper signatures, why shouldn't he? But the Illinois Supreme Court is in the melee now, so we'll see how quickly they rule on Burris' seating. It will turn out better if they rule before Mercury goes Rx!)

Anyway, Mercury as chart-ruler applies to North Node (1A34), then Jupiter (6A27), as he heads back toward the Sun. Sun and Mercury conjunct on Jan 18 at Inaugural Jupiter's degree (3AQ+) so there may be delay (Rx) with solutions (Obama's stimulus package won't be on his desk Jan 20, they say) but things will begin to move forward when Mercury goes Direct and moves beyond his 'shadow degree' - in this case, 7AQ44 (or 7:42, if memory serves.)

With the Full Moon's strong 4th house - sabotaging Pluto 1Cap37, instigating warrior Mars 11Cap11, and Sun 21Cap02 therein - we may expect more mining and/or sludge concerns, plus much publicity on all issues due to the polarity of Moon in 10th house, and the 4th is the natural house of the Moon. 'Homeland Security' may surface in the news, too.

And yes, there is a midpoint picture formed:

Sun-Pluto - Mars: enormous drive; strenuous self-application; carving new perspectives.


With restrictive Saturn so near the Ascendant in the Full Moon chart, we feel the lack of resources which Neptune is apparently hoarding. That secret government types are involved, I have no doubt.

Venus 8Pis07 is conjunct US natal Pluto-Chiron midpoint which is conj US natal Ceres (security concerns; food and grain.)

Now for the Images for Integration (Chas & Suzi Harvey) for Sun Cap-Moon Can...

Sun Cap-Moon Can is an Earth-Water blend that is conservative yet open to new ideas, a capable manager and organizer, and which describes our president-elect quite well. Plus, this is the firm-father-gentle-mother pairing, so perhaps I should include Michelle Obama in my remarks!

Well, there it is, my take on the Full Moon in Cancer as related to Washington. Now let's relax and enjoy what promises to be a beautiful display of dancing moonbeams which hopefully will encourage our public servants to 'get it right' for a change!
