Foundation data for Phoenix, Arizona

Since new appliances will be delivered here today at any moment, I'll simply provide for those with the time and inclination the natal data for the city of Phoenix, AZ which began on the site of an ancient Native American irrigation system. And yes, the city is named for the mythical phoenix, the bird that rises from ashes and the totem that some of America's founders preferred over the eagle.

My suspicion is that secretly the phoenix has represented America all along!

Be that as it may, the following data may be used to set up a founding horoscope for the city in case you don't have the details already and wish to follow current transits concerning the Veterans Administration's Phoenix office slackness--or, as many of us would term it, the scandal that issues from a huge caseload created for America's multiple war-torn soldiers.

Naturally on this blog and elsewhere the condition of US Mars in Gemini (1776) turning retrograde by progression which occurred in Summer 2006 is a prime factor in such topics with our warriors (Mars) returning (Rx) to find regressive (Rx) and weakening conditions awaiting them when it comes to the US government's glowing promises of care for the health needs of the men and women who were sent into battle by the sub-par politicians of Washington DC. Personally I can think of several neoconservative warmongers who should fairly pony up several million dollars of their own war and weapons profits to pay for our veterans' care.

Phoenix, AZ: October 20, 1870 9:09 am MST; ASC 27Sco43; MC 7Vir24; Moon 2Vir30 in 9th house with natal Mars 25Leo14; Sun 27Lib05 in 11th house and conjunct the Rx degree of transit Mars (March 2, 2014) and thus 27Lib+ is the 'shadow degree' of the Mars Rx period of 2014. The warrior planet ('god of war') will reach and surpass this degree during the 3rd week of July 2014 so perhaps some kind of resolution will be reached in Phoenix around that time--or at least something stalled moves forward. Transit Mars has recently conjoined the city's natal Mercury (paperwork, news, etc) and will hit natal Venus 14Lib58 as well before the warrior planet is done plus, the natal 11th cusp 9Lib02 is within 1 minute of Mars' Direct Station degree (9:01) on May 19th!

In addition, natal South Node 13Cap52 in 2nd house (SN is aka the dragon's tail, a separative and karmic point) is now conjoined by transit Pluto in Capricorn; Pluto/SN is an indicator of violence and war that disrupts society.

Eye of the Phoenix--Secrets of the Dollar Bill

is a video presentation which has been embedded on SO'W before, but I'm rather cussedly posting it again for your consideration.

Few Americans think about US history involving such characters as astrologer Manly P. Hall and Russian mystic Nicholas Roerich. Yet even if you don't believe that 'occult activities' surrounded the administration of Freemason Franklin D. Roosevelt (among others), the video, which covers up to 1935, contains curiosities which may be viewed as amusing 'entertainment', if you wish:

Solar Eclipses of 1935

The year 1935 is when the pyramid and capstone with the All-Seeing Eye (of surveillance! also called the Eye of Horus, Providence, Phoenix, etc) was placed upon the dollar bill by the FDR administration. It's one of those rare years when 5 Solar Eclipses manifested (along with 2 Lunar Eclipses, listed below.) Let's take a look at the themes of the 5 Solar Eclipses just to get a sense of the background influences and flavors of 1935:

1. Jan 5, 9 Old North @14Cap: my source, Brady's Predictive Astrology, gives no theme for this Saros Series but we may surmise that Capricornian issues of government, law, and business were ahoof with tones of seriousness, conscientiousness, authority, and a need to "correct wrongful karmic situations and to guide others along the spiritual path." (Rose Lineman);

That 'the path' may be of a Luciferian nature is the question especially since Cap is the sign of The Goat (of Mendes) and is considered a mystical, occult sign containing a labyrinth. Of course, the symbol of the Goat of Mendes is also said to represent wisdom and other more positive things than satanism--yet I know you remember that Dubya was reading My Pet Goat in the classroom when he was informed that the attacks of 9/11/01 had been accomplished;

2. Feb 3, 9 New North @14AQ: sudden physical exertions, accidents, violence. (Last occurred March 19, 2007);

3. June 30, 9 Old South @8Can: falls between US natal Sun and Jupiter--again, no theme listed but in the sign of the sidewinding crab, Cancerian issues are denoted along with the president (Sun, 14Can) and ideology and money supply (our Jupiter at the "Game Birds Feathering Their Nests" degree of 6Can); we may expect potentials to include: security, shrewd business maneuvers, emotional extremes, receptivity and imagination, selfishness (also a typical trait of Capricorn), genealogy, family matters, and fated or karmic ties; Series ended in 1971 @29Can oppposite US natal Pluto in Cap;

4. July 30, New South @6Leo: great yet possibly constructive energy supplied by a Mars-Pluto influence, idealism, and the uniting of loved ones; (last manifested on Sept 11, 2007 @18Vir);

5. Dec 25, 10 North @3Cap: frustrating news, inhibiting events, focus on communications, young people, paperwork; tiring and draining; last manifested on Feb 7, 2008, the year of the Great Bush Depression; next occurs in 2026 @29AQ, near US natal Moon.)

Lunar Eclipses of 1935: Jan 19 @29Cancer and July 26 @23Capricorn, further emphasizing the security and authority axis of Cancer-Capricorn and its ambitious if depressive Moon-Saturn influences. This degree is where karmic Saturn and Pluto meet on January 12, 2020.

Can Arizona nullify federal law? Phoenix's natal horoscope tells a tale

With the state of Arizona continuing its drive to propose a secession bill, one may wonder what is really behind such a bullheaded notion which seemingly has no merit in law.

Not having a natal horoscope for the state of Arizona, I'm publishing one for its state capital Phoenix which is based on a new town rising from the site of an ancient Hohokam people irrigation system. Thus Phoenix is a namesake of the mythical, mystical bird. Early pioneers capitalized on the remains of the irrigation system which diverted water from the Salt River for their farming - see horoscope for transformative Chiron Rx in Aries (sign of the pioneer) in 4th house of Foundation/Roots.

Even in 2011, providing water and sewage services are on top of the city's agenda - a 7% rate increase is scheduled to be addressed on February 23rd.

In Astrology, it is always of extra importance when an eclipse falls upon a natal planet or point. Of current interest in AZ's secession issue is the 13 North Series which manifested on January 4, 2011 @ 13Cap38 (our current Solar Eclipse season.)

The January 2011 eclipse conjoined Phoenix's natal South Node 13Cap27 in 2nd house of Values, Worth, and Earning Ability. As you know, the SN is a Saturnian point of separation, aka, the Dragon's Tail. And on its other end (the Dragon's Head) is NN (encounter; karma; destiny) which as you see conjoins US natal Sun (leadership) in tribal Cancer, a solar symbol of our federal government.

13N (click chart to enlarge; see chart, bottom left) has telling keywords in this particular situation: 'separation; breaking of an already existing bond, then joint achievement' (paraphrasing Brady's Predictive Astrology.)

Well, there we see Arizona's secession urge in a solar nutshell!

Yet of interest as well is Phoenix's Pre-Natal Eclipse Series (PE): 17 North in n 9th H: 'impulsive, hectic energy; motivations are concerned with financial projects and relationship issues' (Brady.) Last 17N: 1996; next: 2014. Phoenix's PE occurred on July 28, 1870 @ 5Leo06 conjoining US natal NN and was actually the initial eclipse in the 17N Series.

And it would be difficult to miss the high-flying Kite pattern (highlighted in blue, planets listed upper right) which stems out of a prideful, visionary Fire Grand Trine between Saturn in Sagittarius (2nd H), Neptune Rx in Aries (5th H), and Mars in Leo (9th H.) The closed-circuit energy of the Grand Trine channels through the extra point forming and leading the Kite's nose: Sun 27Lib05 in 11th H (government); nebulous, idealistic Neptune, ruler of water, other liquids, and drugs, is the Kite's tail.

Plus, a Sun/Neptune opposition tends to have trouble diagnosing its problems and difficulty correctly understanding them, yet it exhibits defiance toward authority.

Now as you know, America's natal Mars/Neptune square causes our nation many problems with its 'confused motivations-misdirected energy-action vs apathy-massive military' connotations and for Phoenix the pair poses no less a dilemma. We may see this in a midpoint equation which points directly at US natal Mars in sometimes duplicitous Gemini.

Phoenix's own confused Mars/Neptune midpoint = its natal Uranus/Pluto midpoint of rebellion and revolution which may indicate misdirected rebellion. Plus, Mars/Neptune gives a hint of men (Mars) secreted and/or smuggled (Neptune) over the porous (Neptune) border (Saturn, trining n Mars in 9th H of foreigners and Neptune in 5th H of risk-taking.)

Natal Uranus/Pluto = US natal Mars: fanaticism; acts of violence; mania of destruction; a state of precipitation; the stage of bending or breaking; showing anger or devising loud or disruptive activities to purposefully make others feel uncomfortable (Hi there, Mr. President!); being impulsive (see natal 17N Eclipse Series), headstrong, or demanding when forcing methods or ideas; coercion; enormous energy. In Politics and Business, *Michael Munkasey gives the Uranus/Pluto combo of energies as: violent upheavals or rioting which bring changes in government. Sounds precisely like the current uprisings across Egypt, doesn't it?

Chart-ruler Mars and co-ruler Pluto, a duo of force, add zeal to the flames.

Then last but not least is Phoenix's expansively active Mars/Jupiter midpoint sitting atop its natal Uranus, that quirky planet of rebellion and freedom...

Natal Mars/Jupiter = n Uranus 26Can31 in 8th H of Shared Resources, Debt, Taxes, Legacies, and Transformation: an urge for freedom; independence; active resistance to tutelage or guardianship; ambition; quick decisions or resolve; sudden incidents; abrupt uses of social forces; finding the best political approaches during times of unrest; changes in competitive rules; explosive expression; breaking loose; domination.

Perhaps that last should be: 'breaking loose from domination'...of the federal government, some wish.

The above details are without consideration of current transits to Phoenix's natal chart other than the very prominent Solar Eclipse of January 4, 2011 conjunct the Dragon's Tail. And looking ahead, more info may come to light as the Lunar Eclipse of June 15, 2011 emphasizes Phoenix's n Jupiter/Saturn opposition (expansion vs restriction issues) and this natal midpoint picture:

Moon/Neptune = Jupiter 26Gem25 Rx: grand imaginings and plans; far-reaching wishes; enhanced ability to read others' motivations and put them into a political context.

My first thought is that the state government of Arizona may want to read and understand its own motivations first before it continues such an undermining course for the sake of America's future for US sovereignty is the basic issue here. However, the thoughts of its citizens (sans forces intending to create an American Union between Mexico, US, and Canada with its starve state budgets strategy) come way before my own.

THE DESCENT OF PHOENIX: When NASA's Phoenix probe parachuted to Mars last Sunday, a pair of other spacecraft were orbiting high overhead, watching and listening. While NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter snapped some jaw-dropping photos of Phoenix's plunge to the surface, Europe's Mars Express orbiter recorded Phoenix's radio transmissions.

The eerie-sounding tones have just been beamed back to Earth and you can listen to them by following the links at today's edition of SpaceWeather.com

CARTWHEEL CME: Imagine a billion-ton cloud of gas launching itself off the surface of the sun and then...doing a cartwheel. That's exactly what happened on April 9, 2008, when a coronal mass ejection pirouetted over the sun's limb in full view of an international fleet of spacecraft. The cartwheel set off a chain of events that amazed even veteran solar physicists.

Amusing that all this Mars landing, visitation, and recording have been while planet Mars is conjunct the natal Ascendant of George Bush...at the "A Bolshivik Propagandist" degree (8 Leo.)

Bush does love all things Martian, most especially and including his big opportunity to front as a 'war president.'

It's his adolescent obsession to outdo daddy all the way to Baghdad--and we see what the world is reaping along with a small man's Saturn complex and an alarming lack of conscience.
