An Ode to Dick Nixon

An Ode to Dick Nixon

Former President Richard Nixon marred much of the years I spent in Washington DC moons ago when it was my favorite city of residence. Perhaps it still is in spite of how subsequent political and financial crooks and varmints have clouded its much-touted promise. Anyway, the following Ode occurred to me unbidden on this, the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Tricky's birth:

Dick Nixon would be one-oh-oh if he were walking 'round

"I'm not a crook," or so he said but differently was found

Yet not all bad we must admit politicly astute

still paranoia was his fall which caused him ill repute.

Now! Glad that's done. Here's a post from 2007 concerning President Richard M. Nixon's resignation with a few astro-notes on his personality if you're game. You'll find a link to his letter of resignation therein.

The Saga of Alaska Cat

Sarah Palin was discussed this morning on TV by Karl Rove and others yet the Bad Poetry muse alit and The Saga of Alaska Cat was written in spite of all their fine punditry.

Can rhyming sagas be brief like thwarted political careers? I think so, especially if they're self-thwarted...meanwhile, back on Earth, pundit Mo Rocca cautions, "Your opinion on the Palin-Letterman feud won't land you a job at McDonald's."

Maybe the following political saga can become part of my Bad Poetry resume if I should need one!

Alaska Cat is out the door
we don't know what she's leaving for
a federal probe? perhaps a scandal
might be just too hot to handle
GOPers if asked why
may voice support when others pry
their real opinions coyly veiled
Alaska Cat has now been nailed.

Rove the no-show

As you know, Karl Rove defied Congress yesterday and failed to show up for testifying purposes concerning his role in the politicization of the Justice Department and other such unsavory things. They say he left the country!

Should we have taken Congress' subpoena to Rove seriously? Puh! Capitol Hill Theater, dahlink! 'Twas meant to keep the unwashed masses at bay.

Now this unsurprising lack of occurrance has inspired a brief poem if you'd care to mosey over to Lim's Limericks so say Hi to Lim for me...his lovely snoot is to be seen there - but Karl Rove's lovely snoot isn't to be seen anywhere which, when you think about it, isn't such a bad deal after all.

A sheepishly admitted Update 7.11.08: above link is now repaired--apologies!

Limericking Obama

Why limerick yesterday's apparent delegate winner of the Dem primary race? And you have every right to ask.

Well, I'm only the typist over at Lim's Limericks but if you'd care to slink over you'll find a new political limerick from Mr.A.Cat, an agent formerly in service to our nation (and whose whereabouts remain unknown so don't even ask.)

Plus, you'll see a photo of the infamous Lim doing what he does so well and so often.

So why fight it? Prez Cat Takes Montana! may be your destiny so please have your best rhymery groans handy!
