With today's Neptune Direct Station @00Pis21 and "1 Pisces" having "A Public Market" Sabian Symbol, I want to mention once again America's Pre-Natal Eclipse Saros Series, the 12 South, with its theme of: 'successful outcomes to long-term worries or illness; things seem worse at first then clear' (paraphrasing Brady's Predictive Astrology.)

A Solar Eclipse in the 12S last manifested on July 11, 2010 and you may remember that the BP Deepwater Horizon blowout had occurred in the Gulf of Mexico and under the influence of 12S, a 'cap' was finally installed successfully to stop the millions of gallons of oil releasing into the waters. The compromised well has leaked of late but that's beyond the scope of this brief post on oceanic Neptune, King of the Seas.

Neptune's Direct Station occurred at 2:52:36 am est while many of us were sleeping which is appropriate for the nebulous planet of the Unconscious, sleep and sleep aids. Note: if by now you haven't caught and released that giant green moth flying around you bedroom, please do so! Unless you're on the East Coast and are made homeless by Hurricane Sandy, that is. Then Neptune's rulership of water and flooding is all too real for comfort with your pillows and beds washed out to sea.

And the Winner Is...Barack Obama

To add more of an unconscious flavor to Neptune's Direct Station today, mindful Mercury Rx forms an applying square (blockages; obstacles) aspect with Neptune which provides the Collective Unconscious with difficulties in seeing things clearly just when we need to as 2012 ends. In Washington, we find many bubble-living Republicans who are having more problems than usual ignoring realities they don't like. But facing truth--not one of Neptune's talents yet a Direct Neptune tends to be more honest--is an imperative now and political progress of the GOP will be limited until they do. Yet as in Summer 2011, they may decide to take America down with them as they go, kamikaze-style.

As for reality-based Saturn @4Sco22 in 2nd house in the Neptune Direct Station horoscope set for Washingotn DC, Mr. Lesson-Bringer and Neptune are in the trine stage of their approximately 33-year cycle. They last met in Great Conjunction/s in 1989 three times: March 3, June 24, and November 13 in the 10 to 12 degree range of Capricorn. As you know, these degrees of Capricorn are within orb now of transiting Pluto so we have a midpoint picture to consider for a snapshot of these energies when combined and which time links 1989 with 2012/13:

1989 Saturn-Neptune = 2012/13 Pluto: difficult growth or development; heavy emotional depression (Ebertin); feeling downtrodden; tremendous awareness of loss potential (Tyl.)

Actually, you may wish to review a list of major events which occurred in 1989 such as the Exxon Valdez tanker running aground--a deja-vu in 2010 and mentioned during the BP Deepwater Horizon fiasco that killed eleven workers, if memory serves.

Neptune Direct Stations @ Discovery degree 11.7.10

In the wee hours of November 7, 2010, gaseous Neptune turned Direct @ 25AQ55 with its traveling partner, Chiron, @ 26AQ04 now Direct as well - and both still affectng US natal Moon.

On September 24, 1846, Neptune was discovered when @ 25AQ53 and Rx, conjunct Saturn 25AQ08 Rx, with both planets at the base of a YOD pattern (Finger of God; turning point; crisis; special task) which points to Mars 25Vir59. The other planet at the base of the YOD/s is powerful, manipulative Pluto 25Ari23 Rx.

This creates two midpoint pictures to consider relating to the discovery (and meaning) of Neptune which in 1846 and 2010 conjoins US natal Moon (the people):

Saturn/Pluto = Mars: fighting battles to keep life going; enormous undercurrent of frustration; a gun with a cork in its barrel; activating plans for much upheaval or destruction; a need to use whatever means or power is available to continue working.

Neptune/Pluto = Mars: added compulsion to use violence to achieve one's dreams; use of drugs to speed up or alter life; great personal magnetism to set things right, or rejection of actions due to misunderstanding.

We might substitute Neptune in the equation with US n Moon...

Moon/Pluto = Mars: too much energy not knowing where to go; frustration and anger; use of force to achieve changes in corrupt practices; deep irritation about any delays; active in assuring that promised protection is delivered.

(Hmmm...is that last one a reason the president is in Asia? His trip's theme inspired by Gandhi: 'Be the change you want to see' yet with Neptune, one can never be certain what one is seeing. Dubious trade deals behind-the-scenes is more up Neptune's secret alley.)

So with President Obama now on his 10-day trip to Asia and speaking from New Delhi India, Neptune activity in the heavens seems appropriate for these mystical places and for a US president traveling over Neptune's oceans. When the Neptune Direct Station chart of Nov 7, 2010 is set for Washington DC, the Ascendant 6Vir06 'brings up' Mr. Obama's natal Pluto. With the chart set for New Delhi, India, his natal Midheaven in late Scorpio has the Moon (publicity) upon it as he spoke to a joint session of the Indian Congress.

Now I'm tempted to add the Sabian Symbol for Neptune's Direct Station-Discovery degree but am feeling too sassy for that. So here's Adriano Carelli's analysis from his The 360 Degrees of the Zodiac for '26AQ' which fits well into watery Neptune's realm:

'26AQ' = "A water source spurts forth by a high mountain top and dashes down, filling its boulder-strewn path with hissing foam."

This degree is about one who 'stands out like a beacon' but may have a position as unstable as water. "The danger of tumbling is an ever-present one" but Carelli reminds us that, of course, the rest of the map must support the tumbling.

"Should other strands in the pattern offset the headiness of the temper and induce a certain order in the turmoil of ideas babbling up in his mind, the native could turn into a real master (initiatory components would make him into an occult master); on the other hand, baneful components may warp his recklessness into blindness (taken literally or figuratively.)

So, happy Asian trip, Mr. President. Enjoy revisiting your roots and spouting your babbling of ideas...but do avoid the hissing foam.

Horoscope of the Neptune Station Direct Nov 4, 2009

On Nov 4, 2009, Neptune Rx changes direction following its Rx Station near the end of May, 2009 @ 26AQ28. Here you see the horoscope of the precise degree/minute/second that the gaseous giant turns *Direct @ 23AQ41; Hour of Mercury 12Sco06 conjunct Sun 12Sco28...'13Sco' = "An Inventor Inventing."

Sun and Mercury are at apex of a Fixed T-Square (highlighted in blue on the chart)...

Mars/ASC = Sun: quarrels; having to adjust things forcefully; operating in an inhospitable milieu; intense teamwork; excitability.

Mars/ASC = Mercury: disputes; a sharp tongue; angry letters; telling someone off; a desire for discussion; intolerance.

Wealthy string-puller and sometime-assassin and spy Pluto is nestled within midpoints pictures himself, indicating big proposals, persuasions, and extreme good fortune of the kind he takes for granted.

As you see, the revolutionary, force-wielding, reforming, and impatient Uranus/Pluto midpoint is rising...

Uran/Pluto = ASC: force active in one's environment, or application of force; placed in an unusual or restless environment. (Tyl; Ebertin.)

Does this describe Afghanistan?

Well, as you know, whenever a planet changes direction its energy is emphasized and strengthened as it 'slows down' in preparation for its reversal - seeming to 'stop' on the degree and minute, so we may notice that in the first week of November 2009 Neptunian qualities in the collective such as spirituality, compassion, and inspiration are spotlighted (Feed America food banks, etc?) - yet insidiously, a stronger Neptune may simultaneously fuel confusions, delusions, and mysteries in global and national arenas.

Unanswered questions and puzzles may not be answered or solved just yet as much as they are uncovered with Neptune's veils being lifted to reveal...more mysteries! And with critical degrees on the Money axis 2/8 cusps - and Neptune's co-rulership of Pisces (2nd house of Earning Ability), loss of employment continues with governmental numbers being fudged for best political effect.

Is this the 'inventor inventing'? (Sun = 'the leader' in a national chart so we'll want to attend to what the president says about financial matters during Neptune's Station (see below for date its exactitude ends.)

One may wonder if this change of direction for the 'unwashed masses'/'mass media' planet associated with oil, gas, and other liquids will at some point reveal or at least partially answer questions about 2008's election (and/or Inauguration 2009) since this Station Direct occurs on Nov 4, one day after the one-year anniversary of the election/selection of Barack Obama. At his victory announcement on TV (NYC), rising was Mr. Obama's natal Sun which you see setting here.

In the 2009 Inaugural chart, Neptune was @ 23AQ05 as noted on the outside of the chart (click image to enlarge) and was - is, since an Inaugural chart remains in effect for the duration of the president's term it describes - involved in a midpoint picture - Uranus/MC = Neptune: creativity; expecting recognition, withdrawal if frustrated; powerlessness; a paralyzed will; suppressed anger.

And interestingly, Neptune on Nov 4 is focal planet in a midpoint picture which has been ongoing for a couple of weeks or so: the 'political reformist group' midpoint of Uranus/North Node...

Uran/NN = Neptune: one who is easily influenced or impressed; being suddenly deceived by others; undermining of an association; retirement of a partner from a joint enterprise; meeting with people off the beaten path.

If you soon hear of such a sudden 'retirement' you gleaned it from underneath secretive Neptune's veil!

The only out-of-bounds body, the Moon, indicates insecurity; the Hour of Mercury may bring announcements, agreements, messages and other mercurial things such as trade or commerce, though the 'inventor inventing' can indicate deceptions as well as creativity - possibly scientific inventions may be announced - or sold.

Osiris, associated with ancient cults and mysteries conjs Sun/Mercury; President Obama's natal Sun is conj this DESC 12Leo51; SIGMA conjs BHO's Sun natally indicating writing, but especially denoting upright moral standards; SIGMA is at MC in the Nov 4 Neptune Station Direct chart and is notated here in my usual scribbly fashion.

Hard times for the US continue and perhaps worsen for a while as the transiting loss-infused, depressive Saturn/Neptune midpoint 12Sag10 conjs US natal ASC in the 'Sibly' chart...you see it marked in 10th house...

Sat/Nep = n ASC: oppressive family circumstances; limitation of freedom; emotional depression; emotional suffering caused by others; sense of being 'out of the group'; a loner.

This has a financial ring but also relates to the loss and hardships of serving in war; plus, Saturn/Neptune has its 'invisible' or 'secret government' flavor as well so secret renditions and surveillance are hiding yet may be part of what a forward moving Neptune uncovers along with more financial fraud. Neptune 23AQ 41 is inconjunct US natal Neptune 22Vir25 showing that adjustments must be or are being made. Inconjuncts (aka, quincunxes, 150 degr) are linked with health problems as well, so health care debates and legislations continue to baffle (Neptune) us.

Here we see tr Midas Rx 8Gem29 with the Moon 7Gem48 in 4th house of the Foundation of the Matter; tr Pan is nearby, so the Moon - the people - are hemmed in by trickster Pan, associated with Capricorn's government-business-law provinces, and gold-hoarding Midas. Basically the trio is in 'nuclear degrees' too, and wherever the Moon is posited indicates fluctuations - here in 4th house of Domestic Scene.

So with goat-like Pan on one side and world-banking Midas on the other, there is a 'victimization' flavor here: the Moon rises with Menkar, a star with keywords: a victim of the unconscious, which Bernadette Brady described to me as: someone being mowed down in a senseless act of violence (and she said this pre-9/11.)

(You may wish to look at President Obama's just-past Geminian Lunar Return but I won't cover it here. Moon in Gemini is also a writer's significator along with Sigma conj his natal Sun in dramatic Leo, so often describing a lawyer or actor.)

Asteroid Icarus 00Sag10, associated with risk-taking and with assassinations, is at MC and opposes asteroid Terpsichore (the orchestrator) 2Gem12 Rx at IC. The riot-inciting, explosive, gun-toting Mars/Uranus midpoint 00Gem54 also opposes Icarus, and no, I don't like the looks of the situation.

Plus, if you want a difficult, grief-inspiring Fixed Star you can't do much better than Alcyone 00Gem00 (keywords: something to cry about), one of the Seven Weeping Sisters indicating exile, suffering, and misfortune. 'Insight' is the only positive expression for Alcyone I know of, but perhaps you know of others.

Also at MC is Yed Prior 2Sag18: success in 9th house matters; shrewd, conniving, sarcastic. (Horary Astrology Plain and Simple, Anthony Louis.)

And of course, the unconscious karmic condition of this MC's 1Sag40 is "1Sag" = "A Grand Army of the Republic Campfire" which corals to the fore the wars we're mired in as lumbering Neptune changes direction.

The stormy week of November 3, 2008

With US elections about to heat up from who-knows-what problems and the Saturn-Uranus opposition perfecting with nebulous Neptune turning Direct, we may wish for a little calming advice from Astrology.

To our rescue comes expert astrologer, Julie Demboski, who provides just that bwo natal Sun sign wisdom for times when Saturn's stability is not available to the collective.

Stability and tradition are on the shaky side now with revolutionary Uranus opposing old man Saturn, in their dance which began with three conjunctions of 1988 at 27-30 Sagittarius, Pluto's recent path as 'the boss of Hades' enters Capricorn for good.

And we know that Pluto's triggering of the 1988 conjunction/s degrees creates a midpoint picture we've been seeing expressed mightily:

Saturn-Uranus = Pluto: tremendous fear of loss; upheaval to protect assets; rebellion; brutality; the desire to overcome a difficult situation through extraordinary effort; harm through force majeure. (Tyl; Ebertin.)

Remember what was going on in 1988? Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune met near the end of Capricorn, funnily enough. And astrologer Marjorie Orr, in her book The Astrological History of the World notes that this triple conjunction hadn't occurred since the 15th century - and that Saturn-Uranus as economic indicators always bring "sharp swings" before settling on a "new track."

(This description may be applied to the presidential election and a new presidential term as well, imo...since the elections are occurring during the perfection of the Saturn-Uranus opposition, the culmination of the cycle begun in 1988. There are many financial implications to this cycle's fulfillment in 2008 but I have no time to compose it.)

A little political something that occurred in 1988 was John McCain's sandbagging of Rose Mofford's testimony to Congress which may be read about in a previous post, To know him is to loathe him: John McCain in Arizona.

Well, in our private lives we could use some balance on the week ahead and these difficult issues and you'll find that Julie's article,Nov 3rd - 10th: Shelter From The Storm, gives comforting advice to the shaken and stirred among us as our 2008 election season mercifully ends with ease or, perhaps more likely, with upheaval before settling down on a new track.

Traditional Saturn isn't fond of being challenged - especially by out-of-the-blue Uranian lightening bolts, you know!
