President Obama Comes A-Courtin' February 7, 2011

Today President Obama sprints across the street from the White House to the temple of the Chamber of Commerce to encourage them to open the gates of jobs creation.
Scheduled to speak at 11:30 am est (Hour of the Sun), the Sun 18AQ33 conjoins Mr. Obama's natal Ascendant (his nibs himself), a time for improving one's self image. The solar emphasis is on the president today and on the goals he wishes to achieve - perfect for speaking to an influential group which has previously opposed his every move yet the recent trade agreement with South Korea is a notable exception to what has been touted as a 2-year stand-off between the president and the Chamber (I don't really buy that, but you may.)
Moon 8Ari46 is in 11th house of Groups, Associations, Hopes/Wishes along with moneybags Jupiter 3Ari06 and rebellious Uranus, still hanging back in murky Pisces (28:18) but moving direct and ready to rumble at Aries Point soon (AP = US natal Ic.)
Moon/Uranus = Jupiter: becoming more aware of the political skills needed to market your ideas.
But will President Obama be successful in persuading the Chamber to loosen the corporate hiring strings on behalf of American workers?
At 11:30 am, ASC 26Tau44 gives an interesting Sabian Symbol: '27Tau' = "An Old Indian Woman Selling Beads" which always reminds me of selling Manhattan! Well, he is selling something and hopefully it isn't only himself with the 2012 campaign just ahead.
Since our topic is a speech, Mercury's position and symbol are even more to the point: Mercury 5AQ55 conjunct 11:30 am's Midheaven 5:33 (Goals; Aspirations)...'6AQ' = "A Performer of a Mystery Play." Mercury conjoins US natal South Node (SN), a point of separation which indicates that Mr. Obama's ideas and plans (Mercury) are either ahead or behind the times - and naturally Mercury in Aquarius has progressive ideas, so with the planet of commerce, trade, negotiations, and oration conjunct SN, we may expect Obama's ideas for improvement in the US economy to be original and to escape the pitfalls of popular opinion.
In the long run, the president's ideas will prove to be correct yet a downside of Mercury/SN is an inability to gain support for them; one must proceed alone because the new ideas go unheeded.
Chart-ruler Venus 3Cap06 opposes US natal Venus, a time when people are encountered who are unsympathetic to one's proposals and opinions. Diplomacy and relationships meet with conflicts yet the Chamber has publicly expressed that it now wants to "reaffirm the American business community's absolute commitment to working with (the president)" as Tweeted this morning by West Wing Report.
And evaluating Venus makes only one applying aspect in the speech chart, her conjunction to wealthy Pluto (2A40 - two days, weeks, months) which indicates material give-and-take, a connection with bankruptcy, and shows an inability to accept social injustices without doing something about them.
Well, today's Sun has moved beyond conjunction with testy Mars 17AQ52 ('18AQ" = "A Man Unmasked") and has nebulous, deceptive Neptune 29AQ02 to deal over the next few days (the masses; mass media.) This will put US natal Moon (the people) between them for this midpoint picture:

Well, I'm receptive to the dream of jobs creation in America, aren't you? But as for more Neptunian propaganda, I'm fed up to here.

With the president's speech today, I see conflict between adding to what's been given to a council of wealthy bankers and business leaders, and their fear that "Robin Hood" intends to "rob" the rich to give to the poor - even though America's ever-growing income equality is one of our nation's greatest injustices.
C-SPAN is providing live coverage of the president's speech to the Chamber of Commerce in a few minutes so I'll shut down, hush up, and listen. But will the Chamber?

Taft touts US Chamber of Commerce under YOD influences
Last evening I searched for a definite founding date for the US Chamber of Commerce so I could set up its horoscope and April 12, 1912 popped out as the date when a group of 700 delegates from a variety of commerce and trade organizations met and created a "unified body of business interests that would later become the US Chamber of Commerce", as the entity's Wiki bio states.
The Chamber is also billed as being America's largest not-for-profit lobbying organization though I confess to having no idea where the 'not-for-profit' part fits in. Recently the COO of the US Chamber of Commerce, David Chavern, stated that, "We are not crazy or outside the mainstream" which makes me wonder how working behind the scenes in secretive ways cannot be considered 'outside the mainstream'.
So with my astrologer's cap in place, the date that really stood out because of its horoscope was December 7, 1911 when President Taft announced in his annual message to Congress a central organization in touch with associations and chambers throughout the country and able to keep purely American interests in closer touch with different phases of commercial affairs. If it sounds like Taft was put up to it, I think he was...read on.
As you know, in 1909 William H. Taft succeeded Teddy Roosevelt as president and some interesting possibilities exist between Taft's use of 'investment capital to keep the open door partially open to China' (America Interpreted Vol II: Since 1865, Woods and Gatewood) and the formation of the US Chamber of Commerce's mission to contribute to the "wholesome development of commerce, domestic and foreign." We might be tempted to wonder at the implications even then between business dealings of the US by way of the Chamber with China, America's biggest debt holder now. But that would have to be a post for another day.

Considering the current debates over the Chamber's acceptance of foreign funding being used to finance certain 2010 November midterm campaigns in the US, one could now wonder about its original 'purely American' reference in 1911. Taft's touting that its creation would "restore confidence" (in the wake of the bankers' Panic of 1907) and "excite enthusiasm" mark the endeavor as a decidedly Jupiterian event.
So! The chart for December 7, 1911 Capitol Hill, Washington DC (using 8:00 pm est - can't find mention of the hour of Taft's address to Congress) has not one, not two, but three interlaced YOD patterns of planetary energies indicating crisis, critical conditions, special tasks, and/or turning points.
Here are the midpoint pictures formed by the three YODs along with each planet's sign and degree; a mixture of Ebertin, Tyl, and Munkasey midpoints are used:

Graphing the National Debt
Supply-siders revealed! Voo Doo Economics don't work! Trickle Down is poppycock!
There's more behind America's National Debt situation than most people care to admit - especially the GOP who rail against it only when Democrats are in charge.
The graph begins with Ronald Reagan and morphs into his virtual sidekick, George W. Bush, which in my opinion is a very good place to start.
Which reminds me: in November midterms, a vote for Republicans is a vote for Karl Rove.

We may be uncertain of President Obama's policies now, but we know what we got under 8 years of Bush-Cheney-Rove.

White House presser 6.23.09: a little Astrology
As reported on TV's Nightline, President Obama will hold a press conference in the Rose Garden Tuesday (6.23) at 12:30 pm edt with America's natal Neptune in Virgo rising, and the transiting Sun/Mercury midpoint at Midheaven, the Goal/Aspiration Point of the chart.
Sun/Mercury = Mc: standing by one's convictions and speaking up for oneself; an intellectual worker; a businessman.
This will also place Mr. Obama's natal Mars rising since it is conjunct US natal Neptune...
Mars/Neptune = ASC: instability; weakness; termination of associations or unions; sharing sorrows with others. (Iranian protesters? DC Metrorail crash victims and their families? jc)

Well, I don't know what the US Chamber of Commerce (and what are characterized as other Obama opponents) would say about this chart or post, but I for one wish they'd butt out of the White House's efforts to improve the lot of the average American. Share a little of the wealth, greedy plutocrats! We don't crave your fancy cakes, but nutritious bread for our children would be only fair and humane.
Yet I say this assuming, of course, that reforms are being honestly pursued in good faith, for the players of Capitol Hill Theater seldom get around to legislating practical changes and laws that result in real improvements for we-the-people while America's plutocrats always fare ever so well.

So plutocracy is vulgar and defiant - a badly intentioned combination. No wonder we've landed in such deep hot water. It's knowing which shadowy figures to hold accountable that's our puzzlement - just as the power elite bandits intended. jc
