A Curious Synchronicity: Summer 2010 and the War of 1812

With today being July 4th I've been reading about the War of 1812 which I know very little about. Fought between American patriots and British forces, the Royal Navy, and certain Native American tribes wanting a federation of their own (with British encouragement in order to limit US expansion), the War began on June 18, 1812 and ended by Britain and American signing the Treaty of Ghent. It was events of this war that inspired Francis Scott Key to pen The Star Spangled Banner, our national anthem.

And what is the curious synchronicity between the War of 1812 and the summer of 2010? Perhaps you remember another act of British aggression that occurred in Summer 2010--the Deepwater Horzozon Oil "Spill" in the Gulf of Mexico which we lay at the feet of the British Petroleum Oil Company. Or should I say, the BP Corporation? Here's my original post on BP's oil disaster which includes the Independence horoscope of Mexico and the horoscope of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Fiasco itself with power asteroid Hidalgo rising.

Both events, the start of the War on June 18, 1812 and the massive 2010 oil leak (in which Halliburton also played a major role) that attacked the US coastline occurred under the influence of Solar Eclipses in the 12 South Saros Series.

And so the theme of 12 South applies to the War of 1812 of British aggression and the BP oil attack of 2010--the first event involved France, the second involved Mexico: long term draining issues at first seem worse then suddenly clear with successful outcomes. (Brady's Predictive Astrology.) In 1812, 12S fell @22Pisces which suggests sea and naval action; in 2010 12S fell @19Cancer, another watery, oceanic hint plus 19 Cancer+ rounded up hits a difficult fixed star, Castor with its potentials for murder, loss, and/or the crippling of limbs (A. Louis). BP cut corners and people died, if you remember. And of course, the financial issue of trade lies beneath both events.

So it seems that yours truly is on Britain's case this Independence Day! And here I'm fussing against The Empire in spite of the genealogy research I've done lately into my own English roots. Could it be I fight against myself?

Edgar Allan Poe season for Halloween?

Another Halloween, another Edgar Allan Poe season, don't you think?

Especially since the current season of President Obama's term began on January 20, 2009 with we-the-people's national Moon @ 29Scorpio45, a 29th critical or crisis degree showing what sort of shape the Bush-Cheney monster had us in by Inauguration Day 2009. But that's not the only reason I mention this degree along with Poe's illustrious name...

It's because rounding up for Inaugural Moon 2009, we have '30Sco' = "A Halloween Jester" a figure which seems embedded in the news these days. Tricksters and Pans of a political persuasion are sashaying around Washington DC as if they owned the place, and our national airwaves, internets, and phones are full of people preaching at us while railing against their perceived, scoundrely opponents who - as anyone can plainly see - shouldn't be elected dog catcher.

By this sound reasoning, neither should they.

'30Sco' 'Keyword: SPONTANEOUSNESS.

positive expression: a gift for making the desires and ambitions of self not only of interest but of actual value to others;

negative/unconscious/shadow side: ineptness of self-expression and contempt for established values.'

(The Sabian Symbols in Astrology , Marc Edmund Jones.)

Besides, you know that US Inaugural Moon 2009 was void-of-course, thus we-the-people have been rather at loose ends and things aren't turning out as someone planned.

I imagine the 'contempt' is the public's record-high level of contempt for Congress, don't you? And 'contempt for established values' may relate to many things on various levels but I suspect that tossing out congressional incumbents on November 2, 2010 may be part of the Capitol Hill soap opera that will soon unfold. Plus, animosity toward President Obama is very much on the contemptuous side for some Americans who appreciate the GOP's sit-on-our-hands strategy.

Those Sour Grapes of Wrath

The political ploy "Anything to Make the President Look Bad" has grown beyond tiresome when so many public issues need solving on our behalf. Civics classes need reinstating where they've been cut, too. But that would mean that the American people might quit being so polarized by political operatives and could possibly learn again to vote for their/our own best interests.

Of course, solutions to our problems secretly hide or simply remain unembodied when 98.9% of offered candidates stink until even the electorate's accustomed 'lesser of two evils' default strategy sputters at the ballot box as it must do this year.

Witches, frat boys, and Nazi sympathizers - our electorate cups truly runneth over like lethal, leaking storage ponds this 2010 midterm season.

And all the while, I'll be trying to avoid taking another of Pat Boone's robo-calls while trying not to become overly diverted on Nov 2 and beyond - whenever all the squawking and/or recounts start. Why, we don't even know if all US voting machines will 'work' properly or honestly on Nov 2 so the only up-side of this I can think of at the moment is that perhaps, at last, the US government will cease going abroad to brazenly and hypocritically boss around other nations on how to 'run' an election democratically.

Democratically.

Such bald headed bosh!

Aquarius Full Moon of the Buck: July 25, 2010

The Full Moon 3AQ00 on July 25, 2010 @ 9:37 pm edt is an annual Buck Moon and my friend C.J. Wright, author of the wonderful Auntie Moon blog, has published an excellent article telling us how to read a Full Moon in relation to our personal horoscopes.

Check out C.J.'s Full Moon in Aquarius: Feel Like Bucking the System? for details. For where better to go for lunation information than from Auntie Moon herself? ;p

In Washington, they like to say The Buck Stops Here whether they mean it or not. (And yes, it's usually just a political slogan trotted out when expedient.)

But where will the buck stop in your chart for July-August 2010? If you know where '3AQ' falls, there you'll find you inner lunar Bambi! (Mine's in 5th house and I'm still feeling traumatized by a childhood viewing of Disney's film Bambi.)

Now in the Inauguration 2009 horoscope for President Obama, '3AQ' was inhabited by a 10th house Jupiter, planet of big bucks, bankers, The General, professors, gurus and yogis, priests, and Republicans.

If we look to the Sabian Symbols for clues to 2010's Buck Moon we find that:

'3AQ" = "A Deserter from the Navy"...'Keynote: The individual's self-realization through a crucial repudiation of a collective status which has become unbearable. (Rudhyar, An Astrological Mandala.)

(My italics in memory of that great Shakespearian bard, Sarah Palin.)

Dane Rudhyar goes on to explain this degree as: 'Something with collective social value is being potentially destroyed, but nature is not the destroyer. Man, the individual, steps out of his bondage to collective patterns and ideals. He may "find himself" by means of a sharp renunciation of his social birthright, i.e. by a crucial process of DESOCIALIZATION.'

Well, many things of collective social value have been and are in process of being destroyed with the collusion of many entities and forces as big industry titans like BP Oil execs seem to have forgotten their own social birthrights as part of the human race. This makes the exploitation of the natural world and of their fellow man more palatable and must in part account for their ability to sleep at night and face themselves in mirrors next morning, imho. (Vampirism notwithstanding.)

Then, if you prefer the rounding-up method for the symbols, there's '4AQ" which may relate more to Inugural 2009 Jupiter 3AQ32 - and this is also Jupiter's position in the natal chart of Bavarian Iluminati founder, *Adam Weishaupt:

'4AQ" = "A Hindu Yogi Demonstrates His Healing Powers"...'Keynote: The disciplined use of spiritual energies in restoring the natural harmony disturbed by man's inharmonic attempts to transcend nature through mind.

It is the spiritual duty of individuals who have been able to tap the vast reservoir of spiritual forces pervading our planet to use these energies for healing their less-fortunate comrades. (...)

Self-discipline, purity of motive, compassion, faith in the divine order are required--and the FOCUSING OF SPIRITUAL ENERGY.'

(My bold in honor of Inaugural Jupiter 2009.)

May people of good faith take the lead in focusing of spiritual energy and thereby put the dark forces behind us, forces which intend only ill for all mankind...even the power elite who imagine themselves above such mundane considerations.

A Blog Note: this Buck Moon weekend will be sparse in the blogging department as I work to complete an article for a certain online magazine. For those with an interest in using the lens of Astrology to look at US history and its effects on the future of America, I hope you'll be open to checking it out. But for now, the article is To Be Announced.

Now here's one of my favorite Full Moon drawings to wish you a Happy Buck Moon!

Brief Update 7.24.10: NPR's book review feature this morning with Scott Simon made a rare mention of author, Pearl S. Buck. The mention seemed of interest to me for Sunday's Buck Moon though one occasionally hears of a long-ago lady author who lived in China until 1934 and used her experience to write her classic novel The Good Earth with a rousingly affectionate and loving description of Chinese peasants and a perfectly rhythmed writing cadence. The novel was a best-seller in 1931 and 1932; it won the Pulitzer Prize in 1932.

Pearl Sydenstricker Buck was a prolific literary genius yet her work has been overlooked by cultural gatekeeprs as this article points out and thus is seldom recommended.

Yet Buck was the first American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature (1938) and her multiple works of fiction and non-fiction are worth a look from later generations. It's been later than her heyday and in our own times that feminism has successfully been diluted and given a black eye.

Those with short attention spans might better enjoy reading her short stories!
