Sen. Ted Kennedy passes, North Node to his natal Saturn

The sad news about Senator Ted Kennedy's passing late last evening after his year-long battle with brain cancer was expected but sobering. Flags fly at half mast in Washington, DC, and I, the reluctant astrologer, feel compelled to see what transits were in effect to his natal chart. So far I've only found "late last night" rather than an exact time of death.

Blogging time is brief again today (tomorrow will be better), but there is the senator's Saturn in his first house @ 29Cap49, with the transiting NN 29Cap43, pointing and saying that Saturn the Timekeeper has run out the clock. Venus 29Can22 opposes at the tr South Node, and conjunct the current Solar Eclipse degree of 29Can27.

His was the system that failed (7.21.09 Solar Ecl = 'systems fail.')

Sen. Kennedy's natal North Node 26Pis15 in n 2nd house has a planetary visitor as well: Uranus 25Pis30; Sun 2 - 3 Virgo approaches his problematic Moon 6Vir25 and Neptune 6Vir44 conjunction in 8th house.

Last last night (using 11:30 pm edt), Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, at the family compound, Moon 17Sco32 was in the senator's natal 10th house and opposing his n Chiron 18Tau58, and the transiting Mars 00Can16/Pluto 00Cap44 opposition falls across his natal 6/12 axis of Health and Hospitals.

And with natal Sun representing 'vitality' there are several transits to his natal Sun 2Pis32 (2nd house), most of which hare separating: Sun, Mercury, Mars, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. All are oppositions or minor squaring aspects.

Last night's Mercury 00Lib16 is in the senator's n 8th house conjuncts America's natal Midheaven ('Sibly'); Saturn 22Vir12 conjuncts US n Neptune (in Virgo, sign of Work - he was quite a 'workhorse') indicating loss; tr Mercury/Saturn midpoint = natal SN 26Pis15.

The Mars/Pluto opposition upon World Points of Prominence square his natal Nodal axis, so perhaps we have what the senator will be remembered for...

Tr Mars/Pluto = n NN: working with others to change the world.

May you RIP, Senator Kennedy.

Grassley uses Kennedy's cancer to create more fear over Health Care Reform

The GOP is fighting tooth'n'nail now as Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) uses Ted Kennedy's advanced age and his brain tumor to fearmonger against Health Care Reform legislation.

Now it's true that "rationing" may turn out to be a problem if reform is passed, especially with the need for more doctors and nurses in this country. But the GOP has no concern that for millions of non-wealthy Americans, the US health care system works like a rationing system now when you are shut out from getting care at all, or get attention only when medical conditions are beyond improvement or care arrives too late.

Can anything be more vampirish and selfish than insurance companies keeping a person who's in need of life-saving care on tenterhooks and filing more forms until time - and their lives - run out? The suffering they cause should be shameful to them.

If corporations are people, too and people have consciences, should corporations get in line for conscience transplants? That's a fund I'd donate to, if necessary, and no rationing allowed.

As it stands, insurance companies 'ration' treatment in preference for the health of their bottom lines, not for those who've paid them premiums for years. In this case, 'rationing' is another word for weeding out the sick, poor, and aged...aka, population control. And they're determined to hold on to their ability to do it - as if it's their 'right' because they worship the god of profits.

Enter Chuck Grassley, stage right.

But that's my populist mindset. Obviously Grassley and the GOP - and some Democrats - see things quite differently through the lens of gold standard care, don't they?

Meanwhile, it's the American people paying the lion's share of congressional insurance premiums! As I've complained here previously: congressmembers should pay 100% of their health care premiums and costs...then we'll talk.

Sick For Profit by Brave New Films

From Robert Greenwald and Brave New Films:

United Healthcare CEO Stephen Hemsley owns $744,232,068 in unexercised stock options. CIGNA’s Edward Hanway spends his holidays in a $13 million beach house in New Jersey. Meanwhile, regular Americans are routinely denied coverage for the care they need when they need it most.

US Senate finally no-nos tobacco

Senator Ted Kennedy thinks a miracle has finally occurred.

And what will President Obama do when he takes five now?

Apr 12, 2009

Tell me again: why is Pres Obama looking racist?

Here's an article from Stars Over Washington's Looks As If It's True Department:

Obama sides with banks accused of racism which is difficult to believe and even harder to stand for.

He's begun to sound too much like Bush3 for me.

The subprime mortgage case involves several of those Pluto-Chiron isms and I don't think a cute little black'n'white puppy should take precedence over this legal case in the media no matter *who gifted the Portugese water dog to the young Obama daughters (sweet as they are.)

Actually I think it's not about racism for Mr. Obama per se, it's about protecting the financially powerful elite who helped put him in office for such a purpose as this. Perhaps Pres. Obama is more of a monarchist than a racist, hmm?

Well? Have you any thoughts on the matter?

*The new puppy now leaving bundles of joy in the White House is a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy.
