Astro-Notes: Senator-Elect Doug Jones

December 13, 2017: As you've heard, last night Democratic candidate Doug Jones was elected to the US Senate by Alabama residents who thereby voted their state into the 21st century. Of course, Jones' opponent in the Special Election, the controversial Roy Moore, intends to contest election results if there's any basis for doing so (exs: military votes have yet to be counted, a difference of less than 1/2% will automatically trigger a re-count--and voting Mercury is retrograde now).

Contested, re-counted, or final, let's see what can be gleaned from a speculative natal horoscope for Doug Jones--speculative since no birth time is known so 'noon' is used but with a 24-hour range of degrees for natal Sun and Moon. Yet a few chart factors are knowable even without correct timing of his birth. For instance, Mercury in Taurus (logical thinking) and Venus in Gemini (courtesy and cooperation, a desire for discussion) are in Mutual Reception and thus 'friendly' with one another.

Born May 4, 1954 in Fairfield, Alabama (Jefferson County), attorney Doug Jones is known for trying and convicting the Klansmen who blew up four little girls in church in 1963 (for which I say, Major Kudos to Mr. Jones!) During the recent senate campaign, attempts to paint him by Trump and others as soft on 'law and order' rang hollow to me, and apparently did so for many voters in Alabama--some who were uncomfortable voting for an alleged sexual predator of young girls, even a Republican one named Roy Moore.

The 24-hour period of May 4, 1954 shows the Sun (conscious mind) ranging from 13Tau14 to 14Tau12 and Moon (the unconscious/emotions) from 3Gem02 to 17Gem45. The last Lunar position conjoins Trump's natal Uranus, his guiding planet of quirkiness and cantankerousness in the sign of communications--while simultaneously conjoining the Uranus of Roy Moore, all at 17Gemini+.

Doug Jones: Earth and Air

His is an Earth-Air combo of rationality, efficiency, and innovation supported by an efficient Mars in Saturn-ruled Capricorn (6Cap30 at noon). However, Earth-Air blends have a tendency to become 'dry as dust' and give little attention to the emotional and/or intangible sides of life and may 'blow hot and cold' emotionally which can cause problems in close relationships. Yet this well-directed energy easily supports a career in law enforcement and, perhaps, in politics.

Doug Jones: Sun Taurus-Moon Gemini = 'earthy yet breezy'

Sun Taurus-Moon Gemini denotes one who is down-to-earth and charming, a witty conversationalist, and dogmatic yet flippant. An impulsive talker, Mr. Jones personifies the 'country mouse vs city mouse' archetype and desires control and certainty in life while arguing and bullying his way along (useful traits for a legal prosecutor, I imagine.) This blend shows that his is a clear-headed and practical intelligence with a good business sense, and he is able to consider new ideas and put the worthy ones into practice without much fuss. With maturity, Doug Jones has probably learned that flexibility, not confrontation, gets the best results for all concerned.

The Sun Taurus-Moon Gemini personality blend of Doug Jones is shared natally by some interesting folk including George Carlin, Fred Astaire, Shirley Temple, Sigmund Freud, Russia's Catherine the Great, and France's Teilhard de Chardin. Such intriguing company to keep!

At noon on May 4, 1954, powerful Pluto @22Leo32 rises (ASC 22Leo28) and is greatly strengthened by its Station Direct condition. Pluto brings along Pallas, the ethics asteroid. (His Chiron @28Cap39 is Station Retrograde upon US natal Pluto, a plutocracy pairing.) Some caution is advised since 22/23Leo is the 'foot in mouth' or 'worst foot forward' degree (A. Louis) so we may see something occur with future Senator Jones along those lines concerning the realms of plutonian leadership (Pluto in Leo).

Also rising at noon is the midpoint between Moon and Saturn, a signature of ambition and strategy (Tyl). Moon-Saturn = Pluto suggests potentials for 'rising in life by force, a need for self-reliance, the threat of loss' (attorneys must feel this constantly), and, added by yours truly: ambition (Moon-Saturn) for power (Pluto). Last night he achieved this goal, if it sticks until his swearing in to Congress in early January 2018.

Another revealing midpoint picture which stays in effect for the 24 hours of his birth date is Pluto-NN = Saturn suggesting an ability to read people (Munkasey), fighting against oppression (as in the 1963 church bombing case), and truculence and rebelliousness (Ebertin). To this picture I would add powerful connections (Pluto-NN) to authority figures (Saturn). And of course, law-abiding Saturn also represents lawmakers such as those on Capitol Hill, and Pluto-NN contains a "tiger by the tail" flavor.

Now let's close for now with the Prenatal Solar Eclipse Saros Series into which Doug Jones was born. This Solar Eclipse (his PE) manifested on January 5, 1954 @14Cap13 in the 10 North Saros series and falls between his natal Mars (6Cap30, as noted) and North Node (16Cap42), a pair denoting teamwork and encounters with police forces and/or the military. 10 North themes are: inhibiting or frustrating events arrive having to do with news, paperwork and/or a young person; tiredness and a drained feeling may be attached; it's best to work through any difficulties one at a time (paraphrasing Predictive Astrology, Brady).

When a Prenatal Eclipse manifests in Saturn-ruled Capricorn, sign of government, law, and business, karmic advancement can occur by way of dedication and hard work, often at the expense of personal pleasure and worldly prestige. There are karmic links to authority figures (the father, or others he respects, probably older than him) and there is a tendency to join professional organizations and to show interest in government affairs. Here is what some people call 'an old soul' whose mission in life is to teach or enlighten others yet it may be difficult to reach out as a teacher from a spiritual standpoint unless karmic (reaping what's been sown) spiritual lessons have been learned (paraphrasing Your Prenatal Eclipse, Rose Lineman).

The most recent occurrence of a 10 North Solar Eclipse was on February 7, 2008 @18Aquarius; the next will be on February 17, 2026 @29Aquarius, a critical-crisis 29th degree. Three days later (Feb 20) transit Saturn and Neptune will conjoin in Great Conjunction @00Ari45, the Cardinal Aries Point of world fame, recognition, and fortune.

Well, there's my incomplete-without-a-birth-time astro-view of Senator-elect Doug Jones. More of his planetary chart factors are worthy of noting, of course, so I hope you may set up a natal chart for him and see what you discover!

A very curious and difficult fellow was Cecil Rhodes, the "Diamond King" and empire builder. Born Cecil John Rhodes on July 5, 1853 at 7:30 pm GMT in Bishop's Stortford, England (RR: B), Rhodes was a double Cancer (Sun and Moon) with an early Leo Mercury, money maker Jupiter Rx @16Sag36 conjunct 12th cusp (Placidus system), and secretive Neptune @13Pis37 Rx.

Therefore, Cecil Rhodes is now in process of a posthumous Neptune Return (just like the bigoted Republican Party!) and Cecil's natal horoscope may be viewed here.

DC Horoscopes: Spring Equinoxes 2017 and 2018

For the sake of comparison, and since our nation has experienced a major change of administrations in the interim, here are horoscopes of Spring Equinox 2017 and Spring Equinox 2018. In Washington DC, the cosmic 'star of the show' that stands out in Angular fashion is 2017's Neptune in Pisces rising and 2018's Neptune in Pisces at Midheaven, the Goal Point, conjunct fixed star Achernar (crisis at the end of the river; risk of rapid endings). Astrological Neptune in Pisces denotes potentials for mysticism, secrets and leaks, scandals, pathological tendencies, paranoia, fanaticism, contagion, fraud, deceit, and/or spiritual inclinations and the Divine Source.

The Midpoint Pictures of Winter Solstice 2017

It's December 10, 2017 and Winter Solstice 2017 Approaches!

First, if you wish a gander here's my original post on the horoscope of Winter Solstice 2017 with the chart, as usual, set for our nation's capital.

Second, an astro-note about midpoint pictures: midpoints are the 'average' point in the Zodiac between two planets and/or points that combine the energies of both/all and then synthesizes them into a new, more powerful energy. These points of combined energy can then be activated by transiting planets, progressed planets or points, and so forth. If they are not activated or have no apex planet or point, they may remain dormant for the duration; or, only one potential of the picture may express--or, all of the potentials may express simultaneously or alternately for any given midpoint picture with the third planet or point being the transiting or progressed body. Often when I add midpoint pictures to a post, to cover such cases I'll include that, "any, all, or none may apply." Note that potentials may express positively and negatively at the same time.

The same cautions apply to the following midpoint pictures gleaned from the Winter Solstice 2017 Horoscope set for Washington DC, some of which are paraphrased, some quoted (see sources, below). The list begins with Sun and Moon as apex planets:

Sun-Moon = Pluto: biased attitudes or changed circumstances lead to critical phases of development or to separation from others; potential new perspectives in relationships; separation in order to start anew; souls torn by inner conflict; a critical time of development; focusing attention on personal goals; making startling new plans for life enhancement; drastic measures for self-protection; secrecy about the care or concern shown to family.

Mercury-Pluto = Sun (00Cap00): enhanced authority or prestige among people who control important information or news; use of force to locate or obtain information; championing an idea that prevails; the need for recognition; communication skill; a persuasive speaker.

Mercury-Pluto = Saturn: exposure to heavy or bitter attacks; a quarrelsome nature; irritability; skepticism; disappointment when releasing info which should be kept secret; added efficiency to the ruthless pursuit of the sources of data or rumors; unrelenting demands; insistence on point of view; driven by fear of failure; needing control.

Saturn-Neptune = Moon: activities which serve no real purpose and seem to come and go; hesitation about replacing that which no longer functions as intended; a low character; pessimism; depression; illness, chronic or otherwise; emotional drain; feeling inhibited.

Saturn-ASC = Moon: depression due to the environment; difficulty being accepted; ill humor and disagreeable moods; separation from females.

Sun-ASC = Moon: fruitful activity with others.

Moon-Jupiter = Venus: increasing value or monetary resources; harmony; pleasant relations.

Moon-Saturn = Pluto: repressed needs; the threat of loss; feeling isolated; rising in life by force and going one's way alone; the need for self-reliance; separation; delays and barriers to progress cause frustration; eliminating support for family or others; a strong desire to control or channel emotions.

Mars-Pluto = Mercury: desire to realize plans fanatically; using foul or abusive language to bring attention to yourself; techniques which transfer energy from others places; discussions or descriptions of powerful weapons of great destruction; battle noises; excessive nervous irritation.

Sun-Mercury = MC: ego awareness; successful communications; standing by one's convictions and speaking up; clarifying ideas and plans for accomplishing goals; clear communications that increase public status; business people and/or intellectual workers.

Mercury-Saturn = MC: wrapped up in one's own ideas; an urge to philosophize; winning through planning; mind over matter.

Saturn-MC = Venus: dryness in relationships; improvement in the job situation; renunciation; sadness or grief; reserve.

Al Franken Resigns Amid Misconduct Allegations - clip

December 7, 2017: Here's a brief commentary by The Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins on the resignation of Democratic Senator Al Franken along with a few remarks on Republicans Donald Trump and Roy Moore--one who should also resign and one who should never take a senate seat:

Personally, my wish is that Mr. Franken will return to comedy after his stint on Capitol Hill. Because, having learned a thing or two about his own out-of-bounds treatment of women, he could write some hilariously insightful jokes about Washington DC's political miscreants and the distressing antics of its G-ross O-ld P-erverts!

Trump to move US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem (Phaethon?)

Of Prophecy, Fate, Phaethon in Taurus, Israel, and Donald Trump

Dec 6, 2017: Today Mr. Trump announced the relocation of the American embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel to Jerusalem just in time to aid in the fulfillment of the Scriptural 70-year prophecy concerning Israel and its Holy City (see Daniel 9:24). It is reported that the embassy relocation and construction will take a few years to complete.

In a previous post, I published the May 14, 1948 4:00 pm EET chart of the State of Israel but today I'm posting the horoscope that Nicholas Campion says many Israeli astrologers use. It is set for 32 minutes later when Ben-Gurion stated that,"The State of Israel has arisen" (independence from Britain).

In the bi-wheel image, below, Israel's Solar Return 2018 planets (May 14, 2018 @3:59:21 pm EET Tel Aviv (since it's the natal location in 1948) is shown around the May 14, 1948 natal chart. All founding data from which the Solar Return chart issues is gleaned from Campion's The Book of World Horoscopes:

Please enlarge the image to read chart notes for as you see, Israel's natal 12th house Neptune @10Libra Rx rises in the Solar Return 2018 chart and natal Sun @23Tau41 is the engine leading a Locomotive pattern of planets in 1948 indicating ruthless achievement. Neptune rising suggests instability, deception, and/or potentials for fraud to occur yet Neptune also represents the Divine Source and this can relate spiritually to Biblical prophecy

A Locomotive pattern also shows up in the 2018 Return chart but it is lead by Jupiter @17Sco39 Rx. Another planetary pattern that appears in both charts is a Thor's Hammer (aka, Fist of God) which contain elements of fate or karma (reaping what's been sown). In 1948, the Hammer formed between the Pluto-NN square pointing toward natal Jupiter @27Sag38 Rx in 2nd house; in SR 2018, it's between the Saturn-ASC square pointing toward natal/Return Sun in 7th house of Partnerships.

We may wish to read the 1948 and 2018 Hammers as midpoint pictures: in 1948 the potential is for 'power attained through force with the help of others' which obviously came true. In 2018, the potential is for 'difficult conditions or circumstances' and/or 'separation' (Ebertin), spotlighting such conditions that have already been in effect for years now particularly for the Palestinian people.

Note that a natal or foundation chart for the state of Israel also applies to the same for Palestine). Also note that the August 21, 2017 Total Solar Eclipse 'hit' Israel's 1948 Mars (28Leo18)--and royal star Regulus (keyphrase: success if revenge is avoided). Yet so far, an endless round of revenge tragically characterizes Israel and Palestine since ancient times.

As for the timing of the 70-year prophecy related to 2018, note that there will be a New Moon on May 15, 2018 @24Tau36--within orb of Israel's natal Sun and denoting a new cycle of activity. Another curious factor in the SR 2018 chart is that one of the asteroids of fate, Phaethon (the Greek version of Icarus who flew too close to the Sun, crashed, and burned) is snugged between the Taurus Sun and Moon, however, in relation to the 70-year prophecy, Phaethon @11Tau02--about to make its own Return to Israel's natal Phaethon (16Tau23)--may be merely a minor detail.

And yet, is it a fated synchronicity that 3-mile wide asteroid Phaethon hurls extremely close to Earth just before Christmas 2017? A certain meteor shower peaks on December 13 with Phaethon traveling among the Geminids. A Super Moon (Nolle) veiled them from sight in 2016 but here are details on where, when, and how to see the 2017 Geminid Meteor Shower.

And where is Donald Trump's natal Phaethon, you may wonder. Born June 14, 1946, Mr. Trump's natal Phaethon is @23Tau02 conjunct his natal MC--conjunct Israel's natal Sun!

So if you look up and manage to spot Phaethon among the starry throng on December 13 or during the wee hours of December 14, tell him Donald Trump says Hello.
