Of late I've complained often about an active Uranus in Aries representing visionary Utopians as Reinhold Ebertin mentions in his book The Combination of Stellar Influences.
For the DOW's 500+-point plummet yesterday, the midpoint picture of Uranus in Aries at apex between Jupiter (@ '10 Taurus' = "A Red Cross Nurse" which on one level implies Rosicrucians) and nebulous Neptune (@ '1 Pisces' = "A Public Market"--our 'consumer economy' and the NYSE) was in force as its been during the 'debt-deal/default' theater we've just been treated to by Washington (ad nauseum.)
As you know, Jupiter with Neptune is the speculation/wastrel/inflation/grand scheme pair of planets, a perfect dynamic for a pie-in-the-sky illusion such as Utopia...
Jupiter/Neptune = Uranus: coming down to earth with a bump; sudden recognition of a difficult situation; imagination v reality (Ebertin.)
And of course, progressive, futuristic Uranus itself relates to Plato's Ideal which remains but a dream unless and until it finds Saturnian form (practicality; solidity; status quo) to pour into in order to manifest on earth, the physical plane.
The Form Returns...
On August 28, 2011, Saturn for the third time in this 28-year cycle returns to US natal Saturn's degree (14Lib48) which should be a resolution phase for issues of accountability, responsibility, and--as the US government is determined to enforce upon the have-nots rather than upon the rich who caused financial collapse--austerity measures.
Since Uranus has an approximate orbit of 84 years, the last time Uranus was in Aries, Herr Hitler rose to power. This is an important astrological tidbit to know as you consider James Corbett's overview of Utopia while thinking of all that is transpiring to gridlock the US government, lower the people's approval of it, and overthrow our democracy--what little we have left to overthrow as Uranus Rx prepares to hit Aries Point (00:00) again, and recross the IC (Homeland; Domestic Scene) of the US natal horoscope--Utopians in America...

Atlanta Ga after 1996 Olympics? Few if any gains
A Remembrance of Atlanta's 1996 Summer Olympic Games

Beware if your city or nation wants to host the Olympic Games because a pack of troubles run side by side with the expected glory and gains.
This morning NPR featured a report on the condition in which the 1996 Games left the city, people, and finances of Atlanta, Georgia. Of course Atlanta, (what for years I've called my home state's "cesspool of fires, murders, rapes, and sinkholes"--Scarlett O'Hara notwithstanding) really needed the clean-up made necessary by the whole world coming to 'sit a spell' with us on the front porch and all, but 15 years later, the after effects are quite a different story from what we were initially spun.
And of course, a sorry claim to fame: two people were killed and one-hundred-eleven injured in the bombing of Centennial Olympic Park on July 27, 1996 with Atlanta police and FBI arresting and holding the wrong man in a brazen attempt to keep scores of Atlanta's global visitors from leaving the Games en masse (though some understandably did, if memory serves.)
In which Solar Eclipse Series did the 1996 Olympics take place?, you ask.
The 16 South Series which occurred on April 17, 1996 @ '28 Aries'; 16S contains these flavors: 'issues of wasted energy or misdirected motivation especially when dealing with groups; sudden inspiration but no real action should be taken.' (Brady's Predictive Astrology .)
Uh-oh! Wasted energy? Not exactly stellar conditions for Olympic athletes, were they? Misdirected funds did pretty well though. The next manifestation of 16S: April 29, 2014 @ '9 Taurus'.
Yet in spite of everything, my personal experiences there in Summer 1996 weren't nearly as bad after I entered one of the downtown college's Art Exhibitions and was pleased that two of my cosmic drawings were accepted for the show, one of which won a Merit Award.
So here is my own walk down memory lane of the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta--my drawing Timeless Path, an image that, if I'm not careful, can plop me back into an Olympic Games mood when I'd much rather be following a higher path!
Turns out that benefits from hosting the 1996 Olympic Games weren't so timeless after all...

Pres. Obama turns 50: Chiron Returns but is it a Jubilee Year?
If you've never heard of the tradition of a declaring every 50 years a "Jubilee Year" for the sake of society, I'll direct you to Ray McGovern's article Obama On the Backs of the Poor of August 3, 2011.
'50' is a 5th harmonic number (multiple of 10 x 5 = 50) and has significance to numerologists and astrologers alike, most of whom immediately think of the Chiron Return because Chiron's orbit is approximately of 50 years' duration. This repeats its position by sign, degree, and house in the natal chart, and also reinforces its aspects to other natal planets, both the positive and the negative.
Virgo/Pisces = Victim/Savior Axis; in Pisces, Chiron is in Fall
Even though I've mentioned President Obama's Chiron Return here before, I want to do so again because of what's been going on in Washington DC politics and the victimization issues relating to cutting aid to the poor, elderly, veterans' benefits, education and school lunch programs, and slashing what Republicans call "entitlement programs" which ignores the fact that the programs are paid into for years through taxes--guess we shouldn't have trusted the US government to hold on to our money and dribble it back to us when needed. (Much of recent political rhetoric and actions reminds me of gangs of thieves trying to hide the fact that they've been guilty of stealing our money for years!)
What will happen when the Republicans selected for the 'Super Congress' turn cold shoulders to those in need is anyone's guess (as Rs seem wont to do: what's that oft-used 'Christian Right' political tactic again? Brother's keeper much?) But we know it won't be good and will interfere with our s l o w economic recovery, such as it is, for benefits checks tend to be spent and put back into the economy, as most reasonable people agree.
All six of the GOPers who will 'serve' on the 'Super Committee' (formed so that Congress once again can neglect its sworn duties along with the constitutional oversight function abandoned years ago)--all they have to do to collapse America into chaos is to refuse to compromise by November on the 'cuts' they must choose for the cleaver, and of course, they've already made it plain that tax increases on those who wouldn't miss the money is 'off the table.' So if the 12 of them can't agree in November 2011 on 'cuts', there's our nation's collapse in the making--unless the automatically 'triggered' cuts to the defense budget--said to be significant--holds their little war-mongering hearts in check.
Now I pray it doesn't play out this way for the common good of the American people but really now--given how the Republican--Tea Party operatives have played BHO like a fiddle so far, it's difficult for me to believe that Mr. Obama can possess even a mustard seed of faith that the un-rich among us will be able to celebrate a Jubilee Year by November. A sale on canned cat food may be more what corporate Republicans and their greedy billionaire backers have on the menu for many Americans whom they consider to be beneath them. (In the universal scheme of things, the poor are above the rich but Rs like to ignore Biblical precepts when it's convenient for their massive egos and political agenda.)
News Note: today it is reported that President Obama will take a "listening" tour of the Midwest by bus from August 15--17, 2011. Maybe he'll be soon be renaming it his Earful Tour. Tell 'im like it is, American Midwesterners!

As you know, a birthday always brings along a Solar Return horoscope because the Sun returns to the zodiacal position it held at birth, and a personal year begins. Mr. Obama's Solar Return 2011 isn't very impressive to me as far as reaching goals or attaining ego-warming successes but the lunar condition in the chart is a bit lighter and may indicate that he's handling things emotionally (coolly, with SR Moon in Libra) and that his life day-to-day is well cushioned by the White House bubble of affluence and isolation from harsher realities--his Earful Tour notwithstanding.
A well-aspected SR Moon may also indicate that a majority of the American people remain on his side since in Mundane Astrology, Moon = the public and the people--but also publicity.
If you haven't, you may wish to take a peek at the president's Solar Return 2011 chart along with his Secondary Full Moon of November 6, 2011 (both horoscopes shown.)
A Progressed Full Moon (which I abbreviate to 'Sec Full Moon' though many use 'SP'--it's a habit developed to distinguish between Minor and Tertiary Progressions) is a clear sign that a 28-to-30-year cycle of expansion into the world has come to a close and it's time for retraction of one's goals because a pinnacle has been reached. Life goes on, of course, but you know what the US has experienced since its own Sec Full Moon of December 24, 2008 @ 4Vir10...Number One is becoming Number Two, or Three as our nation necessarily retracts. And that Sec Full Moon was across the Victim/Savior axis of Virgo/Pisces, too.
Plus, if you're interested, here's what I wrote a while back about Mr. Obama's natal Chiron and his Chiron Return which includes the 5 dates (yes! his is a five-fer--thankfully, mine was only once) of his Chiron-to-Chiron conjunctions, the first two of which have already occurred. Chiron continues to be front and center for him (and by extension, for the US) into 2012 due to Chiron's penchant for retrogradation.
Water Grand Trines Seek Peace, Safety, and Privacy
Here's a post written on the occasion of Pres. Obama's 49th birthday last year. It focused on his Chiron in mystical Pisces, too, and included the Water Grand Trine of which his questing Chiron is an integral part.
Now in spite of how this post may sound, I'm wishing a Happy Birthday to President Barack Obama. He (and our nation) got a raw deal from his predecessor and his presidency now suffers (Pisces!) from opponents who consider him their enemy, cussedly call him un-American and foreign every chance they get, will do anything it takes to undermine his presidency, and accuse him of being a 'secret Muslim'. Plus--perhaps worst of all--he's a Democrat.
So after all that, plus the debt-deal fight just semi-completed without a US default, I think our 50-year-old President Obama deserves the largest slice of birthday cake his health-conscious wife will allow!

Keith Olbermann: "The Four Great Hypocrisies of the Debt Deal" (video link)
It's times like these that I wish Current TV would allow embedding of their videos but if there's a way to embed them, I haven't discovered it yet.

Plus, here's a standing question for you from an author whose novels exposed the horrid social conditions of his day, and who expressed himself much better on such topics than this gnat of a blogger ever could:

Yes. It is. Altogether. The power elite have proved it repeatedly and with verve.
But Mr. Sinclair's is not the version of a "Utopian dream" America is currently bedeviled by. We're yoked underneath the shadow side of a dream which, as everyone knows, is nothing but a nightmare that lurks behind those grinning political masks of Washington DC.
(Oh, and let's tell the president that the big banks who were 'bailed out' with taxpayer funds in 2008 are expected--by we-the-people, if not by him--to pay it all back with interest. We could definitely use the dough. No one ever seems to remind Mr. Obama that as US president, he is supposed to be our advocate, not theirs!)
Ah yes, I remember the glory days of 2008 when I kept harping here on SO'W about the transit of constricting Saturn to US natal Neptune in Virgo...Neptune, planet of dreams and aspirations, in Virgo, sign of Work, Health, and Discrimination. "Dreams made real"? Unfortunately not--unless you're one of the ruling elite class now robbing us blind once again while forcefully establishing your long-held 'dream' or 'vision' of a totalitarian New World Order.

In the chart you'll see that Jupiter is in Taurus--near where Mr. Moneybags is now--and rebellious Uranus is in early Aries (as now), signifying the radical Utopians forcing corporate-backed demands which will crash the US government while holding hostage US workers, veterans, the elderly, ill, disabled, poor, and disadvantaged children...the ones they think can't fight back.
Of course, many people are putting the "holding hostage" label upon current Debt Deal proceedings but that implies paying ransom for people you want back. Yet as we know, they don't want us back, they want us gone.
So here are the dates of both planets' returns to their Hoover 1929 degrees and you can see by the first one that the time period has already begun and points directly at the Debt Deal from Hades which Mr. Obama signed--privately--into law today.
Jupiter Return/s (7Tau38) of the Hoover Presidency:

Uranus Return/s (6Ari01) of the Hoover Presidency:
1. April 20, 2012 (just after Tax Day)

If Astrology serves, it looks to me as if the rest of Mr. Obama's presidency will be unfavorably compared to the irksome, financially disastrous presidency of Herbert Hoover more often, not less, than it's been before. And what did Mr. Hoover do? He didn't do!
But he did contract and restrict (Saturn) spending when he should have invested (Jupiter) in America the Beautiful on behalf of the American people to whom our nation belongs.

Of course, many people are putting the "holding hostage" label upon current Debt Deal proceedings but that implies paying ransom for people you want back. Yet as we know, they don't want us back, they want us gone.

Here's the latest rant from the Heritage Foundation website against "liberals" who cause all of America's problems, didn't you know?! Good thing Bush-Cheney ignored them those 8 years and shoved their neocon-warhawk agenda upon the nation.
You know the Heritage Foundation was incorporated on February 16, 1973 as a reaction against Richard Nixon's 'liberal consensus' tendencies and it's been a neo-conservative thorn in our national side ever since. One of its founders, Paul Weyrich, is the one who said that large voter turn-outs don't help Republicans win elections.
Perhaps that's because a majority of the American people would never vote GOP--against their own best interests--if the truth were told during political campaigns rather than facts being spun and hidden. (Glaringly against our best interests is the 'trigger' mechanism inserted into the 'debt deal' on the Senate's table today. All the GOP has to do is not agree to the 'cuts' list and Americans crash.)
Now few of us would vote Republican if everyone made it to US voting booths and were allowed to cast a ballot. The Weyrich ploy is behind the ongoing and current movement to disenfranchise certain groups of voters with photo ID requirements and other hoops now placed between American citizens and their right to vote for the political brigand of their choice (for even most of the 'good' politicians turn bad when mixed into the corrupt system such as we have.) Votes can, of course, be skewed by miscounts, funky voting machines, and other tiresome, previously un-American tactics employed by both parties but mainly by the success-at-all-costs Republlican Party.
Astro-note on the Senate's session today which began at 9:30 am edt: the trine between Jupiter and Pluto blesses the proceedings and the US natal Pluto/Chiron midpoint was rising and signifying the global banking cartel, powerful religious leaders, US and global plutocrats now collapsing our nation, and an extreme depletion of resources.
But not to fret! Jupiter in Taurus and Pluto in Capricorn are moving in and out of a privileged, futuristic trine these days so we can chillax--for plutocrats aren't the ones who will suffer 'extreme depletion of resources' because that's reserved for those pesky refrigerator-buying, microwave-using "poor" folks of America that we hear so much against and whom Democrats and Republicans are in process of legislating in order to further wound. Population control!
And Pentagon cuts? The Pentagon budget will still be able to grow with inflation so it's part of the ruse, people!
Personally I prefer the ideas of Van Jones and his Rebuild the Dream movement because I do not want neocons back in total control of Washington DC, much less running America off a cliff as they continue the Bush-Cheney trajectory along the path of a New World Order meant to dominate the entire globe.

Well, the Senate's action at noon will occur with Senator Bernie Sanders voting 'no' because the bill is, as he says, "grossly unfair". Agreed.

America's natal Ceres @ '9 Pisces' (security needs and issues; food/grain supplies and supply chains, etc) which has, since July 4, 1776, had the plutocrats' Pluto/Chiron midpoint conjoining it with its tinges of 'primal violence (which Washington expects when the American people realize the full gist of what's been done against us and hit the streets--peacefully, please!), corporatism, fascism, racism, and other -isms of oppression...basically the "Haves" in the Haves v Have-Nots equation.
Imho, the only planetary pair that describes the elitist US Senate better than Pluto/Chiron would have to be Jupiter/Pluto!
Yet throughout the debt-deal drama in DC, the words--or threat--of Senator Barry Goldwater (Jan 1, 1909; Sun Cap-Moon Tau) keep running through my common-good noggin:
"A government that is big enough to give you all you want is big enough to take it all away."
Even refrigerators and microwaves, it seems--and the food that should go in them.

Horoscopes: Obama's Solar Return 2011 w his Sec Full Moon
The Solar Return 2011 Horoscope of President Barack Obama w Sec Full Moon

President Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961 at 7:24 pm AHST and the Sun returns to natal position this year on August 5, 2011 at 3:07:01 am edt; the Solar Return chart (SR) below, is relocated to the White House.

Solar Return charts describe an entire year until one's next birthday and may be divided into quarterly sections for timing purposes with the Angular houses representing the first 4 months of the solar year (counting from the date of the return chart, here August 5th), the succedent houses (2,5,8,11) showing the next 4 months (here December 2011, January, February, March 2012), and the cadent houses (3,6,9,12) indicating conditions in the last 4 months before his August 2012 birthday.
As you know, there are many considerations when reading a SR chart such as:
President Obama's SR 2011 hemispheric emphases: 5/5 for public and private sectors (balanced), and the edge is slightly on the Self-Directed side with 6 planets in the eastern hemisphere, 4 on the western side of Others.

There may be a tragic deception or illusion (Sun/Neptune = Pluto) affecting society--one potential by then, is that more info will have come out concerning the current 'debt-default deal' and its dire affects on our weakened economy and possible consequences which harm the ill, weak, young, and elderly. We'll see since it's early days on that and for the non-constitutional 'Super Congress' they've created to finagle the bill's ultimate provisions.

A "Super Congress" will Kill the US Congress (video)
Planning now to write a post on the November 2011 Solar Eclipse which unfortunately for those of us who wish to see America continue as a sovereign nation, relates to the topic Mr. Jones discusses in this 8-minute video of his show.

US economy slowed, Congress keeps grandstanding
Now here's an example of why a new poll shows the American public's approval rate of the 'work' Congress is doing is down to 6%. Makes me wonder what that 6% sees that the rest of us don't!

The story above shows some of the effects of the Republican Party--Tea Party alliance (such as it is) yet I suspect that the Freemasons who dressed as Indians and tossed pounds of tea into Boston Harbor wouldn't be as proud of what the current crop of slef-interested varmints are doing in 2011 as they might imagine in those wildest visionary dreams of theirs.

President Obama will speak soon, says C-SPAN, from the White House (aka, the White Lodge) and from underneath a portrait of George Washington, one of our many Freemason presidents. I'll listen to what he has to say but only hope he'll manage to straighten out the sorry state that Washington politicians have brought upon the American people who have already sacrificed so much.
Mr. Obama begins speaking at 10:36 am edt for those who wish to set up a horoscope...first word: bipartisan. He wants a plan he can sign by Tuesday so, Good luck to us all.
