Neptune in Pisces and the FOX News Network

Neptune, Pisces, FOX News, and Pod Caster Bill O'Reilly

Recently it would be difficult for those who follow US news at all to miss what's been going on over at FOX News: sexual harassment allegations and lawsuits, firings of on-air personalities and head harasser Roger Ailes, Donald Trump's slavish adoration of Fox and Friends anchors , and so on.

Typing as an Astrology novice, it seems curious to me how transit Neptune has floated on and around the 14th degree of the planet's own sign of Pisces with both planet and sign associated with the media, the masses, the Collective, fakery, deception, corruption, uncertainty, loss, theft, veils, obfuscation, webs and networks. And particularly since 14 Pisces is the degree with the Sabian Symbol of "A Lady in Fox Fur."

So perhaps a quote from Marc Edmund Jones may enlighten us on the meaning of this word picture which is one degree from fixed star Achernar and its keywords: 'crisis' (at the end of the river) and 'risk of rapid endings'. For that is what news reader Bill O'Reilly came up against recently via the sudden ending of his career on FOX News after major advertisers withdrew their support of his program because of O'Reilly's legal problems with women.

As usual, I won't add where I think several points in this description of 14 Pisces fits the network, Mr. O'Reilly, and the situation at hand because SO'W readers are perfectly capable of figuring this out for themselves--and they may disagree with my opinion if they so desire--including all you ladies in FOX fur!

In related news O'Reilly replacement Tucker Carlson says that What Bill O'Reilly Did Wasn't Easy (an unfortunate way to put it!) And in defiance of Neptune's usual deceptive practices, the now-pod-casting Mr. O'Reilly vows that the truth will come out and although the time frame for such a revelation is uncertain, the truth is awaited.

The Left and The Right - Reversed?

In the political spectrum, it's well known that liberals are known as the "left" and that conservatives are known as the "right". However, the left brain is associated with conservative traits, and the right brain is associated with liberal traits, as this link and a picture will show:

As the picture shows, the left brain is associated with these things: order, logic, math, analytics, detail, and linear thinking. The right brain is associated with art, colors, music, the big picture, randomness, emotion, and creativity. The vast majority of the things listed as right brain characteristics are things that are ruled by Neptune, and as my blog Left Wing Astrology shows, people with their Venus (economics) and Moon (culture) in aspect to Neptune but not overcome by the North Node lean to the left.

For the left brain, the things listed under it are things associated with the Earth signs, which have a reputation as being the most conservative in astrology (Venus rules Taurus, an Earth sign). Some people divide the halves of the Zodiac as the left hemisphere, but if that was the case, the sign of Pisces, which is associated with the majority of the right brain characteristics, would be associated with the left brain, as it's the 12th sign of the zodiac, and Virgo, which many of the left brain characteristics are associated with, would be associated with the right brain, as it's the 6th sign of the zodiac. That wouldn't make sense.

With this knowledge available, is what we call the "left" actually the "right", and vice versa? Maybe. The liberal people I know fall heavily into the right brain characteristics, and the conservative people I know fall heavily into the right brain characteristics. This is why most celebrities lean to the "left" as actors/actresses and musicians are very creative people, and why Libertarians are associated with the "right", as they tend to base their lifestyles around logic and self sufficiency, which are left brain characteristics. This left and right brain divide also supports something I've noticed in person, which is that left brain conservatives and Libertarians tend to be much more rigid than their right brain liberal counterparts, who tend to be much more open minded and flexible in person.

As for the research on my blog, I'll still label liberal astrological impulses as "leftist" and conservative astrological impulses as "rightist" in order to prevent confusion among readers, but this knowledge is something that should really be considered, as it would make a whole lot of sense to label liberals as the "right" and conservatives as the "left", based on left and right brain characteristics.

Summer Solstice 2017: Saturn at Midheaven

) With old man Saturn at the top of the chart, this partially describes the summer season of 2017 in America. Neptune in Pisces rises in the chart providing instability, discontent, and a cover-up atmosphere to the proceedings. And of course, the Saturn-Neptune pairing always conjures the ghost of America's invisible (Neptune) government (Saturn) or what is called today the *Deep State composed of a faction of global imperialists who never met a war they didn't promote and profit from. Add other Saturn-Neptune indicators such as cuts for social safety net programs and sanctuary cities and the guns vs butter struggle is on.

A Saturn Summer with More Saturn

In Astrology archetypal Saturn denotes conservative politicians, executives, administrators, lawmakers, organizers, and other ambitious people--here visible at the Public Reputation and Career Point (MC) of the chart. Of course, seniors are also signified by old man Saturn which hints of the social safety net programs that are on Washington's political menu and the restriction and denial that conservatives have been determined to enforce since the days that FDR's New Deal began.

(How dare tax monies paid by We The People be used to fund their own needs? What a notion!)

Now as you know, in transit Saturn now tarries via retrograde in Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius, sign of The Seeker, traveler, foreigner, refugee and/or emigrant, and will enter its own sign of Capricorn in mid-December 2017 once the planet passes one of the Cardinal World Points of manifestation (00Cap00). Correct me if memory isn't serving here, but Saturn in Capricorn is not a good placement for the markets. And in light of recent political events, it suggests even more use of strong-arm tactics against We the People through actions of the Trump administration, the Justice Department, the EPA, our nation's Legal System, loosening of protective regulations and laws, and those klannish good ole boy police departments.

Now Saturn conjunct MC is a negative indicator if other planets afflict the duo but other than separating oppositions from Sun and Mercury which cause frustration, this is not so much the case for here we have Saturn in a Fire Grand Trine if we use the 6th house North Node in Leo as one of the triangle's points. This suggests a Saturnian person with leadership ability but one who is totally self-absorbed and demanding that his wants and needs be met immediately--an egotist, we could say. Wonder who this could be shown in the chart at the pinnacle of his career (MC)? Attention, approval, appreciation, applause, and reward are musts for this Saturn! And ixnay on accountability please! Never mind that Saturn only rewards such things as diligence, maturity, authenticity, and honesty, all of which may be problems for most of the political class, both here and abroad.

Meanwhile, the summer's trines to Saturn from radical activist Uranus (3S42) and the North Node (1A45; public contact/publicity/ future direction) support conservative Saturn in what is perhaps a closed circuit of energy denoted by the Fire Grand Trine but if not, these are definitely three trines of beneficial energies. The fact that both trines are separating (waning) in this chart may or may not be especially significant (and are unconscious) since transit Saturn will turn Direct on August 25th, shifting energies in more ways than one.

While stationing, planets gain strength, and Saturn's Direct Station in August hits directly upon Mr. Trump's natal Moon (21Sag) and South Node while opposing his natal Sun-North Node conjunction which suggests that his approval rating continues to be lukewarm and his work (Saturn) may lack all the beneficial rewards he demands. Health issues, relationships, and family matters (natal Moon) remain in the Saturnian spotlight as well, plus, transit Saturn simultaneously triggers the 'sapphire star' Ras Alhague with its health-and-healing connotations and other less desirable implications.

In the Summer Solstice chart, Saturn-ruled Capricorn falls upon the 11th cusp affecting Groups, Associations, Hopes and Wishes. The planet's restrictive, delaying energies bounce across the Cancer-Capricorn polarity into the 5th house of Risk-Taking, Gambling, Children, and other Creative Pursuits this summer so for those who follow the astrological effects upon the escapades and political notions of our groper-in-chief, the Summer Solstice 2017 Horoscope is a handy chart to watch especially since Gemini Mr. Trump in the Oval Office is playing the stand-in representative on the world stage (MC) for America herself.

Both 4 North and 4 South manifested in the years 1912, 1930, 1948, 1966, 1984, 2002, (2020), and next in 2038. Historical events during those previous years provide clues as to the upcoming events and conditions of Year 2020.

Seeding at NATO Summit May 2017: Trump to Attend

Earlier during his White House tenure it was announced that Donald Trump would attend this year's NATO summit on May 25th in Brussels, Belgium. The summit is scheduled for May 24th to 25th so let's check the cosmic atmosphere of the 2017 summit via Moon and Sun, shall we?

The method I prefer when there are multiple dates to consider is to begin at 12:00 am Local Time for the date and location, then use an end time of 11:59 pm on the final date and location. This covers any possible after-event schmoozing by various attendees or perhaps late-night behind the scenes deals. In the case of NATO summit 2017, the Sun is in Mercury-ruled Gemini, good for communications, agreements, negotiations, compacts, news, and other messages, and the Moon is in Taurus on May 24th, then shifts into Gemini, forming a New Moon @4Gem46 as she floats. This denotes a time when seeds are planted for future harvest. In Brussels, the New Moon perfects at 9:44:24 pm CEDT and the political duo of Mercury and Mars will also be in Gemini.

New Moon May 2017: "5 Gemini" = "A Radical Magazine Displays a Sensational Front Page."

So we know that this year's summit will be held during a Dark of the Moon period (3 days prior to a New Moon) when shady dealings are done and are (they hope) kept hidden in shadows from public view, at least until plans can be implemented. Of course, in Mundane Astrology, the Moon signifies publicity, public relations, and the public itself. However, a Gemini Moon tends to be chatty and suggests ups and downs (moodiness that may include despondency) so we'll see how close to the vest the meetings' details are kept or leaked. After all, radical magazines must have sensational front pages! No word on whether attendees should bring along their consciences over the results of actions taken. As with all 'global elite' meetings, my feeling is that they are advised to leave consciences at home, if they possess any.

And since Mr. Trump is a Sun Gemini with North Node and Uranus in Gemini he should feel quite within his Mercurial element with the Gemini New Moon and the darkened secretiveness of the proceedings particularly now that he has repudiated his own previous critique of NATO as being "obsolete" and not paying their fair share (his Stationary Direct Jupiter in Libra in natal 2nd house of Money and Values talking: "that's not fair!"). And perhaps you remember that Mr. Trump announced his presidential campaign in June 2015 under the influence of a Mercurial Gemini New Moon!

Cosmic Atmosphere for May 24 and 25, 2017

May 24, 2017 Sun Gemini-Moon Taurus, an Air-Earth blend of the rational, objective, and practical idealist. This combination of energies suggests an entrepreneurial spirit (such as that possessed by you-know-who) and a desire to pursue bright ideas. Turning ideas into reality is its specialty and factual evaluations are a must. However, a certain midpoint picture in effect during the summit gives pause on that score: Mercury-Pluto = Neptune (which now veils US Progressed Sun in Pisces = POTUS) which hints at such potentials as inefficient research, falsified data or documents, the use of deception, and/or the concealment of information in that 'knowledge is power' kind of way.

Sun Gemini-Moon Taurus is the natal blend of spy and author Ian Fleming and of railway tycoon Cornelius Vanderbilt whose revealing quote informs us that, "What do I care about the law? Hain't I got the power?" Such an attitude some might apply to Mr. Trump as well and, born with an indiscreet, fact-distorting Mercury-Neptune square of misguided perceptions, he may turn out to be one source of leaks from the 2017 summit!

May 25, 2017 Sun Gemini-Moon Gemini, a double Air combination of a childlike yet natural communicator full of ideas and political schemes. Archetypes of this blend include the juggler, actor, thinker, planner, circus trapeze artist, and mimic. Mercurial to its toes and often charming, emotions are not its strong suit nor is looking under surfaces where darker motives reside. Still, this blend loves to meet new people who can be thrilled at its performances. We can expect that the Gemini Mr. Trump (if he actually does attend on May 25th) will be cheery and charming at the summit as long as he's the most famous person in the room. If he isn't most famous, he and his traveling Sagittarian Moon will not attend.

As you see, Venus rules both charts via Libra rising. At the May 10th Full Moon (lower left on the dual chart), Venus applies only once: an opposition to Jupiter Rx denoting a period of extravagance, overindulgence, empty posturing, and gaudiness, plus, diplomatic gestures that are likely to fail. Jupiter again is the lead of a Locomotive shape in his many guises as the General, the CEO, the guru or priest, the broadcaster (or tweeter?), the thespian, the banker or financier...the list is varied with expansive Jupiter (which turns Direct on June 9th @13Lib12).

Venus @7Ari11 in 6th house of Military, Police, Civil Service, Work, Health, and Daily Rounds) also rules the 8th house of Corporatism, Credit, Debt, Insurance, Legacies, Shared Resources, the Occult, and Transformation (including Death) so all, any, or none of these areas may be affected including the 2nd house of the National Treasury with the Full Moon @20Sco24 posited there and denoting fluctuations and changes in resources and valuations. Of course, the Taurus-Scorpio axis includes financial issues all on its own and a Full Moon relates to a culmination or fulfillment of some kind--certainly an awareness or the typical uncovering that the spotlight of a Full Moon can bring. For as you know, lunations may act like eclipses and planet Uranus--revealing secrets and hidden matters no matter how inconvenient. In addition, this Full Moon chart shows the US natal Mercury-Pluto opposition on the MC-IC axis which suggests our usual surveillance concerns, spying, leaks, hacks, revelations, and other events.

New Moon @4Gemini46 May 25, 2017

Then three days after America's 2017 Mars Return (21Gem22; May 22nd) on May 25th comes a New Moon with the three days leading up to the lunation the 'dark of the Moon' phase when things tend to go bump in the night, or at least, in the shadows. In DC this New Moon falls at the end of the 8th house suggesting a new cycle of activity in 8th house matters (listed, above). The New Moon's Sabian Symbol is penned upon the chart (upper right) and its word picture ("A Radical Magazine...") seems to hint at certain publications such as Breitbart with sensationalism in the lunar mix (Moon = publicity, the public, public relations) especially since Moon-ruled Cancer is on the MC and rules the 10th house of Public Reputation in both charts), or perhaps pulp publications such as The Enquirer are spotlighted. The question is: what will be the 'radical' topic?

Now in the New Moon horoscope, chart ruler Venus applies in major aspect twice: 1. trine status quo Saturn Rx (@25Sag58 in 3rd house of Communications, Short Journeys, and Primary Education); and 2. conjunct Uranus, America's planet of war, and of Utopian visions, chaos, and disruption. Note that quirky Uranus is also the predictably unpredictable Mr. Trump's oriental planet.

1. Venus trine Saturn denotes a period of success in such realms as legal matters, diplomacy, and alliances; promotions that provide greater authority may be the reward along with improvement in relationships with those who are more mature and responsible. 2. Venus conjunct Uranus indicates the forming of unusual or non-traditional partnerships via unique methods that are employed for the achievement of common goals--though separations may also occur. Plus, with Venus-Uranus contacts, wasteful or eccentric spending habits cannot be ruled out which supports the extravagance shown by Venus in the May 10th Full Moon horoscope. One can't help but think of Melania Trump, her husband, or both.

Yes, money planet Venus in adventurous Aries loves change and variety but hopefully the extravagant Mr. Trump's expensive vacation habits, Melania's and Donald's out-of-DC security expenses, and the Trump administration's bombing excursions won't plunk America and our National Treasury into the alms house of debtor nations before we can 'get a grip'. And yet it isn't as if the American people can depend upon our dysfunctional and highly partisan Congress to reign in excessive spending by a Republican president, now can we?

Unless 2017's US Mars Return on May 22nd, which indicates limits to activities and adventurism via transit Saturn's off-and-on opposition to our nation's warring Mars, denotes the traditional mission of congressional fiscal oversight!

Cosmic Flavors and Images of April 15 and 16, 2017

These days at Stars Over Washington my schedule is limited so I prefer writing about wider issues and broader cosmic influences such as Solstices, major planetary conjunctions, inaugurations, and other political and astrological concerns and events. But considering recent world events involving the US (unpredictable leader drops the MOAB on Afghanistan tunnels), North Korea (unpredictable leader threatens another missile launch), China, Russia, plus, other concerns, here's a bit about the cosmic flavors of this weekend, Saturday April 15th through Sunday the 16th.

This weekend the (Tropical) Sun is in Mars-ruled Aries and the Moon floats through Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius into Saturn-ruled Capricorn, sign of government, law, and business--plus, Luna triggers the Cardinal World Point of 00Cap00 as she floats so a consideration of the weekend's Sun-Moon blend just could be illuminating, don't you think?

In Today's News: The US Military Defends Its Use of 'The Mother of All Bombs" (MOAB).

April 15 (and April 14, today): Sun Aries-Moon Sagittarius is a double Fire blend of volatility, brash aggression, passion, and 'grandiose philosophizing' with a self-centered mentality that is little concerned with the feelings of others. What double Fire is sensitive to are the hidden opportunities in every situation. And to Sun Aries-Moon Sag add impatience with limitations, outspokenness, and adventurism. High energy and vitality also characterize this combination but leaning only on intuition and hunches can lead to instability, even chaos. This blend denotes a natural leader with a mix of risk-taking and caution when problem solving is approached.

The Noble Family Tree of Justice Neil Gorsuch

Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch Descends from English Kings

Yes, many Americans have royal heritage although they may not be aware of it.

Well, recently in my family research, I ran across a digitized book about early American immigrants who had Plantagenet Ancestry and found a tiny handful of my own family surnames including some spot-on early settlers (exs: William Farrar who founded Farrar's Island, VA and Kent-born Col. William Claiborne, surveyor of Jamestown Colony and founder of Kent Island, MD) on the list who sailed to Colonial Virginia and Maryland with royal lineages tucked away in their back pockets.

Then, thinking I had never heard the name 'Gorsuch' until now-Justice Neil Gorsuch hit the news cycle, a surprise awaited me for on the Plantagenet list of kingly descendants is Anne Lovelace Gorsuch who immigrated from England to America as a widow with children. (Anne's father was Sir William Lovelace, Knight). Wondering how many branches of the Gorsuch tree there can be, I searched and discovered that, yes, Justice Neil Gorsuch is indeed descended from immigrant Anne Lovelace Gorsuch and her husband, the Reverend John Gorsuch. You may climb their family tree if you dare.

And since Justice Neil Gorsuch will be 'with us' on the SCOTUS bench for decades, if you're curious enough about this illustrious family of London merchants and attorneys-at-law (and one, John of Baltimore, Maryland, was a labor arbitrator!) and would appreciate a fuller accounting of them, here's a JSTOR link which takes you way back to Bishopsgate Ward, London, England, Northumberland, and beyond. So now I must wonder if Anne Lovelace Gorsuch (circa 1610--1652) is related to that particular bunch of Lovelaces in some way. After all, how many Lovelace branches could there possibly be?

An Unaspected Saturn in a Natal Chart Can Signify Lack of Conscience

Perhaps you noticed the attitude of then-Judge Gorsuch during his Supreme Court confirmation hearings when questioned about the arrogant pro-corporate decision against the "frozen trucker" whose life was in danger if he followed company rules (instead of his own common sense and natural sense of self-preservation).

For an overview of the natal horoscope of SCOTUS Justice Neil Gorsuch (born August 29, 1967 Denver, Colorado, no birth hour known), visit Solaris Astrology where the unaspected Saturn of Justice Gorsuch is well noted along with other chart factors. Now my plan to write about his natal Saturn is unnecessary so let's move on to other chart factors such as his Prenatal Solar Eclipse Saros Series, noted below. Actually, his natal chart is quite complex with its Mars-Neptune conjunction in Scorpio and an out-of-bounds Moon, which denotes a faulty relationship with Mother especially when the Moon is the only OOBs planet (as it is).

And I must add that his unaspected Saturn is further spotlighted as lead planet of a Locomotive shape which indicates success and executive ability and though his Saturn is retrograde (suggesting a weak, ineffectual, or absent Father) in Mars-ruled Aries, it denotes one with serious ambitions, endurance, self-restraint, diligence, self-will, and a desire to rule over others (Ebertin).

Adding to the implications of his unaspected Saturn with its 'lack of conscience' flavor is the Mars-Neptune duo (in the sign of Big Business!) indicating one who acts (Mars) but is unwilling to take responsibility for the consequences of his actions. Seeing the burden of guilt is often difficult for Mars-Neptune conjunction folk who tend to ignore reality and the feelings of others when they assert themselves and offer their opinions (ruh-roh!). And although subterfuge may be resorted to when attempting to game the system (as congressional Republicans helped him do), pretense must soon be replaced by genuine skills in order to retain one's position. However, since SCOTUS Justice is a lifetime appointment, his tenure is 'safe' but may continue to be controversial at best.

Additionally, natal Venus is retrograde in Virgo which shows a desire for moral purity so he may want to include his own conscience when rendering legal decisions and the consequences of those decisions upon his fellow man and woman if he's all about that!

A Mercurial Sun Virgo-Moon Gemini Personality Blend

Now since the Moon remained in chatty Gemini for the 24 hours of August 29, 1967, we can say that Justice Gorsuch is an Earth-Air Sun Virgo-Moon Gemini personality. A studious child, this blend later on can become dry as dust and one thinks of dusty old law books on a shelf!

On his own, Sun in Virgo is a tidy placement which can cause dissension or enmity due to a tendency to criticize and find fault. Yet a methodical mind is indicated along with analytical ability and close attention to detail. Of course, Virgo is the sign of Work and with his Leo Jupiter oriental (last to rise before the Sun), Justice Gorsuch prefers a measure of spontaneity within his work environment. And with the ruler of his Sun, Mercury, in its own sign of Virgo, attention to detail and other practical Virgo qualities are emphasized. However, the critical function also comes along with this fretsome placement and he may have, or may develop, a nervous tummy.

On her own, Moon in Gemini identifies him as having vivid powers of expression (which I have yet to notice--have you?), multiple interests, and quick mood changes with a potential for superficiality or even emotional duplicity.

Together, the Sun Virgo-Moon Gemini blend describes the Justice as a man of refined tastes, a worker and worrier, and one who may consider himself an authority on a topic just by imagining himself to be one. Steam-lined efficiency is a primary goal for most areas of his life yet he can be playful as well, thanks to the Gemini influence. Also relished are opportunities for 'shrewd advancement'.

A pragmatic man, Justice Gorsuch has a flair for communication and presentation which we will surely discover as he writes his (pro-corporate) SCOTUS decisions. Whether conscience will be involved is another matter but at this early date in his SCOTUS career (which begins tomorrow!), it doesn't seem to be the case--and his corporate backers and litigants should feel quite 'safe' from the needs and issues of We The People.

Neil Gorsuch's Prenatal Solar Eclipse in the 8 North Saros Series

Prior to his late August birth, a Solar Eclipse manifested on May 9, 1967 @18Tau17. The 8 North series contains themes of prophetic dreams, visions, hunches, and insights from the unconscious and last manifested in 2003 @9Gemini (conjunct US natal Uranus, our war planet). Its next occurrence will be in 2021 @20Gemini which conjoins (eclipses) US natal Mars and this adds to my own hunch of troubles to come.

Well, that's my take on the natal planets of freshly-minted Justice Neil Gorsuch who is intended to be a clone of the departed Justice Antonin Scalia. As I type there are undoubtedly multiple analyses of his natal chart sprouting up around the interwebs as his Supreme Court tenure begins and proceeds to astonish us all. And hopefully his correct birth time will eventually surface which would make astrologers' work on his natal chart more accurate!
