Speaking of Orwell's predictive novel 1984, eclipse themes provide background vibrations that can describe on one or more levels the time span or event in focus and there were 5 eclipses that year: 3 lunar and 2 Solar Eclipses.

The first Solar Eclipse of 1984 (a 'Reagan year') manifested @9Gemini conjunct US natal Uranus, the planet of revolution, revolt, uprisings, and anarchy and is intimately connected with America's cycle of going to war. These days it's easy to find mentions of America's dynamic natal Mercury/Pluto opposition (July 4, 1776) wherever you go (iPhone/iPad tracking; GPS) or whatever you read (emails/online articles/feeds) so I'm passing on to you a link to Wendy McElroy's article which strikes just such a Big Brother, Mercury/Pluto tone so familiar to life in America.

Well, the 'Seer of Monticello'--Thomas Jefferson--is known, among other titles, as the Father of American Cryptography thanks to his lifelong interest in codes and ciphers. In fact, a Rosicrucian decoder was found amongst his effects after his demise--there was a Rosicrucian colony around Philadelphia in those days. (Founding Fathers, Secret Societies, Robert Hieronymous with Laura Cortner.)

Also mentioned in the article are the legal changes made during the Bill Clinton administration which had the May 6, 1999 court decision that 'restriction of encryption' violated the First Amendment (because it does) reversed before 1999 ended. Obviously, this end-run around our right to privacy and the First Amendment was very important to the Clintonite globalists--for then-present and all future use.

Then on September 30, 1999, in a blow against the First Amendment, the Clinton Gang somehow 'convinced' the court (9th Circuit Court of Appeals) to reverse the decision thus weakening a citizen's right and ability to protect himself or herself from unlawful intrusion by the US government with its longstanding Mercury/Pluto spying tendencies.

Here are some basic expression potentials of the two planets and I'm certain you can think of more:

Massey Energy name change fools few as Romney enters race in N. H.

That was quite a performance yesterday to mark Massey Energy's name change to Alpha Resources though those who have experience with the safety-challenged company don't seem to be fooled by the obvious public relations ploy. But Massey shareholders decreed!

Meanwhile, in an apparently unrelated event, Mitt Romney (former management consultant advising corporations on how to 'reinvent themselves') will announce today (12:30 pm edt) that he is indeed a candidate for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

Yet so far, rebranding himself on the health care reform issue (his program as governor being the model for Obama's reform bill) hasn't gained much traction with the public but we'll see how Romney manages the presto change-o as the 2012 campaign drags on. Especially since his past corporate work experience includes changing bad names into 'good' (aka, new) in order to hide true and already demonstrated characters.

Here's a SO'W post concerning Mr. Romney's activities during the 2008 presidential campaign when he attempted to reinvent the Democratic Party as the party of Big Brother! It seemed to me then that the shoe fit the other (Republican) foot a little more comfortably, though in 2011 it's admittedly become awfully hard to tell the difference. With our Rs v Ds, it's become a sad case of pot calling kettle black.

Perhaps that's partially because Washington's Big Brother oligarchs are all just power elite rulers of a feather when propagandistic push comes to real world water boarding.

Still, one understands Mitt Romney's public relations talent which is natural: he was born with a very close Moon conjunct Jupiter aspect in Scorpio, sign of big business and corporations. Natal Sun 22 Pisces conjoins Cupido (The Family; The Syndicate; Corporatism) and squares Uranus which makes him an unpredictable, arrogant fellow with a big ego.

So if the background influence of one's Secondary Progressed Moon phase is any indication of 'time of life' - and what's it's time for (and I believe it is), Mitt Romney will not be in a good phase for being elected US president in 2012. Leaving home for Washingotn may be a possibility, too. Also, shady deals may be made during this Dark of the Moon phase (perfect for a White House-White Lodge tenure, I know.)

But generally, it is not a phase of new beginnings unless someone else flakes out first.

Hmmm...wonder if Mitt Romney could be more easily selected as US president next time around?

With the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act now signed by President Obama (while still vacationing in Hawaii), the 112th Congress scheduled to open January 5, 2011 at noon est, and myself just returned from a holiday family spree (if you can call the Atlanta area a 'spree' zone), Stars Over Washington's Julian Assange/treason poll is now closed.

Out of a total of 131 responders, 77% (101) voted, "No! He's doing the world a favor" to the question of whether Mr. Assange (who, though not an American citizen, has greatly embarrassed the US government) should be tried for treason.

1% (14) answered a moderate "Possibly, depending" while another 1% replied, "Absolutely!"

What might this unofficial poll attest to, if anything? Possibilities include:

That folks who read this sort of populist blog prefer that the US government follow its own laws (and not rewrite them for special occasions or in an attempt to save face), get over thinking it can lord it over anyone anywhere, and busy itself learning how to successfully keep official secrets closer to Big Brother's chest than heretofore.

Now if you, dear reader, are one of the 77% who voted No! to a treason prosecution yet don't agree with my personal assessment of the situation, please leave a comment here, if you wish to weigh in.

Oh, and I can think of at least one more very good reason - as taught by history - for the US government not to prosecute the message bearer who dares reveal the truth:

This reflects a part of Mercury the Messenger's retrograde period which began on Dec 10, 2010 @ 5Cap+ with the speedy one's Direct Station on Dec 30, 2010 @ 19Sag35.

As far as conjunctions or oppositions to Julian Assange's natal chart (July 3, 1971 Townsville, AU 4:57 pm AEST), the Winter Solstice 2010's Mercury Return falls in his natal 2nd house opposite n Venus 25Gem25 (dualistic and sometimes duplicitous Gemini, sign of communications, and The Good News.) Yet the house position may be only speculative, based on whether his birth hour is accurate; it apparently has been snagged from his official birth records. (Kudos to whoever snagged it!)

Mercury applies in its Rx condition to a square with the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Pisces. Merc SQs Jupiter (0A05, a very tight orb) while separating from its SQ with Uranus (1S22); the Messenger also moves away from conjunction with the Sun 00Cap00, both in 6th house of Work, Health, Service (Armed Forces) - the President has signed the 9/11 Health and Compensation bill, as noted above, and leaks have concerned the US military services and the US State Department of spies...er, diplomats. Mercury = the signing and the bill itself.

Merc SQ Jupiter shows discrepancies between beliefs and the truth with impulsivity in judgments which are based on insufficient information; accepting responsibility for one's actions is difficult; the phrase 'pathological liar' is a potential.

Now you've probably noticed that Mercury 25Sag15 inconjuncts US natal Mercury, an aspect of great strain, for watery Cancer and fiery Sagittarius have little natural sympathy for one another. The inconjunct (or, quincunx; 150 degr) suggests the dynamics of Mars which brings in the god of war's typical aggression, aggravations, and threats and yet compromise is the only solution. (This aspects relates to Congress as well, but here I'm looking at Jan 9, 2011's Mercury Return mainly in relation to the Assange/WikiLeaks imbroglio.)

One aspect of note is the interesting inconjunct between Mercury in the Winter Solstice 2010 chart and the chart's Ascendant 24Can21 (the position of US natal Mercury Rx 24:12) with Mercury inconj ASC indicating evaluations and conclusions about others which are correct but make them feel uncomfortable and embarrassed.

Well, yes. We know.

Merc inconj ASC may also describe someone who is a "Jack of All Trades" with Mercury associated with trade and commerce, as noted above. A bit of a roustabout, perhaps? This Mercury is very much aware of the power of money, and may long nostalgically for simpler times.

In Jan 9's Mercury Return chart set for DC, there is a politically prominent trio: Mercury 25Sag25 in 2nd house of Values and Valuations, North Node 2Cap38, (3rd cusp = 2Cap41), and Pluto 5Cap38 in 3rd house of Communications. Pluto conjoins the degree of Mercury's Rx Station of Dec 10, 2010, a time when hidden meanings are revealed.

As you know, the Mercury/Pluto duo relates to propaganda, persuasion, deep thoughts, business secrets (ex: B of A), spies, surveillance and Intel agencies, communications satellites, and the drug trade; the two planets oppose one another across the Can/Cap axis in America's natal chart with Mercury Rx @ the "A Leader of Men Wrapped in an Invisible Mantle of Power" degree (the meaning of which then relates, of course, to powerfully wealthy, often invisible Pluto, the Spy, Saboteur, Assassin, and/or Underworld Criminal Network - and to the Bosses thereof.)

Mercury/Pluto = NN: contacts with those who help you obtain information or news(!); a desire for intellectual domination, or, to be a spokesman; contacts with powerful criminal elements; being recognized for one's persuasion or communication skills.

Given Mr. Assange's clear connection to mercurial functions, it may be interesting to note any further developments in the legal standing of the WikiLeaks' now-secluded founder who must try his best not to be extradited to face charges in the USA.

As this disturbing article makes very clear, Big Brother is only a ping or a mouse-click away from where you sit.

Now Stars Over Washington, if it were read in Washington DC, would be fairly unpopular amongst governmental fear mongers, I'm quite certain, for this blogger is disdainfully distrusting of their 'New World Order' agenda. What the NSA can tell about me personally online is more than I'd like to reveal to strangers, I'm sure, though I've never been much of a 'joiner'...no odd memberships entered into around here and none sought.

However, I am a *Daughter of the American Revolution with Cherokee ancestry and I don't take kindly to the totalitarian direction this nation is being taken.

So oversee my measly mouse-clicks, Big Brother. You won't find much more than a dissenting American woman past her prime who likes to offer all sorts of info on her blog about your doings...and the more secretively you go about your devilish plans, the better I like to reveal them.

How odd if the snoots of criminal suspects being splayed across NYC's Times Square provides crooks with a feeling of having 'made it' in popular culture.

Politicians, Propaganda, and 'Network'

This YouTube video of a rant from the 1976 film Network may seem old as the hills to whippersnappers of today's world, but its script has been lurking in my unconscious for years. Maybe it's part of the reason why I avoid the ridiculously named 'reality' shows now and why George Orwell is my main George.

Well, any article that combines Orwell with The Rise of the House of Rothschild is okay by me, especially since there've been ten trillion dollars' worth of wealth lost, and even Barack Obama may be hoping his new-president scripts are as well written as Chayefky wrote Network.

RNC's Romney calls on Big Brother

In his speech at the RNC this evening, Mitt Romney confused social programs for the needy with Orwell's concept of Big Brother which is the totalitarian dictator character in George Orwell's ground-breaking and prophetic book, Nineteen-Eighty-Four.

Romney, in an attempt to critique the Democrats' populist view of being one's brother's keeper (which in my Bible and an integral part of its teachings and which includes not letting Americans starve on our streets), said,

"It's time for the party of big ideas, not the party of big brother."

We know the 'party of big ideas' is the Jupiterian GOP. And the party of Big Brother-NSA/Bush~Cheney spying on American citizens a la Orwell is...the GOP. Didn't you think George Bush looked like an Orwell character on that gi-huge screen at the Convention?

Well, sometimes political slogans don't quite work as intended - they simply say too much.
