Year 2021: Subversive Elements in Society Spotlighted via Neptune in Pisces

January 14, 2021: With difficult days of potential violence and turmoil continuing in the US (as if justified by the Inauguration of President Joe Biden on January 20th) some readers may be interested in viewing a horoscope of the moment that certain subversive energies peak with transit Neptune square the Nodal Axis. For the purposes of this post, I'll refer to the Nodal Axis as 'NN' but I'm thinking 'Nodal Axis' which currently is under the rays of the Gemini-Sagittarian polarity with its Mercury-Jupiter influences. The Mercury-Jupiter pairing relates to sound common sense but negatively to failures through dishonesty, fraud, and negligence (Ebertin).

Implications and potentials of the subversive Neptune-NN pairing include: 'anti-social behavior/elements; lack of community spirit; strange conduct in communal life; unreliability; exploitation; deceit; cheating' (Ebertin's The Combination of Stellar Influences #ad). Obviously surreptious Neptune's mass propaganda is involved with the Nodal Axis denoting public contacts. Plus, 'breakdowns in relationships' can also occur under such deceptive influences (Tyl) usually due to falsehoods and/or misunderstandings.

Now here is the Neptune-NN duo in Politics and Business as detailed by Michael Munkasey (my italics):

"Thesis: A leadership unwilling or unable to consider the demands of its people; ideals or national glamor as an excuse for neglecting the growth and progress demands of the population or important groups.

Antithesis: Spies or terrorists which enter for villainous purposes; drug policies which avoid important concerns; an ill-adapted and inadequate hospital or medical care system; scandals caused by foreign concerns." (Midpoints: Unleashing the Power of the Planets #ad).

Please note that transit Pluto in Capricorn's destructuring of societal systems, Ebertin's description of the placement as 'the dictator', and the planet's famous tendency toward hidden manipulation, surveillance, and death, plus, the current involvement in the US government of Neptune-Pluto's criminal underworld/syndicate activities are factors beyond the scope of this particular post but have been discussed in previous posts - type a word or phrase into the sidebar Search field and you'll see!

Once the square's energies peak, its frustrating, nihilistic influences will begin to gradually wane in society (Neptune of the masses and mass media!) - but perhaps only to a dull roar since its vibrations imprint upon the Biden administration. So here is a link to the DC Horoscope set for January 26, 2021 9:11 am est Washington DC, the moment the Neptune-NN square perfects (19Pis06 and rising SQ 19Gem06 conjunct IC) and, for those who use Neptune as a ruler or co-ruler of Pisces, Mercury-Neptune vibes are also involved and resonate with Trump's natal Mercury-Neptune square of deceit, fraud, and malicious schemes.

In addition, yesterday the First Lunation of 2021 @23Cap13 occurred and is significant as the Syzygy Moon of Inauguration 2021 and due to its energies imprinting upon year 2021 and the Biden administration. Notable is that the pragmatic Sun Cap-Moon Cap blend of Saturnian energies can ably face reality, something the US is in serious need of after 4 years of an arch prevaricator.

Horoscopes: November and December 2020 Eclipses

2020 into 2021: Nervous Times and Cosmic Blinks

Simply for the sake of comparison, below is a dual image of the two upcoming eclipses that will round out year 2020 and escort society into 2021 with their disruptive, revealing Uranian 'wild card' and 'cosmic blink' qualities: Lunar Eclipse @8Gem38 (lower left) of November 30, 2020 and the Total 4 South December 14, 2020 Solar Eclipse @23Sag08 (the day the Electoral College is scheduled to vote). The eclipses occur across the Gemini-Sagittarius axis which is ruled by Mercury and Jupiter, and both manifest in Mutable (changeable) signs.

However, the Lunar Eclipse brings in Fixed Signs of Taurus-Scorpio and Leo-Aquarius suggesting rigidity within financial and business interests (Taurus-Scorpio) in partnerships (Asc-Desc) with the self-will stubbornness of Leo-AQ affecting career and security matters across the 4/10 axis. Yet perhaps a bit of Aquarian humanitarianism will sneak in to our Domestic Scene (Ic/4th house). And since the November Lunar Eclipse @8Gem38 conjuncts US natal Uranus (8Gem55), yet another unusual twist of fate could appear on America's calendar during this particular eclipse season which just as easily denotes a positive twist so that no additional nervousness will be warranted ahead of time. Pre-worrying never assures good outcomes anyway!

And so the December Solar Eclipse falls within the difficult 4 South Saros Series and perfects near the South Node of the fluctuating Moon so energy tends to drain away from conditions and karma from the past is involved with 10th house matters (Washington DC). Mercury @20Sag05, planet of young people, writing, reporters, messages (ex: tweets), negotiations, commerce, theft, and/or elections, is nearest the eclipse and conjunct the Saturnian South Node indicating ideas and solutions ahead or behind their times, or those that could be plagiarized.

Also, you see that in the 1st-7th houses, the Virgo-Pisces axis (also Mercury-Jupiter ruled) is intercepted suggesting fated issues that must be dealt with in the victim-savior realms (ex: Trump's caged children? hunger and eviction due to the lack of a stimulus package from Congress?). Well, victim-savior issues we know - we've been feeling and experiencing them for quite some time now (for illness, see below).

Influences of the December 14th Solar Eclipse can begin for up to at least two weeks prior to December 14th, perhaps earlier in November. Both eclipses have been discussed on SO'W previously: here and here (horoscopes with details are shown separately and are earlier versions from the dual charts you see here):

Thesis: Communications about plans for growth or expansion; business, legal, religious, and/or philosophical discussions.

Persuasion through public relations, speeches, and/or writing, plus, statements that misrepresent, or are arrogant or mouthy are also potentials with the Mercury-Jupiter pair.

America 2021: Treading a Fork'd Path under Four Eclipses

October 28, 2020: We're mere days away from the November 3rd Presidential Election with everything hanging in the balance and the American people poised at a crossroads as we face a New Year, 2021. And since eclipses 'run in the background' of society (and affect history as it turns out!), a list of 2021 Solar and Lunar Eclipses with a few details might come in handy at some point.

Actually, Year 2021 begins with a Lunar Eclipse @5Sag25 which perfects on May 26th and significantly, is the cosmic 'bookend' of the previous Total Solar Eclipse of December 14, 2020 @23Sag08 in the rather difficult 4 South Saros Series (potentials for: frustration, strong emotions over money and/or relationships; a sudden desire to end relationships). With an eclipse in Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius we can expect our ongoing searches for truth and our ethical and morals concerns to continue well into 2021. Perhaps you agree that gone-astray America has much repair work to do and a large amount of reality to face especially considering the misplaced idealism that has been ineffectively guiding of our nation off a cliff. That is, repair work if we wish to follow a better path toward karmic progress. Of course, deceptive Neptune floating through its own shady sign of Pisces hasn't aided many of us on the side of clarity, has it? Instead, contagion, disease, fear, paranoia, loss, confusion, disappointment, fraud, theft, and corruption have ruled a majority of our days.

Well, I say more of Neptune's talent for creative inspiration is due!

So the next eclipse of 2021 will be an annual Solar Eclipse (not as strong as a Total of course--unless it contacts something in your chart!) on June 10th @19Gem47 in the 5 North Saros Series (visions; prophetic dreams; good insights, inspiration, and ideas). The duration of this eclipse is 3:51 so its effects may endure for nearly 4 months or years, if you can believe it. Well, it isn't as if we don't need good ideas. And inspired solutions. But hopefully, 2021's prophetic dreams and visions are not a reference to this gnarly issue, something few people are ready for, if so.

As for the June 2021 Solar Eclipse, Mercury-ruled Gemini is the polar opposite of Sagittarius, between them a common-sense Mercury-Jupiter signature. And with quick-thinking Gemini, reasoning ability and logic will be most important if we are to have any chance of making karmic progress in 2021. To me this suggests a Biden administration of professionals who know how to govern although you are welcome to disagree. And yes, we should acknowledge that 19-20 Gemini conjuncts Trump's Gemini trio (Uranus-NN-Sun) so if he's still on the scene (and he will be, a hulk lurking somewhere) he will use his inherent capriciousness, duplicity, and superficiality to interfere with America's karmic progress (whether he's in the White House or not) bwo regressive, reactionary policies and conspiratorial propaganda.

However, for Trump this eclipse may imply a Geminian news network or a show of some kind for the old geezer in lieu of fours more years in the White House. (His natal Sun-Moon opposition will be eclipsed, after all.) Plus, I'm fairly certain that his loquacious Mercury in emotional Cancer would adore such an opportunity to whine in a new format where he can continue to 'show off' his own version of truth via the natal Mercury-Neptune square that misinforms his sneaky mind and inspires him to invent malicious schemes. A network or show if lock-up is avoided, that is.

Next up is a partial Lunar Eclipse @27Tau14 on November 19th. This falls within the Pleiades Constellation, not my favorite area of the heavens for it contains nasty, violent Algol, in the Head of the Medusa, a star known for 'piled up corpses' in China. Trump's natal Midheaven (his life's goal: piled up corpses) is nearby the Taurus Eclipse which occurs in opposition to Biden's natal Sun and Venus in late Scorpio, plus, Biden's natal Mercury-ASC midpoint which suggests lots of meetings, discussions, and perhaps a search for a person who compliments his abilities in some way (eclipse in Biden's natal 7th house). For Trump the Taurus Eclipse manifests in his 10th house of Career so for best results he should concern himself with matters that involve his integrity (?) and how he serves the public. Not that service to others is one of his personal qualities, I'm just reading the eclipse placement here so obviously, to me if not to you, this relates to certain lacks in his character and his focus on materialism (Taurus, the builder). This could conceivably be a reference to financial legal matters for Trump particularly if he's out of office in January 2021 - and especially if Democrats keep the House and flip the Senate (admittedly a dream of mine--you caught me). For as you know, both Solar and Lunar Eclipses are similar to quirky planet Uranus and are 'wild cards of the Universe' that tend to uncover secrets and inconvenient facts.

Now, dear reader, my new printer-scanner should be arriving in Raleigh no later than November 3rd and if set-up proceeds as planned, a DC Horoscope of the significant, Total December 4, 2021 Solar Eclipse @12Sag22 in the 5 South Saros Series will soon be published here on Stars Over Washington for your consideration. As you may imagine, there's much to say about its portents, but for now, I'll add that 5 South themes involve potentials for good news, peak experiences of joy (!), and long-lasting benefits! (Sagittarian eclipse implications are mentioned, above with 2020's 4 South.)

For Joe Biden the December 2021 12Sag Eclipse falls within his natal 1st house which personalizes it for him, and for Trump it occurs in his natal 4th house of Domestic Scene, one of the psychological houses where his natal Sag Moon-South Node conjunction resides, a cosmic marker for emotional estrangement, bottomless emotional needs, and difficult relationships.

Well, it's to be Sag-to-Sag eclipses, so perhaps during 2021, karmic progress will be made after all! So make of this as you will, dear reader, and dare to leave an on-topic comment as you wish. Or, wait to comment on the 12Sag horoscope!

Synastry Grid: Trump's and America's natal planets

This Is Us: the Trump-US Relationship

A synastry grid comparing the natal planets of Donald Trump with America's natal planets is replete with potentials for tension, anger, scandals, notoriety, confusion, misunderstandings, deception, and undermining by and of allies--but also an attraction, plus the possibility of Chirotic healing, or at least a soothing, of our society's past hurts which I suspect refers primarily to his constant opening of America's oldest wound and flaw, racism, and to how his rhetoric and policies continue the class divide that began in ye olde Jamestown Colony centuries ago. Instead he chooses to stir up trouble on these issues, capitalizes on them, and shoves an even wider wedge between us in any way he can. For everyone knows that 'divide and conquer' tactics always work against the American people.

And as you know, his nibs is an anything-to-gain-power demagogue full of emotional turmoil and suffers with a bottomless pit of ego needs that can never be fully satisfied. We can see Trump's natal Moon-South-Node conjunction as basic evidence of his extreme emotional deprivation via estrangement from Mother, an estrangement the adult Donald can't seem to recover from and I suppose most of us never could whose Mother went missing in some way.

So in this post I shall attempt to provide brief notes on some of the main aspects between Trump's and our national planets but without US natal ASC and MC - except for two as-ifs because they seem to apply - 'DT Neptune conjoins US natal MC' (00Lib47) and 'DT Pluto trines US ASC' - since a variety of timings are used for the US natal chart (July 4, 1776) which gives differing chart angles. Here I'm using a 5:09 pm LMT US chart with 12Sag08 rising but US planets remain in basically the same positions no matter which hour is used on that date with the natal Moon remaining in Aquarius.

Mr. Trump's planets ('DT') are listed vertically (on the left) while US planets ('US') are listed horizontally; aspects are not listed in weighted order:

Reading from left to right beginning with Trump's natal Moon:

DT Moon inconjuncts US Mercury: emotional Trump vs US rationality causes friction.

DT Moon opposes US Mars: anger issues; 'time bomb' set to explode; stirred up emotions; actions and reactions motivated by emotions; emotional connection to the military. DT Mars opposes US Moon emotions boil over; rash actions; hostility; feeling under siege; angry women.

DT Moon squares US Neptune: living in a fog; emotional upsets; domestic troubles; taking everything personally; retreating to familiar territory (see golf pic, below); grief or loss.

DT Moon trines US Chiron: capitalizing on our hidden or deepest emotional needs; consciousness of our national wounds; opportunities for healing.

Is Donald Trump the Duck Dynasty Version of Reagan? - clip (and a "Unity Meeting")

In honor of this morning's "Unity Meeting" between Republican candidate Donald Trump and Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (with Trump's natal Mercury @8Cancer conjunct fixed star Mirzam rising at 9:00 am edt: to have one's say), I'm posting a commentary by progressive broadcaster Thom Hartmann concerning the differences and similarities of the 2016 Trump campaign and Ronald Reagan's successful 1980 presidential campaign:

May 12, 2016 Political Theater: an Astro-Peek at the Trump-Ryan Unity Meeting

At the goal-oriented Midheaven of today's Trump-Ryan Unity Meeting horoscope is the propagandistic Mercury-Pluto midpoint which carries potentials for keen judgment, coping ability, sharing secrets, providing important info, foresight, and an ability to arrange matters well (Ebertin). For RNC Chairman Reince Priebus (March 18, 1972) and for Paul Ryan (January 29, 1970), the current Mars retrograde transit in Sagittarius is lurking around both their Neptunes--Priebus' @5Sag and Ryan's @00Sag. When transit Mars aggravates natal Neptune, vibes of pretense, illusion, confusion, deception, and misunderstanding abound and may be coming from others and/or from Priebus and Ryan themselves. And considering Trump's truth-distorting natal Mercury-Neptune square, an air-clearing meeting of understanding and ironing out differences this morning almost had to be fraught with such potentials.

In addition, the current Jupiter-Neptune opposition is affecting Paul Ryan's natal Nodal Axis and his Midheaven, both on the Virgo/Pisces polarity, and the Jupiter-Neptune pair is associated with political conflicts, fraud, and speculation. And with today's Sun position @22Taurus (money sign of The Bull of Wall Street), the solar Sabian Symbol comes into view: "A Jewelry Shop Filled with the Most Magnificent Gems," which remains significant due to the May 2000 Great Conjunction of societal planets Jupiter and Saturn upon that degree. Financing a 'Victory Fund' was, of course, one of the topics of their "Unity Meeting" since Mr. Trump has now pivoted toward the General Election and the defeat of presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton--and because Trump's great claim of financing his own campaign must wane since his campaign will pay him back, plus, the billion-dollar effort that must be financed if Donald Trump is to prevail for the Republicans in November.

So although the changeable Gemini Mr. Trump is unpredictable (his natal Uranus in mutable Gemini leads all his planets) and is not considered conservative enough for many GOPers (can the party control him? he has enough baggage from the past that they can probably use threats and blackmail), the basic summation by Republican spokesmen this morning concerning the Trump-Ryan Unity Meeting is that "Trump isn't Hillary".

And I believe that that may be what many people would call cold comfort.

Astrology of 2016 Republican Candidate John Kasich

If you're curious, here is a bio of John Kasich which you may find to be quite mild. And without a known birth time for the former US Representative (1983--2001) and current Governor of Ohio (since 2011), we must depend on a somewhat out-of-focus reading of his natal planets since an accurate birth hour would helpfully time the Ascendant and other house cusps if we knew it. The natal info below is based upon a horoscope set for noon on May 13, 1952 (age 63) in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. Angles are not considered:

Governor Kasich was born under a 22-degree + Taurus Sun with the Moon in Capricorn for the entire 24-hours of May 13, 1952. This personality blend gives him a double-Earth nature of practicality and common sense. No, there are not a lot of frills here, but there is a traditionalist willing to take on responsibility--one who relies on logic and realism, and possesses a paternalistic authoritarian mindset. (You know, like old men who want to dictate how a woman makes health decisions for her own body? see the Thom Hartmann clip, below, where he mentions Kasich's recently stated view on punishment for abortion.) My thought is that John Kasich campaigns on being his own man (as a conservative Republican) so from this I gather that his paternalistic keep-women-down nature fits perfectly with the misogynist GOP agenda--their attempt to take America back to the pre-1850s. (Or with theocrat Reconstructionist Ted Cruz, back to the laws of ancient Israel.)

And with John Kasich's Sun Taurus-Moon Capricorn personality, we know that ambition and striving for possessions, power, and control are foremost for him and yes, this is a good blend to have if you're a politician. Many people tend to place their confidence in such a dependable Taurus-Capricorn fellow and this one has a strong inner sense of confidence and integrity. Shrewd in business dealings, Gov. Kasich as a critic can be severe and completely honest in his assessments and he commands respect from others. Not one to forget when he's been wronged or slighted, he can also be kind and affectionate in private and when feeling secure though Taurus always adds a streak of pig-headedness to most any personality.

Mercury, Planet of Thinking, Planning, and Communicating

John Kasich's Mercury in late Aries widely opposes his Mars Rx in early Scorpio (7A27) and hints at a brusque manner and way of speaking to the point. This pair of planets relates quite often to Politics and shows an alert mind and good intellectual capacity. With maturity he has learned to avoid arguing whenever possible and perhaps the art of compromise has somehow been absorbed. One must wonder if he should become the denizen of the Oval Office how much compromise he'll feel is appropriate with his opponents. This opposition may cause him to draw conclusions too readily before hearing or knowing all the facts. Plus, Mercury is also in an out-of-sign conjunction (4A51) with expansive Jupiter in Venus-ruled Taurus which denotes far-reaching plans, a talent for communications, and a deep thirst for knowledge (which probably aids him with his Mercury-Mars opposition's tendency to jump to conclusions--he's something of a know-it-all.)

So does any of this Astrology portend Governor Kasich to be the victor of the November 8, 2016 Presidential Election? No. It doesn't. Actually, we're talking personality traits. Yet perhaps more importantly, I see no close links from his planets to US natal Moon in Aquarius (We the People) which may be one reason he's had difficulty gaining approval with the general public. Yet when folks listen closely to his message, they tend to be impressed (Mercury sextile North Node--2S25).

Of course, if we knew Kasich's accurate time of birth we might find US Moon on an Angle of his chart which could boost his presidential aspirations yet with his long career in government I don't think he sounds much like the outsider that Venus portends in November, do you?
