Is right wing extremism in the US on the rise?

No, it doesn't require glue sniffing or kool-aid swigging to imagine the GOP's slowly forming strategy when McCain was so obviously past his prime in the 2008 presidential run and Republicans saw Barack Obama attracting millions of people with his orating abilities and winning personality.

Plus, the international banking houses signed on to the Obama brand to make matters less... Republican in Washington as the Democrats took a helm-manning turn so that the illusion of a two-party system in the US could be upheld in everyone's imaginations.

Is part of the GOP's hornet's nest strategy a revving up of right-wing extremist groups by playing on their gut reaction to having an African-American president in the previously all-white White House?

My mind wanders back to Nov 4, 2008 when Saturn's status quo based on tradition and Uranus' progressive attitudes and futuristic reforms were locked in a precise stand-off, known in Astrology as an opposition, as the antithetical planets fought one another across the Virgo/Pisces axis of the victim-savior archetypes.

Now most folks first assumed that change-lovin' Uranus won the election, but this reluctant astrologer suspected that Saturn was still very much in the game. And we've heard many times since Inauguration Day 2009 that Mr. Obama is more traditional than many people expected him to be...well, yuh! Critics of his economic plans say he's performing a superficial face-lift rather than instituting the deep reforms needed by a corrupt investment and banking system, the whole of which is rotten to the core.

Well, his Saturn in its own sign of staid Capricorn tells that tale niftily, I think, yet having expansive, optimistic, idealistic Jupiter nearby and within the first degree of Aquarius makes Obama quite a blend with an out-of-sign conjunction of the societal planets (Jupiter and Saturn) - he prefers to promote the best of past and future, if only obstacles would get out of his way.

Let's hope for his family's sake and for the health of our nation that his obstacles remain on the debating of policy and legislative sides without expressing upon a physical level. The July 21/22 Solar Eclipse is a doozy though, so we'll see how things proceed as 'systems and old methods fail; any blocks may be violently or tragically removed,' cautions Brady's Predictive Astrology. (The 11 South Eclipse at a crisis 29th degree (of Cancer) occurs on the 21st at 10:34 pm edt in Washington, DC.)

And no, President Obama is not the savior many Americans imagined him to be. Certainly no one person can clean up the Bush-Cheney mess in a few months or years, even assuming that Mr. Obama genuinely wishes to. (As you may know, I see the US presidential baton-passing as significant of a continuing one-world-government agenda that we-the-people are ordinarily not privy to. If you're a top o'the heap US president - you're one of them or you couldn't have made it to the top of the political mountain!)

But another interference from chaos-creating power elites in the course of our history would be debilitating and sad for us all at a time when we most need clarity and upright actions, not undermining tactics and psychosis.

Perhaps you may agree that what America does not need are emotionally manipulated, half-crazed hotheads whose anarchisms are instigated by those whose hold on political power has become too tenuous for their self-serving comfort.

You know, in America's 'Franklin' natal chart (see post below for a chart image), the Moon (the populace; the public; we-the-people) is at the 25th degree+ of Aquarius rather than the usual 'Sibly' chart's 26/27 AQ. You may be interested in the Sabian Symbol for '25AQ' in light of my understandably annoying remarks above on America's 'right wing' extremists controversy (symbol from Marc Edmund Jones)...

'25AQ': "A Butterfly with the Right Wing More Perfectly Formed"...UNIQUENESS...this degree's symbol speaks of man's capacity to overcome any handicap imposed on him....and of his underlying stamina or psychological integrity.

positive expression: a genius for turning deficiency into a real asset;

neg/unconscious/shadow side: unhappy and rebellious conceit.

Yes, well it would be conceit at the basis of prejudices of all kinds, wouldn't it? And September 2009 brings the world yet another brittle stand-off between the opposing forces of Saturn and Uranus as they bitterly battle on.

Grumpy Old Men of the GOP

Senator Lindsey Graham, friend of John McCain, explains November 4's 'Grumpy Old Men' of the GOP and why they lost the White House, which is fine as far as it goes, it just doesn't go far enough.

Ex: Graham says the Republican Party is tainted by corruption. Actually, corruption doesn't so much 'taint' as spread out and infect to the core.

Their party is closer to being a cesspool and Graham's labeling their corruption so delicately as a 'taint' doesn't change anyone's assessment of the GOP. Sorry. You people infest Washington DC, my favorite city, and I cannot forgive you your perfidy and rotteness. You stink and so do your enablers.

Another reason for their loss, he says: overspending. America is bankrupt under these pocket-lining monkeys and it's mere 'overspending'? That you can cut back on. We've nothing left to cut - the Greedy Old Party heisted it all while certain Dems drove the get-away car.

And last but not least in Graham's oh-so-reflective confession: they "sometimes" came across as a "bunch of grumpy old men."

Sometimes? The GOP chose to run the white-haired dude with the sour face and the lamentable memory...as they love to say to the down-and-outers among us: all through your life you made choices. You partisans chose the grumpy old man. Did you not know his age? Puh!

Why, it's almost as if the Republicans wanted a Democrat to struggle in the White House after they'd made hay with America's resources, reputation, and freedoms. And it isn't as if the GOP didn't know they were in serious trouble for Election Day 2008 and they had known it for years.

Well, apparently it will be baton-passing time on January 20.

And even though I have serious misgivings about a Barack Obama presidency, it's not personal (at this point) against him (he's quite fabu and talented) - it's that the larger political/economic agenda steamrolls along with The People paying the price, no matter who fulfills the figurehead position required of the Oval Office.

And as both readers of this blog know - he won't have to be grumpy to make me mad as a wet hen.

Is Obama really a socialist?

"McCain called me a socialist for wanting to roll back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans so we can finally give tax relief to the middle class." Senator and candidate, Barack Obama

~:~

Yes, 'socialism' is always the boogeyman word the GOP pulls out and dusts off when their elite base squalls at the threat of social involvement waiting in the wings. As if they'd feel the pinch!

But there's a huge number of Americans who could do with some New Deal initiatives thanks to the monied class' thievery...will the common Joe and Jill vote against themselves today while giving Rovian politics a thumbs-up?

That the unemployed haven't had it up to Here with upper class banditry is difficult for me to believe, but of course, the electoral college may be what's used most effectively against the people's best interests and druthers.

So it's Nov 4th at last, and it seems Virginia is having serious problems today. Come on, Virginia! Contingency plans would have been a great idea, and as an artist of the drawing persuasion, you can't beat a good pencil and paper especially when all else fails.

Only a landslide will do, so I'm off to vote now - meet ya later! jude

Economy and the stupid white men

Are white men stupid enough to fall for John McCain's economic theories and install him into the White House to continue the Bush policy of gutting America?

Did you know that McCain blames Bush for the economic crisis?

Will white men of voting age pay attention to McCain pal Phil Gramm and his Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act peeking out from behind the curtain?

Obama leaves campaign trail temporarily

Candidate Barack Obama will leave the campaign trail later this week to visit his very ill grandmother in Hawaii for a couple of days.

This 85-year-old lady worked for the US war effort in WWII while her husband served with General Patton, and she's been nothing but supportive of her grandson who, though busy as anyone can be in this world, will be stepping off the campaign merry-go-round long enough to spend two days with his ailing grandmother who helped raise him.

This is undoubtedly a difficult time for Senator Obama and his family especially since Mrs. Dunham is the last of his parents-grandparents with his parents both gone, and his other grandparents gone, too.

So I hope their visit seals that deal over and above any other deals pending on Barack Obama's table.

Is 'spread the wealth' same as socialism?

Charges are mulitplying by McCain and his surrogates that Barack Obama's tax proposals and other economic ideas are 'socialist' in nature.

Well, it's true that the phrase "spread the wealth" never goes over well with the richest class, and I can think of no better reason than this: if spreading or sharing actually occurred, half a million or so of their dollars might be used to feed the hungry, bind the wounds of the ill and dying, and comfort an orphan or a foster child or two.

Why, a factory might be built and a few jobs created - and after the corporate elite worked so hard to ship our jobs overseas, too!

So apparently, if there's one thing a rich man can't stand, it's being his brother's keeper by giving back a little of the largesse he receives through the laws of this great nation and from the sweat of the common worker's brow.

Never mind that a rich man has money and legal reps to avoid paying taxes which he rightly should have been paying all along. Plus, they didn't invent offshore or Swiss bank accounts for nuthin'!

As you know, it was King Midas who turned everything he touched into gold which became a major problem to him because gold isn't everything and people turned into golden statues make poor companions.

Now, lest a rich man think this gnat of a blogger covets his gold, let him rest at ease, for temporary values don't trump (Trump!) eternal values with me - for it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God, says Scripture.

And you know that rich men probably think they have that circumvented just as they do with creative accounting tricks, triple sets of books, laws skewed on their behalf against the individual, world banks in cahoots, and Wall Street schemes galore.

But one day when All accounts are settled, we'll have to see about that. We'll all just have to see, won't we?

Obama-McCain debate ends 10.15.08

Well, tonight's presidential debate between Senators Obama and McCain was the final one of the trio and was held about 5 hours after orator Mercury turned Direct.

If you're interested, I've made some comments and added a bit of the dialogue from the Tavis Smiley Program which went on air just after the debate ended at 10:31 pm edt. You'll find a reference to my previous post on tongiht's debate which has more astrological comments to it so when you arrive, just scroll down a smidge if you like.

Then there's the political excitement tomorrow night - will John McCain show up to be on Dave Letterman's Show as promised after blowing Dave off two weeks ago for Katie Couric? Dave's discussing it as I type so the excitement is palpable, and you know I'll be watching.

"He'll be here tomorrow and he's got a lot of explaining to do," quips Dave. But now Dave's not expecting McCain to bring Sarah Palin. Dave doesn't think Miss Alaska will be there.

Yes, the road to the White House goes right through Dave, as he's fond of saying, since McCain announced his candidacy (this one) on Dave's show.

Oh funny Dave! He just had a split screen between himself and Hank Paulson to "ask questions" of Secretary Paulson...who keeps blinking in that trance-like way he has. Of course, they're looping the tape - and Hank isn't "answering" any of Dave's "questions" as if he doesn't hear him.

But Paulson's droopy frown stays perfectly in place, so there is that. Even when he's unlooped he looks to be in some kind of trance. Perhaps he should get looped more often.

Palin's password: man indicted

Palin Email Hack: Man Indicted at HuffPo has a few details on Mike Kernell, 20, son of state lawmaker David Kernell (D-TN), if you haven't heard that the hacking mystery is solved.

The state rep says he was not involved in the scheme, but his son, an economics major at the University of Tennessee, is in deep federal waters here and faces up to 5 years in prison among other things.

Whether it was love, curiosity, the devil making him do it, or misguided political shenanigans, Kernell will rue September 16, the day he reset Palin's password and publicly outed her emails.

Obama-McCain townhall debate 10.7.08

Just now I'm looking at a chart of Tuesday night's presidential debate #2 between Barack Obama and John McCain in Nashville, TN, for 9:00 pm cdt, and you know what?

With 9Gem00 rising, asteroid Midas Rx is rising at 8Gem20 with one of the Royal Stars of Persia.

At Midheaven (MC), the Aspiration/Goal Point of the chart is 17AQ51 which 'debateably' brings in the Solar Eclipse of Feb, 2008...the 'Unmasking Eclipse' because '18AQ' is the "A Man Unmasked" degree in the Sabian Symbols.

This indicates that the purpose of this debate is to reveal true motives if you believe politics in a townhall format is able to do this. It would be refreshing, wouldn't it?

That each candidate will seek to unmask the other is a given while keeping their own masks snugly in place.

At MC is North Node (NN) 16AQ44 conj Chiron 16:12 Rx, with Neptune (the masses, plus NN is also 'contact with the public') so we have an important angular midpoint picture at the most public point in the chart...

Neptune/NN = MC: taking a position off the mainstream of life (in, no doubt, a mavericky way); needing the help of others to realize one's objectives; preferring seclusion; emotional suffering.

To address the emotional (and financial) suffering of the American people should be an aspiration of this performance, one expects.

Moon 22Cap55 ('23Cap': "Two Awards for Bravery in War') is in 8th house of debt, credit, and other people's money, along with Jupiter 13Cap56 - still opposing US'(and George Bush's) natal Suns...money and resources dried up...or more correctly: money in bank vaults not being shared with the people who need it most and whose spending would improve the economy if they could get their mitts on it.

But gold-hoarding Midas is rising along with Fixed Star Aldebaran, the brightest star of Taurus, keywords: success through integrity. Aldebaran is one of the four Royal Stars of Persia and indicates success and glory but only if a particular nemesis can be overcome (Brady's Book of Fixed Stars.)

Opposite is another Royal Star, Antares, in the debate's setting position - keywords: success that can be obsessive. There is a need to avoid obsession with Antares, the star at the Heart of the Scorpion. If Antares affects a chart there is worldly success but one may cause his own undoing; there is usually a cleansing by going through a life-or-death experience (Brady.)

Remiiiind you of anyone?

That two Royal Stars are angular in this contest's chart indicates to me that this is a fated match-up of world proportions for America's helm. You are welcomed to see it differently, if you like.

So Antares is often mentioned in the same breath with the Celtic fable of the scorpion on the frog's back who stung the frog as he was being carried across the stream - his reply as to why he stung the frog when he promised not to - "it's my nature" - a fated answer since character IS fate. The scorpion drowned.

Does this relate to the McCain campaign's tactic of attacking Obama on character? Palin is now saying that Barack Obama is a bad person, not that his poliicies would be bad for the nation. But the politics of demonization may backfire for John McCain, because the American people don't want to hear it, they want real solutions to the problems created primarily by politicians, bankers, and wheeler-dealers who sold our nation and our children's futures down the pike.

Cute winks and wrinkled noses won't solve anything.

Chart-ruler Mercury, planet of oration, is still retrograde at 12Lib35 and trines the ASC, yet makes no applying aspects to any planets from its place in the debate's 5th house of Risk-taking.

Sun 15Lib10 is within one degree of US natal Saturn, and also in 5th house; this Airy Sun is trining the NN/Chiron conjunction at MC.

Scrappy Mars 2Sco38 begins in 6th house of Health, Work, and Service
and is the chart's final dispositor and ruler of the Hour.

All falls back on this strong Scorpionic Mars which I count as the ruler of Scorpio. There's an applying sesquisquare to Uranus, the rebel, 19Pis43 Rx, with Saturn 16Vir05...Saturn begins in 4th house, Uranus in 11th house of Groups and Associations.

Inhibiting Saturn is conjunct McCain's natal Neptune 16Vir07 which is the grim-face-of-reality-and-disillusionment transit previously mentioned in other posts.

When Saturn conjoins n Neptune (as it will soon in America's natal chart in late August-early Sept, 2009) there is a misinterprestation of what one is responsible for (more bankers' debts hoisted onto taxpayers' backs? Or perhaps the just-signed bailout bill showing its true motives and repercussions?), and the reality of situations is difficult to fully comprehend. Past lies and frauds may come to light under this difficult transit.

Monetary matters are particularly affected by Saturn-conj-Neptune, although charity donations may be put to more honest and focused use so that's good.

In his book The Astrology of Relationships Michael R. Meyer says that a sesquisquare (135 degr), member of the octile family, is an aspect of activity which culminates in a dramatic and intense release of dynamic energies.

It is considered a weak square of difficulty - two interlaced squares...135 - 90 = 45...a square and a semisquare all in one.

Testy warrior Mars in waxing sesquisquare to maverick Uranus is a hot combo. In relationships this represents powerful connections that could manifest either in an exciting and constructive way or a conflicting and difficult way.

You don't want to miss this one, Ladies and Gents!

Now for the Sun Lib-Moon Cap blend, an Air-Earth combo of rationality, innovation, and diplomacy...

Images for Integration: "The Statue of Liberty...At the annual company Christmas party, the chairman dresses up as Father Christmas and hands out new gold-engraved stationery for everybody." (Sun Sign-Moon Sign, Chas & Suzy Harvey.)

So Father Christmas is handing out Midas' gold in Lady Liberty land? This I gotta see!

~:~correction: my Astrology friend Sasha has pointed out that the debate actually begins at 8:00 pm cdt so the rising of Midas and Aldebaran takes place an hour into the debate...thanks, Sasha! It will be interesting to see with my animated chart set up (SolarFire software) what's being said at the moment they arise and Antares sets. jc

VP debate horoscope 10.2.08

Tonight's VP debate between Senator Joe Biden and Gov. Sarah Palin is to begin at 8:00 pm CDT in St. Louis, MO. This is a Saturn Hour and gives Venus as the chart ruler.

This may be a good thing in spite of my mistaken posts this morning citing Mercury Rx as the chart ruler because the chart you see here takes some of the pressure off debating, orating Mercury.

Venus, as noted in the chart, applies to a lovely sextile with Jupiter, now opposite US natal Sun, as noted previously. Venus then applies to a square with Chiron in AQ, and as you see, NN and wounded Chiron, the shaman and healer, are still traveling in tandem. Palin may do well with Republican 'Jupiters' everywhere, but may experience blockages (square) from being seen as inadequate (Chiron) with the general public (NN.)

Glamorous Neptune 21AQ43 Rx is still veiling (conj) Palin's natal Sun so seeing her through rosy glasses remains a factor for the susceptible.

Moon 22Sco51 and Sun 10Lib12 give a rather interesting word picture or Image for Integration as the Sun-Moon blend:

"A wolf and an elegant Burmese cat become inseparable friends." ('Sun Sign-Moon Sign,' Chas & Suzy Harvey.)

If this chart shows the correct CDT time for the beginning of the VP debate (unlike my posts of this morning) the rising Sabian Symbol for the debate itself is: "A Man Handling Baggage" which indicates to me an experienced man, aka a man with a past.

Angular is the mystical Neptune/Pluto midpoint at MC...on the chart perhaps you can read the midpoint picture (but remember that the Nep/Pluto duo is also a significator of the Robber Baron class, of oil cartels, and of mystical cults, among other things.)

8th cusp of Shared Resources, Credit, Debt, Insurance, etc...11Sag06, is the position of Dec 30, 1999's Great Conjunction of Pluto and Chiron, the plutocracy pair. I'll not go on about them again because both readers of this blog have 'heard' it before and before that..."A Flag Turns Into An Eagle That Crows." The current financial crisis is fast putting an end to the "crowing" - and pride comes before a fall as America begins retracting.

So, the man handling baggage is...

Biden? McCain? Obama? Bush? Any, some, or all could apply. I've heard that Palin will be attacking Obama, while Biden will focus on McCain, and I assume, on Bush and his disasterous policies which have decimated our nation.

Of course if You, lone reader, have snooped around my posts before this, you may know that I blame them all: Congress no less than Bush, Bush Sr, Clinton, Cheney, Rodham-Clinton, Gore, Reagan, Nixon, Ford, Carter, and I never forget to toss in Rove...the list is almost endless. Why, there's...

Delay, Hastert, Gingrich, Reid, Pelosi...etc etc etc. One can grow gray around the muzzle trying to give a complete list of miscreants, varmints, bandits, thieves, and charlatans infesting the DC I love, my former stomping grounds - and I don't take any of this lightly though sometimes I may jest to keep from crying for America.

You know, I've been whining about this stuff for years and only now that things are too bad to be ignored are a majority taking notice - not of me, a mere gnat crying in cyberland for her country, but the dire problems themselves...now that scams and frauds are affecting so many people in the pocketbook.

So there will be a flavor tonight of "a sense of real problems" to this debate. But are any of 2008's candidates serious about actually repairing them in the way they actually need to be repaired?

Or will Politics, that organized system of hatreds, once again pilfer the pie from America's windowsill?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~:~Well, publishing the 8:00 pm CDT version of tonight's debate chart can't make up for this morning's gaffe but perhaps it will help.
I only hope the chart is correctly calculated this time...if not, some wayward astrologer who stumbles upon SO'W...please pipe up!! You know you don't have to be dumbleheaded to be me, but it definitely helps.
It's 15 minutes to showtime...better mosey!
What Bush didn't say
The way he said it was very familiar.
What Bush didn't say in his '9/11 revisited' speech on the economic crisis Wednesday night would fill several Wall Street ledgers.
All this suspend talk - the debate Friday night, the VP debate - reminds me of what some of we-astrologers were saying months ago about how McCain might not have the steam to make it to November.
And that lazy left eye of his is being remarked on here and there. Have you noticed it? Apparently it's been in evidence since April.
One of his melanoma surgeries was under it, I believe, but correct me if I'm wrong.
What if McCain spent some hours on Wednesday at a doctor's appointment? I'm just wondering aloud.
And when McCain finally moseys to Washington to "help" with the financial crisis (hasn't he done enough already?) after playing about with Katie Couric which was after he blew off his appearance on Letterman's show Wed night - the agreement on the Hill may be completed so he'll be a like a fourth wheel on a tricycle.
Guess the wheels are fallen off his wagon. And here I am in Georgia - my wagon's stuck without enough gasoline to leave the state and I am about to miss my son's wedding apparently.
And all I get from government are threats and more threats.
As Craig Ferguson said tonight, AWH! rich people are losing money!
McCain is on the case though. So they'll be okay.
Obama: Uranian change or Saturn's status quo?
With Barack Obama's natal Saturn (authority) in its sign of traditional Capricorn (politics, law, business) I've been wondering repeatedly whether Obama-as-president would bring us Uranian change or Saturnian status quo, despite campaign rhetoric.
And as both readers of this blog know, Saturn opposes Uranus on Nov 4, 2008...US Election Day, as the universe echoes the importance of this election and the world's future direction - As Above, So Below!
Of course, Saturn may operate as a slower agent for change - Uranian change is quicker and more revolutionary and startling (like the attacks of 9/11/01.) These last several years have been of the Saturnian variety of change once 9/11 was accomplished, and a long-time coming, too. We might ask Bush, Cheney, Rove, and the power elite about that.
So with Barack Obama's change slogan rattling in my brain, I turned to one of my favorite Political/Mundane Astrology writers, Jessica Murray, and found that she's on Obama's case with Stepping Outside the Bubble: The Election of 2008 where the Saturn-Uranus opposition, America's natal chart, campaign politics and propaganda, the 'lesser-of-two-evils' approach which we-the-people so often remark upon from the voting booth, Rovian tactics, the entrenched power elite, the Age of Aquarius vision, and other important issues are analyzed as only Ms. Murray can do.
Is Uranus stronger than Saturn for the US? Well, I agree with Jessica that government by-of-and-for the People IS Uranus incarnated. It is what makes We-The-People worthy of capitalization!
Perhaps 2008's grassroots organization of Americans will win the day for our beset nation whose power elite care not a fig for our hopes, wishes, livelihoods, or futures. Disregard what they say - it's what they do and have done that counts (see Wall Street bail-outs while family businesses and individuals sink. That this is a massive Take-Over is apparent and explains the queasy feeling most Americans are having...and should.)
Wall Street gentry (and the status quo government) may be seen as Saturn and the individual as Uranus, so the Saturn-Uranus opposition describes the current financial crisis as well...we vs them.
Massive grassroots organizing of the individual into a strong, power-wielding group (AQ) is the only way we'll come out of this important election time with measureable change for the better, and with government on our side again, if indeed it's possible at this late date.
And so I ask: which side are you on?
