Looking at the chart for Washington today and the 'high noon' deadline Arlen Specter dramatically gave Alberto Gonzales to correct his testimony, it portends the usual defiance by Gonzo.
Like other Chiron/Uranus Types Alberto has trouble accepting the authority of others--except his own, of course.
At the noon point of the chart--the MC--is "20Can", a critical degree, which puts the opposite degree (20Cap, now gobbed up with the transiting Pluto/Chiron midpoint, the Plutocracy duo) at the IC, the Basis or Foundation of the chart. The IC is the HOW? Point so we see the powers-that-be-behind-the-throne as the way he may hold onto his power for he's desperately trying to save what's left.
The previously mentioned Fixed T-square pattern pointing to apex (focal) Mars has another opposition to contend with (at noon)...
Depressive but ambitious Moon/Saturn = Mars: sense of real problems; difficulty getting off the ground except by strategically planned exertions.
At noon the ascending degree 17Lib38 brings the US sec progressed Mars into view-- our military, the war, and surveillance folk being behind much of this apparent scuffle with Gonzo and his attempted hospital strong-arming of Ashcroft...
"18Lib" = "Two men placed under arrest"...oh come on...only two from this crowd? (If the petty weeders were cleared out of US prisons so they could go home to their children, we'd have plenty of room for the politicians who really belong there.)
Amusingly enough, Mars is near the nasty Fixed Star, Algol, and nearing turbulent Capulus (to lose one's head; blindness; ruthless, decisive action), with Algol's keywords: ruthless destruction; consuming passion.
The Sun (8Leo05 at noon) arose with Fixed Star, Sirius, closely connected to the US natal chart. Sirius = a person who loves power; the fire of immortality; danger of pushing things too far, too fast (like Bush-Cheney into Iraq?)
Mars also is in an obsessive-compulsive quindecile aspect (165 degress, QD) with Jupiter (Jup = R Party) so we have Mars QD Jupiter: driven by a thirst for more (power!); rushing to judgement; acting impulsively on beliefs and opinions; aggressive; erratic in financial matters; unpredictable; extremely competitive; takes on too many things at once.
The last is supported by Gonzales' current transit of Saturn (Sat = D Party, but on another level represents authority and accountability in general) to natal Pluto (power; manipulation; coping ability.) Saturn to Pluto brings a loss of control in situations which are simply too large to handle.

Since his birth time is unknown (if you discover it, please let me know!) I only know that his natal Moon is in Aquarius...at sunrise (Aug 4, 1955) Moon 19AQ19. If born before sunrise, it's possible that Neptune's dissolving action has already been affecting his Moon...or it's doing so now, for this transit brings a lack of commitment from others, and mystery and confusion about one's background and past.
And since Neptune always has an element of loss or self-sacrifice to it, this transit could very well be part of his experience now (give it up, Al!) If he has physical complaints they will be difficult to diagnose, and if he has a home--and even weasels must live somewhere--there is danger of gas leaks or flooding.

I've been planning an article on the two "US" Eclipses you'll find mentioned there, so maybe this is as good a time as any:
Aug 21, 2017, and the Eclipse of Apr 8, 2024, both of which "slash" across America, as some say, esp the 2024 Eclipse which will be visible from Mexico to Maine and reminds me of the highway the globalists are envisioning for us (not quite the right route--but there's more.)
I confess that the possibility of earthquakes had occurred to me...fault lines, the continent separating, etc. Or how about another "Civil War"? All ughy of course, and too close for comfort.

My guess is that you remember how al Qaeda members--or hangers-on--were said to have had dreams of airplanes flying into buildings just prior to 9/11/01. Or so we're told.
There will be more to post concerning these Eclipses in awhile, and I'd be very interested in your opinion on the subject as well.

Imho, the 12th house of karma, the unconscious, and self-undoing, is one of (if not the) most interesting houses (departments of life) in any chart.
Tellingly enough, politicians often have 12th house planets--ex: Bush's behind-the-scenes 12th house with Sun and Saturn in Cancer.
And although I admit to being a Saturnian astrologer (heredity-based) rather than a Uranian past-lifer, karma is a natural law we must all face for we can't escape reaping what we've sown, can we?

John Roberts falls, Saturn at Midheaven
Saturn (25Leo44) ruler of bones, now in Leo, sign of the spine and the heart, was at Midheaven at 1:57 pm edt, Port Clyde, Maine. Roberts is said to have "fallen" at his vacation home in Maine "around 2 pm." His spokesperson says he "took a tumble."
But does tr Saturn (loss) in Leo (leaders) have more winnowing to do? You betcha.

Roberts has been reported as having no known health conditions (other than hanging out with the syndicate of Bush-Cheney and their ilk.)
The stubborn Taurean Mars is still within orb of the rigid Fixed T-square with Saturn/Neptune, mentioned in a recent post.
The "fall" chart also brings in another picture:
Neptune/MC = Mars: acting without clear understanding (as in, tipsy? or just acting on principle which doesn't sit well with your Federalist pals' agenda?); the desire to bring wrong ideas into realization; metaphysical study; charisma for professional gain; playing a role.

The above quote from Gore Vidal has inspired me to look yet again at the chart for the Jupiter (R-Party)--Saturn (D-Party) conjunction of May 28, 2000 through which the world is now slogging (Jup/Sat = 20 year cycle)--and what a pretty picture it is when the Rs and Ds coordinated yet again to bolster joint plans and make arrangements to sock it to The People.

Gonzo impeachment makes sense
In what may yet turn out to be an alternate universe, it seems that the NYT endorses Gonzales impeachment as mentioned today in The Carpetbagger Report.
If, as Einstein said, you can't fix problems using the same thinking that created them, it seems just crazy to keep Gonzo around a Justice Department whose credibility is shredded and whose staff is now ragged and sparse.
Unless, of course, you're part of an agenda to gut justice in the first place.
So the undermining of America continues while a toothless Congress wastes time and our money debating ad nauseum. Debate in a democracy is a great thing if you can just get people to shut up and actually DO something of worth and merit.
And you don't have to be an Einstein to figure that out.

On Sept 11 there is a Partial Solar Eclipse 18Vir25--the same day as the US's Mars Return (a new cycle of activity; 2:55 pm, Mars in 6th house, Pluto rising, Moon moved on to 21Vir24, Sun and Moon in 9th house by then. Only applying aspect of Mars in Return chart: opposition Pluto, 4A56.)
So with Pluto conj ASC in the US Mars Return chart we have:
Pluto/ASC = Mars: ruthless energy deployment; courage; upset and change; foolhardiness and danger; injury; accident. A Mars Return is 'good' until the planet's next Return to natal degree--appr 2 years.

Sun/Uranus = Mars: hasty physical actions; injury; accident; hitting a brick wall.
Moon/Uranus = Mars: lack of self-control; self-aggrandizement; injury; violence; danger of infection; craving for sensation; excessive ambition.
Apex Mars in Mutable T-square indicates one who is restless and tends to diffuse his energies in a disorganized fashion. There is a high-strung, nervous disposition with mental irritablity; he's distracted and possibly bored.
Stimulated to initiate a wide range of enterprising activities, he must focus and coordinate better to manage this energy well lest nervous exhaustion and incompetency take over.
This apex Mars also happens to be conjunct George Bush's n Uranus/NN conj:
Uranus/NN ("political reformers") = Mars: quarrels; disputes accompanied by violence; rashness; having an axe to grind and gaining support; tremendous energy and tension (the last supports nervy apex Mars, above.)

Another thing about the US Mars Return--Mars is conj 9/11's Moon/Saturn midpoint...

Every couple of years, as Mars hits this degree, we may hear (but hopefully not re-experience) these issues from the 9/11 attacks. Yet we know that such disasters "keep on giving" for a long time.
Bush's natal planets rising:
Perhaps you can see a bunch of Bush's natal Libran planets rising in the Eclipse chart--Neptune, Chiron, Moon, and Jupiter, with tr Mercury 9Lib13 (conj Vindemiatrix, "loss of partner; depression; the occult.")
And with Mercury recently transited Bush's n Neptune he may have "misplaced" some communications, and has had difficulty in grasping the true meaning or accuracy of info received (Petraeus' "report" on Iraq? Purgegate emails? Other previously hidden sorriness?)
Plus, there are often mystic/occult connections when Mercury transits n Neptune--and contacts may involve charitable institutions, prisons, and hospitals (Walter Reid? Secret prisons? "Faith-based initiatives"?)
In the Eclipse chart MC 13Can09 brings Bush's and the US's n Suns to the most visible point of the chart--and as you know, things manifest at chart angles since they have an outlet for expression.
Another interesting occurrence which has been off and on of late is that tr Pluto has been in an obsessive-compulsive quindecile (QD) aspect with Bush/US natal Suns...
Sun QD Pluto = intense drive to break outdated concepts bwo innovative ideas; may disrupt governing systems and break rules through defiance of law and order (that pretty much describes the Bush administraiton in totality, doesn't it?)
Therefore, the Eclipse brings along a QD between MC and Pluto:
Pluto QD MC = driven by the need for ultimate power within career; reformers of societal perceptions; leaders of mass movements.
This Solar Eclipse is in the 9 New South Series which began July 19, 1917...not such a good year, imho...there was a Saturn/Neptune conjunction then and we're just finishing up another of their oppositions in 2007. (The US propped up the Shah in Iran during the 1952/53 conjunction. Their 1989 conj brought Bush Sr playing prez, and NYSE woes.)

The last manifestation of this Series was in August, 1989...and with this Eclipse occurring in natal 1st house (physical body; self) for Poppa Bush, will his health and/or past presidential actions be brought to the surface in some way?

severe dust storm on Mars

DUST STORM UPDATE: A severe dust storm on Mars, which has been darkening skies and causing a solar energy crisis for NASA's Mars rovers, refuses to die down. Clouds of dust are now visible in backyard telescopes and Mars is beginning to resemble a orange billiard ball as all of its underlying surface markings are hidden from view. The storm is already a month old and no one knows when it will subside.

Today I'm looking at the current Progressed charts--Secondary (sec = physical plane), Minor (minor = mental plane), and Tertiary (tert = emotional-intuitive plane) for John F. Kennedy, and their **midpoint pictures now formed ('thumnail' views, you could say--in English for the astrologese-impaired) for they may be instructive concerning the current state of the nation to which he was sacrificed.

Why, for days, weeks, and egad! even months afterward, TV commercials changed and became more 'sensitive' and less 'greed-infused' but it seems obvious that this momentum has slowed to a crawl. We're up to our old ways as if the dart had never pierced the heart of this nation (a 'butterfly' flitting about to the next new thing.)
And so I pray for America to find a better road in a better way--and I'm sending a heartfelt shout-out to all who love her rather than use her cynically for their own interests. You know who you are.
And although I don't idolize JFK, it does seem that he cared more for this nation than those who currently infest the White House (and most of the varmints serving (themselves) on Capitol Hill. Of course, my liberal slant may be to blame...call me a people person, if you will...it's all right by me.
NPR announced today that Karl Rove has been subpoenaed so let's see what good another apparently toothless subpoena will do, shall we, as the drama continues to unfold...matinee discounts available.
