And NPR is now airing an interview with Michael Lewis, author of the new book The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine, and from what he's saying, Goldman-Sachs comes out smelling even stinkier than I had previously thought.

Well, pee-yewww on them all. But what honesty can anyone expect from a NYSE that was founded during a financially illusionary Jupiter/Neptune conjunction?

And by the way: today's announcement of the long-awaited financial 'reform' bill by Senator Chris Dodd today reveals that the bill intends to grant the Fed more power, not less! Well, it isn't as if I expected much improvement out of the Senator from the credit card state.

With Lehman Brothers in the news again I searched SO'W for a previous article from September 2008 concerning the Lehman Brothers crisis - of 1984, that watershed year of infamy.

From what I've heard recently on NPR, the crisis of 1984 taught the firm nothing worth passing down to the modern CEOs of a company that knew what it was practicing was fraudulent but they did it anyway.

At some point, the Brothers must have contracted a bad case of Enronitis and passed that down instead, one supposes.

You'll also find in the above-linked article a certain list of Who Really Rules the World...good to know in case you need a bailout or a credit line extension, right?

The New Moon 25Pisc10 on Monday, March 15, 2010 occurs @ 5:01:02 pm edt at the White House so I thought perhaps a few astro-beans might be freely spilled on the subject as a new cycle of activity begins.

In Washington DC, the New Moon will occur in the 8th house of High Finances, Credit, Insurance, Debt, Transformation, etc. The 8th house, of course, is part of the 2/8 Money/Valuations axis; 8th cusp 22Pisc33 may not indicate a lot of clarity in financial matters especially considering the 3rd (final) Great Conjunction in December 2009 of the speculator pair of planets, Jupiter and Neptune, ruler and co-uler of the Piscean New Moon.

The New Moon's ruler, Jupiter 13Pisc27 is in 8th house, with Neptune 27AQ13 (6th house) left behind to splay messily over America's natal Moon 27AQ10 (US Sibly chart, 5:10 pm LMT) - quite a perfect picture of job (6th h) loss (Neptune) and lies and confusion (Neptune) about health (6th h; Moon.) And Chiron, associated with unhealable wounds/knowing how to wound, is also in 6th house of the New Moon chart.

Since I've blogged previously on the Neptune-to-n-Moon transit I won't repeat it all here other than to say that our ongoing senses of rootlessness, homelessness, and being deceived continue their difficulties upon the folks who can manage them the least. (Thanks, Washington, corporations, lobbyists, and the Fed - for nuthin'.)

Mass media (Neptune) is busy pulling her veil over the eyes of the people (Moon), too, perhaps in relation to a specific matter or matters with this Neptunian transit now exact. Yes, I realize they always do, but the timing is important so watch out for a special story to appear on the public radar - perhaps one that's difficult to believe (because it's untrue or based on flimsy evidence.)

Of course, flimsy statistics are possible as well with 'numbers' being a constant tool for manipulating public opinion and the 'health' of the market. Yet, sensing we're being lied to and scammed, US consumer confidence may reach a new low soon with Neptune-to-Moon since inflationary Neptune brings slowly dissolving conditions of loss along with massive deceptions and frauds.

Plus, a mystery (Neptune) from our nation's past (Moon) may surface and surprise us either positively or negatively so we'll see if anything newly discovered turns up concerning our history or past events. Perhaps some media hype (Neptune) may be uncovered for what it really is - a crock of NWO promotion.

Yet, Mercury 26Pisc26 conjoins disruptive rebel Uranus 26:29 in 8th house and both are close enough to the New Moon to usurp its rulership. When Mercury/Uranus energies are fused we get possible communications breakthroughs, modernization of transportations networks or policies, business groups forming to initiate policies, and/or labor coalitions or unions at work. And if goals are not clearly defined we may see riots and rebellion based on false assumptions, reforms that cause upsets in transportation systems, and/or a use of propaganda during emergencies. At the moment of the New Moon's perfection on Monday, the ASC degree in DC is 29Leo08 which brings up one of the Royal Stars of Persia, Regulus, in the tip of the Leo's tail. The keywords for Regulus: success if revenge is avoided, so the caution with Regulus is not to take revenge. The other Royal Stars have cautions, too, which, if heeded, result in the promised success.

Also rising is asteroid Sisyphus, keywords: to be determined to achieve or succeed. Sounds like someone at the White House is understandably antsy to get some legislation passed, yes? And at IC 23Sco57, the Foundation of the chart, lies asteroid Pallas 23Sco02 Rx. Pallas = strategy, wisdom, defense of the city state.

With Pallas Rx, it may be that strategic plans are in review, as well they should be considering the hard slog this administration has had since Inauguration 2009's Rx Mercury (plans, announcements, contracts, agreements, messages, re-taken oaths, etc - plans possibly aborted, hence the GOP call for 'back to the drawing board') and its void-of-course Moon which showed that things would not be working out as planned, if at all. VOC Moons may also describe conditions where plans or events currently in play will not be interfered with or diverted - nothing is of any help as to how things turn out for it's too late. (Ex: 9/11's Moon @ a degree of Bankruptcy '28Gemini.' Bankrupting the people is working well for the global power elites so far. And 'it's too late' describes the condition of the US financial system in 2001 that most economists weren't being honest about. Perhaps someone saw waging expensive wars as an answer to financial shakiness. It wouldn't be the first time.)

The New Moon's North Node (NN) 18Cap48 is pointing toward asteroid Cupido, keywords: corporations, The Family, crime syndicates (and Art!) and they're @ the *NWO degree '18Cap' = "The Union Jack"...SUPERVISION...

positive expression: the self's ever-widening spread of interest in its insatiable desire to leave some permanent imprint of itself on everything it touches (the mark of the NWO beast? Microchips for human beings, anyone?);

negative/unconscious/shadow side: smug or strong-armed paternalism. (MEJ.)

And NN in Cap implicates Saturn in 2nd house - with President Obama's natal Mars on 2nd cusp 22Vir33 along with US natal Neptune 22Vir25, the signature of Mr. Obama's 'rock star status'...but indicating that the public seldom if ever sees his actions (Mars) in a clear light due to Neptune's interference (media and other deceptive actors including Obama's team of spinners.)

Well, with tr Saturn 1Lib46 Rx in 2nd house of the New Moon chart, and considering the Old Man's continuing visit to the White House's natal Uranus 00Lib01 (at US natal MC in the Sibly chart) we may wish to consider how Saturn-to-n-Uranus may affect the White House under this restrictive transit. It's a time when circumstances conspire to interfere with freedom and independence in some way (probably in several ways given the big mess America's politicians and bankers have plunked her in); plus, it's a period when new approaches or ideas from the W-H are not viewed favorably, especially by those who prefer the status quo. Duh.

Now that can describe all the big sectors now balking at governmental reforms in their industries including financial, industrial, and medical. Yet carefully laid plans may succeed eventually so it's no reason or time for the forces of change and reform to give up the good fight even with discontented Americans being Neptunized by media and others with 'lose-your-health-insurance' and 'death panel' confusions meant to keep the President off-keel and his reform agenda stymied (until the Republicans can swagger back into the Oval Office and do more of their style of damage for Dem-style damage isn't the GOP's cuppa tea.)

MC ruler Venus 10Ari23 is in 8th house; Venus also rules 3rd house through Libra. In Mudane charts I tend to notice '11 Aries' no matter where it appears because its symbol is: "The President of the Country." Interestingly, the tr Mars/Neptune midpoint here is @ '14Tau' which is the Inauguration ASC degree, the office of the president...

Mars/Neptune = ASC: a strong mental focus on the subtle ways to use to compel or coerce others into adopting your ideas; focusing attention on the causes of confusion which surround tense situations encountered. (He did that last week on the stump. Wonder if he'll make recess appointments when the Rs are out of town for Congress' spring break? He'd be crazy not to.)

Warring Mars, so recently turned Direct on March 10, is approaching the W-H's natal Jupiter 3Leo51 so there will be a temptation to give others more credit than they deserve. Yet monetary matters can improve under this influence if other factors don't interfere too much (Saturn to Uranus?); the White House's role may expand in some way along with its physical efforts so Mars-to-n-Jupiter may encourage more troop deployments or the launching of new military campaigns (just what the world doesn't need.) Money may be what's expanded, however, so the bottomless pit of war will need more inflationary billions spent (Boeing fighters come to mind) and the President will be traveling abroad.

So let's close with the Sabian Symbol fo this New Moon which I must provide since it's absolutely perfect for the beginning of a new cycle of activity as timed by a New Moon: '26Pisc' = "A New Moon That Divides Its influences"...wonder if it means between health insurance and financial reforms?

Synastry grid of natal charts: Across President Obama (D-WH); Down Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY); as you see I've circled squares, oppositions, inconjuncts, sesqui-squares, and semi-squares between the two men and have titled this synastry grid comparison, 'Friction and Tensions.'

Pictured below is the noon horoscope for Mitch McConnell, born Feb 20, 1942 in Tuscumbia, Alabama although his website skips Alabama entirely and goes directly to his being 'raised in south Louisville' Kentucky.

Yes, Tuscumbia is the birthplace of Helen Keller but perhaps Sen. McConnell's apex Neptune in a YOD pattern (with Sun sextile Moon - if he was born earlier than noon) gives us a clue: apex Neptune in a YOD configuration indicates one who in early years longs to be elsewhere in a better, calmer place.

In fact, discontented is a good word for him on more than one level, and he's something of an idealist who'd rather stay in his emotional ivory tower and ignore needed social adjustments. In a 'safe' emotional place you don't have to deal with real life's harsher realities yet this is the kind of inner (possibly unconscious) attitude that causes distortions in judgment and errors concerning others' situations (to the extent he notices them, one supposes.)

The senator may feel quite fearful and defensive when life fails to live up to the ideal vision of his Airy Jupiter - unless and until he learns to sacrifice whatever it takes in order to gain an intangible ideal; apex Neptune in a YOD pattern may indicate an illumined one who deeply delves into the mysteries of life.

Now I've heard that Baptists 'don't drink' but I also hear that most senators consider themselves to be far above the natural laws the rest of us are subject to! Well, if he doesn't drink, perhaps he writes poetry or plays violin when he's in seclusion.

Senator McConnell has a Leonine Pluto/Chiron conjunction, the pair of plutocracy, oppression, fascism, sexism, and all the disenfranchising -isms you may care to name; plus, for him and for other Jupiterian Republicans, I'm-not-my-brother's-keeper-ism could be in the mix, too.

Now you see in the noon chart below that McConnell's Moon 4Tau36 has traveled from Aries recently - actually, @ 2:58 am CWT the Moon reached 00Tau00, so he either was born with a Sun Pisc/Moon Aries blend (Water-Fire = steam) or a Sun Pisc/Moon Taurus blend (Water-Earth = mud.)

Therefore, I shall include a few notes on both Sun/Moon blends since he seems more the quarrelsome Arian type than the placid Taurean type. Of course, Taurean Moons do like their creature comforts, don't they? And perhaps an Aries Moon is too fiery for the solemn fellow. Yet I always remember a famous man with an Aries Moon, so fond of spouting, "I AM the people." (Robespierre.)

And Senator McConnell keeps saying over and over (in an attempt to make it true) and speaking for us that the 'American people don't want' health insurance reform legislation to pass. Or is financial reform legislation his oft-repeated mantra of obstruction as he tells us what we (all) don't want?

Both health and financial, if either bill's passage means success for the President.

You see in his chart a massive trio of Mars, Saturn, and Uranus in stubborn, intolerant, greedy Taurus (the dark side of Taurus.) Those with Mars conj Saturn are not accustomed to having their plans challenged and can launch vicious attacks against adversaries, even to the point of physical violence; Saturn/Uranus conjunction folk have a talent for putting inspirations and innovations (Uranus) into form (Saturn), and lots of self-discipline for reaching their goals...Senator McConnell is purposeful and is not afraid of responsibility; he belongs in the socio-political realm...in a word, Politics. He's impatient with superficial people and may consider Mr. Obama to be one. Don't trifle with McConnell!

Well, as usual, there's a lot more to say about Senator McConnell's natal chart but the press of time weighs upon this gnat of a blogger so I shall ask you to click the chart to enlarge and read a few basic notes I've scribbled there which include the impressively long list of asteroids linked to his natal planets (Sun = Bacchus = Hermes! Pluto = *Nemesis, and interestingly, McConnell has been described as President Obama's political nemesis. Considering that McConnell's Nemesis-Pluto-Chiron trio is about two or three degrees from Mr. Obama's natal Sun, I must astrologically agree with that political assessment. Plus, Obama's natal Mercury 2Leo20 conjs MM's n Pluto - quite a planetary pile-up between them. As you know, Merc/Pluto contacts can be critical and cruel.)

But one more thing...the closest applying aspect to natal Sun which describes the core essence of our subject:

Sun inconjunct Pluto (150 degrees, aka, a quincunx): can take on duties that others neglect, then feel bitterly resentful about it; may overreact to the expectations of others; deep guilt causes continual striving to prove he's doing his share; makes punishing demands on himself so that moderation is needed to avoid health consequences; may compare himself to others who become bitter when forced to follow his example of overdoing; obsessed with gaining the admiration of others to whom he feels inferior; sacrifices must be made to realize ambitions; must learn to accept his limitations; can focus efforts on a particular objective and ignore nonessentials; wrestling with other people's wills should be avoided for best results - the less conflict and tension he creates in dealing with others, the better.

Since President Obama moved into the Oval Office, Senator McConnell seems to me to be more energized than ever to create conflict as part of the GOP's 'anything to undermine Obama' campaign in order to ensure, as Rush Limbaugh announced at the outset in January 2009, the failure of the Obama Presidency.

Never mind that where a US President goes, there goes our nation.

Today, a newly discovered comet is plunging toward the sun for a close encounter it probably will not survive. The comet is rapidly vaporizing and appears very bright in coronagraph images from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO).

Ron Paul video: support of Kucinich's resolution 248

Here's a video of Rep. Ron Paul speaking in support of Rep. Dennis Kucinich's House concurrent resolution 248 to withdraw US boots from Afghanistan by Dec 31, 2010 but as you know, the vote tallied 65 - 356 on behalf of keeping our resources and fortunes tied down in Afghanistan (and protecting gas pipelines?) for the duration.

Well, if you're like me, you think the invasion, given cover by the attacks of 9/11, was meant to be a permanent occupation all along - and being there 8 1/2 years seems to support this over arching plan. Of course, this makes yesterday's vote predictable since no politician wants to admit being in the wrong - or be accused of making Congress look bad (as if it isn't too late!)

Yet I do appreciate that Mr. Kucinich and his resolution's nine co-sponsors (and the few who swallowed their pride long enough to vote for withdrawal) made the effort that shows the rest of the Capitol Hill warmongers look like what they are...shills on behalf of the war profiteers and perpetual-war ideologues who will wage war here in the 'homeland' if they deem it to their advantage.

American Empire we hardly knew ya

History can be a tiresomely accurate predictor of the future. Therefore, given the tendency of empires to collapse under their own unwieldy weights, it's quite possible that the Collapse of the American Empire may occur even sooner than we expect.

Has the big fat rump of imperialism spread about as far as it can go?

Financial Crisis 2008 - German hyper-inflation 1922/23

This is something of a 'pre-post' which may result, if time allows, in my writing an article on the Astrology of Germany's hyper-inflation era of 1922/23 which is said to have been caused by the privately owned Reichsbank of Germany. That our own creature, the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States, has been at the base of the current financial collapse seems a given to me but perhaps more reading is in order.

Don't think I'll be changing my mind on it though...a long-planned, rigged collapse it was and is, astrologically orchestrated by 'secret hand' Pluto in Capricorn, sign of structure, law, government, politics, and business, and apex/focal planet in the Cardinal T-Square between Saturn/Uranus (opposing one another) that we're all reading and writing so much about these days and at the beginning of its full effect for Spring Equinox 2010.

Once again, here is the midpoint picture formed between the three T-Squared planets which were in similar configuration during the era of the Great Depression:

Saturn/Uranus = Pluto: desire to overcome a difficult situation through extraordinary effort; brutality; rebellion against one's lot in life; harm through force majeure; tremendous fear of loss; upheaval to protect assets; revolution; concealing changes to activities; termination of practices that have been hindering progress; drastic changes in a previously liberal atmosphere; rigid inflexibility replaces adaptation. These difficult planetary patterns will affect the collective from 2010 to 2014 which covers the following time frame of transits to the US chart and beyond...

As you know, transiting Pluto has been opposing US natal Venus (values, small amounts of money, relationships) in Cancer and will soon oppose US natal Jupiter, a period of time not favorable to US interests, finances, or partnerships.

Here's the plutonian schedule of hits to our natal 'Sibly' chart (5:10 pm LMT, July 4, 1776, Philadelphia, PA) with both our Venus and Jupiter in natal 7th house of Partnerships, Legal Affairs, and Open Enemies - dates are 'on or about' depending on your time zone:

Pluto oppo n Venus 3Can06: Dec 26, 2009; August 9, 2010; Oct 18, 2010.

Pluto oppo n Jupiter 5Can56: Jan 17, 2011; Nov 20, 2011; July 8, 2011.

As you see, only one opposition has occurred as of today - the Dec 26, 2009 stand-off to natal Venus. This transit indicates struggles for power and control in relationships and valuations with possible violence brought by the determined Mr. Hades. So from August 9, 2010 until July 8, 2011 (and thereafter) plutonian power struggles will be 'on' for control of America. (I use a 5-degree orb with Pluto transits. Perhaps you do, too.)

When Pluto opposes US natal Sun 13Can19 (Sun = the leader in a national chart - the 'president' to us), the mighty contest of wills is sure to be titanic and the possibilities of impotency and isolation are on the menu. The transit is within orb of US Sun beginning in very early 2012 (Pluto 8 Cap+) and in effect until 2017!

And Pluto will conjunct UK's natal Sun during this time. Hmmm...trouble on the powerful Can/Cap axis between the US and UK? A big break between us would be a major coup for someone, wouldn't it?

Of course, other transits to the US and *UK charts will occur simultaneously which either support or counterbalance the plutonian effects, yet my main grouse today is about the destructuring of forms and the belying of our perceived reality by catalyst Pluto's secretive actions.

To me, these transits say that US resources will be sufficiently depleted during that time period, if not before, that the 'secret' control heretofore exercised by string-pulling plutocrats may not remain as secret as before, and that abuse of power by the Sun will be best avoided since it won't work anyway. My disturbing expectation is that the US presidency will be transformed (further) or will be dispensed with altogether. This will affect whether America wins, or is allowed to win, the battle to act as the global domination czar.

So is the 2008 financial collapse a symptom - or signal - of a Hitler-esque mania for world domination, which is to be continued into complete totalitarianism?

If you check SO'W's sidebar (underneath the Current Moon Phase graphic) for 'Now Reading' you'll see a couple of links to interesting articles, one of which is 'German hyper-inflation 1922/23' that tells the tale of the economic conditions in the Rhineland leading up to Hitler's seizing of power on Jan 30, 1933. (Adolf and Franklin sittin' in a tree...s-e-i-z-i-n-g?)

Well, if Hitler hadn't been a murderous psychopath who psychologically splintered before everyone's eyes (perhaps in part from syphilis? cirrhosis?), one wonders what the modern condition of Germany would be. Sadly, we may eventually discover that such a model is in existence before our own eyes, and it will too late to stop it once the deed is done. Perhaps this is the meaning and outcome of Pluto-opposing-natal-Sun after Mr. Hades vanquishes our Venus and Jupiter, both planets relating to Money and Resources, and Sun representing such things as political power, control of resources, willpower, and life path or purpose.
