Spotlight on Mercury: Hillary Clinton

Here you see the most often used natal chart for Senator Hillary Clinton, Oct 26, 1947 8:00 pm CST, Chicago, IL, rated DD for dirty data as her birth time is unverified.

This is why I've not published or written much on her before. And I do think that one of the possible charts (for 8:02 am) makes a lot of sense because it gives this lifelong politician an ASC of 22Sco07, Mercury-SN rising, with Venus, Chiron, and Sun 2Sco19 in 12th house.

12th house Suns are quite prevalent for politicians including George Bush--it's a secretive placement good for deals behind-the-scenes with the true character well-hidden. At 8:02 am natal Moon would remain in Pisces although earlier--22Pis51, and the Mc/Ic axis you see here would flip--MC becomes Virgo rather than Pisces. (Senator Barack Obama's natal Chiron is 5Pis+.)

But my current purpose is to take a peek at natal Mercury, planet of thinking processes and communicating styles--a very important planet for anyone but esp for a politician who may be propagandizing at us ad nauseum from the proverbial bully pulpit. And birth time won't affect Mercury factors mentioned below...

Some general notes on Mercury in Scorpio:

Mercury in Scorpio gives an intuitive mind capable of deep insights, and perceptions which allow critical examination of human motivations. Things may be seen accurately but not necessarily in a charitable fashion.

Mincing words to spare others feelings must be learned for it does not come naturally to a Scorpio Mercury--if Clinton can't say what she really feels, she'd rather remain silent. This can be similar to a Mercury-Pluto conj (a la George Bush) which gives cruel speech and a talent for catapultin' the propaganda.

Many plans--'planning' is also a function of Mercury--are carried out in secret and communication occurs only with a definite purpose toward what she is trying to accomplish.

If Mercury is afflicted--and one may say that Mercury conj SN is an affliction, for it is somewhat similar to having a Mercury/Saturn conjunction, plus Mercury is actually squared by Saturn 21Leo21--there can be scheming, plotting, and ulterior motives. Well, okay--she's a politician in, of all places, Washington DC.

A Scorpio Mercury may also give much mistrust of others but makes a good researcher or detective.

Saturn square Mercury can give a tendency toward excessive worrying, mental inhibitions, and traditional thinking...aka lack of imagination. Overconcern with unimportant details may factor into the worry and there may be difficulty in gaining recognition for original ideas esp from the establishment.

This is the strict-adherence-to-law-and-order Mercury, often at all costs, and a fear of change may lurk just under the surface. Scorpio's influence gives Mercury a proneness toward jealousy and a deep fear of failure (enough to bring on crocodile tears? You betcha! And Moon in Pisces can turn on the waterworks in a flash--very helpful for a political thespian.)

In positions of authority, a Scorpio Mercury may resort to belittling the ideas of others, and trouble may come through written communications and contracts (Whitewater, anyone? Must be more where that came from or I'll eat my beanie bonnet.)

Now you see that Mercury is conjunct South Node (SN)...what of it?

South Node (of the Moon) is karmic in nature--it's where we've developed old ways of dealing with issues--appropriate at the time, but they no longer 'work'. Yet we continue to use them with lackluster results--aka neurosis. Remember her "vast right wing conspiracy"? How people laughed! (I didn't, did you?)

SN, an unconscious point in the chart, also relates to inherited talents, and with Clinton's Mars-Pluto-Saturn trio--all pointing to papa--I assume she has inherited some of her Scorpionic Mercurial traits from the paternal side, yet some must have come from mama (SN)...she got a double helping, I'd say.

Mercury conj SN indicates one whose ideas are either ahead of or behind the times. Positively this conj endows the person with mental originality--much-needed with her Mercury-Saturn square--and we've observed her sense of independence which the separative influence of SN brings. Plus, Mercury-SN often has difficulty with timing in speaking up--and sometimes isn't listened to and so becomes frustrated.

Often forced to proceed alone, it's difficult with this configuration to gain support or to get others to cooperate. Has she figured out how to do this?

If Clinton becomes president we'll all suffer mightily if she hasn't, for America's problems run deep and Washington is no longer known for cooperation unless there's a photo op involved or an earmark to scratch.

In the long run her ideas can prove to be correct if she uses the rest of her chart factors to aid this ahead-of-its-time Mercury-SN conjunction. Overhauling healthcare? Well, we'd be better off now if she had managed to have those ideas accepted then (although I believe those ideas weren't actually Hillary's, but that's okay.)

Whososever ideas she promotes, advances, or brainstorms, my sincere hope is for my only nag in the race...as ever and always, the United States of America.

SOLAR ECLIPSE: This Thursday, Feb. 7th, the Moon will pass in front of the Sun, producing a solar eclipse over New Zealand, most of Antarctica and parts of Australia. It is not a total eclipse; the Moon will only partially cover the solar disk. Nevertheless, the event promises some beautiful moments.

For instance, the partially-eclipsed Sun will dapple the ground with crescent-shaped sunbeams. Observers in New Zealand and Australia should look in the shadows of leafy trees for this lovely phenomenon. On the barren slopes of Antarctica, scientists and explorers can produce the same effect by letting the sun shine through a spaghetti colander or a sheet of paper poked with holes.

It is dangerous to stare directly at a partial eclipse because the exposed portion of the Sun is as blindingly bright as usual. Backyard astronomers with safely-filtered solar telescopes may, however, point their optics at the Sun and watch the mountainous lunar limb glide across the sun's fiery surface. The best views of all are reserved for an remote stretch of the Antarctic where the Moon will pass dead-center in front of the Sun without fully covering it. A thin layer of star will poke out all around the Moon producing a vivid "ring of fire" or annular eclipse.

Super Tuesday 2.5.08

Here you see the 7:00 am CST chart of tomorrow's Super Tuesday primaries set for St. Louis, Missouri, chosen for its bellweather state status.

When set for Washingotn DC, the MC (Aspirations; Goal) is 00Sag09 and if we round up for the Sabian Symbol degree for DC, and round down for St.Louis, we get "1Sag", the "Grand Army of the Republic campfire" degree. I just wanted to get that mention out of the way at the start.

Rising is 13AQ27 in St. Louis--in DC it's 10AQ46, conj Dick Cheney's natal Sun.

But for brevity's sake, let's focus on the St. Louis chart you see here for planetary positions are the same as for DC, cusps are in slightly different degrees.

Chart-ruler Saturn (Dem Party) is Rx in 7th house of partnerships--and is conj Barack Obama's natal Pluto 6Vir58--this describes his recent endorsements by key Democrats--Saturn (authority; control) conj Pluto (power potential.) However, when a chart-ruler is Rx, there are usually delays involved esp when it's Saturn, planet of delay, frustration, and inhibition.

This reminds me of Harry Truman's appeal to a young John Kennedy to "wait", the video of which was shown this past Sunday on Meet the Press. Yet Ted Kennedy and crew seem to be saying the opposite to Obama, don't they? Probably because they think the Senator can inspire the populace to (re) gain the White House for the D-Party by a 'landslide' which can't be denied if it happens.


Saturn makes only one applying aspect in the chart--a trine to Pluto. That will help the outcome for the Democrats, and Pluto has a link with the public--the masses, the collective unconscious. But Pluto also signifies the power-behind-the-throne plutocrats.

Realistically I've accepted the idea that no one can be US president without the blessing and annointing of these shadowy types--have you? Sadly I must say that an Obama 'landslide' may not turn out as we hope for the sake of the common good, for plutocrats of today are the antithesis of the concept. Visiting more wars upon the world which thus create chaos is part of their world domination plans, m'peops. And so the chaos creators tinker with our lives.

John McCain is obviously part of this world view, and H. Clinton is as well, imho, in spite of what she now says about ending the Iraq occupation...it's only campaign rhetoric. Please don't be duped--uless you really want Bill and the Clinton can of worms back in the White House.

Super Tuesday's Moon (the people or the public; publicity) is in 12th house, out-of-bounds, and unaspected and void-of-course (voc--no applying major aspects), but that's not all--Super Tuesday is John McCain's Lunar Return (7:38 am in St. Louis.) Perhaps some of the public who have left McCain will be returning to support his dreams of occupying the White House. The entire chart looks to me to be a more-war vs stop-illegally-occupying-Iraq-asap contest.

(12th house has connections to Politics, and it's the behind-the-scenes, karmic house where McCain's Moon Return is now occurring--natally it's affecting his 4/10 axis of Career.)

So the Moon's position is opposing McCain's n Pluto 27Can00, thus triggering his natal Moon-Pluto opposition, and points out his emphasis on more war in the Middle East which is "okay" by him.

In fact, the transiting South Node (SN) will be conjuncting McCain's natal line-up of Mars, Pluto, and eventually his MC...Mars/SN, Pluto/SN are both indicators of war and violence, so we can take him at his word on that. This transit begins in Dec 2008with Mars, early Sept 2009 for Pluto, and April 2010 for McCain's MC.

Tr SN to MC, however, is not good for one's public standing in the world so if McCain becomes US rep in the world as our leader, our lowered reputation in the world will be assuredly reduced. How much lower can America go? With McCain we will be certain to find out.

Natally, McCain's Moon/Pluto opposition relates to his POW status and treatment, and indicates one who has trouble dealing with the public--yet with a job that necessitates it. There is a tendency to become involved with dubious characters, and a demanding nature which is easily hurt if rebuffed.

A spirit of revenge is likely and there is a lot of unconscious anger in this placement--anger which is seldom consciously recognized. Publicly he plays the mild card well, but is known for other traits in private...aka a politician.

Back to the chart:

With wounded Chiron 15AQ50 rising in the Super Tuesday chart, bad weather and computer issues may be bring problems, and Sun 16AQ06 is just before the "Unmasking Eclipse" of Feb 7, which makes this a dark-of-the-moon Balsamic chart, the endings and partings phase which may describe candidates leaving the field (although Super Tuesday was not originally intended as simply a weeding out stage but more to give southern states greater say in the election process) so we may see campaign staff saying adios instead.

Many shenanigans may take place under cover of the darkened Moon, and if you click-to-enlarge the chart, you'll see asteroid Minerva at MC. Minerva is the name of the Hegel Society's Journal, and Minerva archetypally represents one's need to be accomplished.

Will Romney's plea to Huckabee to skedaddle bear fruit? But Huckabee is hoppin' mad at the suggestion, it seems, and determined to stay in the race. We'll see.

As for Hillary and Barack, there are factors of interest--Hillary's natal Jupiter 00Sag37 (she voted for the war--"1Sag", as mentioned above) is conj the 7:00 am MC. Seems money-bags Jupiter is helping her in her continuation of the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton program. Of course, Jupiter is also related to ideals, philosophy, and aspirations and having Jupiter in Sagittarius is so expanisve it's difficult to describe in a few words.

Will the good fortune of Jupiter reward Sen Clinton's ambitions? Or merely highlight her rubber-stamping war votes?

Mars' recent Direct Station is ongoing amd the warrior planet is at his Station degree Tuesday and very strong. Mars to Clinton's natal Uranus is very energizing, has associations with computers (men using computers? hacking?), and may indicate danger in the environment.

Senator Obama's Nodal Half-Return is inevidence now, a time of broken relationships if they are weak already, but relationships may be strenthened now if they are useful for one's purposes.

His natal Jupiter 00AQ56 is conj the Inaugural 2009's Sun and Mercury, with 09's Mercury opposite natal Mercury in Leo. Sun is the leader in a national chart, of course, so Obama's Jupiter in AQ is a good portent of his presidency.

(However, here are a couple of odd notes: in the Inauguration 2009 chart set for noon, Capitol Building, Jupiter at 3AQ+ is conj a certain personal name asteroid...Bill. And Jan 2009's Jupiter 3AQ+ is a Jupiter Return for old Adam Weishaupt, founder of the Bavarian sect of the Illuminati--and possibly the "mystery man" who gave America the design for her Great Seal.)

Super Tuesday's tr North Node points to a link with publicity (NN of the Moon) and is conj US natal Moon (the people), so voter turn out should be good and results will be closely followed (at least by those who aren't being seriously inhibited by bad weather.) This may indicate a woman's destined meeting with the public--in a word, Hillary.

If you're like me, you've noticed that "that hellish path blindly" actually describes the Bush-Cheney regime to a T. "Don't put an oil man in the White House," I pleaded with anyone who'd listen back in 2000.

And now going forward at the end of the day, I plead, skip the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton machine, y'all!

Bush at the helm: shipwreck, me matey

Many times during Bush's terms of office, I've heard or read references to America's being shipwrecked by this administration--and I'm sure you have also.

Hmmm...where in Bush's natal chart have I seen "shipwreck" indications before?

Using Anthony Louis' Horary Astrology Plain and Simple, I checked his list of Fixed Stars and Malefic Degrees in the back of the book and found these Stars and their keywords linked to two angles of Bush's birth chart: the Ascendant (his nibs himself) and the IC, the Foundation or Ending Point of the chart, aka the drain.

As you know, chart angles are points of dynamic manifestation:

Natal ASC 7Leo07 conj Praesepe 7Leo20 (the beehive = what he stirred up in the Middle East; Praesepe is a nebula on Cancer the crab's head--plus, his natal Sun is in side-stepping Cancer): inner drive; reclusiveness; blindness; injury; fires; murder; tragedy; "exhalation of piled up corpses";

North Asellus 7Leo32: shipwreck; blindness or eye problems; military preferment (AWOL from Vietnam courtesy of Poppy's connections? The Pentagon dancing to his tune?);

South Asellus 8Leo34 (this brings in natal Mercury and that of the GOP): same as North Asellus but add horrors; mass murder.

(Now remember--I'm just telling you what the Stars say...while reading the news these last eight years.)

Then there's his nibs' natal IC conj Foramen 22Lib09: prosperity; eyesight problems or blindness; leadership; shipwreck.

Well, there we have it--the man and his leadership, at the helm of America and sinking her as fast as he can. He's only got one year left, y'know, he's blind as a bat, and the NWO must be served to promote the North American Union. Bush and colleagues labor under the "a course of action which must be followed--little option to do otherwise" credo.

Romney McCained--and 2008's Eclipses

Yes, Romney has been cained by John McCain in Florida and I've been writing and posting a Page at Jude's Threshold--inspired by the fact that 2008 is hopefully the last year of Bush's residency in the White House, and a hankering fell over me to see where in his natal chart the four Eclipses of 2008 fall.

State of the Union address 1.28.08

Here's the horoscope of George Bush's final SOTU address tonight 9:00 pm EST, with US natal Neptune (planet of idealism, illusions, surveillance, deception, and 'nets') rising--and *US n Mars at MC, the WHY? Point/Goal/Aspiration angle of the chart and of the speech itself.

WHAT? = the Ascendant 22Vir28 (US n Neptune 22Vir25--a close conjunction signifying an acting job infused with deception, and the US n Mars/Neptune square being angular suggests that our nation's tendency toward secret actions and confused motivations is about to be touted and exploited. Secret surveillance, bloggers?)

Plus, transiting asteroid Arachne, linked with the internet, webs, and entanglements--and thus spying, esp online--is conj US n Saturn, planet of control and authority. This conj is in first house and will rise as Bush speaks.

So? the extension of the surveillance act which is set to expire Friday, Feb 1, is a major part of Bush's propaganda catapultin' tonight--major in spite of whether or not he emphasizes it--and he certainly won't mention its real purposes.

But we know that terroism and fear will be on the menu, of course, for Saturn is a planet of restriction--and fear.

If you click to enlarge the SOTU chart, you'll notice a few scribbled midpoints--the usual heavy-hitting suspects like Pluto/Chiron, Saturn/Uranus, etc. Ignore these if you wish, but notice the high flying KITE pattern which has Rx Mars as the tail and keeping it afloat at the MC of Goals and Aspirations.

Pluto 00Cap06 is the front of the KITE--where's it's going; NN 27AQ53 (conj US n Moon, the people or the public --Sibly chart) and the SOTU's Moon 26Lib13 is in 2nd house of Money/Values indicating our fluctuating (Moon) financial condition (2nd house.) Moon and NN relate to PR and publicity, too, so he'll be promoting the financial band-aid he's proposing rather stingily.

Bush's natal Uranus/NN conjunction is just past MC at 9:00 pm (a few of his natal placements are marked in green, US' are marked in red.)

Uranus/NN = radical political groups; reformers. Yeah, we see where that's led America--to overextension financially and militarily, bankrupcty, fraud, and homelessness. Thanks, neocons and your globalist compadres.

The self-controlled or depressive Moon/Saturn midpoint is conj US n MC and rising--and will be at SOTU's MC by 9:45 pm tonight, the approximate time Bush's last SOTU mercifully ends.

Moon/Saturn = MC: structuring ambition; making things happen carefully; a sense of duty and prudence (Poppy's word); feeling deserted, abandoned, sad.

When Moon/Saturn rises in the SOTU chart, shortly after he begins talking, we have:

Moon/Saturn = ASC: a reserved self-presentation.

And with tr Moon conj tr asteroid Demeter (spiritual nurturance in avocational work) don't be surprised if Bush uses his theatrically reverent tone and gives some shout-outs (code words) to the evangelical community.

Chart-ruler Mercury is Rx, so a good an outcome may not be expected for Mercury's communicating abilities with this, Bush's "Last SOTU Standing." Shall he leave no SOTU behind?

Now for chart-ruler Mercury's applying aspects in order of closest orb (to see how tonight's Catapult from the White House will be received):

1. inconjunct ASC/US n Neptune (1A24): reasoning not in keeping with the facts.

Maybe we should listen for a whopper in the first two minutes!Plus, an inconj (150 degrees) between Mercury and Neptune also indicates misunderstandings and disappointments.

2. trine MC/US n Mars and SOTU Mars Rx: lots of mental energy and endurance but restless; dramatic, forceful speech (for sure, but with a content of flufferies and veils); good for reporters and commentators; seeking to mold public opinion (the State of the Union is...strong? Well, what else can he say? economically it may not help to be honest tonight yet foreign markets are already on to him, Paulson, and Bernanke.)

Mercury trine Mars is also good at promoting causes, but with both planets Rx (Mars until Jan 30) the outcome will be delayed even though Bush will be admonishing the Senate not to delay the (inadequate) financial rebate proposal or load up the legislation with additions that would actually help those who need them most.

Yet their Rx conditions indicate critical issues, and perhaps after Mars goes Direct--and Stationing Direct is a very strong position--we shall see some movement in the Senate or otherwise. (Mukasey is set to testify about the erased CIA torture tapes, the Hatch Act, etc, on the 30th as well.)

Back to Mercury's applying aspects:

3. conj Neptune: thinking about what to feel; feeling what to think; special awareness; mysticism; dreaming; deception; illusions; good for creative literary pursuits. How will the media spin this SOTU? Or for that matter, how will the Dems and the GOP spin it? Like Arachne, one imagines--it will need it.

This address is to be "forward-looking" you know--after all, how could he look back at his trainwreck of a presidency? With a straight face and in public, I mean.

And "forward-looking" goes along with idealistic Neptune rising--Bush's natal Neptune 5Lib56 is his first natal planet to rise once he begins pontificating--another indication of Neptunian things already mentioned. Bush's thespian abilities will be heavily relied upon tonight.

Also rising: n Chiron (the wound), Moon, and Jupiter 18Lib09--Jupiter conj US sec progressed Mars--will rise bringing the 9 pm 2nd cusp of Money/Values with them, but don't be listening for a mea culpa on overspending on the war causing hardships back home. Ahh, the war--Cheney's and Bush's cash cow--that US taxpayers pay for obscenely so that warhawks may profit.

The "10Cap" region of the zodiac is Ted Kennedy's natal Ascendant (his physical self, so he's having a Jupiter-to-ASC transit now... = harmony) and is also conj Caroline's n Sun/Moon midpoint--10Cap29.

Jupiter does love to inspire, but with Nemesis there, this could be an indication of the Kennedy endorsements beating the Rs for the White House--or of something more sinister in the other direction.
