Was David R. Atchison "POTUS for One Day"? (13 South Eclipse)

When we speak of short-lived US presidencies we can do little better than the alleged one-day presidency of David Rice Atchison the senator who, some say, spent 24 hours as POTUS because of his next-in-line status when religious Zachary Taylor refused to be sworn in on a Sunday (March 5, 1849). James K. Polk's term ended on March 4, a Saturday, so for 24 hours the unsworn yet elected Mr. Taylor was president--unless Mr. Atchison was!

And although most historians discount the '24-hour-POTUS' Atchison's claim to fame, March 4 and 5, 1849 make for curious horoscopes for our consideration. Yet it is the event's Prenatal Solar Eclipse, the 13 South and its themes, that shed some interesting light upon that long ago political situation. The eclipse was also the Syzygy Moon (last lunation prior) of the event although being annular, it wasn't a particularly strong eclipse. Or was it? If slavery supporter Atchison as president was someone's plan, it didn't work.

What Says the 13 South?

Occurring on February 22, 1849 @4Pis22 (and Pisces being the sign of secrecy and confusion), the 13 South Saros Series contains sinister energies underneath with themes of 'striving for group endeavors, an urge for expansion that results in frustration, inhibition, loss, evacuation, or separation, and the possibility of constitutional crisis' (paraphrasing Brady's Predictive Astrology). Perhaps the eclipse's annular weakness helped keep the US Constitution from crisis for 'eclipses always affect history', according to William Lilly.

In addition, 13 South themes and events are to be viewed through a Mercurial Gemini lens for the initial eclipse in the series manifested on May 24, 803 OS @5Gem56--quite close by degree to the New Moon of May 25, 2017, the closest to Earth *supermoon of 2017!

Solar Eclipses in the 13 South series have occurred in the years 1903, 1921, 1939, 1957, 1975, 1993 @1Gemini (1993 = Uranus conjunct Neptune; 13S is the PE of Vince Foster's murder), June 1, 2011 @11Gemini, and will next occur in 2029 @21Gemini (conjunct US natal Mars). The 13 South series ends on June 23, 2047 with an eclipse @2Cancer (conjunct US natal Venus).

Social Program Cuts? Republicans Can't Shoot Butter

Since Mr. Trump and the Republicans have their knives out intending to gut social programs for the weak, ill, and aging among us while massive tax cuts are put in place for the wealthy class, a review of the History of Medicare and Medicaid seems timely. And as you know, in 1972 (under Nixon) an expansion of the social safety net was enacted to include coverage for the disabled, end-stage renal disease patients needing dialysis or a kidney transplant, and citizens age 65 and older.

But waging perpetual war for the sake of Empire is a very costly endeavor and it isn't as if the disabled, ill, and aging can or would enlist in the military, right? So did the GOP finally accept Trump as their 'outsider' president because they knew that an unprincipled man would agree to cut whatever programs they targeted? And that, after spouting campaign rhetoric that he would not cut the very programs now under the GOP knife! Not that I believed him, of course. Did you?

Always the Tiresome Trade-Off: Guns vs Butter

Yes, with dreamy Neptune rising in his natal chart, Speaker Paul Ryan is quite a big dreamer. But do the current GOP austerity measures against the American people put you in mind of Republican President Eisenhower's famous Chance for Peace speech of 1953? Here's an excerpt:

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children." Theft. He said theft. To give the wealthy more tax cuts while harming little children.

Now Eisenhower's words contain way too vast a concept for a subjective man like Mr. Trump to grasp although certainly some Republican congress members have the mental and emotional capacity to understand that such theft from We the People will result in millions of Americans ill and starving on the streets and infecting everyone else. Plus, the US economy will suffer from the additional financial burden placed upon our families. (No, churches cannot do it all). But that's where lack of conscience and principles come in--when politicians plainly show that no, they are not their brother's keepers.

Now I don't mean that the US isn't worse off economically than we've been led to believe these last decades and my suspicion is that this is very much the case. 'White collar' theft abounds, as you know, and as noted, waging global war and acting as World Cop takes a whole lot of filthy lucre.

However, the austerity path of heartlessness the GOP demands for America is not the only path to take. Even if it's the global bankers' * 'big picture commands a certain course of action, little option to do otherwise' offer-they-can't-refuse situation that our compromised, bribed, and threatened 'representatives' on Capitol Hill are following because the 'otherwise' involves too much risk for their own hides to take. Apparently the extra added 'benefit' of population control (a la Ayn Rand) seems to suit the Republicans (and their enablers) just fine--as long as they and their loved ones remain unaffected. (They hope!)

Well, thanks for letting me vent. The current news on Medicaid and other financial cuts enrages me on behalf of the common good and for the sake of my native country (which I'm very partial to!) I must vehemently dissent against the Republican austerity agenda and sorry-a**ed war economy which are suggested by the cruelty and hardship potentials of year 2020.

Yes, I have downloaded it and appreciate its details of the August eclipse which conjoins royal Regulus (Tropical Zodiac). In Astrology, an eclipse 'hitting' a star ramps up the potential for earthly events to occur on the physical plane. For as David Ovason writes in his book Eclipse,

"If an eclipse hits a star or a planet, node, or angle" (as this eclipse does for Donald Trump--his 29Leo Ascendant, Regulus (00Virgo), and nearby Mars (26Leo)--"the influence can be explosive and extraordinary." It seems there's more drama ahead for the Leonine Mr. Trump though given his tendencies toward scandal, publicity, indiscretion and chaos, we don't actually need Astrology to tell us that, do we?

Well, be that as it may or may not be for his nibs, we all want be prepared for August 2017 Solar Eclipse watching, an eclipse that 'splits' America from West Coast to East, Oregon to South Carolina and promises to still the tweeting of every bird in its shadow. Perhaps even Mr. Trump will be stunned enough to forget to tweet!

As you know, Mr. Trump left the US on Friday May 19, 2017 for a 9-day tour overseas, or as this New Moon's 'YOD' pattern suggests he left "on a pilgrimage" via apex Jupiter Rx in Libra (his natal Jupiter @17Lib27 at Direct Station and the third conjunction in his three-fer Jupiter Return 2016/2017 due on August 4th) --see lower left for my notes; Jupiter apex in a YOD pattern (special task; crossroads; turning point; crisis if mishandled--the New Moon Jupiter as the handle of a Bucket describes an important direction of interest and links the two hemispheres of the chart). Since he's visiting Saudi Arabia (Islam) and dares to make a speech on their religion (God help us), checks out Israel in his superficial way, and, as US presidents do, bows to the Pope in the Vatican, a religious 'pilgrimage' seems a totally appropriate way to describe this perspective-broadening voyage.

Gemini is the sign of travel (especially air travel) and boundary-ignoring Jupiter does love to travel and expand his influence--here, in Airy Libra, sign of Diplomacy.

Plus, on another level, astrological Jupiter may also represent priests and gurus, so there's that. A bunch of bigwig Jupiterians face to face with shared goals in mind--what could possibly go wrong? Maybe Mr. Trump's natal Mercury-Neptune square might cause trouble for his square is echoed at the base of this YOD by a Mercury-Neptune sextile of opportunity. But for him (and thus for America) the beneficial influence of the sextile with its curiosity and communication skill can be hampered by Trump's square with its misconceptions, fantasies, and his personal version of the truth.

The Prenatal Eclipse of Special Counsel Robert Mueller

As you've heard, yesterday (May 17) the former head of the FBI Robert Mueller was appointed Special Counsel (aka, Independent Counsel) to lead the FBI investigation into the Trump administration's Russia connections and improprieties.

Mr. Mueller's birth hour seems to be unknown but his birth date shows a dramatic Leo Sun and either Moon in the last decan of Pisces or in Aries. Luna's range on that day (August 7, 1944 NYC) is from 21Pis29 to 6Ari18; the Sun's range: 14Leo30 to 15Leo27. His Moon is ruled by either Jupiter (co-ruled by Neptune: secretive Pisces) or by activist Mars, ruler of pioneering Aries.

(Personally I'm leaning toward a Pisces Moon for several reasons, not the least of which is that the Sun Leo-Moon Pisces blend is that of a very famous spy born under its sway: Mata Hari! A Leo-Aries double Fire personality blend is a volatile combination and unless he's explosive in private, this doesn't seem to fit him, imho. On his day of birth, the Moon conjoined the Aries Point at 1:43:10 pm which gives him a good chance of a Pisces Moon--too compassionate to lead the Bureau? Perhaps. But oh so secretive!)

Now since a birth hour is unnecessary for determining Robert Mueller's Prenatal Solar Eclipse, we know that his 'cosmic blink' occurred on July 20, 1944 @27Cancer, a degree opposite US natal Pluto Rx, a powerful undercover/underworld planet often associated with spies, surveillance, stealth, manipulation, control, and extreme wealth.

In fact, Mr. Mueller's PE in the 19 North Saros Series has recently repeated--on September 1, 2016 @9Virgo and is the PE of both the November 8, 2016 Election and the 2017 Inauguration of Donald "Fake News" Trump with its themes of: realism, coming down to earth, becoming aware of an old situation and seeing it for what it really is, and constructive truth tackling (Brady's Predictive Astrology). So even though yours truly is no fan of the Deep State and its political and media representatives now working 24/7 to undermine the Trump presidency, my hope for our nation's sake is that Special Counsel Mueller will be able to tackle the truth about the several compromising conditions America now faces thanks to the unsuitable, amateurish presidency of the dictator-loving, Mercury-Neptune-squared, indiscreet Mr. Trump, our very own Eclipse Baby whining and sulking in the Oval.

Perpetual War Proceeds: please enlarge the horoscope to read my scribbled astro-notes concerning America's upcoming Mars Return which perfects on May 22, 2017 at 2:42:42 pm edt Washington DC (return chart based on natal chart: USA July 4, 1776 5:09 pm LMT Philadelphia, Pennsylvania).

As you see, warrior Mars conjoins Midheaven (MC) for all the world to see (Mr. Trump and his first overseas tour?) while transit Saturn @26Sag10 Rx conjoins the IC and has been opposing US natal Mars off and on since December 2016 and will do so again including a Direct Station @21Sag11 a few days after The Great American Eclipse of August 21, 2017 @29Leo (hitting Mr. Trump's natal Ascendant and royal Regulus and singeing his natal Mars @26Leo), a rare 'cosmic blink' event which will be visible from West Coast to East--and which can be seen here conjunct the 12th cusp of this return chart--the 12th house of karma, self-undoing, politics, large institutions, and backroom deals:

As for aspects to and from Mars (the star of this show) its only applying aspect is the opposition to Saturn, however, the Moon (the public) sextiles activist Mars (2A14) which denotes opportunities for self-reliance, discipline, but also compassion to be shown. Holding back or repressing feelings in order to conform is a possibility as is having the wisdom to avoid conflict. Others are accommodated until the sense of fairness is violated or some other provocation triggers a firm stand and battle is entered.

A very prominent aspect is Tr Saturn opposing natal Mars: resistance, frustration, gridlock. Chart-ruler Mercury @6Tau51 in 8th house of Corporatism makes no applying aspects (or any other) and is out-of-bounds; radical Utopian Uranus continues its lurch through Mars-ruled Aries where it is joined by Venus, the lady traveling with asteroids Isis and Toro, a power asteroid that hints at nuclear power. Bucket handle Jupiter @13Lib41 Rx rises in 1st house offering some measure of protection (as ruler of 4th house, Saturn, and 7th house) while conjoining US natal Saturn (a partial lifting of burdens).

Saturn and Uranus trine one another and, with North Node, form a Fire 'Grand Trine' of protection and connection which suggests those with many plans for the future but who may also demand loyalty from others. (If this sounds like Mr. Trump, it's meant to.) The aspect is a natal echo from America's 1776 Saturn-Uranus trine (then in Air: Libra-Gemini) which is/was compatible with future generations of Americans who can/could easily identify with our original form of authority. Our government's current perpetual war stance? Not so much.

Now a few quick words about Venus @16Ari33 since she's traveling with asteroids Isis and with Toro, a power asteroid that hints of nuclear power potential--in the 7th house of Partners and Open Enemies. Those are the few quick words.

CNN has published an interactive feature The Many Paths from Trump to Russia yet there are two Sabian Symbols in Donald Trump's natal horoscope that point, not to Russia, but to China. Of course, it may be that these symbols can apply to any foreign governments and his dealings with them.

For plainly Mr. Trump is certainly shaking things up the world over and stirring up chaos in the US just as Uranus, oriental planet (last to rise before the Sun) likes to do. Mr. Trump's disruptive natal Uranus @18Gemini is posited in his public 10th house of Career...

Natal Uranus: '18Gemini' = "Two Chinese Men Talking Chinese in a Western Crowd"...DIFFERENCE: positive expression: the effective mobilization of self and others for life's more specialized objectives; negative (shadow side--jc): a thorough dissipation of selfhood through alien relationships."

Okay, so his chaos-creating Uranus, the radical eccentric, 'leads' the nation but it's his natal Moon (conjunct his South Node opposite natal Sun) that may turn out to be an even bigger issue:

Natal Moon: '22Sagittarius' = "A Chinese Laundry"...SECLUSION: positive: an unusual gift for maintaining poise and self-perspective in every unfamiliar or alien situation (really? jc); negative (shadow side): unnecessary acceptance of self-inferiority." (The Sabian Symbols in Astrology, M. E. Jones). So he constantly needs approval to bolster his sense of inferiority which accounts for at least some of his over-the-top boasting. Ex: boasting about US intel to the two Russians he allowed into the Oval Office.

Now assuming that the American people make it through May, June, and July in one piece, we have steamy August and The Great American Eclipse to navigate as does Mr. Trump (the August 21st eclipse @29Leo hits his natal Ascendant and singes his warring and belligerent Mars) for the month of August 2017 will be Full of Karmic Returns for the occupant of the Oval Office--and thus, for the American people via Donald Trump, aka, the blabber-in-chief.

The US Constitution's Progressed New Moon 2018

Near the halfway point of the Trump presidential term the midterm elections in the US are scheduled for November 6, 2018. All House seats will be up for grabs and 34 of the Senate seats are to be contested as well as some state and territorial Governorships.

With current debates over whether or not the US is in a constitutional crisis created by Mr. Trump (and some say it is not, it's a political crisis) over his tweeted intimidation of FBI Director James Comey earlier this week, I noticed what to me seems an interesting if not curious synchronicity: that the Secondary Progressions (SP) of the US Constitution's foundation horoscope (September 17, 1787 4:00 pm LMT Philadelphia, PA) reveal an SP New Moon which perfects on November 5, 2018 @16Tau03 and seeds the beginning of a new cycle.

And when the 230-year-old US Constitution's 5 South Prenatal Solar Eclipse (PE) of June 15, 1787 (chart shown, below) 'progresses' to the next Saros Series, it's the 6 North which in real time manifested on December 7, 1787 (day-for-a-year). Both 5 South and 6 North have appropriate themes for cyclical events that concern the US Constitution and thus for the US government. Curiously, the Trump presidential bid announcement in 2015 is also involved:

The curious nature concerns the fact that this 1787 Gemini Solar Eclipse was conjoined or stimulated on June 16, 2015 by a New Moon @25Gem07 and transit Mars (Mr. Trump's rising planet) @24Gem35. The New Moon perfected that morning as Donald Trump lowered himself down the escalator of Trump Tower to announce his bid for the presidency of the United States to a paid audience hired through an actors' employment agency ($50 per head). And perhaps you're familiar with the Sabian Symbol for '25Gemini': "A Man Trimming Palms"!

US Constitution's Secondary Progressed (SP) New Moon

Now progressing the US Constitution's chart to May 2017 shows its current soli-lunar phase to be balsamic, a dark-of-the-moon stage of transition, a seed state turned toward the future (Rudhyar) and with a prophetic feeling of finality. If Americans now feel "possessed by a social destiny" (or, victims of our often-touted 'Manifest Destiny' as the US military drains our coffers and conquers the world) this may describe one reason for it because what would our nation be without the US Constitution? Rudderless, I should think. And coup'd by plutonic forces which have always manipulated our government from abroad (US 1776 Pluto out of bounds).

Symbolically upcoming on November 5, 2018--one day prior to the 2018 Midterm Elections--is the SP New Moon of the US Constitution. In its chart, below, you see the SP New Moon @16Tau03, the US Inaugural Ascendant (14Taurus+ = Oath of Office) conjunct the 8th cusp, and dissolving Neptune Rx and rising:

A quick peek at the natal horoscope of Italian dictator Benito Mussolini (in power from 1922 to 1945) shows his Ascendant-Descendant axis to be 20Scor31/20Tau31. On May 10, 2017 a Full Moon occurred @20Sco24 on the very day that Mr. Trump fired FBI Director James Comey (with the Full Moon phase signifying a culmination of some kind). Since yesterday, calls for an independent prosecutor into the Republican administration's Trump-Russia connections have grown louder as would be expected due to the nontraditional use of such a strong-arm tactic. And since Full Moons (and New Moons) can affect, disrupt, and/or change direction of events in similar fashion to 'wild card' Uranian eclipses, it seems significant that a Full Moon @21Scorpio should trigger the natal chart of El Duce especially since some people have called Mr. Trump a dictator wannabe.

And here's a mildly nauseous stunner involving Mussolini's natal Mars @13Gem08: Mars is the aggressive planet of war and contention, and the combative planet that rises in Donald Trump's natal chart (along with royal Regulus, keywords: success if revenge is avoided--otherwise all that's been gained will be lost--Brady). Mussolini's Mars Return occurred in tandem with the Full Moon of May 10, 2017 at 4:05 pm in his home town in Italy but perfected at 10:05 am edt May 10th when the Return chart is set for Washington DC--and would indicate a new cycle of activity if he were alive. As it is, perhaps he only sat up in his grave and applauded for Donald Trump.

Transit Pluto in Capricorn has been trodding upon Mr. Comey's natal Saturn (karmic planet of authority, control, accountability, directorship) indicating a period when past actions affect the present, structures and traditions may be altered or permanently transformed, and abuse of authority is engaged in--or encountered. Also the current Solar Eclipse of February 26, 2017 @8Pis12 conjoins Comey's natal South Node so that a break or some sort of separation in relationship has a rather loud karmic ring if those relationships are not strong enough to stand the strain. They were not.

Actually, we've already discussed karmic transits to Mr. Comey's natal planets and to the FBI natal chart way back on November 1, 2016 which is around the time of the November 8, 2016 Election when Mr. Trump apparently began to consider the firing of FBI Director James Comey. Why, it's almost as if Trump knew the fix was in.

Mr. Donald J. Trump was born on June 14, 1946 at 10:54 am edt in Queens, New York. As the Cosmos would have it, a Lunar Eclipse perfected that very day at 2:41:36 pm edt @23Sag04 making him an 'eclipse baby'. As you see in the Lunar Eclipse horoscope, the Moon opposes the 24Gem04 Sun and represents a culmination phase to his Prenatal Solar Eclipse of May 30, 1946 @8Gem48 in the 2 Old North Saros Series (endings and separations--Brady) which conjoins America's natal Uranus (8:55).

Below, you see the Lunar Eclipse chart on the day of his birth; please enlarge to read some basic notes concerning Mr. Trump, an "eclipse baby" with unconscious, inherited habits and attitudes that are difficult (impossible, apparently) for him to recognize in himself which then makes it impossible for him to improve upon such habits--even the ones that are no longer practical in the here-and-now or that fail to lead to the results he wants:

Having quirky maverick Uranus in opposition to the eclipse Moon increases the chances of disruption in all things lunar: home, family, relationships, public relations, emotional security. As we've seen, the man is always ready for a fight (Mars rising) and likes to stir up trouble even where none exists. These qualities are in addition to his 2 Old North Solar Eclipse themes which already denote separations and the endings of unions. Then his Sagittarian Moon suggests a changeable nature that can be moody and superficial, and can fall suddenly into despondency when negatively triggered.

As you know, a Sag Moon can be egotistical, arrogant, narrow-minded, sectarian, and may think it's superior to everyone else. Identifying with certain social values for unconscious emotional reasons, Mr. Trump lacks objectivity when considering social issues and though he aspires to lofty goals, he lacks a realistic view of life.

Mommy issues at birth and later on are also suggested here with an out-of-bounds Moon (was Mum emotionally detached from little Donny? or perhaps ill or absent?) which conjoins the separative South Node (of the Moon). His Moon-SN also hints at bad timing and difficulty contacting his emotions. Thinking, dealing Mercury and manipulative power broker and Underworld figure Pluto, the saboteur, are also OOBs of the earthly plane and off doing who knows what with their qualities functioning quite unconsciously for Mr. Trump who is susceptible to his unconscious and needy lunar issues--so desperate for approval and respect.

Now as you see, the houses of his planets in the Lunar Eclipse chart differ from those of his natal horoscope and my suggestion is to read this chart 'as if' it's his natal chart (which it almost is--same day) to gain more insight for it is certainly of influence. Here the Moon rules his 10th house of Career and Public Status and the sign of one's Moon signifies the reigning need (Tyl) which, for Donald Trump, means Jupiter-ruled Sagittarian themes such as freedom, wanderlust, idealism, expansion, the broadening of vistas, and boundary crossing. So he deals with the difficult Gemini Solar Eclipse themes in his life through the lens of Sagittarius via the energies of this particular Lunar Eclipse. And since the Lunar Eclipse is in the 3rd house of Communications, we both know how keen he is on expressing himself without boundaries or restraints: in speeches and rallies, and in tweets to the world (no middle men).

Karmic planet Saturn now transits through Sagittarius and visits off and on this Lunar Eclipse degree. Simultaneously, Saturn contacts fixed stars Ras Alhague and Lesath which are triggered (22--24Sag) and made prominent by their conjunction with Trump's Prenatal Lunar Eclipse. Actually, we've discussed Mr. Trump's Moon-SN-Ras Alhague trio and Saturn's visitation previously but the keywords for Lesath (Upsilon Scorpii; sting of the scorpion's tail) should be noted: potential for accidents, catastrophes, or surgeries such as appendectomies or hemorrhoid removal (Ebertin-Hoffmann); acids, danger, desperation, immorality (deVore).

Now along with his out-of-bounds Mercury (what will he say or tweet next?), this Lunar Eclipse chart describes only a part of the complex psyche now residing (part time) in the White House but it can reveal some of the unconscious urges, habits, and attitudes that are 'in control' of our nation at the present time. Those born with major links to eclipses lead eventful and often public lives and I believe eclipse baby Trump's Lunar Eclipse chart tells of a broadcaster and promoter of Jupiterian proportions who does not, or is unable to, realize just how much unconscious information he shares with the world (gives away) each time he opens his mouth or tweets his thoughts at us. His deeper motivations are not as hidden as he believes, and to cap it all, Mr. Trump's fantasy-prone loose-lips/indiscretion tendencies are ably described by a problematic Mercury-Neptune square with its deceit, cunning, and mis-perceptions of a *sneaky mind.

*Mercury-Neptune square = The Sneaky Mind--Alan Oken. He adds that, "A conscious redirection on the part of the individual can result in a realignment of this or any other challenging aspect." Yet an ability for conscious redirection is what's difficult to impossible for Mr. Trump whose level of self-awareness at age 70 is seriously in doubt and must unfortunately affect our nation with what some say is his lunacy. Lunacy! Something that ramps up, say police departments, on a Full Moon!

However, there is a professional opinion that Trump Isn't Crazy so to be fair, there's that.

Still, it turns out that Strange Things Do Happen at a Full Moon...and on June 14, 1946, one of those strange things was the birth of the very intense Donald J. Trump, an inflated Jupiterian of vast proportions who jumps from the skillet into the fire at every opportunity which keeps the 24/7 news cycle on its toes.
