How encouraged I am that thousands of Americans (and hopefully no police department 'plants' embedded with protesters with a mission to cause trouble and discredit peaceful Occupiers) are occupying the US Congress and elsewhere today thanks to travesties of SCOTUS justice like Citizens United!
If I had a chance, I'd join them in my former city of residence and add my voice to the throng of citizens no longer under the illusion that certain anti-government operatives, who now act as members of Congress, have no intention of upholding official oaths taken to dutifully carry out the functions of their various offices in allegiance to the sovereign nation they serve and on behalf of the constituency they allegedly answer to.
January 18, 2012: Blackout Day! Save the Internet, Beat Back Corporate Raptors!
Today you can hear all about SOPA and the fight against censorship of the Internet in its current disguise as SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) which the US Senate is to vote upon on January 24, 2012 by visiting progressive broadcaster Thom Hartmann.
Thom and his skillful, plucky staff broadcast today using two laptops and a camera due to a plumbing leak above their regular studio in Washington DC. Kudos all around! (And it couldn't have been sabotage, of course! In DC? Pshaw!)
Yes, this draconian corporate ploy to take-over the Internet will, among many other things, throttle free speech online and continue the transnational drive to commercialize, privatize, and destroy all institutions and functions of our society that are meant to protect the Common Good--here, by censoring what is or isn't published or accessible on the Internet.
Is corporate censorship and re-directs the types of experiences you want as you go about your business online, fellow Americans? Many of our favorite blogs may simply go pouf! forever with nary a trace. A challenging stand-off is clearly upon us in the current form of SOPA v We the People.
Now I have groused in the past about how America was founded upon a corporate structure model (monarchistic Old World/British financial system), perhaps unfairly for it's true that what was necessary in the 1770s may not be precisely what is needed now unless it is done with integrity.
Astrologically we might look at US natal South Node (of the Moon, We the People), a point denoting past behaviors, some of which no longer work in present circumstances and so must be ID'd as 'neurotic'. The negative side of Aquarius? Detachment, cold feelings, an overly rational approach, and other such things as we've seen recently demonstrated during the 2012 Republican debates--often, by booing audiences!
But SN also denotes inherited talents or weaknesses--every case is individual, so the humanitarian sign of Aquarius, with its edgy, super-rational sides of Science, Objectivism, and Futurism, contains America's natal Moon if we use July 4, 1776 as our nation's day of founding. An interesting horoscope forms with Moon at MC (18AQ21) if we wish to consider a natal chart for Government of-by-for We The People. On July 4, 1776, Luna reached MC in Philadelphia (according to my Astrology software which may be off a bit due to earthquakes, Moon wobbles, two centuries passing, etc) but it's tallying in for Moon conj MC at 2:33:45 am LMT, with ASC 12Gem22 and a rising Uranus (8Gem53), America's totem planet of freedom, revolution, and such, so it's an ability to cope with anything picture when Uranus rises (as FDR has natally.)
This puts the explosive Mars/Uranus duo rising at 2:42 am LMT on that date, so that it conjoined the Ascendant and created a mdpt picture of its own: Mars/Uranus = ASC: upsetting events; arrest (as mentioned above); physical injury; excitable people; committing acts of violence. (Ebertin.)

Mars Returns for Presidents, Too

Saturday January 14, 2012, marked the first of three returns of transiting Mars to President Obama's natal Mars position 22Virgo35, a 'three-fer' Mars Return for the president, the effects of which will last for the 2-year cycle (orbit) of the warring planet of action, aggression, quarrels, and desire nature.
When Mars returns to natal position, a rush of energy returns to the native and a new cycle of activity begins as the natal condition of Mars is emphasized. Hopefully, an injection of Martian testosterone will not be sent hurling bwo missiles or bombs from the Pentagon or White House toward other nations.
With Mr. Obama ('BHO') having Mars veiled by America's natal Neptune 22Vir25, we may expect the 'rock star' vibes of Mars/Neptune to be in evidence on some level even while the combo's disappointment and disillusionment influences continue to bedevil a Democratic presidency under siege from a GOP that, as usual, believes that only one of its minions is suitable to steer the White White helm.

Mercury @ 19Can55 recalls the 12 South Solar Eclipse 19Can24 of July 11, 2010 with its financial stress, delays in financial progress, and market fluctuations; this was a South Node eclipse so energy drained out rather than rushed in--though the capping of the BP-Deepwater Horizon blowout seemed to be taken care of 4 days after the eclipse. (Last I heard, BP oil is still leaking into the Gulf but other oil disasters and the Fukushima Meltdown have occurred since.)

Mother-in-law issues may be on the White House menu as well though even BHO's political enemies shouldn't wish that on him if they know how karma tends to come back atcha!

Saturday January 14, 2012, marked the first of three returns of transiting Mars to President Obama's natal Mars position 22Virgo35, a 'three-fer' Mars Return for the president, the effects of which will last for the 2-year cycle (orbit) of the warring planet of action, aggression, quarrels, and desire nature.
When Mars returns to natal position, a rush of energy returns to the native and a new cycle of activity begins as the natal condition of Mars is emphasized. Neptune in Pisces = Pineal Gland concerns?
Neptune in Pisces, the Pineal Gland, and Our Dissolving Willpower

Since boundary-dissolving Neptune will soon dip its toe once again into the deep waters of Pisces (on or about February 3, 2012) for a long-winded swim (until 2024/25), the planet's astrological association with the human body's light-affected pineal gland ('third eye'/intuitive function) seems due for quite a bit of attention since we will be affected on a global scale.
An increase of environmental issues and damages to lose sleep over may be noted as our brains' melatonin production lowers and may need a *supplemental boost.
Studies show calcification in the pineal gland from use of fluoridated water as noted in Fluoride: Calcifier of the Soul, an interesting title considering Neptune's link to spirituality and The Divine Source, as denoted in Astrology.
Recent travels of Chiron (the Wounded Healer; the Wound) in tandem with transiting Neptune brought us the earthquake/tsunami in Japan and the Fukushima Nuclear Meltdown in 2011 with radiation continuing in 2012 to leak into the Pacific Ocean, the realm of Neptune. Thus the boundaries of our DNA are weakened and breached on a cellular level, and environmental issues become more confusing yet more critical for all of mankind.
Of course, calcification is a Saturnian process, a hardening, and the blend of Saturn with Neptune indicates 'the chronic and unhampered progress of malady, organic decomposition, undermining circumstances that lead to illness', says Ebertin, along with 'poor, sick, depressed persons' and 'diseases with causes difficult to ascertain'. (Neptune's cycle lasts approximately 164 years.) This historical info hints at what sort of trends and conditions to expect during the current planetary transit.

Several events listed for 1847 have Neptunian flavors to them. One such is July 10 when Leverrier and Adams, the co-discoverers of Neptune, met for the first time at the home of John Herschel, son of William Herschel, discoverer of erratic Uranus (1781.)

That its laudable attempts at protecting the American people have been adulterated through the decades making 'food and drug safety' in the US debatable (if it exists at all) is a Neptunian disappointment of toxic proportions and we are certain to hear more revelations of poisonings by the food, agricultural, nuclear, chemical, and other industries as Neptune lumbers slowly through its own watery realm of Pisces.
Of course, there's also the well-known connection of astrological Pluto to nuclear power, control, and waste disposal--and pipelines-- but today's post is written in honor of Neptune making a tremendously important ingress into its own sign which will soon come to pass whether we're ready or not.
With 2012 Upon Us
Naturally, the projected construction (Saturn) of Canada's Keystone XL Pipeline comes to mind with its potentials for gas and chemical leaks and the controversial, chemically-infused fracking process which threatens US water sources if the pipeline is built. Neptune's use as A Veil for secrets is on tap along with its scandalous implications of Neptunian fraud, deceit, and neglectful policies that can easily lead to lousy maintenance conditions and even to sabotage.
My personal conclusion about these difficult issues is that anything we can do to boost our and our family members' immune systems should be on top of our 2012 agenda! And please note these cautions: be careful when participating in water sports and when traveling in, on, or over bodies of water for mysterious conditions may be present--and beware gas leaks and oily schemers...

Occurring during the final days prior to the public reading of the Declaration of Independence (and its partial signing on July 4, 1776, the date America's founding fathers seemed to have preferred us to celebrate as Independence Day) is a Full Moon @10Cap12 (Sun 10Can12 on July 1, 1776, a lunation which was recently 'eclipsed' or triggered by a Solar Eclipse @9Can12 on July 1, 2011.)
Below is displayed our Syzygy Moon horoscope with some rather messy chart details added by yours truly; please click image to enlarge; according to my SolarFire software, this Full Moon became exact at 10:30:06 am LMT Philadelphia, PA, and is the last lunation prior to our nation's birth (pre-July 4, 1776):

Because progressing the US 'Sibly' natal horoscope (July 4, 1776 5:10 pm LMT) results in a Secondary Full Moon @4Vir10 on December 24, 2008 and as we experienced, this timed the limits of our financial growth with the crescendo of the Bush-Cheney Financial Collapse 2008 presenting us with a major freak-out in December 2008. If it passes then subversive, controlling string-puller Pluto in staid Capricorn will win and we will lose a larger chunk of our republic and our right to exercise free speech than we may yet appreciate.

As Benjamin Franklin replied to a shouted question as he left the Constitutional Convention on September 18, 1787 about whether America had ended up with a Republic or a Monarchy:
"A republic, if you can keep it."
This of course echoes the early rift between John Adams-Alexander Hamilton monarchists v the democracy championed by the Jefferson-Paine-Franklin-Madison alliance & their anti-King-George-III colleagues.
Yet since December 1913, the British-style Banking System rules the US government through the Federal Reserve System which is neither federal nor reserve-holding.
And so if we fast forward to modern Washington DC, Campaign 2012, political promises that will miss their mark, and actual consequences of political policies and decisions, many people note that there's little if any difference between Democrats and Republicans, and with this I must agree. Why, it's almost as if the power elites of Washington DC are not the real and final arbitrators of our concerns, you know? CRaZy!
And since the GOP is the prime party of monarchists in the US, our allowing headstrong Republicans to take control of the White House helm and bullhorn once again (so soon!) seems to me more grievous and damaging to our tattered Republic than what a sane people with scales fallen from their eyes should reasonably and self-interestedly allow.

At about 8:45 pm est, Mitt "I like to fire people" Romney was announced as the victor in today's New Hampshire primaries which was the predictable outcome for this former Bain Capital financial 'hitman' who signed pink slips hand over greedy fist during his years running the corporation and predictably boosted the company's bottom line. Legend has it, Mitt created a few jobs, too. Hmm.
And yes, his "I like to fire people" remark of January 9, 2012 has been taken out of context in order to hoist Mitt upon his own corporate spear of destiny.
Or was he pooshed?

My Lousiest News award for Jan 6, 2012
The upcoming US-Israeli war maneuvers are being touted by both governments as the world's biggest ever!
And certain transglobal warmongering chaos-creators actually seem happy over this dramatic turn of events which the US government in collusion with most of Congress and the business and weapons industries will soon remind us of the heady days when Dubs Bush lied us into war in Iraq and his case turned out to hinge on the credibility of Colin Powell's U.N. presentation.
And on Americans wanting to believe in their president's motives in spite of all evidence not supporting our trust.
So who do you think will play the 'Colin Powell-respected military leader' role in 2012 as Washington stirs itself into a tizzy over Iran's intentions (so they say) and imagines it has convinced the American people of some very deluded, fevered visions of the 1% Gang who are apparently "riding again" and wanting to force We the People into yet another Vulcan hellishness of an illegal, vulgar war--as if that little expansion project would be a good and sane idea.
But who benefits most?
Well, any of the two or three American citizens reading this post who are not recognizing Washington's military campaign for what it is--a long term attempt at Global Governance directed by entities abroad (ex: Citizens United 2010 brings big time foreign investors into US elections, aka, meddling), please stop reading here because I am truly done. For now.

New Years Day 2012: dead body @ Queen Elizabeth's estate
New Year 2012 Murder in the UK: Who Will Question the Queen?

On New Years Day 2012, mayhem was discovered--a woman's dead body turned up in the woodlands in or near the grounds of Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham estate where the royals partied over the weekend to welcome New Year 2012.
Since hunting and horse-riding are favorite royal pursuits at Sandringham perhaps *Adriano Carelli's degree symbol for the Sun on January 1st--the Solar Return date for 2012 to the horoscope of modern UK's founding on Jan 1, 1801 12:00 am -1:00 (historical record) will apply as the UK's 211th birthday is imprinted by a mysterious (last I heard--perhaps more will come out) death of a female, as it's been reported (see article links, below.)
Carelli gives what I believe is a quite-applicable symbol for '11 Capricorn', the rounded-up degree of the UK's natal Sun--and of the Sun's degree on the day the remains were found:
"A king wearing the crown and seated on the throne receives an envelope from a messenger or an ambassador."
"A minor feature of this influence is fondness for horsemanship," says Carelli, along with mention of secrecy, reserve, worldly wisdom, cunning, diplomacy and, "--if need be, double-dealing." Well, yes. Monarchy and Politics can be a lethal combo at times, can't it?
Carelli adds that '11Cap' is the degree of equidistance (his Sun/Moon midpoint) of Lloyd George who was, among other things, Britain's senior representative in Paris at the Treaty of Versailles negotiations and signing.
Queen Elizabeth II
Comparing the natal and progressed charts of Queen Elizabeth II (as rep for the UK itself) with a horoscope set for Sandringham Norfolk, 12 am on January 1, 2012, there are astro-links galore all of which I do not have time to detail for you here.
There are, however, indications of passion (Venus/Mars) on the scene (in the New Years Day 2012 chart) and unhealthy romantic attachments, or, deceiving or a deceptive woman (tr Venus opposite QEII's natal Neptune), no-win situations and people dropping in unannounced (tr Venus opposite her n Moon in partying Leo), and potentials for danger, disastrous encounters, disrupted gatherings (tr Mars opposite n Uranus) or even violence. (See QEII's natal Sun degree, just below.)
And with tr Saturn opposing her natal Sun these days, any failure to live up to past promises comes back to haunt her now. And of course, these transits probably apply somewhere in her experience whether she knows about the mysterious body or not. Its discovery in proximity to the Royal Family's Sandringham estate may be only a coincidence.
(Interestingly, the Queen's natal Sun 00Tau12 was recently conjoined by Jupiter's Direct Station on Dec 25, 2011 @ 00Tau22, with '00-1Tau' being 'degrees of violence', according to how aggressively Adolf Hitler acted every time his natal Sun at that degree was triggered during his salad days--'Hitler's trigger degree" which relates to actions based on ego concerns.)
Yet the Queen's war time experiences may be all that is denoted by her having natal Sun in the 00-1 Tau range though we may wish to note her family's true origins in Germany (the 'Windsor' family name only goes back to 1917.)
Applause Applause!
Plus, Queen E's natal Moon--the reigning need, says Noel Tyl--is in Leo 12:07--indicating one born with a bottomless pit in the approval-applause-appreciation department, plus, as you know, royal Leo is the 'natural ruler' sign which is ruled by the Sun...ego.
My guess is that all the royal pageantry in her life suits the lady's emotional needs as seen by how Elizabeth took to her sudden turn at rulership like a hungry duck on a junebug intent on satisfying its reigning need for sustenance.
Surprising Surmising?
Did an old love return to haunt one of the royals? Was the departed lady a guard or an agent on the castle's or the government's payroll? Or a messenger? (a la '11Cap' noted above.) Well, the January 1, 2012 chart set for Sandringham @ 12:00 am shows transit Moon in Taurus precisely opposite Elizabeth's natal Saturn in powerful Scorpio at Midheaven (Sco)--Saturn @ natal MC = a monarch.
Will someone's authority, security, stability, or the status quo (Saturn) be challenged (opposition) by a woman, by The People, or by media curiosity (Moon = women; the populace; publicity) as the Moon reflects her natal and ruling Saturn posited at the very pinnacle (MC = Goal; Aspiration; Public Status; Career, across the 4/10 'security' axis. Her Nibs possesses an Angular Saturn expressing facets of mature authority--functioning authoritatively--on the world stage) as shown in her natal horoscope and issuing from her inner psyche and Saturn's gift of longevity has merited Queen Elizabeth II her celebratory Jubilee.
That's due to the fact that she has never stinted on doing her duty though this much of Saturn's coldness may be difficult in personal relationships with children feeling the adult's icy personality most deeply in many cases.
Year 2012 minus 12 years = Year 2000
Then there's royal Jupiter's recent station on Elizabeth's natal Sun spotlighting a time when one mustn't get carried away with one's own self importance and self-indulgence may be prominent (a New Years Eve party extraordinaire?); plus, Jupiter-to-natal- Sun marks a period when an endeavor begun twelve years before must either move forward expansively, or come to an end.
Now two chart factors that 'pop out' at me in Elizabeth's Secondary Progressions is Sec ASC = Sec Saturn/Pluto: being placed in cumbersome or difficult circumstances (ex: a dead body turning up on one's property especially when one values one's privacy and security so very very much); separation; mourning and bereavement.
Additionally, Sec ASC = Sec Venus/Mars (passion!): a lively expression of feelings. (Ebertin.)
Let's hope that for the Royal Family and their possible involvement in this mysterious event, that someone's emotional 'expression' wasn't lively enough to cause another's sad bereavement.
However the case may be, I am merely astrologizing here so how about a few early January links to The Guardian's more factual coverage of this remains in woodlands mystery?
For a lighter diversion, let's start with Jan 1, 2012 as artist David Hockney to be awarded the Order of Merit--he who Once Upon a Time refused to paint Elizabeth II or to accept a knighthood;
Jan 2: the Queen's "best diamonds" to go on display in honor of her 50-year jubilee--longer than Maggie Thatcher's reign who had natal Saturn--also in Scorpio--rising and conjunct Ronald Reagan's natal Jupiter in mid-Scorpio;
Jan 3: Sandringham murder inquiry launched after body discovered;
Jan 4: DNA being checked against that of missing women of foreign origins.
So far, I have not found mention of how long the woman's remains were around and we'll see as the year proceeds whether this news will be only a blip on the screen of royal info control--or, if Britain's royal family members know absolutely nothing about the matter.
Or some explanation in between.
Oops! There is one more factor I shall note: a Sabian Symbol that is activated in the Queen's current Progressions:
Sec ASC '27Gemini' = "A Gypsy Coming Out of the Forest Gazes at Far Cities"...or, perhaps gazing from the woodlands at a far castle?
