Was the Great Seal's Eye of Horus Reversed for Propaganda Purposes?

And this is one of my concerns over a mysterious change to a symbol and the increasing public interest in the reverse side America's Great Seal with its 13-step pyramid and floating capstone's All-Seeing Eye of Horus. Some suggest that we're in the midst of a paradigm shift of consciousness which relates to a more feminine perspective in the collective unconscious as we 'lean forward' ("Hillary in 2016"??) and this may be true.

But the left-right brain hemispheres figure in as well along with the control of right eye-left eye. Why is this significant to America's Great Seal symbolism?

On July 13, 1856, artist, historian, and contributor to Harper's New Monthly Magazine, Benson Lossing, illustrated the reverse of the Great Seal with the All-Seeing Eye (of Horus, or, as America's Founding Fathers tended to call it, the Eye of Providence) but instead of publishing the image with the usual right eye (controller of our left-brain rational functions such as critical thinking and logic), Lossing drew the symbol on the capstone as a left eye indicating right-brain intuitive, feminine, non-verbal functions. The left eye represents what philosophers have long called The Window to the Soul for it reveals our true identities. In Astrology, the natal Moon sign signifies this along with childhood memories and the Unconscious. Of interest to those who appreciate Astrology's revealing capability is that the Sun (right eye, consciousness)--Moon (left eye, unconsciousness) blend which was in effect on July 13, 1856. Upon inspection, the Sun-Moon blend turns out to be Sun in ocean-related, Moon-ruled Cancer, and Moon in occult-loving, mystical Scorpio. Plus, in his book The Combination of Stellar Influences, Reinhold Ebertin gives the Sun-Moon combo as, The Eyes!

July 13, 1856: Sun Cancer-Moon Scorpio is a Water-Water blend which acts on the intuitive-feeling-imaginative level of consciousness which is misty-eyed, emotional, and nostalgic for the past. Was a subliminal signal being sent to the American people to subtly influence how we receive and process information? Well, we know we're one of the most propagandized populations in history, right? Or perhaps the signaled change was intended more for those who were involved in occult (hidden) activities? Was it time to change how the public was being fed information?

Or perhaps the switch was merely a slip or two of an artist's pen though for publication you'd think Mr. Lossing, who must have been quite detail-oriented, would have been much more careful with a national symbol, now wouldn't you?

113th Congress' natal chart: Sun-Pluto = Mc

Major Update Jan 1, 2013: Pardon! Due to a date mishap where I'd heard in recent weeks that the 113th Congress would swear in on January 3, it turns out that their oaths will be taken on Friday Janaury 4, 2013 instead. Therefore, you may read the following post based on 'Janaury 3' or, you may wish to stay tuned for a new post concerning the 113th's January 4th horoscope. How much will change astrologically from one day to the next remains to be seen but of course some changes such as the Moon's position will be notable. Thanks! Jude

The image below shows the natal horoscope of the 113th Congress of the United States of America which opens on January 3, 2013 at noon est on Capitol Hill. Its Ascendant, the Congress itself, brings up the transiting Jupiter-Neptune (speculators, spendthrifts, wastrels, frausters, grand schemers, and the Grand Spirit) midpoint which gives a hint of the 113th's character though not all members may be thus described by the duo's negative tones (we hope):

Jupiter-Neptune = ASC: living in a world lighted by personal imagination, or, an emotionally rationalized agenda. (Mdpt pics today are from Noel Tyl's book, Solar Arcs.)

Penned around the outside of the chart are America's natal placements from the 'Sibly' chart of July 4, 1776 5:10 pm LMT--as you see, Jupiter Rx @7Gem31 in 2nd house of the National Treasury will again conjoin US natal Uranus 8Gem55, as discussed in previous posts; North Node (NN 24Sco45) points to the 8th cusp and house of Shared Resources, Debt, Credit, Insurance, Legacies, Transformation, etc, and is ruled by the 8th H's natural rulers, forceful Mars and powerful Pluto:

If the 113th gavela in on time at noon, it's an Hour of the Moon, suitable for changes and for newly elected congressmembers to take their seats, some of whom are women (Moon.) Publicity is involved as are security needs, real estate, and other realms associated with the astrological Moon including milk (Farm Bill? $8 milk?)

As you see, there's another major midpt picture at Mc (Midheaven, The Goal Point of any chart) which has potential for:

Other midpt pics may be useful to consider though I shall not list them all in this post, then we'll look at the applying aspects of chart-ruler Mars (conflict; action; energy; warring factions, etc, to see how things may proceed for the country under the sway of the 113th Congress--note that Mars @6AQ48 conjoins US natal SN, a Saturnian point of separation and of past behaviors.

Challenger Mars is also the planet apex of 4 midpts: Pluto/Chiron (with its oppressive plutocracy and disenfranchisement vibes), Sun-Neptune, Neptune/Mc, and NN/ASC, detailed below) to see how things may proceed for the country under the sway of the 113th Congress and whatever secret austerity plans the radical Utopians (Uranus in Aries) will continue attempting to force upon us.

I know of no easy words to describe Pluto-Chiron = Mars though with America's SN involved, I suspect that past bad behaviors such as oppression, win-at-any-cost attitudes, and even primal violence will continue to be exhibited by the corrupt Washington politicians and the plutocrats who support them infest the District of Columbia and continue their plan to completely take over the US government and weaken it while ravaging all resources of our nation.

Let us hope progressives and populists are up to fighting the battle though I must add the Saturn-Neptune = Mercury implications of depression and pessimism, a factor affecting all who are signified by planet Mercury (including young people, students, traders, and deal-makers. Sadly, the combo of Saturn-Neptune relates to 'secret government' but also to grief and sorrow.)

113th Congress: How Things Will Go = two applying aspects of Mars:

1. Mars trine Jupiter Rx (0A43) which on one level describes the pay raises (2nd H) that President Obama has ordered for the 113th Congress and for other federal employees who've had pay freezes in place (Rx Jupiter.) Hope our congressmembers turn out to deserve such financial encouragement and that they'll do the people's business better than the unproductive 112th did!

2. Mars square Saturn (2A56), which denotes that activist Mars will run into frustrating obstacles, hard work, and delays brought on by lack of preparation and/or bad timing. The seniority and authority of others may be challenged or threatened which will be met unkindly, and trying to get around rules and regulations is to be avoided (word to the wise!) Why, even physical threats may be received. Necessary items may go missing when sought though they will probably turn up later.

Yes, Mars SQ Saturn shows that the old dictum experience is the best teacher fully applies to the whippersnappers of the 113th Congress. But of course, with the GOP's past behavior with its sour grapes-sore loser attitude, we must expect to see filibusters and other obstructive tactics meant to block any legislation that might make President Obama 'look good'.

Well, these are my brief astro-notes concerning the 113th Congress though many other chart factors will be of interest as the congressional session grinds along. My plan is to direct you back to this natal horoscope when major transits or events occur so perhaps you'll find the chart useful as you consider the madness and mischief of the US House and Senate circa 2013 and beyond.

The only horoscope I have in my files for the natal chart of the US Congress is an old one and I suspect that I only surmised the hour since things tended to get started at an early hour in the olden candle-lit days:

US Congress: November 17, 1800 '9:30 am' LMT with Sun 25Sco04 (the above NN and 8th cusp conjoins natal Sun! NN to Sun = new contacts are made--or, sworn in!) and Moon 6Sag17, a steamy Water-Fire combo of passion, commitment, self-dramatization, fanaticism, and intellectual discernment.

Synchronistically, natal NN @17Ari59 conjoins the ASC of the 113th Congress, and natal Jupiter @4Leo26 = US natal NN; plus, natal Uranus @00Lib47, a World Point of Manifestation, conjoins US Midheaven in our 'Sibly' natal chart and with tr Uranus in Aries since 2010, Congress has been in the midst of its Midlife Crisis, a time when one tends to behave uncharacteristically!

Of great concern is Congress' natal Pluto @2Pis16 (transformation, manipulation, power, control, and wealth) which is now being dissolved by tr Neptune in early Pisces, a time when the current system can be removed, traditional rules are changed, treachery is afoot, and power is eroded; a resort to poison isn't out of the question, though negative societal trends may be mitigated somewhat by the current behavior and attitudes of those directly involved and challenged--here, the 113th Congress!

Neptune in Pisces floats up mysterious drownings as Romney is booed in all the right places

Speaking of mystical Neptune now traversing its own oceanic sign of Pisces, on July 9, History Today published an article by *Christopher Winn on concerning Mysterious Drownings which spotlights the 190th anniversary of the drowning off the coast of Italy (July 8, 1822) of romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley.

Shelley, born August 4, 1792 @10:00 pm in Horsham, England, died age 29 which to astrologers denotes his leaving the earthly plane at his Saturn Return. Some have thought he may have committed suicide or that his boat was a victim of a pirate attack yet it seems certain that a squall at sea did hit and upturned the boat. In any case, he'd left (temporarily) wife Mary after yet another loss of child which smacks of running away from responsibilities, something which taskmaster Saturn does not appreciate. Honestly addressing one's responsibilities is a basic theme during times when Saturn returns to 'his' natal position.

Interestingly, Shelley's Saturn Return of May 9, 1822 shows sea-ruler Neptune Rx @ 5Cap00..."Indians Rowing a Canoe and Dancing a War Dance." (Jones.) Were the "Indians" Shelley and friend rowing what would soon be a capsized boat, or pirates on the attack? Who can say yet it's a tantalyzing picture to consider. Plus, in his Return chart, Neptune conjoined the planet of sudden events, Uranus Rx @7Cap05. '8Cap' = "Birds in the House Singing Happily" which may indicate the rebel was in a good mood before Neptunian tragedy struck by whatever means. And Shelley's death (Pluto) was ultimately a World Event with Pluto @00Ari28 (Aries Point) and rising in his 1822 Saturn Return chart.

As you know, Mary Shelley authored Frankenstein or, The Modern Prometheus, as Uranian a title and story arc as you'll ever find in literature--'sky god' Uranus is often referred to as, The Awakener, perfect for the cobbled-together Monster and the catalyst for life, electricity, all provinces of Uranus.

Both Mary and Percy were born with Sun-Uranus conjunctions, his in dramatic Leo, hers in book-writing Virgo which relates to their unorthodox alliance which broke societal boundaries by an elopement against her father's wishes (yet William Godwin continued to borrow money from Percy!) And with their Jupiters (how one relates) placed in opposite signs--his in Libra, hers in Aries across the Relationship axis--theirs was a romance 'written in the stars' as they say. Perhaps with his Sun-Uranus conjunction near his natal Venus in Leo added to her natal Mars in bookish Virgo near her Sun-Uranus, their willfulness in love (Mars-Venus) simply would not be denied.

Desperate Republicans and Wasteful Votes

Regular readers may note that up until now, this post contained no mention of Politics, arrogant politicians, or of the time and money wasting efforts yesterday of the Republican Party as they voted in the House of Representatives to repeal the Affordable Health Care Act of 2010 which was upheld as constitutional by SCOTUS on June 28, 2012. The GOP's 31st performance of Capitol Hill Political Theater shows our tax dollars not at work on behalf of the American people and I refuse to type much more about their sham for the moment as the jackassian politicians of Washington--including turncoat Democrats--continue undermining our national government (and state governments, for that matter) while making idiotic fools of themselves for the sake of the dumbleheaded, anti-social, anti-American ideology by which they hope to re-take the White House.

Yes, I must agree that current GOP ploys defy all reason and the only plan they seem to me to have is to cheat in November 2012 and play dirty tricks (such as Mitt Romney speaking to the NAACP yesterday so he could be booed to impress his 'base'--how simplistic and transparent!) All very Neptunian of them with the Party's natal Neptune @15Pis53 Rx in n 3rd house of Communications, and Neptune sextiles Uranus in stubborn Taurus (15:48) which forms a YOD (crisis pattern) with US natal Saturn 14Lib48...Uranus-Neptune = Saturn has potentials for: a clash among ambitions and projects; need for recognition; changes of direction; staying put causes depression and loss of confidence (Tyl.)

Additionally, the Republican Party's current progressed Ascendant @29Gem50, a critical-crisis 29th degree, shows a sense of desperation, and the Party's progressed Mercury @29Sco39 (voting; ideas; plans) is @29Sco39..."30Sco" = "The Halloween Jester" which may indicate an October Surprise on the GOP menu which is meant to sway the American people away from President Obama and toward the GOP's daft austerity measures. After all, Inauguration 2009's Moon (The People; the masses) remains at @29Sco45 until Inauguration 2013 rolls around when The People's Inaugural Moon will be posited in the much lighter sign of Gemini at noon--almost four hours from Mr. Obama's Lunar Return (back to the White House?) which occurs at 3:54 pm est on Monday, January 21, 2013.

The natal chart I use for the Republican Party: July 6, 1854 @5:00 pm LMT Jackson, MI, which shows natal Sun conjunct US natal Sun; plus, the Democratic Party's Moon in Aquarius conjoins US natal Moon....our Papa and Momma? Arghh! No wonder the two parties can't get along and are able to constantly and easily divide and conquer the American people's loyalties with the strain between Sun inconjunct Moon which is an echo from America's natal chart and psyche of July 4, 1776!

The YOD in Thomas Jefferson's Natal Chart

Post Updated April 10, 2012--see below for new info on apex Saturn; original post begins here:

Discovering that the natal horoscope of Thomas Jefferson is replete to overflowing with intriguing facets describing an intellectual giant of The Enlightenment, his natal chart has been an off-and-on study about the place and here I shall make mention of one primary--perhaps The Primary--personality dynamic in President Jefferson's psyche as denoted by his natal planets. (Birth data below.)

This important determinate for understanding a small sliver of TJ is the pattern of a YOD, like a squished down triangle with two sides 150 degr or thereabouts, and both aiming at an apex planet or planets, and in Mr. Jefferson's case, that would be his natal Saturn (sense of authority; maturity; government) Rx in 7th house of Partnerships/Legal Relationships, and posited @ 29Leo04 (conjunct Royal Star Regulus--success if revenge is avoided--and at a critical-crisis 29th degr.)

The sextiled planets at the base of the YOD are Uranus 26Cap56 (conj US n Pluto Rx) just having risen though ASC = 00AQ29 (you note that this degree is the position of the Sun during our modern era presidential inaugurations since they've been held on January 20 (1937) rather than in early March. Is Thomas Jefferson secretively honored each US Inauguration by those who use whatever means necessary to stay in power? Was the 00AQ52 association--Office of the President = Thomas Jefferson's natal Sun? If so, this concurrence had to be synchronized by people who knew how.

Ex: Benjamin Franklin published an almanac for years and made his fortune therefrom; as a scientist and philosopher he was known to dabble in what today we term, Astrology. Now you know that astrological prowess is always passed down through generations, that's nothing new. So let us not fuss over whether Mr. Jefferson, whose aftereffects were found to include a Rosicrucian decoder in his possession (for writing and reading secret messages--they had code names, too) was in alignment or not with groups that are perhaps only now revealing their true designs. Being a loner, perhaps he wasn't a joiner, and being of an ivory tower temperament (so he could think without interruption) Jefferson would have been more of a spiritual adherent to a philosophy rather than a practical one (showing up at regular meetings, etc.) He was accustomed to coming up with his own concepts and developed his inner authority (Saturn, the father, Rx--didn't model authority well for young Tom for Dad was either weak when strength was needed, or absent on one or more levels.)

Jefferson was known for speaking publicly--in a whisper! If you could prevail upon him to do it. Natal Mercury (speaking; communication style; thinking processes; whispers, apparently) @ 26Pis36 was mystical and at-one and thrived on his gardening pursuits (Venus and NN in Taurus near natal IC 22Tau02 = Home) and intellectual wanderings--of course you know of his professions of longing for home and family whenever he was away.

So! What of TJ's YOD (special purpose; crisis; turning point; crossroads; a spiritual opportunity), what midpoint picture might fit the bill of Mercury-Saturn-Uranus (all associated with Astrology, btw)? Here are some possible manifestations for the emphasized trio in the horoscope of this deeply complex man:

Mercury-Uranus sextile (brilliant problem-solver; individual v group; rational thinker with high intuitions; can approach concerns with a fresh or different perspective; intellectually stands apart from the group; uncomfortable if ideas are too readily accepted--did his best when he rejected group assumptions; desired to awaken or convert others; society's critic; an emotional outsider; heretical views created controversy; little confidence in new situations; the spiritual debate between good and evil; a philosopher; foreign travel or self-exile brings insights that lead to wisdom. Here's the trio's midpoint picture which I shall ask you to consider in the light of US Inaugural Sun 00AQ+ (the leader.)


Mercury-Uranus = (apex) Saturn: a desire for personal liberation; suddenly overcoming inhibitions through acting quickly; a correct grasp of a difficult situation and attainment of success and life advancement; separating oneself from others or attaining safety for oneself.

April 10, 2012: The following paragraph is hereby updated concerning Jefferson's apex Saturn in a natal YOD configuration:

Thomas Jefferson's natal YOD's apex Saturn indicates a karmic challenge which emphasizes what already contains karmic implications due to the presence in the natal horoscope of the YOD pattern--a 'fated' undertone is present in the life. This means that both timing and inner maturity were necessary leading up to 1776 for Jefferson to properly use and deal with the dynamic energy of the YOD at the turning point the pattern represents and from which issued the Declaration of Independence. That Thomas Jefferson was given a cosmic purpose to work out seems obvious in hindsight and imho, he was aware of it as well considering his extensive research and study into cosmic or occult subjects, and in light of the critical, soul-trying events of his day.

Though he was happier in solitude, it was a priority (said the Universe) for him to join with others of the New Atlantis persuasion and get the job done of creating a new nation free from religious persecution. His establishment of the University of Virginia further bears out his intentions on the matter.

Apex Saturn in a YOD configuration shows one who makes continuous adjustments when it comes to his ego-security and self-preservation at the start, then experiences much anxiety and self-doubt (part of his whispered speeches? natal 12th cusp of Karma, Self-Undoing, Politics = 5Cap56, ruled by Saturn) due to a lack of support in his early environment. Plus, natal Saturn Rx = weak or absent father; Jefferson's Moon out-of-bounds--his only OOBs natally--shows his well-known faulty relationship with his Mother which was never resolved in her lifetime.

Apex Saturn leads to a painful awareness of one's personal deficiencies and to feelings of being an unwanted outcast, an emotional and psychological condition which must be conquered in adulthood in order to take correct action at YOD's turning point or crossroads, and to successfully manage the special task which the YOD decrees. Yet Saturn's natural drive to overcome obstacles along with the corrective nature of a YOD (for those who cooperate with the Universe rather than selfishly balking) made Jefferson well-suited to take whatever actions and studies necessary to reorganize himself and his attitudes which assured efficient functioning in the world.

YODs are often considered cosmic tests, and Saturn is the planet of tests and lessons, so a great sense of freedom from past burdens may be experienced when a karmic YOD involving Saturn strengthens the character and its energies are thus well-managed. This leads to a definite life direction and an acceptance of social responsibility (something many modern day politicians fail in miserably--so are they 'politicians' at all?); plus, purposeful activity, steady focus, realized ambitions, hard work, and dedication to serious goals are uplifted and, as we know, a significant, well-respected social status results which his name continues to enjoy to this day.

Thomas Jefferson's karmic YOD with apex Saturn made his Saturn Return around the age of 28 highly important to the requirements of his natal YOD's purpose. His Saturn Return occurred three times: Nov 12, 1771, Jan 7, 1772 (Rx), and July 23, 1772; apex Saturn came into play again with a special purpose of karmic proportions at his next Saturn Return of Sept 2, 1801 for he had been inaugurated US president on March 4, 1801 with Congress deciding on his behalf on Feb 9, 1801.

Thus spoke Mark Twain, writer and humorist, and my favorite journalist of all time, if I had to choose.

Though the birth details of Mr. Twain (born Samuel Clemens) aren't 100% verified, the following birth data seems to be most prevalently used everywhere I've looked:

November 30, 1835 4:45 am LMT Florida, Missouri: ASC 10Scorpio; Hour of Venus 21Sag42, Sun conjunct Mars in Sagittarius, Moon in mid-Aries conjunct Pluto Rx; Saturn SQ Neptune (creative yet often depressed--there are other indications of his "black dog" of depression as well), Jupiter SQ Pluto with Jup/Pluto = NN: cooperation becomes important; easily breaking ties with others once they've been used; increased need to be the center of attention; also, Moon/Jupiter = NN enhanced attraction to the "right" people.

And of course, North Node of the Moon indicates contacts or encounters with the public.

Fortunately, Twain's Moon remained in Aries for the 24-hour period of his birth so we may confidently consider the Pre-Natal Eclipse Series (PE) in which he was born, for we only need a birth date for that.

His personality blend of Fire-Fire (creative, dramatic, and inspired!), Sun Sag/Moon Ari, gave him a vivid inner vision that could be insensitive to others; pessimism could rear its depressive head when the expected glory wasn't forthcoming, or when things didn't go as planned.

Sag/Aries is a 'big talking' blend, easily seen with his literary output and public speaking talents, an adventurer who is blunt and sincere, morally upright, hopeful, and irreverant. Plain-speaking was his specialty (similar to humorist Will Rogers, another fave of mine!) and he expressed himself as the 'firebrand' he was. Although a natural egoist, he wanted to make the world a better place and was courageous enough to do so. Mercury Rx affects astro-blogger!

Wishing for tech assistance for my new office set-up has so far proven futile, dear reader, with Mercury, ruler of this blogger's natal horoscope and 10th-house ruler, turned retrograde. Annoyance and frustration are 'in the air' so to speak, and there's no telling when yon wireless service provider will knock upon the door--but first, he must re-ply to his voice mail re-questing assistance!

Will his efforts need to be re-done once accomplished? That re-mains to be seen. Usually, periods of Mercury Rx only affect me in superficial ways if at all (even with natal Mercury in Capricorn direct) but of course, it's been years since I've experienced such an abundance of change in my life--with change being of the province of Mutable Mercury as well.

And naturally, our Syzygy Moon signifies a moment of real-world transits as our nation was being invented and the Declaration of Independence was in process of being debated.

Besides, re-viewing is an appropriate activity for us all during Mercury Rx periods, plus, transiting Pluto (The Transformer; the Dragon Guarding the Riches) nears our nation's Syzygy Moon degree and has crept within orb of it already. How encouraged I am that thousands of Americans (and hopefully no police department 'plants' embedded with protesters with a mission to cause trouble and discredit peaceful Occupiers) are occupying the US Congress and elsewhere today thanks to travesties of SCOTUS justice like Citizens United!

If I had a chance, I'd join them in my former city of residence and add my voice to the throng of citizens no longer under the illusion that certain anti-government operatives, who now act as members of Congress, have no intention of upholding official oaths taken to dutifully carry out the functions of their various offices in allegiance to the sovereign nation they serve and on behalf of the constituency they allegedly answer to.

January 18, 2012: Blackout Day! Save the Internet, Beat Back Corporate Raptors!

Today you can hear all about SOPA and the fight against censorship of the Internet in its current disguise as SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) which the US Senate is to vote upon on January 24, 2012 by visiting progressive broadcaster Thom Hartmann.

Thom and his skillful, plucky staff broadcast today using two laptops and a camera due to a plumbing leak above their regular studio in Washington DC. Kudos all around! (And it couldn't have been sabotage, of course! In DC? Pshaw!)

Yes, this draconian corporate ploy to take-over the Internet will, among many other things, throttle free speech online and continue the transnational drive to commercialize, privatize, and destroy all institutions and functions of our society that are meant to protect the Common Good--here, by censoring what is or isn't published or accessible on the Internet.

Is corporate censorship and re-directs the types of experiences you want as you go about your business online, fellow Americans? Many of our favorite blogs may simply go pouf! forever with nary a trace. A challenging stand-off is clearly upon us in the current form of SOPA v We the People.

Now I have groused in the past about how America was founded upon a corporate structure model (monarchistic Old World/British financial system), perhaps unfairly for it's true that what was necessary in the 1770s may not be precisely what is needed now unless it is done with integrity.

Astrologically we might look at US natal South Node (of the Moon, We the People), a point denoting past behaviors, some of which no longer work in present circumstances and so must be ID'd as 'neurotic'. The negative side of Aquarius? Detachment, cold feelings, an overly rational approach, and other such things as we've seen recently demonstrated during the 2012 Republican debates--often, by booing audiences!

But SN also denotes inherited talents or weaknesses--every case is individual, so the humanitarian sign of Aquarius, with its edgy, super-rational sides of Science, Objectivism, and Futurism, contains America's natal Moon if we use July 4, 1776 as our nation's day of founding. An Aquarian SN shows a need for us to use past ideals and visions to develop ourselves and to act independently on our own behalves in the here and now. (Enter Occupy Wall Street and Move To Amend!)

As you know, America's birthday was promoted by our founding fathers as 'July 4, 1776' even though few signatures were affixed upon the Declaration of Independence on that date. One assumes participants had to consider protecting their own hides from British arrest, after all! And I guess that the other signers of the DoI on August 2, 1776 pretty much tidied things up. Typical to our nature in 2012, what we now honor as our "Freedom Documents" were not universally admired in Philadelphia or in the country at the time though it's easy to forget that now through the rosy glow cast upon our nation's founding through decades past...America was founded upon "an Ideal", "an Idea", or "a vision", as they say.

A 'shining city on a hill' with a global 'mission', that's us.


Here Come Saturn, Uranus, and Plato

Naturally, for astrologers the American Ideal can bring up the planetary duo of Saturn (form) and Uranus (Ideal) and Plato's Ideal Form upon which America was founded--Uranian genius needs a container (Saturn) or it will never manifest in the world and may spill to the ground. Happily, on July 4, 1776, Saturn and Uranus were in beneficial trine (120 degr) to one another from Gemini to Libra, mental Air signs, which describes an ease of pouring by the founders!

A Saturn/Uranus trine tends to project into the future with an excitement about accomplishments and prospects of all tomorrows; a lack of arrogance is shown, and sharing resources, knowledge, and lessons learned from experience are seen to be of benefit to future generations. Measured risks are preferred to iffy speculations, and ideals are based on solid foundations; optimism about the future and high values and ethical standards are upheld (paraphrasing Rob Pelletier.)

And so our Uranian mission in the New World to establish an 'experiment' of an ideal society where brotherhood, equality, liberty, independence, and all other noble ideals of The Enlightenment are held high--'of-by-for' The People--makes me interested in how a horoscope for America's founding would look if the Moon--We the People--were placed at the chart's highest point: the WHY?, or Goal/Aspiration Point of any chart, the Midheaven (MC) which is the most visible and public spot in any horoscope.

Before we do this, I'll use a handy feature in my SolarFire software that animates a horoscope as if it's a clock so that all planets rise, culminate, set, conjunct Angles--however they will on a certain date of a 24-hour period. This gives us a range of degrees for each planet though of course many of them change positions very little if at all.

Not so, the fast-sailing Moon...

Government Of-By-For We the People...really?

An interesting horoscope forms with Moon at MC (18AQ21) if we wish to consider a natal chart for Government of-by-for We The People. On July 4, 1776, Luna reached MC in Philadelphia (according to my Astrology software which may be off a bit due to earthquakes, Moon wobbles, two centuries passing, etc) but it's tallying in for Moon conj MC at 2:33:45 am LMT, with ASC 12Gem22 and a rising Uranus (8Gem53), America's totem planet of freedom, revolution, and such, so it's an ability to cope with anything picture when Uranus rises (as FDR has natally.)

This puts the explosive Mars/Uranus duo rising at 2:42 am LMT on that date, so that it conjoined the Ascendant and created a mdpt picture of its own: Mars/Uranus = ASC: upsetting events; arrest (as mentioned above); physical injury; excitable people; committing acts of violence. (Ebertin.)

The fact that Moon at MC occurs only after 2:00 am is a potential if the story of Thomas Jefferson lifting the first copy of the Declaration of Independence from Dunlap's printing press at such a late hour is true. Well, copies had to be made at some point for the public and for a public reading--they didn't just appear on paper as if by magic!

A difficult Fist of God pattern between our national Sun/Saturn square (within orb all that day) pointing toward the very Moon of which we speak--indicates that We the People have a sacred duty to perform which includes difficult, complex energies. Have we performed them before? Of course, but as with History repeating and similar societal issues continuing to come up again and again for resolution, our duty remains in 2012 if we wish to participate in this, our democratic, high-minded 'experiment' of republicanism, which we still like to call, America.

A Lunar Eclipse @ Winter Solstice 2010: 1st since 1703!

As you know, there's a crisis-degreed Lunar Eclipse on December 21, 2010 @ 29Gem21 occurring a few hours from Winter Solstice 2010 (Sun 00Cap00) and it will be the first Lunar Eclipse at Winter Solstice since the year 1703!

On December 23, 1703, a Lunar Eclipse occurred @ World Point 00Can49 conjunct North Node, along with a Great Conjunction of Saturn and Neptune in Aries. Now history repeats similarly but with differences and there's an astrological similarity between Dec 21, 2010's Lunar Eclipse and the Lunar Eclipse of Dec 23, 1703, apart from their occurrences at Winter Solstice: both fall into the same Solar Eclipse Series, the 12 South - the Series we're in now!

Traditionally, DeVore's Encyclopedia gives '20 Cancer' as a degree of hindrance and limitation and is President Obama's current Progressed ASC degree when his progressed chart is set for Washington DC. (His progressions still show the fretsome midpoint picture: Saturn/NN = Neptune: emotional suffering through fraud, lies, deception, separation (Ebertin.)

Is that separation from his political-financial base? Private sources tell me that Mr. Obama in his extreme arrogance is reviled in DC and across the nation by former financial supporters whose wallets will remain decidedly closed to him for the 2012 campaign! And btw, they despise Michelle, too. Apparently, it's primarily the media talking her up. Plus, Inauguration 2009 Moon's void-of-course condition indicates a 'falling away' from his administration and policies, as previously noted.

So! A Lunar Eclipse at Winter's Solstice has come again as in 1703 and both fall into the 12S Series with its 'draining, long term worries at first seem worse, then clear with successful outcomes" (paraphrasing Brady's Predictive Astrology.)

Hope 12S's improvement vibe applies to my previous remarks concerning the Dec 21, 2010 Lunar Eclipse adversely affecting financial markets!

Of course, being in message-bringing Gemini at a 29th crisis degree (and with a new Solar Eclipse occurring on Jan 4, 2011 in the 13N Series), one thinks of the WikiLeaks embroilment as the whistle blower organization continues exposing the US government's frilly if torn underpants - and, what could bring both realms of crisis together at the Dec 21, 2010 Lunar Eclipse?

Queen Victoria born 1819 with Sun and Moon in Gemini

Here are a bunch of her quotes and some notes on the life and reign of Queen Victoria born May 24, 1819 (NS) in London @ 4:15 am LMT; ASC 6Gem58 with Sun 2Gem07 and Moon 3Gem42 in 12th house; royal Jupiter 16AQ55 in 10th house (a monarch's placement); MC 2AQ24.

America's Virgo Rising natal chart

Master astrologer Marilyn Muir has written an excellent article My USA Chart of Choice which details the various natal charts of America and how she came to conclude that the USA's Virgo rising chart works best when timing events and in progressions, too.

As Marilyn points out, you'd think that with so many of our founders being Freemasons and possibly members of other secret societies, we'd have a definitive birth chart for America. But when you're traitors to the British crown, perhaps, as Marilyn notes, you may wish to keep a lot of things secret concerning your activities until things calm down.

Even our founders' diaries are on the sketchy side and disagree with one another on timing, plus the signing of the Declaration of Independence stretched out into August, unless I am mistaken. And these complexities apply if you prefer the traditional date of July 4 for America's establishment!

Aspects such as our national Mercury/Pluto opposition, the Sun/Pluto quindecile of obsession-compulsion, the Sun/Saturn and Mars/Neptune squares are still intact in the Virgo Asc chart, and I invite you to click the chart image to enlarge for a few basic details; Hour of Venus.

US charts for July 4, 1776 have the Moon (the people) at 18 to about 27 AQ and the Virgo rising chart is no exception. You can see the 'special task or purpose/critical situation' pattern, a YOD (Finger of God) pointing to we-the-people. An apex Moon in a YOD pattern indicates faulty assimilation of impressions that trigger self-defeating reactions and habits.

When well-managed, the apex Moon here describes a destined change or new path in life when past burdens can be laid to rest; basic needs of the populace may then be attended to, the rights and interests of the weaker among us can be defended, and aiding others to establish fundamental securities is pursued. Now if the American people can figure out how to defend our own interests against the politicians and other mafia-style operatives who sold America down the river years ago while giving the keys of our kingdom to foreigners with goals set against our own, we'll be sitting more prettily, if not as lucratively as before the world bankers had their greedy, fraudulent way with us.

The Astrology chart of Amelia Earhart

As a child I read a biography of aviatrix extraordinaire Amelia Earhart and was fascinated with her but was left with a longing to know what happened on her ill-fated flight. Was she a spy? What island did she and her co-pilot land - or more probably crash - on?

Well, everyone wants to solve the mysteries of Amelia Earhart, right?

Andrew Jackson 1829/1833: banks take over US

Guess my ancestry makes me more of an agrarian American in the Jefferson mold rather than a banking maven, hence my interest in the subject of Pres. Andrew Jackson who was not a fan of the US' Second Bank which had 'helped start the Panic of 1819.'

First elected in 1828 during a Saturn/Uranus opposition (as was Barack Obama Nov 2008 and the opposition is ongoing), Andrew Jackson won the presidency as a rough war hero who was a man of the people...a democrat, we may say. The native peoples got a raw deal from him as he sought to expand America into the West and this may be the biggest stain upon his presidency.

My Indian heritage has never been happy about this facet of his leadership, for being an American is a paradoxical thing. In his book,The Secret History of the West, author Nicholas Hagger notes the tall, red-haired Andrew Jackson as "the consolidator of the American Revolution." The book includes much history of Jackson's exploits.

And the US Constitution ignored the American Indians entirely even though the document and our Bill of Rights as 'freedom documents' both owe huge debts of gratitude to the Iroquois Confederacy for what we think of as our Founding Fathers' mental brilliance. Greek precepts are apparent, Weishaupt's Illuminati, and Freemason input are in evidence, yes, but the Iroquoi Nation was on the continent bringing peace and democratic governance before we arrived, hello!

In fact, US natal Sun's Sabian Symbol for '14 Cancer' is: "A Very Old Man Facing a Vast Dark Space to the Northeast"...Iroquoi territory was in the northeast, 'very old man' is a wisdom figure.

Back to Bossy Bankers in Government:

Jackson entered the Oval Office with the intent of reforming the Second Bank which he thought had too much control of our national government in an unconstitutional manner (and he was right - look at the high-handed Federal Banking System now.)

Here's the text of Jackson's first Inaugural Address of March 4, 1829, worth a review considering today's manufactured 'financial crisis.'

And if you follow one link here today, let it be Pres. Jackson's Veto Message to the Senate of July 10, 1832 when he nixed the bill "to modify and continue" the act entitled 'An act to incorporate the subscribers to the Bank of the United States' which was presented to him on July 4, 1832.

He was not pleased. Congress had ignored his concerns and the presentiments he voiced in his first term, so he vetoed the bill in 1832 while again noting his objections.

One of the more well-known of his objections was the specter of bank stocks passing into foreign hands and what would then be America's 'condition' if we were to become involved in a war with that country. Yeah, well, the congressional horses left that barn a long time ago. Guess the speculators weren't concerned since their affections lay elsewhere than on American soil. And we're suffering from the results now.

Well, it's been one-hundred-seventy-six years since 1833 and here's the text of Jackson's second address of March 4, 1833, if you'd like to see how he got on and what he had to say about it.

Member of one of America's most famous political families, Henry Brook Adams was an academician, historian, novelist, and journalist, and a very interesting man. His book,The Education of Henry Adams, won a Pulitzer Prize in 1919.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts on Feb 16, 1838 (NS), hour unknown, the intellectual Mr. Adams has Sun in Aquarius (appr 27AQ - conjunct US natal Moon, the people, in our Sibly chart, an astrological link implying that he could've been president as were his grandfather and great-grandfather, but he wasn't interested!), and his Moon in Scorpio, sign of big business, deep thinking, sex, secrecy, and possible betrayals.

I've also been looking at charts for his wife's suicide - Clovis Hooper Adams - for clues as to why she would kill herself while leading the (seemingly) charmed life of a Washington DC socialite with a well-connected, brilliant husband. At her marriage, she herself was the daughter of the wealthiest man in Boston! No, money can't buy you love or happiness apparently.

Mrs. Adams' birth date is proving elusive to come by but perhaps there were inherited tendencies toward depression...or despair over her world-traveling husband's paramours? I don't know, I'm just typing out loud. Maybe one spurred the other - and a certain sex club may have had something to do with her state.

So no matter what their private relationship was like, Sun-to-Saturn shows great depression for Mr. Adams who upped his world travels after his wife's death - his favorite traveling companion being artist John LaFarge, with Japan and Polynesia on their agenda. At last I've published the natal chart of the Bush Doctrine of Sept 17, 2002 at Jude's Threshold using Sun to Midheaven to represent its unfurling.

No time to blurb on details this morning but since the chart is published as a Page, it will be easy to return later and add more info concerning this horror...scope.

Just a quick heads-up on a Page published today on some links between the charts of Cornwallis' Surrender of Oct 19, 1781, and the planetary positions of America's Inauguration Day 2009, noon est, Capitol Building, Washington, DC.

The 1781 chart, aka the Yorktown Surrender chart, is yet another of several versions known of America's birth or natal chart.

Well, sheesh and more sheesh! it's as if our Masonic, Sacred Geometry-versed Founders were trying to hide our beginning, rather than reveal it!
