The June 8, 2013 New Moon is the seeding phase of activities that will come to fruition/fulfillment/culmination at the Full Moon of June 23, 2013 @2Cap09 (7:32 am edt), a day when Luna is quite active so it will be a busy day for most people. Her aspects after perfection are a sextile to Saturn in Scorpio (11:58 am edt), a sextile to Neptune in Pisces (12:28 pm edt), a conjunction with powerful Pluto in Capricorn (8:37 pm edt), and she rounds out her daily tasks by squaring radical Uranus in Mars-ruled Aries (11:27 pm edt.)
As you can tell, Lady Luna sprinkles fertile moon beams over the Water Trine between Saturn and Neptune, then goes on to alert the difficult Cardinal Square energies between Uranus and Pluto...which does not sound to me like a very quiet weekend at all.
4.10.13 New Moon @20Ari40 conjoins America's Chiron in natal 4th House

If you're reading this post, you probably know that New Moons mark the beginning of a new cycle of events which culminates approximately two weeks later in a Full Moon. In the case of today's New Moon, the cycle culminates (or, reaches a fulfillment of some kind) on April 25, 2013 with a Lunar Eclipse @5Sco45.
With so much happening in Washington DC this week, the New Moon may be starting new phases concerning many issues--ex: gun control legislation as the families of Newtown CT victims blanket Capitol Building halls, the president's budget which is to be announced today (at 11:00 am edt, so I've heard), and other legislative and political endeavors. Well, I can't write about them all especially since this is a very busy month at my house and eking out enough time to blog has become quite a challenge.
Plus, I'll wager that you've already found several articles online concerning today's lunation--one such with excellent insights on the Aries New Moon by top astrologer, Julie Demboski.
Now most of the New Moon articles do not contain references to Politics, Washington DC, or faithless, corrupt politicians, but of course, mine must.
New Moon @20Ari40, as stated, conjoins or conjuncts America's natal 4th house Chiron (20Ari08) so it seems appropriate to consider the basic (natal) condition of our national Chiron by sign, house, and aspect. And naturally, whatever planet aspects today's New Moon forms the same transiting aspect to our Chiron. So let's begin with some info on Chiron in Aries and its 4th house position ('Sibly' chart, July 4, 1776 5:10 pm LMT Philadelphia, PA):
Applying and Separating Planetary Aspects to US Natal Chiron:
1. US n Mercury square n Chiron gives great mental perception and intuition but leads to extreme opinionation. (US Mercury @24Can11 Rx in 8th house.)
2. US n Saturn @14Lib48 in n 10th house opposes n Chiron, an aspect which describes conflict with the more rigid elements of society (Nolle) and a "rigid fighter for humanitarian causes" (Clow.) Of course, the American Revolution is part of this energy as are all the Chiron aspects described here--and they are part of the American psyche that we carry with us into the future.
3. US n Sun (@13Can19 in 7th house) squares n Chiron (6A48) indicating difficulty letting go of control (Clow) and of authority issues. You probably know that the natal Sun of the Republican Party conjoins US natal Sun which apparently gives the paternalistic GOP a constant sense that they should always be the party in charge of the US government.
4. US n Mars (@21Gem22 in 7th house of Partners and Open Enemies) sextiles n Chiron but the aspect is separating (1S14) so there's an unconscious quality to it. This is a 'sacred warrior' signature and I'm certain America's meddling misadventures across the globe is what you're thinking of as am I for it gives our nation a sense of being able to 'do anything' it so desires and adds the courage to try.
Chiron in 4th house identifies us as the God-Motherhood-Apple Pie nation and Richard Nolle says that our "roots hold the key to destiny" with "a cultural legacy that predates and survives it." Yes, we have a deep connection to our revolutionary roots, don't we? Discovering who we really are in the world has been a major task for our nation though most of the people I know don't agree with Washington's assessment of "our place" as the belligerent gorilla on the march toward conquest and domination.
Chiron in Mars-ruled Aries denotes "pioneers, trailblazers, and mavericks" (Nolle) and this sign position supports the 'sacred warrior' mentality our government has exalted to the point of exhausting its citizens, our National Treasury, and our nation's credibility as a "humanitarian nation" who only wants to "spread democracy" for altruistic reasons. Puh! That mask slipped long ago.
Well, in a horoscope set for Washington DC, the April 10, 2013 New Moon falls into 1st house with 22Pis34 rising. And since Pisces is ruled and co-ruled by expansive Jupiter and fraudulent Neptune, the inflationary speculator-wastrel-grand-schemer pair whose Great Conjunction/s of 2009 are imprinted forever on the Obama presidency, perhaps we should consider that the New Moon's Jupiter-Neptune midpoint sits upon attracting Venus, planet of values, evaluations, small amounts of money, and relationships. (Maybe Michelle Obama's recent Freudian slip of being a "single" mom tells us more about their relationship than the president wishes us to know! Oh, and she really needs those bangs trimmed!)
Testy shootist and activist Mars is strong in his own sign of Aries along with Venus, it's an Hour of the Sun (goals), and Mercury, planet of communication, agreements, voting, bills, negotiations, trade and commerce, is rising in confusing, murky yet inspired Pisces with America's natal Neptune in Virgo setting in the chart (conjunct Descendant 22Vir34, along with the president's natal Mars.)
As for today's financial and budgetary issues, 3rd house Jupiter in Gemini is unaspected except for a separating square to Chiron, but austere Saturn @9Sco32 is Rx in 8th house of Shared Resources, Debt, Credit, Transformation, and Death--inconjunct Uranus in 1st house (@9Ari11) which indicates difficulty in setting priorities in obligations, and a feeling of binding restraints and social burdens with a tendency to cling to the past. (Pelletier.) Will an out-of-the-loop Jupiter 'run away' with the chart for the next two weeks?
Are new conflicts beginning with the Sabian Symbol of the New Moon? '21Aries' = "A Pugilist Entering the Ring"...EXERTION. The negative manifestation of this degree is "blind rebellion and a willingness to squander every resources on pseudo values." (Jones.) Now this sounds like obstructionist Republican filibusters to me though a sense of stepping back from committing political suicide may help prevent the GOP from filibustering a Thursday vote on gun legislation. We'll see since their arrogance knows no bounds.
Then there's powerful, wealthy string-puller Pluto in 10th house of Public Status and Career which may denote the visibility of the Newtown families lobbying Congress on behalf of their tragically murdered children (Pluto, the assassin)..whose sweet faces I cannot forget.
A New Moon for Newtown?
My sincere hope is that with today's New Moon, our politicians will begin to think first of our citizens' needs and less of the agenda of the special interests who lucratively pay congressmembers to obstruct the will of We the People. For after all, Chiron in any horoscope is not only the Wounded One, The Key, and The Blindspot--He's also The Healer.
2013 Opens with Earth-Fire Energies and a 113th Congress with Practical Possibilities

With the January 3rd swearing in of the 113th Congress of the United States, we find its signature Sun-Moon blend to be Sun Cap-Moon Virgo, a practical Earth-Earth combo of energies which gives me a tad of hope that this particular gaggle of lawmakers (with obstructionists continuing their heel-yapping aimed at government shutdown and other mischiefs) will make serious efforts to treat our nation and the American people (such as Hurricane Sandy victims--and all women) better than did the non-productive 112th Congress.
And yet the Uranian anarchists who've wormed their rotten way into Congress (and joined the new world order shills and agents already there) don't cause me to think that the US government is dysfunctional or broken--though they're trying. But their outrageous behavior and obstructionist antics do cause me to think that traitors to America and American sovereignty should be expelled from government asap.
Year 2013 Imprinted with Sun Cap-Moon Leo Energies

Around here a New Moon @21Sag45 which perfects on Wednesday December 13, 2012 at 3:41 am est spotlights new beginnings and a seeding of something that will culminate or fulfill its promise at the Full Moon of December 28, 2012--just around the time that the over-dramatizing politicians of Washington DC should be getting their 'fiscal cliff' act together. Plus, with the overly extended Bush tax cuts from 2001 set to expire at 12:00 am est on January 1, 2013, the clock, as they like to say, is tick-tocking while stock markets crouch in wait.
For as you must have heard, IMF chief Christine LaGarde has cautioned Washington politicians over the 'fiscal cliff' anxiety which global markets will react to negatively if our barely functioning functionaries continue their inaction and/or put overly austere measures in place.
So if our representatives in Washington get this wrong, we'll know precisely who on Capitol Hill wants the American people and the US economy to fall back into a recession.
Then may I suggest ahead of their perfidy that if Tea Party members of Congress must be tossed over a cliff in order to get anything fiscally constructive done before the end of 2012 and beyond, I'll gladly volunteer to help with the pooshing if you will, Dear Reader! And let's include a decided ixnay on the Republicans' threatened debt ceiling stalemate, too--especially since we've seen that particular politicized matinee performance in 2011 and it really stank up the place.
No, all their financial and other dramas don't make me feel that my government is broken. But it does make me feel that those Reconstructionists who treasonously interfere with the people's business and have no intention of actually governing because they have only partisan and/or utopian ideological goals in mind are not working for the common good of our nation and should leave town before the sheriff rides in.
Now if only a sheriff were coming!

Are you ready for this Friday's New Moon? Today we are in the Balsamic phase between Sun and Moon, the 'Dark of the Moon' when secrets skulk in the shadows and things go bump in the you-know-what. Will more hidden information slink out of the shadows in campaign ads for President Obama and VP Biden and/or Mitt Romney and his VP pick, Paul Ryan? Yes, the whining is really underway and isn't it typical that bullies whine the loudest when the tables are turned on them?
Well, in Political Astrology, we may say that the August 17, 2012 New Moon @25Leo opposes US natal Moon in Aquarius (we-the-people) so there are potentials for relationship stand-offs and/or a sense of awareness for our week's end in America, plus a new cycle beginning--'seeds planted'--which New Moons always time and which culminate in a Full Moon two weeks later--this time on August 31, 2012 @8Pis34 (9:58 am edt.) This Full Moon and its degree concern me for it triggers America's natal Ceres (and our corn and other crops are already dried up from drought) which conjoins the US natal Pluto/Chiron midpoint of Plutocracy, oppression, disenfranchisement, primal violence, and all the nasty -isms that intend to do harm to the masses while lifting up wealthy powermongers.
You'll note that the August 31 Full Moon manifests one day after RNC 2012 in Tampa, Florida closes (Aug 27--30), which this astrologer considers close enough to be a 'cosmic bookend' or culmination to the 2012 Republican Convention.

It's a Saturn Hour with a couple of Cardinal T-Square patterns formed between a conflict-ridden Mars-Uranus opposition and powerful manipulator Pluto 7Cap46 Rx in 9th house (when the chart is set for DC), and Saturn/ASC pointing toward the Sun and Moon in 4th H of Home, Homeland, and Real Estate.
(Cardinality means that events are likely to occur if at least three factors support them.)
Perhaps the potential manifestations contained within the chart's midpoint pictures (from the T-Squares and other midpoints) will yield information about the new cycle of activity timed by this New Moon in Cancer, sign of home, nurturing, security, and business matters.

This New Moon @28Gem43 is the last lunation prior to June 20's Summer Solstice 2012--its Sygyzy Moon. Today's New Moon makes no major aspects to other planets which emphasizes its degree and house position.
But then its degree does oppose Galactic Center if you're interested that sort of cosmic connection!
Dueling Natal Charts and Candidates: Obama v Romney

As you know, there's a big difference in having natal Sun in shiny Leo, sign of the natural ruler (Obama), and having natal Sun in obfuscating, confusing-confused Pisces (Romney), sign of deception, victimization, and what should operate as compassion in the personality. Plus, Gov. Romney has Mercury Rx (thinking processes, communication style) in Pisces along with Mars (motivation, action, energy) and this abundance of Piscean energies relates, I believe, to current questions as to 'Who is Mitt Romney?', his awkwardness with others, and what some say is his 'lack of a core' now being voiced by the press and others. But as astrologers know, Pisces can never really be fully fathomed!
Plus, you see the oppressive Saturn-Pluto conjunction at the Foundation of Romney's chart and psyche, what I call the vulture capitalist duo when it comes to Bainster Mitt. The duo's bullying energy is so strong that even his attracting-attractive Venus in aloof Aquarius at Midheaven--out there for all the world to see--can't change the fact that deep within his basic personality lies Saturn-Pluto energy and that is what he tries so hard to protect from scrutiny with his Piscean avoidances and non-answers for he seems to genuinely hope in January 2013 that he will enter the White House at long last and be the elite tool everyone knows him to be.

Coming so close to Summer Solstice 2012 (Wednesday June 20), this New Moon perfects at 11:02 am in the edt time zone, is disposited by Mercury (ruler of communicative Gemini) during a Mercury Hour, plus--Mercury is the only planet out-of-bounds. Whew! Lots of Mercurialism going on next week with a New Moon signaling a new cycle of activity beginning in the realms of Mercury (trade, commerce, journalism, travel including air and space, plans, thinking processes, teaching, speechifying, and more.) Plus, '28Gem' is a degree of BANKRUPTCY in the Sabian Symbols and the June 19th New Moon stimulates the Moon of 9/11/01 for it's something of a Lunar Return to the 9/11 horoscope.
Additionally, Moon and Mercury (the 'heart v head' combo) are engaged in supportive mutual reception for Mercury (what I think of as our solar system's 'tofu planet' for Mr. Speedy takes on the flavor of whatever it contacts) is now zooming through the zodiacal sign of Cancer, sign of Home, Nurturing, Self-Protection, crabbiness, caginess, and shrewd business maneuvers. However, restrictive Saturn 22Lib47 Rx in Mercury's natural 3rd house of Communication provides a bit of braking or delay by squaring Mercury in 11th H of Groups where the New Moon occurs (edt) while the Venus 8Gem45 Rx-Jupiter 1Gem47 duo in the New Moon's 10th H of Public Standing (both disposited by Mercury) contact US natal Uranus 8Gem55 and continue to affect the Republican Party's assumed presidential candidate Mitt Romney's natal ASC 1Gem01 and 1st house NN 5Gem29.
These expansive contacts are giving Mittens an airy lift of his thinking, plans, newsworthiness, and visibility though with all the unstable Mutable energy, the good effects may be temporary or alternating. If the radical reforms are so beneficial, why was the pact formed in complete secrecy during its nascent stages (2008--2010)? More offshoring of US jobs is afoot! This is a negative for President Obama's re-election campaign dreams for details and text now emerge in the light of the May 20, 2012 Solar Eclipse @00Gem20 (conjunct Alcyone--this pact is indeed something to cry about) along with the June 6 Lunar Eclipse (conjunct US natal ASC) and its uncovering-of-secrets function for TPP's "free trade" details have been leaked in line with the current (un-)veiling Neptune in oceanic Pisces influence. Such a leaky White House! Makes me wonder if the identity of the GOP mole will soon be leaked!

Romney's natal 2nd H of Money and Earning Ability is affected as well with the June 19th New Moon occurring therein--cusp 25Gem00; some fluctuation in his campaign funding efforts--up or down--may be forthcoming as well once the new cycle begins and culminates two weeks later at the July Full Moon in Capricorn. Of course, revelations of financial double-dealing are possible for Romney with Gemini, the sign of multiplicity and duplicity--here in money matters (2nd H.)

Yes, the Gemini planets of June also affect President Obama's natal 4th H Moon 3Gem21 which sextiles his n 6th H Mercury 2Leo20 but is squared by n Pluto 6Vir59 in 7th H of Partnerships. Natal 7th H also contains his 'political associations advocating reforms' duo of Uranus-NN in Leo which is in much closer orb than Romney's Uranus-NN in Gemini.
In addition, it may turn out to be politically significant--especially in the realms of speeches and goals--that Mercury's Rx Station @12Leo33 on July 14, 2012 is a direct 'hit' to President Obama's natal Sun @12Leo33--and will recur with a direct Mercury--but I can't type about that now since I'm in process of adding such notes to the first-ever issue of Stars Over Monthly which is coming soon!
Coming soon to a Cosmos near you is the Venus Transit of June 5 or 6, 2012 in mid-Gemini. The excellent publication History Today tells of astronomer and mathematician Jeremiah Horrocks, a Liverpudlian, who forecasted then observed for the first time a Venus Transit (aka, Occultation of the Sun) on November 24, 1639.

Young Mr. Horrocks made a telescope of his own and achieved this cosmic feat but since the precise hour of his observance is unknown, a New Moon--actually a *Solar Eclipse--that very evening makes an excellent timer and provides a symbolic chart of the observance if not a correctly timed event chart. How a viewing was possible during an eclipse, I do not know, however, horoscope details are listed below. You'll notice that the Solar Eclipse degree in 1639 conjoins the Solar Eclipse of November 25, 2011 (2Sag37), 1639's Pluto conjoins the current Solar Eclipse degree of May 20, 2012 (00Gem21, a 1-minute orb!), and the position of Venus in 1639 opposes Venus' degree of June 5/6, 2012 (15Gem45 Rx, a 2 degr-6 min orb), something of a Full Moon phase for Venus Transits:

conducting clandestine operations, security forces allied with the military, using police and military against criminal elements (like your Aunt Granny Fanny? bosh!), attacks using powerful forces and weaponry, a police state with rigid military controls, use of suppression and torture to enforce policy, wars, mayhem, rape, chaos, and/or exporting upheaval and political theory to others as an objective. A new cycle of activity began today with a New Moon in balancing Libra and it perfected at 7:08:36 am edt, so you've probably seen the New Moon horoscope set for the White House, right?
Therefore, it is very timely to consider in mundane fashion the Sabian Symbol for the New Moon's emphasized degree which arose in the DC chart with Ascendant @ 4Lib51; then I'll include the next degree of '5Lib' for good measure since the 360 degrees of the Zodiac--the Circle of Life--represent evolutionary progress as one degree morphs into the next. How Purposeful Washington's Political Games Now Seem

All logic tossed out the window, there are factions in the US determined to topple our republic and one of their tactics is to pile responsibility for current, dire financial straights onto the "backs of the poor" with President Obama at the helm and, one must assume, complicit in a radical and daft recipe for systemic collapse.
("We will bury you", pronounced Soviet leader Nikita Kruschev to America during my childhood. Thanks for that memory, Nikki. But you're just another in a long line of jackassian politicians in my book.)
Well, Ray McGovern's article Obama on the Backs of the Poor from August 3, 2011 is worth a second look if you've had a first--or is a not-to-be-missed if you did. Apparently daftness and perfidy masquerading as recklessness rules Washington Politics more than ever though I will not give passes for those who mismanage by design. To paraphrase Max Igan, US government officials and workers are in breach of contract as our employees if they don't effectively do the jobs that come with their positions.
As one-world-government types like to parrot loudly: rule of law! --which should effectively include lawmakers, their minions, staffs, operatives, and all bureaucrats.
A difference though is that the VP and President are not actually elected by the people but by the squirrelly electoral college of muckedy mucks. Perhaps one of the big 'secrets' of America's 'invisible' government from founding times is that the aristocrats won the lotto and most of the spoils which often accrued and accrue from the labor of working men and women.
My, how we haven't spiritually progressed as factions work tirelessly to make providing for the 'general welfare' a thing of the past--it's been made to seem "too expensive" to waste money on the poor and disadvantaged. Has compassion become old-fashioned in America? Then we-the-people must lift it up!

Growing up within an hour or so from the reverend's home church in Atlanta, Ga, I remember hearing his voice and words on radio, TV, and in the news. As noted in the article above, *Rev. Martin Luther King Jr in a 1950s era speech said this:

Saturn (government; systems; restrictions) with Neptune (secret; veils; the masses; the media; paranoia) denotes 'secret' or 'invisible' 'government' which shows in America's natal chart/s of July 4, 1776 with Saturn @ 14Lib48, and Neptune @ 22Vir25 (conjoined with the natal Mars of Barack Obama.) In our oft-utilized natal chart set for 5:10 pm LMT, we see the midpoint of the Secret Government pair @ 3Lib37--close enough in orb to the New Moon of September 27, 2011 @ 4Lib00 to indicate a 'new cycle of activity' beginning in relation to America's secret or invisible government plans and policies.
Of late. transit Uranus in early Aries ('Utopians' according to Ebertin) has been triggering or catalyzing the midpoint of US natal Saturn/Neptune...n Sat/Nep = tr Uranus: sudden weaknesses emerge; excitability; irritability; peculiar inclinations; upsets cause illness; inner unrest (of a people or a nation.) Of course, to reach the Sept 27 New Moon we must first enter and navigate the 3-day period of the Dark Moon when hidden things go bump in the night and society's infestations of satanic forces opportunistically act with even more impunity. Sudden emergence of financial weaknesses cannot be ruled out, as we've already seen of late. Plus, the Saturn-Neptune pair of energies also carries a 'materialism v idealism' connotation.
And though a Dark Moon phase is an excellent time to lay low or chillax, my thought is that for best results in coming days, beware too many entertaining distractions because these people play for keeps, y'all, 2012 is upon our doorsteps, and from Sept 27's New Moon into 2012/13 will mark a watershed phase for all of humanity. Messing this up is not an option, really.

The New Moon perfects during an Hour of Mars 5Leo05 in 10th house of Public Status and Career, conjunct US natal North Node which indicates encounters with martian people or events; chart-ruler Venus 15Lib21 in 1st house and just past US natal Saturn 14Lib48 which is the first US natal planet to rise in the New Moon chart.
This indicates issues of legalities, austerity, responsibility, potential loss, and accountability. Accountability issues are seconded by asteroid Hera at MC (keeping or balancing accounts) and financial matters are prominent.
Also prominent are military issues (hospitals, illness, use of force) and mining (Pluto conj IC, 4th house ruled by Saturn, plus, Neptune/Pluto midpoint in 4th h indicates resource plunderers (Robber Barons) and, in particular, uranium mining, contamination, radiation, and disposal concerns.
As you see, Jupiter Rx in Taurus, a money sign, is posited in 8th house of Shared Resources, Big Business, Corporations, Banking, Debt, Credit, Insurance, Legacies, Transformation, Death, and the Occult. The Neptune/Pluto pair has links to the supernatural and the occult as well.
For the sake of brevity, this analysis of the new cycle of activity beginning on Sept 27 will be primarily focused on midpoint pictures, aspects, and other links to the New Moon itself.
Chart-ruler Venus makes only one applying aspect (how things will proceed)--a conjunction with Saturn which happens to be conjoining US Secondary Progressed Mars Rx. Serious meetings are indicated along with mixing business with pleasure, working in isolation, and/or appreciating a need for better organization and structure.
Two applying aspects to the New Moon are telling, one that is separating (waning) indicates a past event or unconscious inclination--here are a few potentials which may come from the New Moon in Libra, sign of Partnerships and Legalities, but which also has war and conflict connotations:

With US n Jupiter at MC and triggering/completing the T-Squares into a Grand Cross pattern, we know that idealism, finances, religion, higher education, war (Jupiter the General), courts, and other 9th house matters that Jupiter rules are particularly of interest in this New Moon horoscope, with business, self-protection, and security intimately involved (Cancer.)
Yet the separating opposition from radical Uranus 2Ari31 Rx may also relate esp with Uranus still affected by the transiting Jupiter/Neptune midpoint, the speculator-wastrel-grand schemes-inflationary pair of planets which conjoined one another upon our US natal Moon--we-the-people--in Aquarius all through 2009 creating an 'involved in speculation/instability' vibe. Now some people don't care for the ways of Alex Jones yet he's one of the few now speaking of such potentials as human activities causing earthquakes. And we know there exist in the world gangs of robbers in hiding and win-at-any-cost brigands (the political arm) and criminals (the enforcing arm) of a network who think it's all about them and scr*w the rest.
Then there are religious crazies who imagine they can speed up God's timetable and bring on Armageddon as if they would be somehow benefit from such a self-destructive plan! Times of Turmoil: Uranus Square Pluto
The riotous mid-1960s saw the Great Conjunction/s of the revolutionary pair, Uranus and Pluto, which now have reached a square (90 degrees) in their orbits (360 degr) so that intense frustration is obvious yet blocked, societal problems resurface from the 60s era, but obstacles stand in the way of easy resolution. Marking the 48th anniversary of Dr. King's I Have a Dream Speech and the Memorial's Dedication will be postponed until September or October.
Yes, The Preacher (Jupiter) spoke too plainly, made too much sense, and threatened The Establishment (Saturn) by combining the issues of the Civil Rights Movement, the Anti-War Movement, and a blossoming Workers Rights Movement into one huge collection for Americans who wanted their due--and non-violently, thanks. Yes, Dr. King was too popular and may have presented behind-the-scenes 'king-makers' with a challenge in the US presidential arena if allowed to expand his audience and sentiments. Our freedom documents were of no moment for the plutonians who had changed America's course before by assassination of Lincoln, JFK, and others who'd been more what we-the-people in the majority wanted--and continue to want--to lead our nation.

Yet on August 28, 2011, no stormy weather can interfere with the third of three conjunctions from transiting Saturn to US natal Saturn, aka, a Saturn Return, with Saturn ruling, among other things, stone, rock, granite, monuments, and permanence. Why, our Saturn Return may include the bad weather!
In addition, accountability, responsibility, restriction, austerity, old age, and other such Saturnian themes remain on our menu as our Exalted in Libra (the Scales of Justice) Saturn returns to its natal spot and thereby repeats its square to US natal Sun (leader; leadership) from July 4, 1776.
A Sun/Saturn square contains dynamic energy which, in 1776, represented our nation's struggle to express and manifest authority in the way any entity would wish: freely and maturely. The limiting quality of Saturn (lawmakers, courts = two branches of government) placed 'checks and balances' upon a potentially runaway Executive branch (Sun)--or was originally meant to, in an attempt to prevent monarchism. (Turns out, US monarchism seems to be reserved primarily for Supreme Court justices since the Marbury v Madison decision of 1803--but that's another post!)
My point is that any US Saturn Return brings to the surface similar issues to be dealt with in the current era, and hopefully to be resolved (#3 hit of 3 as resolution phase) in a way that actually benefits the nation in the realm of staid Saturn's concerns. Paying one's debts comes to mind (Saturn = loss; default.)

Actually, I just posted something on the New Moon of September 8, 2010 which happens to occur on the afternoon of the Jewish New Year, if you're interested. This New Moon culminates with a Full Moon on September 23, just in time for Autumn Equinox 2010, as Sun and Moon join the already-titanic Cardinal T-Square with apex Pluto, along with Jupiter, Uranus, and Saturn.

8. Program your dreams for the Aries New Moon cycle (until the next New Moon):
Each night before sleeping, go over Step 5 for several minutes. Finish this dream-portal session by asking your angels to help you clarify and adhere to your strategies for tomorrow’s progress, and to help you remember them.
Upon waking, write down your dreams before analyzing them for signs and answers (Betty Bethard’s, The Dream Book: Symbols for Self Understanding is one of the best I’ve found to enrich this process/)
A parting word
San Francisco healer Dr. Asa Hershoff says that whether our chosen practice be prayer or meditation, basically it is a way of remembering the truth about our own powerful beings. Even though it often feels like life is happening to us, we can choose to have it happen with us, from us and through us. This lunation reminds us to refer to that force within as a point of departure and from it create prayers-in-motion: our own audacious and strategic actions.
As we use them to make progress one-day-at a time during this lunar month, we will weave the web of our present and future experience, adding with each initiative a silver thread to the larger fabric of the universe.

The New Moon occurs in Washington at 6:03:02 pm est, in 6th house of Work and Health.
Transit Pluto 27Sag19, has recently conjuncted al Qaeda's natal Saturn (when ambitions must be tempered with patience and control), but is now triggering n Uranus (tech advances; government affects freedom. Any Uranus/Pluto contacts do, of course, tend to be explosive and revolutionary.) (Al Qaeda: Aug 11, 1988; Peshawar, Pakistan.)
Mars 12Can15 (his Rx degree of Nov 15) is supportively trining this New Moon, as is Uranus 14Pis52, which gives a preceptive and sensitive Water Grand Trine to which the Moon joins in:
Sun/Moon = Mars: drive for fulfillment; energy helps or disrupts associations; serval awareness in partnerships; the realization of joint objectives.
Sun/Moon = Uranus: urge for freedom; independent actions; inner rebellion; lack of adaptability; sudden conflicts and shared upsets.
Rising in Washington in the New Moon chart is asteroid Midas, his greed for gold renowned, and Sun is parallel Pluto (similar to a strong conj, a timing device.)
Nebulous, confused, and deceptive Neptune 19AQ16 squares the Scorpio New Moon from 10th house--Neptune conj MC, in fact. And with Scorpio being the sign of intell agencies, spying, and big business (including mining), it will be interesting to see what appears as the light of the New Moon increases.
You'll find many interpretations online of the New Moon of Feb 17, 2007, so I want to type out for you from Adriano Carelli's, The 360 Degrees of the Zodiac, with its antiquated and colorful ways of expression.
There's a real traffic jam at the top o'the chart, the Mc/Aspiration Point, the WHY of the chart, where you see tr Chiron nestled. Several planetary midpoints add to the picture, and as you see, the chart is specific to the White House, or to Capitol Hill not so very far away.
But first let's consider the midpoint which is rising, Saturn/North Node, a duo which together indicate isolation and inhibitions in unions or associations (Ebertin.)
Sat/NN = ASC: a inhibited person with a desire for seclusion; separation; suffering under difficulties with others. Sounds like Bush and his Iraq ball'n'chain...and he forged it himself.
Midpoints at Mc include:
Sun/Mars = Mc: efficiency; ready to fight for one's principles; accepting responsibility gladly; the character of a fighter; attaining success; marriage or union (the Part of Marriage is at Mc also);
Moon/Mars = Mc: a woman with strong principles; upright behavior; a forceful and purposeful nature; getting married (who's getting married? Anyone?)
Venus/Pluto = Mc: love; karmic union.
Now delusional, if idealistic, Neptune is being highlighted by a few midpoints as well, and they are:
Sun/Mc (the goal) = Nep: pursuit of the wrong objectives (how tiresome); apathy; indifference; confusion or a lack of clarity (Washington likes it that way for the most part--you weren't doing anything with that understanding, were you?); disappointments (they've been disappointing me for years); insecurity (they promote that--Homeland Insecurity); something threatens ego definition (a lack of ego in Washington? Impossible!)
Mars/NN = Nep: demonstration of anti-social conduct in associations; falsehood; undermining of associations; disappointments (again); self-absorption within the group--charismatic or off-putting (consider me off-put.)
There are two midpoints pointing at the New Moon itself...
Mercury/Neptune = Sun: possibly allowing oneself to be deceived; intellectual creativity; impressionability;
Merc/Nep = Moon: a misguided imagination; pictures from the subconscious; a deceived or deceptive woman.
NN/Mc = Sun: maintaining associations through shared interests; unions based on the physical; easy social ascendancy; the importance of friends and contacts for success;
NN/Mc = Moon: sharing emotions with others presents a challenge; a cozy atmosphere; an emotional character.
Neptune/Pluto, the Robber Baron duo, is conj Mars: being used a tool for other people's interests (there are many tools in Washington, as you know); a lack of resisitance, stamina, or energy.
Now quoting from Carelli's interpretation of the MC/Chiron traffic jam (Carelli recommends using the degree without rounding up)..."11AQ": Symbol: "A headless man, whose body is in full battle harness":
Warlike, rushing and forcible, outwardly splendid and innerly noble (there seems to be) no bearings and no aim. Reckless--nay, altogether blind--(he) will be destitute of any authority; his victories and his possible popularity will be short-lived. If a winner, he will not know how to exploit his victories and will leave his shoulders undefended for his opponents to hit back; if a loser, he will wander about as luck would have it. In a material sense, there is a real danger of wounds, mutilations, or death sentence.

The assets will be merriness, an absolute naturalness of manner, a direct insight into reality. This degree's besetting sin is a tendency to ply the rummer. There will not be bad manners; there will be no manners at all.
Possible vices are alcoholism, idleness, fondness of gambling, dissoluteness, a tendency to loathe both poverty and the means to keep it at arm's length. Any reflection upon the consequences is superfluous.
With the New Moon the beginning of a cycle, and the Full Moon in two weeks being the culmination of something begun now, Washington sounds like its usual big honkin' barrel of monkeys, doesn't it? Guess it's what we've come to expect...aimlessness and recklessly warring, drunkeness (with power and greed along with the rum), idle, and gambling...as long as it's other people's money, that is.
Now what are the chances the flask is in Bush's back pocket?
