When I noticed today that the Sun 20Lib+ is in *parallel to Fixed Star Rigel, I wanted to give a shout-out to lovely Rigel, The Educator star in ancient Astrology and one that is linked to an angle in this blogger's natal horoscope.
Hence I'm rather fond of regal Rigel! ((Ree' gul) And since the star is the left foot of Orion, I suspect you've spied it twinkling in the heavens, especially now in Autumn with constellation Orion The Hunter showing prominently in our night skies.
Rigel (Beta Orion) which is tropically positioned in mid-Gemini, has a magnitude of 0.3 and a declination of 08S12'21" (Brady's Book of Fixed Stars) and can be used on all four points of charts in all latitudes except the extremes of the poles.
Star lore concepts include being 'under Osiris's protection' for its symbolism of the Pharaoh's pinioned birds (under Orion's feet) representing the subjects of the Pharaoh. The myth goes that gentle Osiris brought education and civilization to all the lands he ruled, and the 'pinioned birds' were not a negative symbol but a positive one of people receiving the wisdom and protection of civilization.
Now some star lore experts such as Robson have identified Rigel with ambition and that is often the case when Rigel is linked to angles or planets in a horoscope. But for me it's the educating side of Rigel--effort made for the gain of others rather than for personal gain--that describes the vibes of Rigel.
Why, the very laws of planetary motion were figured out by the great Johannes Kepler of lasting fame who was born with Rigel culminating (at MC) as wise Jupiter set!
*parallels are used in Astrology for timing purposes and are similar to strong conjunctions. Osiris and Orion issue from the same archetype; the three stars in the Belt of Orion are thought by some to be the direction from which the Christ will return "bringing His reward with Him" and are said to correspond to the Pyramids at Giza on Earth...As Above, So Below.

Well, our wimpy Congress skedaddles from the Capitol Hill scene of their many crimes this afternoon (if you can find one of 'em on The Hill as late as 3 pm, I'll be a monkey's aunt) for another week-long break while millions of Americans--their constituents--remain unemployed and struggling for basic necessities. And this break comes after the toil of selling out US jobs once again by passing a triple "free" trade pact with South Korea, Panama, and Columbia.
Isn't it odd what legislation our theatrical Congress can manage to 'come together' on to pass in a 'bipartisan' fashion?
Guess we can always check in with Occupy Wall Street demonstrators to see a model of what democracy actually looks like since its image has become tainted and Swiss-cheesy on our Masonic Capitol Hill.

To refresh our jaded memories, here's the text of the Preamble of the Constitution of the Confederate States, adopted March 11, 1861.
To read the rest of the historical document try the Avalon Project since, if our nations succumbs to a Rick Perry presidency, we may be cast back to the 19th century with all its social ills and backwardness as if that could possibly be a good trade for the social ills and conditions of our forcibly austere time.

Now their relationship should act in a 'checks'n'balances' manner in order to protect our Democracy and the sovereignty and treasury of a US government that is invested with ruling power solely by the consent of the governed. Yet these days, a troubling, undermining behavior is shown when the GOP demands contraction of the US economy when there's a Democrat in the White House but spends like drunken sailors on imperial war and Corporate Welfare when they are the freaks at the helm.
Yet of course we know that central and transnational bankers including agents of The Fed control US Politics with politicians acting as the political arm of a global crime syndicate which is symbolized by Jupiter's tendency to incorporate and grow--precisely how America was founded, by Corporation (East India Company, plus, US natal Pluto 27Cap33 Rx which manipulates from afar since US natal Pluto lurks out-of-bounds from the gestalt of the rest of our national horoscope, no matter which time you use to set up a US natal chart.)
As you've perhaps heard, there are mumblings going round that big bankers of the
1860s era backed both sides of the 'Civil' War (as was their custom in other conflicts) and were determined to hold onto to the South and its agricultural and other resources in order to stop the South from becoming independent trade partners with the Caribbean region, points further south, and Europe. And naturally, given the usury creatures we're discussing, there were large loans that might not be paid back if the South had been allowed to secede, which is one level of action going on in the background of the 1860s and affecting the lead-up to war and describes the motivations of some of the actors and banking agents of those days.

Mundanely, it seems to me that our Capitol Hill Jupiterians (the Grand Old Party) are again using tactics of Saturnian control and austerity when social ills are on the precipice of being addressed and eased (the tension--rulers v people so let's be on guard for yet another war to be waged on borrowed dough whose interest payments will further financially enslave the American people.) Meanwhile Ds (Saturn) want to expand spending and investment (Jupiter) because government (Capricorn/Saturn) must spend when the private sector won't. So we're to believe that the Democratic Party's Jupiter function simply longs to be expressed to aid a struggling populace--but the poor things are frustrated by the Republican Party's inhibiting saturnity.
Checkmate! And we-the-people lose since those who need money for basics and other expenses are the ones who they attempt to prevent from accessing the global money tree when everyone knows that US consumer spending is what can re-float our financial boat. Obviously, there are political, financial, and other factions that don't want the US economy to rebound and have left US workers behind in an Arizona Dust Storm.
Now you may disagree with me on these things, but really, I can't see how you can given the timber of financial and political events which have transpired during the first eleven years of the New Millennium as Washington's jackassian politics spread across the land, snatching away the weak and unwary like hungry wolves at the gate.
Come to think of it, I've harangued here more than once against radical Utopians ('Uranus in Aries = Utopians'--Ebertin) entering and soon re-entering America's 4th house of Homeland, Domestic Scene, Real Estate, and Endings ('The Drain') as Big Bankers and Mortgage Interest Usurers--both here and abroad--take possession of millions of homes and properties in the US, residential and commercial. Hmm...a pattern?

Seriously: Who Takes "President Trump" Seriously?
A recent poll suggests that someone does take NYC's serial-bankrupt mogul seriously in his bid for the US presidency in 2012.
Not that there's anything intrinsically wrong with bankruptcy with its safety valve capacity, of course: except that when it's done on that level of a playing field (where the wheeler-dealers scamper while risking other people's money), a definite whiff of scalliwaggedness must waft about prospective voters' heads if they have any deliberative capacity at all.
And as many people have asked, if Mr. Trump is a serial filer, how good can he be for America's already-shaky financial prospects?
I mean, if America's debt ceiling isn't raised by May 2011, bankruptcy will be knocking loudly on our collective door like a Landlord Trump collecting way-overdue rent.
For me a Trump prez candidacy is on the same shaky rung as the 2008 campaign of Sarah Palin, with John McCain riding close on their pseudo-presidential coat tails. It's amazing how US political campaigns have risen into the stratosphere costwise, and ballotwise there's no telling whose name might turn up for our consideration. Very Jupiter-Neptune, I think: the grand schemers with pie-in-the-sky-esque antics (and those who flatter them!) yet whose talents must in the end have some practical motivation and application within the vicious world of politics.
And with diversion so prevalent in society these days (a handy tool for political operatives everywhere), perhaps a Donald Trump candidacy in tandem with "That thing on his head," as David Letterman has repeatedly and endearingly said (a hairstyle that often defies description or belief), may at some point prior to the November 2012 election, bring us a much-needed chuckle as we watch the jester cavort for the cameras while spouting outrageous ideas that he hopes will catch the public's attention.
(Note: there is nothing presidential or crazy that Mr. Trump can say that can force me to watch The Apprentice, flagging ratings or no. Just sayin'. jc)
Okay, But Let's Take Trump Seriously One More Time on This Blog
(And as my mother used to say, "Now let that be the last.")

But all I really know is that if shutting down the US government for good is the ultimate intent of certain factions operating within the US (and their antecedents who administered on behalf of an over-arching agenda before the current crop of Hegelian scoundrels, shills, and Chaos Utopians arrived), they're doing an annoyingly excellent job of it as 2012 nears. They may have latched on to the overly-PR'd 2012 New Age-Mayan Prophecy gold mine of Fear and are using it to good effect for their power-and-wealth-grabbing purposes with a side order of mass manipulation.
Or...perhaps the cosmically advanced Mayans knew what they were carving about.
Well, I say, Hurrah! that Wisconsin voters today in their Supreme Court race beat back a little the draconian creep instituted by the state's current gaggle of GOP strong-arming soldiers (like Gov. Scott Brown and his brethren) who seem to have never met what they consider to be a lesser being whom they couldn't stifle, hoodwink, or disenfranchise.

Not that there's anything intrinsically wrong with bankruptcy with its safety valve capacity, of course: except that when it's done on that level of a playing field (where the wheeler-dealers scamper while risking other people's money), a definite whiff of scalliwaggedness must waft about prospective voters' heads if they have any deliberative capacity at all.
And as many people have asked, if Mr. Trump is a serial filer, how good can he be for America's already-shaky financial prospects?

For me a Trump prez candidacy is on the same shaky rung as the 2008 campaign of Sarah Palin, with John McCain riding close on their pseudo-presidential coat tails. It's amazing how US political campaigns have risen into the stratosphere costwise, and ballotwise there's no telling whose name might turn up for our consideration. Very Jupiter-Neptune, I think: the grand schemers with pie-in-the-sky-esque antics (and those who flatter them!) yet whose talents must in the end have some practical motivation and application within the vicious world of politics.
And with diversion so prevalent in society these days (a handy tool for political operatives everywhere), perhaps a Donald Trump candidacy in tandem with "That thing on his head," as David Letterman has repeatedly and endearingly said (a hairstyle that often defies description or belief), may at some point prior to the November 2012 election, bring us a much-needed chuckle as we watch the jester cavort for the cameras while spouting outrageous ideas that he hopes will catch the public's attention.

GOP takes over House, replaces gavel w hatchet
Tomorrow the Republicans 'take over' the House with dreams of undermining all of President Obama's legislative successes and thus his presidency and legacy. Their agenda includes gutting or repealing the Health Care Reform bill (what I call the Health Insurance Reform bill) so if you've missed it, here's a link to the January 3, 2011 letter sent to Majority Leader John Boehner from Senate Democrats angling to protect their bill, their president, and by extension, the American people.
(By its wide release, one assumes the public is meant to be swayed by the letter's points - since it's doubtful the GOP will be. Political theater, dahlink.)
Yes, the Dems make good points in the letter (don't throw the baby out with the bath water, etc) yet it may be too measured and too logical for hotheaded win-at-any-cost Republicans to accept since they're super-focused on imagining the way ahead to the White House in 2012/13. Early on Limbaugh set the tone from January 2009 with his Obama Fail Campaign.
Their current repeal stance represents to me the GOP's stubborn blindness to the general welfare so again I must ask those who voted Republican in November 2010: what in the world were you thinking? The GOP have their hatchets sharpened and at the ready - and they're coming after the American people's already-tattered social fabric - the "entitlements" they so love to denigrate - when we know that it's war spending and politicians' salaries and benefits that should be cut first while simultaneously going after fraud, waste, and abuse in and of the system.

Is government shut down Dec 18th a bad thing?
Perhaps Capitol Hill Democrats shouldn't be too hasty. Maybe full throated instead of reserved Republican bluff-calling is in order as many people have mentioned before now. But really! This evening's Reid-McConnell fireworks on the House floor should be savored not decried! (Link to text below.)
Shut Down Time has rolled around again and politically its 1994-esque vibe lingers over The Swamp like a wayward wisp from a Georgetown condo bong. Unemployment benefits expire Dec 31, Rs rejoice!
Well, in America, droves of rich folk turned out to vote against Democrats on November 2, 2010 - to protect their own monied self-interests. And you know that they and their reps on Capitol Hill are against extending federal "jobless benefits" (unemployment 'insurance' checks of about $290 per week set to expire December 31) to unemployed US workers, many of which were laid off or made redundant by the very same class of rich folk and their kin who voted en masse on November 2.
Yes, it seems to be dandy fine with the wealthy class if millions of US children go without the basics. No skin, one assumes, off their bulbous noses. And yet such tax relief they need, pitiful things!
So why did Independents, young people, and others who voted in massive numbers in 2008 stay home from the 2010 dance? If it was so that the upper crust plutocrats could gain a leg up, you leave me sputtering. As of tomorrow I'll be off for the holiday here in the US and perhaps I'll have a quiet moment to think about all of you, for you puzzle me, you do. Trusting plutocrats with your society, your politics, and your money is never fruitful and won't make you into one of them, you know. Nowhere near, not even close.
Now Wednesday morning's SO'W post of 11.24 will tide this blog over until my return, so it's: Have a good one, Everyone! And I can only hope a few of you non-voting folk will give serious thought to giving up on something else instead - something that isn't as near and dear to you and your family's future and best interests, and that won't affect your personal livelihoods in such a dire and disruptive way as what's coming from Capitol Hill.

Which begs the usual question around this blog: is the collapsing of American society the ultimate goal of Washington politicians?
In Ireland, the IMF is recommending (insisting) that the Irish minimum wage be lowered. How outrageous! And in America, President Barack Obama handed trillions of tax payer dollars to...the people who would spend them and infuse life into the US economy? Nope! To wealthy bankers who engineered the mess and who now cheer on the IMF and others who advise 'austerity cuts' against the people thereby demanding what money and dignity we have left!
So my question for you is: will November 25, 2010 become known as America's last Thanksgiving Day?
Maybe we should take a gobble down memory lane: the video of the President's Thanksgiving Day message to America during the embroilment of Financial Collapse 2008.
Wonder what he'll be able to say to us this year?

Rs not focused on ethics "at all"
Quelle relief!
For a while there I thought perhaps both old and new Republican congress members might focus on ethics during the 2011 session of Congress. But no frets around here, or on Capitol Hill for the GOP transition team leader assures us that, "We're not focused in on the ethics side of things at all."
Whew! That was close.
Except for one thing: if you've checked out my previous post from earlier today and have heard the Max Igan videos it contains, you may agree that addressing corruption in government and holding criminals accountable is the only sensible and efficient answer to engineering a we-the-people 'clawback' of our country based on Peaceful Resistance to the power elite's totalitarian one-world-government plans.
And when better to hold government and business criminals and their enablers accountable than in the midst of America's Saturn Return (which this time is a three-fer: exact on December 3, 2010, and on March 22 and August 28, 2011)?
For our ethics-promoting timekeeper Saturn's 29/30-year cycle says that this is precisely what it's time to do.

Senate returns Oct 12, 2010: Sun Lib-Moon Sag
The US Senate returns to their Masonic Temple (Capitol Building) tomorrow, October 12, 2010 with the Sun in Libra, Moon in Sagittarius, a personality blend which may give us clues concerning the atmosphere of the day.
Libra's mental airiness with Sagittarius' fiery questing and seeking functions give Tuesday a 'live wire' quality that crackles all the way down to Georgia from whence I type. Boredom will not be the order of the day!

This is a 'team player' combo possessing an optimistic and dedicated commitment to the group agenda. (That's what worries me - unless or until Congress gets serious about protecting America's sovereignty and the well being of we-the-people.)

US security needs are on the agenda.
And if the 29th-crisis-degreed Dec 21, 2010 Lunar Eclipse (here, in 1st house) affects the markets as previously predicted along with the finance-influencing Solar Eclipse of Jan 4, 2011 (opposing US natal Sun and also at a critical degree), troops may be held on stand-by and perhaps for good reason - to control the angry peasants. House passes Health Bill with Hygeia rising
Last evening at 11:07 pm est when the required 218 votes clocked in on the House as shown on C-SPAN, I was watching an animated chart of the scene. When Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the 15-minute vote had passed the bill, it was 11:15 pm.
At 11:15 pm est in the Capitol Building, 15Leo21 - the Heart of the Lion - was on the Ascendant with rising asteroid Hygeia 20Leo31, an appropriate picture of the proceedings. Eagle Point (15Leo) rising, transiting Saturn at a World Point of prominence 00Lib59 (just gone into 2nd house) conjunct US natal Mc in our 'Sibly' chart.
And at 11:07 pm President Obama's natal Sun was rising indicating a definite point scored for him. Saturn (the Democrats) continues his sit-in upon US natal Mc in the 'Sibly' chart - legislative (Saturn) success at the pinnacle (Mc) for the Dems - but hold on, Myrtle, there's that nasty square from transiting Pluto to consider.
Yet helpfully, string-pulling power-broker Pluto is making an applying aspect of opportunity with Lady Venus, a sextile (60 degr), so it's all good...for now.
Chart-ruler Sun 15Sco53 (the Eagle Point) has voting Mercury 17Sco37 nearby in 4th house. Mars 10Leo12 has just arisen and hides in 12th house (the lone Republican who voted for the bill?) Mars is loosely opposing Jupiter 18AQ17 on the Desc; Jupiter is finally off his Direct Station degree of Oct 14 (17AQ10.)
Since changing direction, Jupiterian issues have moved forward - ideals, expansion, and money.
This forms a T-Square of Mars/Jupiter pointing to an apex Sun...
Mars/Jup = Sun: organizational talent; leadership; success; resolving to correct errors of judgment; receiving respect; strong determination about life's objectives. (Munkasey; Tyl.)
Now this T-square indicates a waning (separating) square to the Sun (the lone Republican's blockage to bill's passage removed?) and an applying/waxing square from Jupiter, the planet that represents the GOP in a national chart. The Senate (Jup) has its role to play in stymieing positive reform on behalf of the American people, and at 2A23, it should be in the first part of the upcoming week that we hear of it - beginning on Monday, Nov 9 and probably bright and early, too.

I can imagine that some senators are chomping at the bit to begin making their undermining statements and promoting more confusions for the Neptunian cameras. In fact, the Aquarian trio traveling in tandem these days, Jupiter, Chiron (the healer), and Neptune are all squaring the Sun and Mercury in last evening's chart by sign if not degree, along with tr *Pandora whose action is expansive in similar fashion to Jupiter's abundane which can soon become over-abundance with Pandora's influence.
Moon (the people) is in 12th house @ 26Can23 but passed beyond the separative South Node. Perhpas we-the-people weren't paying as much attention as we might have been (12th house, the house of Hospitals) to last evening's vote. Venus has just entered Scorpio, sign of surgeries and big business...which brings me to my main beef about the 'House passes Health Bill' situation of Nov 7:

Uranus 22Pis56 Rx is in 8th house of Debt, Insurance, Credit, Shared Resources, Transformation, Death, so disruption and the unexpected may be expected concerning this legislation particularly with money matters.
Yet quirky, progressive Uranus trines the House bill's Sun (7A03) and Mercury (5A19) and federal funding for abortion may be the Death matter shown in the chart, waiting for the Senate to take it up. Last evening's Sun/Mercury/Uranus trines may show the Ds working out terms on abortion funding with the Vatican.
With tr Neptune conjunct US natal Moon these days, not much is as it seems, and of course Neptune is associated with mass media and propaganda as well as representing the masses, aka the collective. But it's for certain that Neptunian loss, theft, and veiling of true motives are part of the environment now...especially in the Capitol Hill corridors of power.
And I do think that Astrology has just uncovered Capitol Hillers' motives of the Zuben Eschemali kind.

Ron Paul video: his Audit the Fed bill has been gutted
From November 5 here's Rep. Ron Paul on the financial shell games going on and wouldn't we just know? His 'Audit the Fed' bill has been 'gutted' so in America it's to be financial politics as usual, folks. And the invisible man behind the curtain retains his magic wand for the same old sprinkling of the fairy dust of illusions and deceits over our tired, averted eyes.
You can't vanquish demons and improve bad behaviors that you won't identify and recognize as the core trouble-makers!

Four DC landmarks spotlighted in 'The Lost Symbol'
Since the original focus of Stars Over Washington has been our Founding Fathers as Freemasons, the White Lodge we call the 'White House', and the Masonic Temple that is the Capitol Building, it seemed incumbent upon me as this blog's author to find a web site featuring the four Washington DC landmarks that form the setting of Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol, a book which isn't garnering the best of praise in many Amazon book reviews.
One review made a basic point about The Lost Symbol that I found particularly salient: that The DaVinci Code was an impossible act to follow. Now this was a novel that I appreciated quite well, but found the film more than a little disappointing - it seemed to 'peter out' near the end and amount to very little, imo. Aka, a let-down.
(A let-down similar to congressional sausage-making on Capitol Hill, but that's another plot line of more dire proportions for the American people.)
So are you up for intrigue set in DC from the pen of author Brown?
How about a real world tour of the four landmarks featured in the novel? Well, the above linked site has historical details, hours of operation, and addresses of the four which include The Library of Congress, the Washington Monument (a monument to phallic symbols everywhere), the US Capitol Building, and the Smithsonian, with its 19 museums, 9 research centers, and zoo.
There's even a link provided to DC's Metro for train schedules, the best way to visit DC landmarks...whether you've read the book, or seen the movie or not.

America's 'Fall of Rome' in the news again
US debt will lead to a "Fall of Rome" scenario, as reported in Bloomberg News.
This concept is also covered ably in Chalmers Johnson's revelatory book, The Sorrows of Empire, which I've mentioned here before.
Mr. Chalmers states that "the final sorrow of empire (is) financial ruin" - and I say that this is what our 'leaders' have done for us in the last decades - through fraud, Ponzi schemes, greed for wealth and world domination, and the 'military industrial complex' that is now squeezing President Obama for more troops, more billions, and endless war.
And we-the-people's intuitions, desires, and needs fall unheeded by US imperialism's wayside.
So thanks, Capitol Hill, the Pentagon, and Wall Street. America wasn't knocked down from without but from within. Our founders would call that treason.
