Jupiter Hearts Pluto 2020: A Grand Year for Plutocracy and Exploitation

A previous post appeared here on SO'W concerning 2020's three conjunctions of financial planets Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn. Follow the link to view a tri-wheel of all three conjunction horoscopes set for Washington DC. Their conjunctions range from 24Cap53 (April 4, just passed), to 24Cap06 (June 30), and back to 22Cap52 (November 12), a highly fertilized degree area of the Zodiac this year. Of course, this area of Saturn-ruled Capricorn relates to banking and investment, bail-outs-loans-debt, government, laws, and other Saturnian realms such as authority, systems, structure, order, The Establishment, conservatism, Capitalism, management, stability, the past, and the status quo. Add Pluto and we have powerful religious or military figures, wealthy CEOs, prominent judges, organizers of large-scale projects, people with power or money to dispense, and plutocrats exploiting the masses.

Meanwhile, as the novel Coronavirus pandemic has laid bare, the time has come for 'the old' to be replaced by 'the new' and for those who 'speak astrologese' this is made obvious astrologically by the multiple Great Conjunctions of planets in 2020 that begin ticking away their new cycles in timely fashion. And as 2022 nears, many can feel Pluto approaching his natal degree in the US founding horoscope of 1776--the old order now turned gray around the muzzle. Major transformation now in progress!

Plus, Jupiter and Saturn Start Over Again in December

Of course, the Great Mutation (Conjunction in AIR) of societal planets Jupiter and Saturn will arrive at Winter Solstice 2020 (conjunction horoscope shown) to bookend the year and the era with a fresh beginning in the expansion-contraction realms of life. Plus, their Conjunction joins with America's POTUS Sun (that's US Inaugural Sun @00AQ+ since January 20, 1937 when Freemason FDR changed the Inaugural date from early March with its Pisces Sun).

So what might Jupiter-Saturn = POTUS Sun bring? Will positive leadership be shown? Must boasting from the White House continue? Will the US government's traditional checks and balances finally be crushed? How about the infiltrated, weakened US Justice System? Perhaps we'll find that leniency vs harshness issues turn up in legal, social, and/or economic systems. At the least, we can expect changes in government and/or repression based on morality and ethics (ethical asteroid Pallas conjoins the November Jupiter-Pluto conjunction--and the natal Vertex of Donald Trump). Of course, Pallas also signifies the daughter so Ivanka may be prominent in a new way come late October or early November.

Now below is the third of three conjunctions on November 12 of Jupiter and Pluto, a Plutocracy pair of speculation and inflated power cravings. Obviously, the blending of their energies relates to current bail-outs and other financial, social, and religious happenings going on in 2020 but this November horoscope catapults their energies into 2021 and remains active for about the next 13 years--actually all three of their Conjunction horoscopes remain active with the 13 years divided into quarters of influence. This method gives precedence to the April 5, 2020 chart for the next 4+ years until 2024 or so. (Their next Conjunction will be a one-fer on February 5, 2033 @14AQ50.)

Significant is that the November 12, 2020 Jupiter-Pluto Conjunction @22Cap51 is joined by a transiting midpoint of Mercury-Mars. This duo has political implications in the realms of debate, oration, and discussion. It also relates to powers of thought, determination, achievement and the spirit of enterprise. A few potentials of the midpoint pictures are penned on the chart, upper center, but there was no room to add: 'quarrels, judgments, rash actions, lawsuits and controversies, obstinacy', and/or 'retaliation' (Ebertin).

Lower right you see a 'YOD' or a semblance of one for one point of it is the Ascendant rather than a planet. However, midpoint pictures may be read with the Moon--leader of a Locomotive shape ruthlessly determined on success--Venus, and Trump's natal Jupiter because the Moon conjoins his 2nd house Jupiter. So we have potentials for:

Neptune-ASC = Venus:'showing dislike'; with Moon: disharmony; and DJT's Jupiter: 'the urge to cheat others, or, cheating others'; 'loss of money and/or possessions' (Ebertin).

And if you're looking for the applying aspects of chart-ruler Venus you'll find them, lower left, with a few possibilities. Yes, wastefulness and extravagance seem to be on the Jupiter-Pluto menu--but also total dominance over others.

And finally, the Prenatal Solar Eclipse in the difficult 4 North Saros Series occurring at Summer Solstice 2020 (@00Can21) influences the 2nd house of Money, Possessions, Values, Earning Ability, and the National Treasury with 4 North themes of: 'restriction, restraint, inhibition, separation ("social distancing"?), illusions, events that block, misjudgments of strength or the situation; wait until the eclipse passes before taking any real action' (Brady) which on one level I take to mean that our current sequestration measures should continue through the rest of 2020 and perhaps beyond. But with impatient Mars-rising Trump on the loose, what are the chances that caution will rule the day?

Feb 3, 2017: you'll remember that Mr. Trump and other of his minions threatened the ruination of the Dodd-Frank legislation and its protections for the American people and the US economy during his campaign and since, and today he's been chipping away at, and will ultimately destroy, its provisions. That seems reckless and irrational because, since having Dodd-Frank in place, the US economy has chugged along under an Obama administration the last eight years while the dandies on Wall Street have been doing just dandy fine. The DOW even broke through the 20,000-point barrier recently and still Mr. Trump is determined to use a sledge hammer where some patching up would do:

But you know those reactionary Republicans--they're attempting the same overkill with Obamacare (the ACA) when it only needs some major patching up in order to be improved--without causing too much strife for those who need its coverage. To this particular Child of the Revolution it seems that the Trumpians are trying their best to send an enraged We the People into the streets with pitchforks raised so the thugs can try out their nifty military style police and other brutal forces against us (not recommended).

It seems to me that the American people should be well ready by now to demand an end to draconian oppression by a government that sentences citizens harshly for a crumb of marijuana while letting Big Bankers (translation: Big-Bank Robbers, money launderers, inside traders) walk free with no negative consequences after the global heist they perpetrated a few years ago. They know what they did.

Tragically, the level of criminality winked at by a nation is the level of the government that fails to protect its own people from such abuse, then commits it. So maybe that's it! Money grubbing abuse of power is the game for those who dare cross the line of honor and decency while pretending to be politicians and civil officials "serving" on behalf of "We the People". The old of-by-for is considered an antiquated relic of the past (along with nation-states and the US Constitution) by the futurist zealots and sociopath Utopians who imagine themselves as the powers that be.

Now you and I have previously discussed here the mysterious 'put options' that were traded just in time for the WTC attacks of 9/11/01 and the ($1.7 billion in) missing gold bullion that had been stored in the basement/s of the WTC buildings--until that morning when thousands of people were murdered.

Turns out that people's lives weren't all that was stolen for it seems a tremendous heist took place on 9/11/01 along with massive insider trading perpetrated by major corporations--the usual suspects. Surprising?

Here are details if you're curious, plus, a 5-minute video on the subject which you might find quite illuminating:

You know, I always thought that transit Pluto at 12Sag conjunct US natal Ascendant (the nation itself) on 9/11/01 meant that the US government was the more powerful actor in the Saturn-Pluto opposition (with tr Saturn conjunct US natal Descendant of Partnership, Others, and Open Enemies.) So with the above info factoring in the 'major corporations', including big banks (that remain 'too big to fail' especially since tax payers were forced to bail them out against our good judgment), it seems to me to indicate underworld Pluto representing the wealthy actors with riches hidden in secret places, and Saturn, planet of government, law, and business, as the old order they were determined to collapse by way of a "new Pearl Harbor".

And some if not all big banks are said to be launderers of drug money with Scorpionic Pluto a master at drug trafficking, as you know, for it has supplied a large part of his wealth for centuries.

Yes, The Tower card in the Tarot (#16) comes handily to mind as does the Pre-Natal Eclipse Saros Series of George W. Bush, the 2 New North, which manifested prior to his birth and again prior to the 2000 presidential 'election' (or, selection, if you prefer.) The theme of the 2 New North happens to be: 'a sudden collapse of plans or lifestyle; confusion may reign; the long term effects are of rebuilding and transformation after the dust has settled; the reshaping will have far-reaching effects; a person's direction is changed through the sudden collapse of an existing structure' (paraphrasing Brady's Predictive Astrology, my italics.)

Perhaps you agree that it wasn't only people's lives including Bush's and the Twin Towers that changed on 9/11 but the 'existing structure' that was transformed was the United States of America via subsequent wars fought on credit card, the US 'Patriot' Act, and the cluster f**k they call (in Germanic fashion), Homeland 'Security'. And remember how propagandists touted the inability of spy agencies to "connect the dots" before 9/11? Knitting the agencies together was part of the plan as well yet even now they still use whenever needed their lack of dot-connecting as an excuse for failure.

And of course, 9/11/01 rippled directly toward the Bush-Cheney Heist of December 2008 when they cleaned us out before leaving the White House. You know they did.

July 22 2013 Aquarius Full Moon a 'supermoon'

Yes, today at 2:16 pm edt, a Full Moon perfects @00AQ05 and is, in fact, a 'supermoon', a phenomenon labeled as such by master astrologer Richard Nolle.

Some say the Act was never a foolproof remedy for our national infestation of banking crooks, mobsters, and foolish risk-takers of Wall Street, and perhaps not. But it did keep the worst of their financial fraud tamped down for decades by the separation of banks' commercial and investment branches and kept the FDIC guarantee for use as it was intended--not for Corporate Welfare--but on behalf of We The People.

If Senator Warren's effort can't decouple within big banks what fairly should be parted asunder on behalf of the common good, this may be our last chance. Failure in this effort is 'not acceptable' (as politicians like to say) and there are masses more of us than there are of the oh-so-dainty elite!

Ever since the Bush-Cheney Heist of 2008, when I think of America's big banks and the banksters and mobsters that run and profit obscenely from them, I think of the Sabian Symbol for America's Mars which turned retrograde by progression in Summer 2006 @19 Libra: "A Gang of Robbers in Hiding." However, only some of them are tucked away in ivory towers and luxuriously leathered libraries--the rest are 'hiding in plain sight' on Wall Street, usually. The mainstream media (and others) talk to them all the time and interview them even though the old southern adage "butter wouldn't melt in his mouth" applies to such varmints who behave and are treated as if they deserve some kind of respect from honest folk instead of receiving the prison sentences that crimes like fraud and theft merit in what is allegedly a law abiding society.

With only 6% of US financial assets held by Credit Unions and by banks that are actually banks (which along with non-profit credit unions) benefit the middle class, working families, and small businesses, the monarchical, corporate-ruled, foreign-infiltrated US Congress is being encouraged by Wall Street mega-banks to tax credit union banks. Wall Street and its handmaidens on Capitol Hill are working claw in glove to proceed with this economy-weakening plan in which We the People are the losers and the weedy grealthy win yet another jackpot at our expense.

For the big banks feeling 'disadvantaged' by their non-profit colleagues (exs: Bank Robbers of America, Goldman-Sucks--juvenile nicknames, yet descriptive), it's about undermining the competition so I hope you'll check out CU Tax Letters Stack Up at Congress' Door which explains the situation much better than I can grouse about it (I switched from a big-name bank years ago to a credit union bank and I much prefer its lower fees which will subsequently increase under the proposed taxing plan.)

So if we care about this issue, we mustn't only lament until the perfidy is made 'law' but we must make some loud noises with our own representatives!

Astro-Notes on Sun Scorpio-Moon Scorpio and November 13, 2012

Perhaps you're looking forward to the November 13, 2012 Solar Eclipse @22Scorpio for it occurs close enough to the November 6, 2012 elections to influence them (within two weeks.) Plus, the eclipse degree conjoins the 12th cusp in the US natal horoscope of July 4, 1776 5:10 pm LMT, Phildadelphia, PA, and as you know, the 12th house in Mundane or Political Astrology is the realm of Politics, Back Door Deals, Large Institutions, Karma, and Self-Undoing.

Yet nothing can stay hidden forever and eclipses, Solar and Lunar, are well known for revealing scandalous goings-on of all kinds. Thanks to Big Banks and their lousy bankers, Libor rate-rigging has been around a few years but is just now coming to public attention, thanks in large part to Matt Taibbi's excellent Rolling Stone article of July 3, Why Is Nobody Freaking Out about the Libor Banking Scandal? Scorpio Eclipse Notes

The emotional Water-Water Sun Scorpio-Moon Scorpio blend is intense, uncompromising, wary, and suspicious. The nation's 'Coup by Assad' horoscope of November 13, 1970 will be 'hit' by the eclipse which will fall on its natal Sun (leader), and on its natal Ascendant since the coup took place "at dawn" (Campion's Book of World Horoscopes) on that date. So the Assad regime has a Solar Eclipse for its Solar Return 'anniversary' of the coup when he took power and control of Syria. And since he's said to have flown the coop from Damascus to a coastal town, one may expect Assad may go into exile if he isn't arrested or killed first.

Remember The Fifth of November? And a G20 Summit in Cannes

Through all the economic hoopla in the news you've heard by now of Bank Transfer Day which crescendos this Saturday, November 5, 2011.

Any day is a good day to leave a Big Bank and open a Credit Union Bank account which is what this blogger did about three years ago. Have I looked back? You know I haven't! It gave me a great sense of relief to be out of the clutches.

Yet what may be the ultimate result of millions of Americans transferring their financial accounts from Big to smaller financial organizations remains to be seen particularly for those whose home mortgages must necessarily remain hostage to Big Banks and their corrupt practices.

Best case scenario is that hopefully, by using credit union banks, we won't have to fret over drug money laundering as with Big Banks, and perhaps corporate banking 'special interests' will lose some of their thumb-on-scales clout with the *pocket-lining politicians of Capitol Hill.

Should we hold our breaths?

Oops! 1912 cartoon warned against creating the Fed

Here's a blast from the past, a 1912 cartoon warning against the banker-supported Aldrich Plan which opened the gate for the creation of the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States, a central bank such as President Andrew Jackson was so determined to root out of the American system for he recognized them for the illuminized government take-over artists they were.

As you know, the Bankers' Panic of 1907 was used as the justification (cover) for setting up a central bank the likes of which have orchestrated financial booms, bubbles, busts, and crashes ever since. America Ours or Theirs? We-the-People v Corporate Interests

Beginning on October 6, 2011 in Freedom Square, Washington DC, the majority of the American people have an opportunity to show our strength in numbers and turn up for non-violent resistance against the corporate direction America has taken which is now displayed by presidential hopefuls who are not speaking to the true condition of this nation but furthering the corporatist agenda.

The October 2011 Movement will mark the 10th anniversary of America's invasion of Afghanistan, a war that rages on while being a part of the bankrupting--financially and morally--of our nation. (Such extremist dynamics are explained below in the historical Timeline you'll find linked near the end of this post.)

Click the site's link above to sign a petition pledging to be in Washington DC on or after October 6, 2011, and check out the movement's Human Needs, Not Corporate Greed agenda which tallies most closely with the majority's sentiments and desires at this crucial time in US history.

Plus, you know that October 2011 times the beginning of the 2012 federal austerity budget at a time when government spending should be expanded, not curtailed, if we wish our nation to continue its existence. (Why, it's almost as if a coup is underway! And the austerity touters are foaming at the corners of their corporate mouths to hurriedly create more loss, despair, and poverty in this country than their cold heartedness already has. It feels like we-the-people are in their crosshairs.

What To Do Now? We Are Not Powerless!

Then will we-the-people allow transnational corporations to continue ruling what should be our citizens' roost? Can we-the-people watch as Arab Spring protests lead the way in standing up to the tyranny of dictatorship while we busy ourselves playing trivial, inconsequential Smart Phone games? If so, that would make 'Smart' Phones more intelligent than we are!

Now keep in mind the basic tenet of the October 2011 Movement: non-violent resistance. The protest begins 8 days prior to the dedication of the new monument honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr on the Washington Mall on August 28, 2011, the precise day of America's Saturn Return (#3 of 3 conjunctions by transiting Saturn to US natal Saturn 14Lib48--Saturn is exalted in Libra, sign of the Balanced Scales of Justice, a balance our Justice Department tends to fall short of on a regular basis.)

Of course, Saturn rules such things as stone, granite, monuments, and permanence, along with matters such as responsibility, accountability, restriction, and austerity--and austerity is what the current US status-quo governing body and its corporate backers (bankers) have in mind for the entire US population's future. But the power elite's accountability for the resulting consequences (suffering, loss, despair) of their wealth-pilfering measures will somehow, they think, be avoided with only the disenfranchised taking the fall and paying the price they highhandedly set and extract...blood from a stone?

Income Inequality, a Gap That Can Be Closed!

Yes, Pluto/Chiron's plutocracy and oppression never had it so good in America since the late 1920s and 1930s. Will we-the-people sit down for this? Or stand up and be counted on October 6, 2011?

Lessons from an Arab Spring

People acting in accord in large numbers in a coordinated fashion can deprive any tyrant of legitimacy by asserting their discontent and withdrawing any and all consent to a tyrant's rule--tyranny can be resisted! This includes the tyranny of big banks, for as you know, the US Federal Reserve wears a 'federal' or 'public' mask while acting as the private corporation of governors and share holders it really is.

Yet even nonviolent resistance can bring difficulties to a population--but what are we facing at their hands now with Austerity 2012 about to be implemented in full earnest? Sadly, US presidents are powerless against these actors since all are placed in the Oval Office by the same elite forces and powers of Big Money and Corporatism that undermine our nation as I type.

Even readers who disagree with this author's continual harping upon a One World Government conspiracy against us, our hopes, and dreams cannot fail to see that current events are undermining this nation's people, sovereignty, and future. What the despots have in mind for our children and their children is demonstrated in the austerity measures now being established.

President Barack Obama, Our Hero? Not So Much

Considering his recent flowery rhetoric and grand plans for jobs creation, I do hope President Obama's ideas for improving our lot are implemented very soon to bolster the US economy, but really: without banding together, what are our chances for real improvement given the last almost-three years of expended political capital, 'free' trade touting (and now, new calls for same), and corporate advice too readily whispered in our Oval Office out of our earshot?

My fret today is that we-the-lazy must finally face the fact that only by our own efforts will America be rescued from the global banking syndicate of crime, take-overs, and greed. Will a Progressive leaders arise? We need them Now!

So is there Anyone who still holds dear the quixotic notion that 'corporations are people' who care nary a fig for those not members of the power elite class? Shall we be snuffed out without a whisper of complaint?

I pray our damaging direction will be diverted and I ask that if you are reading this post and agree with supporting nonviolent resistance against the heartless, imperial path this warring nation's government insists upon, you will stand with the October 2011 Movement by passing along the word, and/or donating to the cause, and, if possible, showing up in Freedom Square on or after October 6, 2011 to add your voice to this protest!

For if America was worth the blood, sweat, and tears it took to found her, how can we-the-people possibly allow our nation to lapse into a plutocratic, theocratic tailspin?

Not mentioned is October 6th participant Matthew Rothschild in this intriguing Timeline of The History of the House of Rothschild by Andrew Hitchcock which includes info on attempted and successful assassinations of US presidents, and on the American 'Civil' War and the reasons it was fomented and fought. Also, President Andrew Jackson's battle against the central bank of the US is noted, the first of which was instituted under the guidance of Rothschild agent, Alexander Hamilton, a rat in George Washington's cabinet, and a political foe of Thomas Jefferson.

Its eventual success was assured in December 1913 when an infiltrated US Congress passed the Federal Reserve Act and thus we see how 'The Fed' works against the American people today.

Note: My last sentence in no way lumps in my personal sentiments or beliefs with those of Texan Rick Perry's recent 'treasonous' critique of the Fed's Ben Bernanke which may or may not have been sincere on Perry's part. The 2012 candidate is just another tiresome Republican corporatist shill after all, mavericky as his personality may seem. But he'll tow the H of R line if he wants to enter the Oval Office as Commander-in-Thief because to become US president, you must agree to be led by the nose by the global banking syndicate and its agents. Ah yes, I remember the glory days of 2008 when I kept harping here on SO'W about the transit of constricting Saturn to US natal Neptune in Virgo...Neptune, planet of dreams and aspirations, in Virgo, sign of Work, Health, and Discrimination. Planetary Returns Illustrate History Repeating

One more thing for those who speak astrologese: if you scroll down the sidebar a bit to 'Politics Then and Now' you'll find a new addition of the Herbert Hoover Inauguration horoscope of March 4, 1929. In the chart you'll see that Jupiter is in Taurus--near where Mr. Moneybags is now--and rebellious Uranus is in early Aries (as now), signifying the radical Utopians forcing corporate-backed demands which will crash the US government while holding hostage US workers, veterans, the elderly, ill, disabled, poor, and disadvantaged children...the ones they think can't fight back.

Of course, many people are putting the "holding hostage" label upon current Debt Deal proceedings but that implies paying ransom for people you want back. Yet as we know, they don't want us back, they want us gone.

So here are the dates of both planets' returns to their Hoover 1929 degrees and you can see by the first one that the time period has already begun and points directly at the Debt Deal from Hades which Mr. Obama signed--privately--into law today.

If Astrology serves, it looks to me as if the rest of Mr. Obama's presidency will be unfavorably compared to the irksome, financially disastrous presidency of Herbert Hoover more often, not less, than it's been before. And what did Mr. Hoover do? He didn't do!

But he did contract and restrict (Saturn) spending when he should have invested (Jupiter) in America the Beautiful on behalf of the American people to whom our nation belongs.

Pluto loves Drug Money Laundering on Wall Street

An article Wall Street is laundering drug money and getting away with it places emphasis on Wachovia, the bank this blogger deserted earlier this year and began doing business at a credit union bank.

Well! If that's the sort of thing Wachovia has been up to, what might WikiLeaks' threatened release of Bank of America's private documents hold in store?

The term 'money laundering' always reminds me of a certain Sabian Symbol for '22 Sagittarius' which opposes US natal Mars in Gemini. This makes '22Sag' an Illumination Point of unconscious material concerning our national Mars (energy; action; motivation; warmongering.) And transiting *Pluto, the dragon guarding all the treasure, danced upon and within orb of '22Sag' off and on during the Bush-Cheney years.

'22Sag' = "A Chinese Laundry" = SECLUSION...

positive expression: an unusual gift for maintaining poise and self-perspective in every unfamiliar or alien situation;

negative/unconscious/shadow side: unnecessary acceptance of self-inferiority.

In his book The Sabian Symbols in Astrology, Marc Edmund Jones goes on to explain this degree as "complete self-refinement through the unsuspected or even generally unaccepted activities of a community,...a richness of living comes from a concentration on goals with remote reward, and from an association in spirit with souls of very high achievement."

Now Dr. Jones was not writing the above while thinking about the selling out of America by the US Congress (or of the Chinese poppy trade), yet spiritual associations with 'souls of very high achievement' can on a level describe the Temple of Greed worshiped on Wall Street (with gold-lover Mithras' Taurean Bull on proud display) while implicating Templar Knights and other such secret society actors who have used their control of the global banking industry to financially collapse this and other nations.

Theirs is an overarching agenda long planned and is now, before our eyes, being implemented at a faster and faster pace as the mutually agreed upon years 2011 and 2012 draw near. Mutually agreed upon because the cycle in the Mayan Calendar which ends on December 21, 2012 has already put the Great Awakening vs Great Catastrophe scenario and potential in every one's minds (and unconsciouses) and made it suitable and amenable for any and all financial and political exploitation.

If the laundering of drug money by one of America's largest banking corporate 'communities' isn't 'unsuspected or even generally unaccepted activities' then I guess I can't imagine what is. Personally I do not find Wachovia or Wall Street's activities acceptable in general or otherwise. Do you?

Ron Paul video: the coming hyper-inflation

Rep. Ron Paul says we have the Fed to thank for the coming hyperinflation.

And the US Congress refuses to audit the Fed, even once. With so many rats in the financial woodpile, it was no surprise they declined to open a window on the Federal Reserve Bank of the USA for Congress' own complicity would blow through.

You know, President Andrew Jackson was no fan of big banks way back when and, on an astrological note, I remind you that Jackson was elected under a Saturn/Uranus opposition just as was President Obama...1828 - 2008.

With Mr. Obama's golden 'Goldman Sachs cabinet' of helpers, it's difficult to see how he can successfully fight off the excessive influence of big banks to the people's satisfaction and protection. It will be interesting to see what Congress comes up with in the realm of financial reform assuming that their political posturings come to an end long enough to pass a bill that reins in the banking gentry who bankroll their political campaigns.

And there are those making the case that the US government's response to the Gulf oil spill favors the government's response to the 2008 Financial Crisis - that they're doing more harm than good.

Also, FireDogLake has some of the better coverage on the BP oil spill and you'll find there a petition to sign if you wish telling President Obama to back off from offshore drilling for now and pursue clean energy as he's always said he would do. If he ever meant it, he now has a very very good excuse with the majority of the country behind him.

Recent 'impressive' profit reports seemed more than a little abracadabra-esque to me and it turns out that (for once) I called it: the big banks' rosy profit numbers have a sorcerer's apprentice quality to them.
