Social Security, Saturn, and the 118th Congress

With the US House of Representatives now controlled by far-righters in the Republican Party, it's beyond time to consider the Astrology of the social safety net that millions of Americans depend upon (inner chart; SS 1935) surrounded by the January 3, 2023 Horoscope of the 118th Congress - specifically the House members who act as saboteurs of our safety and peace of mind.

As you can see, attacks and interference issue from a variety of sources and actors (planets) - there's even a generational clash between Pluto opposing Pluto, an ongoing condition that has been in force for some time - and more significant due to America's first-ever Pluto Return. And of course, the 'clash of ideologies' and 'persecutions' of Neptune in shady, contagious Pisces opposing US 1776 Neptune in fact-based Virgo, the victim-savior axis, has brought its own difficulties and disasters.

So through wealthy hoarder Pluto ('the assassin') we find that the opposition describes circumstances as a Cancer (ruler Moon: the people's needs, security) affair challenged by Capricorn (ruler Saturn: business, investment, government, law), and we see this starkly playing out (penned in the center of the bi-wheel) against the American public with 2023 Saturn @22AQ41 conjunct 1935 Moon with all the suffering, worry, and loss this transit can bring to the struggling have-nots and the working class in particular. In fact, Saturn-opposing-Moon is a shorthand way to symbolically identify conditions in our society if the fabric of the US social safety net programs - inadequate as they may be - breaks down and is turned into a massive heist perpetrated by the monied classes of Wall Street and their handmaidens in Washington DC. And besides those vulture capitalists, Put*n may be waiting for his pay-off along with other foreign governments.

Yet for years the American people have known such conditions have been threatened because Republicans have promoted cuts and worse for decades with Social Security benefits and Medicare under their knives of austerity on behalf of wealthy donors such as Wall Street gentry and corporatists who are desperate to steal more billions from the American people.

The Love of Money Is the Root of All Evil

Obviously, selfishness, greed, and causing loss and harm to others are their motivations. And this is part of a depopulation agenda, in case you've yet to notice, as a high-stakes tug-of-war for ultimate control and power (Pluto) plays out over our heads (through a Cancer vs Capricorn lens). That Pluto rules the Criminal Underworld is a major factor and we can expect to see even more destructive criminal activity once transit Uranus reaches the Neptune-Pluto Conjunction (@7-9 Gemini in 1891/92 = robber barons) in 2027.

Now as you see above, planetary contacts from 2023 planets to those of 1935 such as 2023 Uranus (disruptive anarchists, zealots, and fanatics) opposes Social Security's money planet Jupiter @15Sco06 in 1935. This suggests that changes (which may come suddenly with erratic Uranus - or not at all if President Biden and congressional Democrats manage to stop the onslaught!) can have unpredictable and/or unexpected results or consequences. Not that devil-take-the-hindmost political saboteurs of America care about details.

One thing I must wonder about is this: if Republicans and their enablers have their way against FDR's very popular New Deal programs that benefit the American people, who do corporatists expect will have money enough to buy their products and services if seniors and others are reduced to penury? Well, maybe it's about the culling of the herd, no matter what. You know, the old 'success at any cost' as long as it's someone else's loss.

Because there are several other contacts worth considering for a fuller picture of the trouble we're in, and do note that Social Security's Saturn, karmic planet of old age, responsibility, and accountability but also of loss, restriction, debt, and deprivation, will return to natal position (8Pis03) on February 14, 2024, the year of the next US Presidential Election and just prior to the upcoming Great American Eclipse in the 8 North Saros Series when dreams and visions will be prominent, and the 8 North eclipse's path of totality will cut a swath from Southwest to Northeast.

Another factor worthy of concern is that dry Saturn @8Pisces conjuncts US 1776 Ceres (grains, food supplies, democracy) and the 1776 Pluto-Chiron midpoint, so if there are any doubts about who's behind the dearth and austerity - it's American Plutocrats in league with Global Plutocrats who want it all.

But what they don't want is democracy.

Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces: Impressionability; Pathological Inclinations; Financial Schemes and Fraud

With Midterms 2022 quickly approaching, it's typical that the US economy and household budgets are on most Americans' minds, thanks in large part to inflationary price-gouging by corporations (many of which funded death-cult leader and seditionist) Trump's January 6th coup attempt, ongoing.

Such financial schemes are partially described as a Jupiter-Neptune affair of grand schemes and speculation, with their new and current cycle beginning on April 12, 2022 @23Pis59.

Then notably, when wealth-hoarding power-player Pluto Stations on October 8, 2022 @26Cap06 (in process of completing America's first-ever Pluto Return), transit Neptune will still be spreading its wide-girthed gaseousness all over the dreamy 23Pisces+ position in its April 12, 2022 conjunction horoscope. Illusion, delusion, and fanaticism are indicated along with a search for truth. And from these cosmic influences, society may experience a continuation of unreasonable plans, or perhaps a transformation - or collapse - of them.

And so, my friends, if you share my common good leanings at all, you're mighty fed up with Predatory Capitalism exploiting the American people into penury, ruining our children's futures, and undermining our country in every way it can devise. One way that such concerns may be studied is via the Pluto-Chiron cycle of Plutocracy, exploitation, racism, Capitalism, Socialism, Fascism (other -isms), and the primal violence and cruelty now on the rise in society. Their current cycle began anew on December 30, 1999 @11Sag22, conjunct what some astrologers continue to use as America's founding Ascendant (late afternoon of July 4, 1776). Yet whether we place the Pluto-Chiron Conjunction of December 1999 upon our US 1776 Ascendant or not - their 60-year cycle relating to Collective consciousness and a mass need - the troubling conditions are expressing loudly in this, the not-so New Millennium, a new cycle announced by the Pluto-Chiron Conjunction and in other ways, so that we now find unfettered Plutocracy of the economic royalist class and its enablers shoving America and the US government into a downward spiral of tyranny and misery.

Now as you know, multiple foreign actors are 'in on' the big picture with the expected objective of removing the US from global leadership on behalf of Russia and China (countries that are unable to reach such elevated positions by their merits so they have to cheat to gain advantages - like Trump). And yes, this is a topic fussed about multiple times here on SO'W so I won't repeat such fusses in this, my Friday post of the week, except to mention that atomic and nuclear concerns are also within the realms of Pluto-Chiron.

Suffice to say in closing, it is imperative that every American Vote in the Midterms Elections of November 2022, and again in the November 2024 elections, despite any and all obstacles.

Because as Thom Hartmann and multiple others are saying, democracy is on the ballot in November 2022 and in 2024.

Therefore, when it comes to rational pro-constitutional citizens, the crushing of our democratic Republic under the boot of brutal authoritarian fascist dictators with neo-Nazism on their evil minds is simply not an option.

America's initial Mars-Pluto Cycle

Recently, we discussed America's initial Mercury-Pluto and Mars-Neptune Cycles. Another significant planetary cycle for our country is the forceful, dynamic Mars-Pluto Cycle, a pair that tends to carry karmic undertones within:

America's Mars-Pluto Cycle, shown above, began with their conjunction on December 24, 1775 @25Cap:35:17 during what were combustible times full of war, brutality, violent assaults, forcible suppression, oppression, subversion, injuries, and death. Yet also in those Revolutionary days, daring and courage were shown by many, along with feats of superhuman strength. Astrologically speaking, when Mars, planet of desire, is the stronger planet within the Mars-Pluto duo, energies tend toward the selfish, greedy, egotistical side but when transpersonal planet Pluto directs the action via highly developed individuals, such base desires are kept under control so that tremendous powers of regeneration are possible and which can actually benefit humanity.

Of course in more modern times, for most Americans it's unsurprising that our nation's Mars-Pluto Cycle in governmental Capricorn, ruled by karmic planet Saturn, directly connects to such things as FDR's Arsenal of Democracy speech and the campaign it announced because weapons of war, the distributing and sales of them, and the implication of protecting the national security of America were and are part of the Pentagon's mission, its reason for existence. 'Spreading Democracy' around the globe is America's typical justification for waging war and carrying out various operations, yet deception and progaganda tend to be necessary in order to hoodwink the American people into supporting and fighting the wars of old men. Motivation is everything, and plundering the resources (and the women) of other lands is a tactic as old as the hills - and unfortunately, the US military has been turned into a gargantuan jobs program which assures warmongers such as private contractors and mercenaries that their gravy trains will continue chugging along the same old crooked tracks.

Now part of it all in relation to the forceful, brutal Mars-Pluto duo, is the fact that US Mars turned retrograde ('Rx') by progression in 2006 - once in multi-tasking Gemini in 1776 and ready for action, then through the years Mars symbolically progressed through Cancer, Leo, Virgo, and into Libra, thereby activating concerns over the moral weaknesses of others. This condition has led to inwardly turned energies and aggression (exs: mass shootings; police violence against non-violent citizens; police officers assaulted on Jan 6th; US soldiers disabled in war, misogyny, pedophilia, hypocrisy, underhanded behavior, anti-social activities such as Klan marches, online relationships instead of real world ones, and more). Obviously, such a Rx condition is frustrating for activist Mars (aka, 'the shooter', 'the assassin', 'the arsonist'), for Mars is the planet that embodies the concept of energetic forward movement. Why, activism is his jam!

Powerful If Invisible Pluto the Plutocrat

Meanwhile, US Pluto was already Rx in 1776 (pulling strings from abroad?) but with the ongoing US Pluto Return all through 2022, powerful plutonian energies are activated in a titanic way, and, thanks to our Mercury-Pluto opposition of 1776, surveillance and the power of secret knowledge are even more prominent in society, with America's 1776 Mercury being opposed once again (in 'real time') by transit Pluto. This transit provides us with an intense, troubled, transitional period of chaos, disruption, and turmoil when investigation, research, secret information, disinformation, and power-seeking are top of the national menu. And this, just as America's structures, systems, traditions, and social fabric are under extreme duress thanks to entities both foreign and domestic. As you've noticed, America as a 'failed state' is the primary goal of saboteurs and it long has been.

Then to make matters more complex, confusing, eroding, and subversive, transit Neptune in Pisces has chimed in by opposing US 1776 Neptune in Virgo with its persecution vibes and a global clash of ideals and beliefs - and that, across the victim-savior Virgo-Pisces axis, with the exploitation of the masses via the utilization of corruption and fraud an ongoing issue for our country, and across the world.

Karma: A Natural Law of Consequences That Even America Can't Evade Forever

Admittedly yes, as a descendant of CSA soldiers, my belief is that promoters of a new version of the old Confederacy now play an integral role in the current campaign to sabotage our federal government, and to divide and conqueror the American people just as such hidden forces did in the mid-1800s (hint: international banking houses and war profiteers, the corporatists of their day). Meanwhile, malevolent, opportunistic operatives have had their own selfish motives for enabling the splitting of America into factions, grudge-filled hatred being one of them, then and now. How very 'Mars-Pluto' of them.

Old Man Capricorn = Government, Law, and Business

Now my suspicion is that everyone following political events through the venerable lens of Astrology knows that the 21-to-30-degree range of Capricorn is highly sensitized these days, not the least of which is due to the harsh, compressive Saturn-Pluto Conjunction of January 12, 2020. Recommended is a 'noon' Horoscope of The Confederacy 1861 where you'll find a cooperative Venus-North-Node conjunction @23Capricorn of 'like-minded individuals'. Plus, here's a link to the Confederate Constitution Horoscope of March 11, 1861 with its North Node @21Cap02 - 'hit' by the January 12, 2020 Great Conjunction of Saturn and Pluto (with NN: 'misery of the masses' - R. Ebertin). Note that the post contains a link to the text of the 1861 document as provided by the Avalon Project. It's a fanciful relic that today's saboteurs are determined to re-animate.

So as you know, eclipse cycles and historical cycles can be compared for they relate to one another in ways that I often refer to as 'cosmic time links'. Therefore, when comparing earthly events with the cosmic occurrences which reflect them during certain periods of history (and considering that "1776" was one of the code words during the January 6, 2021 coup attempt still ongoing), a Timeline of the Revolutionary War might just come in handy.

And as Thom Hartmann always reminds us, "Democracy is not a spectator sport - get out there and get active!"

Horoscopes: America's Jupiter Returns 2013 and 2025

April 22, 2021: Nope, not a whole bunch of text today, only two DC Horoscopes showing America's current Jupiter Return which perfected on July 22, 2013 (lower left - 2021 Uranus across the top/MC = crisis; reforms), and our nation's next Jupiter Return on July 5, 2025 (upper right). Significant is our country's 1776 Jupiter's rounded-up degree of '6 Cancer' and its very descriptive Sabian Symbol, "Game Birds Feathering Their Nests" which implies the greed which is the sickness at the core of the Plutocracy through the auspices of which this idealistic experiment called America was begun. And with expansive Jupiter involved, in general our society's tendency toward greed seems only to have grown.

Now as you know, Jupiter is exalted (works best) when in Moon-ruled Cancer, a business-oriented sign of home, family, protection, and needs met. So approximately every 12 years since 1776, when transit Jupiter returns to its July 4, 1776 degree (5Can55:59), the same conjunctions re-form which were in force on that day with our natal Venus and Sun with potentials for - Jupiter to Venus: desire for luxury; potential benefits; fortunate alliances; compromised principles; Jupiter to Sun: ego expansion; self-indulgence; generosity; self-inflating tactics; more money, knowledge, and/or awareness; grand plans.

Note: Mundane Jupiter = expansion, freedom, ideals, philosophy, justice, protection, exploration, discovery, boundary-breaking, good fortune, breakthroughs, finance, banking, investment, politics, religion, corporatism, gurus, thespians, professors, lawyers, judges, and more.

As you see, 2013 Moon @25Cap36 has been catalyzed multiple times by recent transits such as transit Pluto (today @26Cap48) to Moon, another crisis indicator that also suggests the emotional and physical trauma and abuse that so many people are suffering for a variety of reasons. Intense turmoil and overwhelming circumstances are denoted but as with every transit, the influences will pass. However, transit Pluto will be opposing 2013 Sun (29Can48 = '30Cancer' = "A Daughter of the American Revolution") showing that our contest-of-wills/no-compromise political conditions concerning US leadership (Sun) will continue in relation to Jupiterian circumstances, conditions, and people, any of which are noted above. Take your pick!

So until on or about July 5, 2025, check current transits if you wish, for we remain under the influences of America's 2013 Jupiter Return with its chart-ruler, the Sun, making only one applying aspect in the chart, a square to Saturn @4Sco59 conjunct IC (4:50) suggesting a continuation of concentration on business and the need for hard work. Plus, Saturn/4th house indicates links to real estate, mining, natural resources, and, if the American people can be that fortunate despite the plutocatic oppression that weighs so many of us down, to the conservation and preservation of our homeland and its resources:

You know, Trump's natal 2nd hou$e Jupiter-Neptune conjunction (bubbles, speculation; waste, grand schemes, financial fraud and corruption - with his wounded/wounding Chiron snugged between!) is the perfect vehicle through which a financial collapse of America is being implemented, as we now see. And of course, these conditions are aided mightily by Pluto's creep through structural Capricorn, sign of government, law, and business. Yet there is a small amount of comfort in knowing that transit Pluto has been opposing Trump's natal Saturn in watery Cancer and bringing him challenges and a few failures in his abuse-of-authority-and-power department!

Democracy For Who? Do The Poor Have A Say? - Thom Hartmann (plus Ceres!)

In Mundane Astrology I tend to use asteroid Ceres as a marker for democracy, aka, Democracy. However, these days, America's fabled streak of Plutocracy has grown wider than ever and we find that on July 4, 1776 our Ceres Rx @8Pisces41 conjoined the 1776 natal Pluto-Chiron midpoint with the midpoint's plutocracy, exploitation, primal violence, and racism implications now coming to fruition across the land. And where is Ceres in transit as I type? At 11Pis38 which suggests that in 2020, America is actually in the midst of a three-fer Ceres Return due to the asteroid's retrogradation.

Exact dates of America's current Ceres Return/s are: May 28 (passed obviously); August 14; and December 20, 2020, the last a significant date for other reasons. Hopefully by December, solutions may be found, presented, or even implemented to address at least some of our nation's thorny issues within the realms of Ceres.

This may be possible since a Ceres Return spotlights our national Ceres concerns (in compassionate Pisces!) such as nurturing, home and family, parenting, food supplies (food chains), agricultural concerns and practices, protective instincts, and democracy with a cosmic laser beam to be dealt with in 2020 and, hopefully, to result in improvements for the population of our country which, whether Republicans and other selfish Ayn-Randers like it or not, includes the poor, elderly, ill, and weak among us. Even our Voting Rights are involved since office holders determine how We The People are treated or mistreated, how funds are allocated for the care of our people in need - and to 'promote the general welfare'. And yet as we see since 1776, the nation was set up from the start with the plutocrats in charge.

Trump says US Presidential Authority is "Total"!

Perhaps it was only intended to be a distraction from criticism, but on Monday April 13, 2020 at 6:58 pm edt, Donald Trump asserted that, "The authority of the President of the United States is total." My suspicion is that this is a flag he ran up the American flagpole to see who would salute. But naturally, people in their right minds know that Trump's attempt to project power and persuasion with a statement drenched by his desire for monarchical rule of America is totally false. Monarchy is, of course, exactly what our ancestors sacrificed, fought, and died for in order to reject such a form of government in this, the 'New World'. This compels me once again to my conjecture that Trump has no Revolutionary War ancestors. And it shows. Well, perhaps he can claim one of the defeated Hessians!

And so as you might expect, my streak of Saturnian Astrology just had to peek at a horoscope set for the time and date in Washington DC.

In the horoscope we find US natal Saturn exalted in Libra and rising on the Ascendant along with Trump's natal 2nd hou$e Neptune-Chiron-Jupiter trio of planets. Since our Trump nightmare began, I've been wondering when his grand dreams-speculating-inflationary-hypocritical-scandal-prone pair of Jupiter-Neptune would make itself even more prominent in our lives.

Consider the following in light of his offensive assertion of absolute power (which corrupts absolutely):

Jupiter-Neptune = ASC: 'living in a world lighted by personal imagination and an emotionally rationalized agenda; speculation'. With US natal Saturn: 'lack of confidence; experiencing the consequences issuing from false hopes; plans which come to nothing; disappointment; losses'.

Plus, with expansive Jupiter and powerful Pluto aligned (with two more exact conjunctions to go for this duo of Plutocracy) we might wish to consider their potentials as apex planets within a midpoint picture that formed on April 13:

Moon-Mars = Jupiter: 'temporary expansion of aggression toward the common people; fanaticism; one-sidedness'. With Pluto: intensified defiance during periods of uncertainty; powerful opinionation and a demanding nature.' (Tyl; Ebertin; Munkasey).

Meanwhile, transit Jupiter and Pluto in late Capricorn - a pair implying such things as: 'criminal elements; extreme depletion of resources; destruction of legal documents' - are now taking their bow atop Inauguration 2017's Midheaven ('MC'), the Goal Point. So let's look at one more midpoint picture that will retain a measure of ongoing influence:

Jupiter-Pluto = MC: ambition; hardworking attainment of a power position.

Now the last lunation prior to his statement, its Syzygy Moon, was the Full Moon of April 7,2020, the second 'Super moon' of 2020 (three more to go). The revealing rays of this particular Moon @18lib46 spotlighted Trump's natal Jupiter (17lib27) which was Stationary at his birth and began moving in direct motion a mere 3 hours 11 minutes after he hatched. And as you know, astrological Jupiter, planet of abundance and increase--and often sporting a massive Zeus complex--can act as a definite boundary-and-law breaker who rushes in with little if any concern for the consequences of his ill-considered disregard for law, necessary limits, and common sense.

"Battle in Seattle" vs the WTO November 30, 1999

November 29, 2019: In remembrance of tomorrow's 20th Anniversary of the "Battle in Seattle" protest against the World Trade Organization, the following is a re-publish of a SO'W post I wrote a few years ago, sans edits but for a typo or two and a few minor updates for clarification:

The "Battle in Seattle," as the protests were dubbed by the media:

World Trade Organization (WTO), ministerial meeting, Seattle, Washington, USA, the universe; Nov 30, 1999; Pluto-Chiron midpoint = Sun 7Sag59/ASC = sunrise 7:40:54 am pst; Mc 2Lib08; Moon @16Vir13 in 9th house (criticism by The People); in 8th house is North Node @5Leo38 (so USA was in process of a Nodal Return when associations are formed; US has a Nodal Half-Return coming up in April 2009. Wish The Dragon would gobble itself all up and leave innocent people alone.)

A Great Conjunction occurred one month later on Dec 30, 1999:

Heralding the New Millennium were several cosmic happenings including a Pluto and Chiron Conjunction, with the pair's blended energies signifying plutocracy, oppression, primal violence, corporatism, colonialism, racism, fascism, totalitarianism, communism, Marxism, commercialism, statism, and other -isms that most folks would prefer to stay away from. Their conjunction perfected at 12 Sagittarius, the natal Ascendant in our nation's 5:09/10 pm LMT chart of July 4, 1776). In other words, American Plutocracy. (Note that in 2019 the 1999 conjunction of the Plutocracy pair remains in force.)

And naturally, we were and are reminded of Stalin's equation: corporatism + statism = fascism. Yeah. The world is having occasion to recognize the devouring monster once again.

Plus, the 4 to 9 degree area of the Gem-Sag polarity is no picnic for they are 'nuclear degrees' with '5Sag' being a degree of flight (Devore). President Bill Clinton flew in to the city (in the middle of the night of Nov 30 - Dec 1) after being assured that his precious caboose would be kept safe from all harm.

During the Nov - Dec 1999 protests in Seattle, the midpoint of Saturn-Pluto (hardship; cruelty; loss; violence) was sitting astride US natal Moon (the people; the public; publicity) so:

Saturn-Pluto = Moon: cold feelings; abstemiousness; giving up giving; renunciation; melancholy; the tragic destiny of a woman (Tyl; Ebertin). Add, strong control over people's habits (Munkasey). That day, Sun and Pluto were also conjunct suggesting a craving for rulership, striving for power, and the power of attainment (Ebertin).

And for harsh Saturn-Pluto I would add: control (Saturn) by police state (Pluto) crushes the people (protesters and others caught up in the crowds) and the exploitation of Third World people and countries which continues today as resource plunderers and vultures with the aid of their handmaiden politicians take their profits and ignore the needs of their people.

Now perhaps you know that Stuart Townsend wrote and directed the film, 'Battle in Seattle' and though I'm no movie critic, I believe the film is worth watching especially if you're like me and want to know more of Seattle and the worldwide protests (as something like 30 cities around the globe protested in solidarity!) while 600+ of our guys and gals sat in jail nursing their police-state injuries. From 2008, here's a very interesting interview with Stuart Townsend concerning the event and his film documenting it.

Well, it would be no surprise to me to find out one day that the group that smashed windows and turned the protests violent (thus giving Seattle's major an excuse for ordering police tactics such as tear gas, head-bashing, and arrests) were plants to make sure things did go violent - as a way of diffusing criticism against the WTO policies, and to push through their plans for a fancy conference about which one of the characters in the film said, "The conference is doomed to success."

Did a real person say that? I don't know, but it did remind me of the keywords for asteroid Atlantis: abuse of power; a sense of doom. And note that on November 30, 1999, transiting Atlantis was Rx @26Can13--opposing US natal Pluto Rx (27Cap32) and hanging around with our natal Mercury Rx @25Cancer--Mercury the trader and negotiator, powerful Pluto the spy and hidden hand, so basically Atlantis activated America's bossy, surveillance-prone Mercury-Pluto opposition across the security axis of Cancer-Capricorn.

Seems to me there was a sense of doom (for the disenfranchised, and for the 'new world order' which we watch forming now with the current economic 'meltdown'...it was always in their 'cards' at our expense, never theirs); and abuses of power ran rampant in 1999 over anyone who stood in the way both inside the Paramount Theater and out on the streets for Internet connections created a group of protesters numbering the tens of thousands--and got them coordinated into the streets of Seattle.

So it's about time I re-watched the film and returned to studying Nov 30 - Dec 4, 1999's charts for those five days that rocked the world, and I hope nothing's been said here that would dissuade you from viewing this socially important film if you're yet to do so.

Dec 28 2017 Doug Jones Certified to Take Senate Seat

Although loser Roy Moore filed a lawsuit yesterday to block the certification of Doug Jones for the Alabama seat in the US Senate, the certification of Doug Jones is scheduled for today at 1:00 pm CST in Montgomery, the capital city.

Update Dec 29, 2017: MSNBC reports that Doug Moore was certified yesterday at 2:10 pm Eastern Time. At 1:10 pm CST in Alabama, the horoscope remains basically the same with Taurus Moon and Jones's natal Mercury rising.

A quick peek at a December 28, 2017 1:00 pm cst Montgomery, Alabama horoscope of the certification reveals the natal Mercury in Taurus of Mr. Jones rising just after the transiting Moon in Taurus @7Tau21. The natal Sun of Doug Jones @13Taurus rises soon after.

At MC, the Goal and Career Point of the certification chart (24Cap14), in 10th house is the natal Chiron Station Retrograde of Doug Jones and at 28Cap39, his Chiron conjoins US natal Pluto. As you know, the Pluto-Chiron pair is a marker for Plutocracy and the oppression and primal violence it tends to use in order to get its way. With Senator Jones it remains to be seen if or how he will favor plutocratic actions for he is joining Plutocracy's politicians on Capitol Hill. Plus, Jones's natal North Node @16Cap42, has recently been conjoined by transit Pluto today @18Cap40. With Chiron in 10th today at certification and his natal NN in Capricorn, Mr. Jones may be feeling somewhat insecure as to his position--even after his certification.

This degree of governmental, legal Capricorn (18Cap) activates the 1993 Great Conjunctions of Uranus and Neptune with the trio's 'the big picture must be followed, very little option to do otherwise' (Tyl) demands which Senator Jones will surely deal with in the US Congress and be forced to vote as party leadership dictates. The natal Pluto @22Leo32 of Doug Jones is extra strong for it's Station Direct in his natal chart. Of course, his Pluto on one level relates to his legal profession and the criminality it necessarily involves.

And with US natal Pluto at the top of the certification chart, US natal Mercury is placed at the IC (24Can14) with 1776 Mercury's very interesting Sabian Symbol, "A Man Wrapped in an Invisible Cloak of Power," a cosmic shout-out to manipulating Pluto, planet of power, wealth, and the cape of invisibility that plutocrats in charge prefer to conceal themselves behind. And it seems that they want Doug Jones seated in the US Senate which does, of course, lessen the Republican majority there. Maybe one day we'll find out other reasons why Jones is their choice though it may be due in part to the cantankerousness and 'independent' thinking of the very controversial Alabaman, Roy Moore.
