The vicious Assassination of Julius Caesar presents a harrowing and historic tale of betrayal and primal violence which played out in Rome's Theatre of Pompey on March 15, 0044 BC. Below is displayed a Horoscope set for that date at the speculative hour of 'noon'; you'll note that then-invisible Pluto, planet of death, assassination, and sabotage is prominent by being Station Direct at a critical 29th degree of mutable, Mercurial Gemini, not known as the most loyal of signs.

Also of interest is unaspected Neptune, planet of secrecy and confusion, for it is apex of the midpoint of the revolutionary pair of violence Uranus-Pluto ('collapse of the old order-construction of the new' - R. Ebertin) so that uncertainty, insecurity, nervousness, and even neuroses are suggested; and if you doubt that stationing Pluto is involved with this ancient crime, check him out as apex of a double T-Square listed on the chart, upper right:

For the curious, the birth data for Julius Caesar: July 12, -100 Rome; notably, his Uranus Rx @27Cap29 is the unpredictable planet of shock, attack, and chaos. Plus, there's a midpoint picture operative throughout the day of his birth, Mars-Saturn ('death axis') = Neptune (loss): "waning powers; undermined vitality; mysterious death" - R.E.

Now as you know, this historic murder is the event that spawned the infamous "Ides of March" warning that the world has been cautioned to 'be beware of' through the centuries. And obviously, any dream Caesar may have entertained of becoming a permanent dictator ended on that day via his 23 stab wounds even though he was appointed early in 44 BC as "dictator in perpetuity'. Was this the crux of the matter?

Then significantly, the first known post-mortem (autopsy) determined that he died from blood loss due to his wounds, and this, after wife Capurnia's dream that morning of his death caused her to beg him to skip the Senate meeting that day. Initially, Caesar delayed but at some point was persuaded to attend, and thus the assassination was perpetrated. Note that the Wikipedia link, above, provides a list of the conspirators, murderers who fled the city after their heinous deed was accomplished.

Meanwhile, the populace of Rome was not amused nor favorably impressed by the assassination of their Emperor Julius Caesar - some citizens were angry, and the 'rallying around' the murderers failed to materialize.

So looking back from our distant perspective, it's understandable that the death of Julius Caesar marked a major turning point in the history of Rome, and not necessarily in the ways that his assassins had expected.

But isn't that the way with erratic reformer Uranus? That unintended consequences always result from chaotic Uranian actions with outcomes that are impossible to control.

Why Congress Can't Cut Defense Spending: Feat. Rep. Mark Pocan - clip

And here's a nostalgic view of the Pentagon's founding horoscope (April 29, 1942) with its war-waging, out-of-bounds Mars in Moon-ruled Cancer (touchy!) at apex of two difficult midpoints: ruthless Saturn-Pluto and fanatical Uranus-Pluto, creating both brutal and intense conditions.

Additionally, snugged around this particular view of the Pentagon 1942 chart is the DC Horoscope of the 12 North Solar Eclipse of January 15, 2010 (@25Cap01, in the highly sensitized area of governmental/legal Capricorn which includes US Pluto Return, a three-fer due to planetary retrogradation).

As for America's years of out-of-this-world amounts of defense spending, we might consider Capricorn eclipses for their negative implications of ruler Saturn: avarice and selfishness which impede karmic progress and identify the imperative to adhere to conservative Saturn's demands for self-control, conscientiousness, sober thinking, and self-discipline when it comes to financial investments (rather than clearing out the National Treasury - and all the while promoting austerity for the masses).

From a previous post, let's close with a quote clipped from President Eisenhower's famous 'Chance for Peace' speech of 1953, an era when the Republican Party wasn't sadistic, brutal, deceptive, and crass as it is now:

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

A Republican Revolution and Violence 2022

When the 104th Congress opened on January 3, 1995, Republican Newt Gingrich took the gavel as Speaker of the House in what can be called the Republican Revolution of 1994. With a major sense of frustration, 40 years of Democratic supremacy had to be vanquished by Republicans chaffing at the bit to be the Big Boss of Washington, just as they chafe now.

An excellent overview of events that led up to the Republican take-over and their "Contract On America" (as President Clinton had called it - so do I), plus, more Neptunian intrigue, are now available via Steve Kornacki's 6-episode podcast, The Revolution (MSNBC). How did the bitterness in Washington begin? With power-craving Republican operative Newt Gingrich using his Pied Piper ability which is shared by Donald Tr*mp via their Sun Gemini-Moon Sagittarius personality blends.

So for readers who speak any amount of astrologese, it may be revealing to compare the party's 1854 horoscope (Sun = Aries Point; the revolutionary duo, Uranus-Pluto conjunct in Taurus) with a chart of Election Night 1994 (November 8; "8:00 pm" with Moon @1AQ15 conjunct bold Altair, the eagle), what I'm labeling the 'Republican Revolution 1994' horoscope for the purposes of this comparison.

2022 Uranus in Tauru$ to NYSE 1869 Pluto

Taurus the Bull of Wall Street Hosts Disruptive Uranus: Speculation; Unusual Sources of Money; Risking It All

Whenever Uranus and Pluto are in contact, it's a volatile combination of energies. Since June 2022, transit Uranus in Taurus has reached the New York Stock Exchange's Pluto in its reorganization horoscope. The timing of the NYSE 1869 horoscope I tend to use is based on the New Moon that perfected on that day - May 11, 1869 NYC at 11:11:27 am LMT NYC.

The NYSE 1869 Horoscope is shown below, surrounded by a transit chart for the moment on November 16, 2022 that Uranus meets 1869 Pluto @16Tau36 (the degree of the 2022 Midterms Lunar Eclipse conjunct extremist Uranus). Is the link apparent? Flush corporatists and mega-monied Wall Street gentry funding US elections and candidates so that the results go their way? Am I over-explaining?

Now November 16th is the second of three such meetings with the first having occurred on June 6, 2022 and the final conjunction coming on March 28, 2023.

As you see, the 'reorganizational' New Moon of May 11, 1869 @20Tau57 awaits the catalyst of transit Uranus as well (rebellion; shared conflicts; upsets) and obviously technology is in the picture, along with new methods and a potential for disruption. Additionally, in 1869 Mars @25Leo31 squares the New Moon (New Moons can behave like Solar Eclipses - and there was an Eclipse @20Taurus in May 2013, a 15 South: 'sense of collective loss or grief' - B. Brady). Plus, warrior Mars hopes to add a measure of fanaticism to the picture on or about September 14 and 15, 2022 - today and tomorrow.

And so I'm posting a few notes concerning the Uranus-to-Pluto transit, their sextile, and a mention of 1869 Saturn (in 4th house of Real Estate - housing crash coming? Some economists say so; or, a crisis involving Mining, metals, etc - for 1869 Saturn Rx is apex planet of a YOD pattern with the Uranus-Pluto sextile at its base, plus, Saturn is handle of a Bucket shape in 1869). As you know, YODs are karmic in nature and signal turning points or crossroads - and/or bring karmic opportunities, and with apex Saturn, karma is boosted to a higher, or deeper, level and what's been sown will be reaped.

Meanwhile, planet Saturn as Handle (which turns a Bowl shape of planets into a Bucket) reveals the Timekeeper planet as having a special capacity and interest in a particular direction (M. E. Jones). Here, and considering current anxieties over recession and/or a collapse of home prices, it appears that the above noted Real Estate and Mining matters (4th house) may be simmering on the economic hob in relation to the NYSE - or, are being put there by the NYSE, aka, the Wall Street Casino which has no care or concern for Main Street where the rest of us live:

Uranus sextile Pluto is quite a rare aspect between the two outer planets. When it formed in the 1940s it activated a war between democracies and dictatorships and light vs dark (aka, good vs evil) - exactly what we're again fighting, along with atomic bomb concerns ('nuclear' now), and goose-stepping Nazis (now it's "neo-Nazis" and "neo-Fascists"). Secret knowledge is also involved with this sextile, an aspect of opportunity, (ex: purloined classified documents), plus, it activates opposition to conformity, control of information issues, and resistence to the suppression of independent thought (A. Epstein) - ex: Republican book banning and burning.

As for the Uranus-to-Pluto transit itself, abrupt changes to social conditions are potentials and can cause serious psychological adjustments in society in relation to our familiar ways and traditions. And if the 4th house Saturn in the 1869 chart counts for anything, domestic conditions may become more difficult once Wall Street harvests our treasures once again and uses the money for its own selfish purposes which for some will include their continued financial support for sedition and sabotage so that America loses democracy and falls beneath a paternalistic authoritarian boot.

So, my friends, whatever you do: Vote Blue in 2022 - and in 2024. Don't let the 'economic royalists' win!

NYSE transits: Is the US Economy in or approaching Recession?

A Planetary Spotcheck on the NYSE: 2022 into 2023

Whether we look at the horoscope for the NYSE Buttonwood Handshake Agreement of May 17, 1792 NYC that first formed the 'Wall Street Casino', or the reorganization chart of May 11, 1869 (for timing I use the New Moon of that day @20Tau57 at 11:11:27 am LMT NYC), we find several difficult planetary transits of stress and strain in process as the bond yield market inverts which forecasts recession for the US economy, or, alerts us to the fact that the US economy is already in recession. Can Astrology, via a novice astrologer, show such a problem of market instability?

Perhaps, because certain planetary contacts to the 1792 and 1869 charts, shown above, indicate that in general, upheaval is in our financial cards. But since my theory is that no reader makes it to the end of a very long post, I'll simply mention a major transit affecting each horoscope - and both contacts occur three times due to retrogradation which stretches out the effects and conditions:

NYSE May 17, 1792 7:52 am LMT NYC shows wealth-hoarding Pluto @23AQ31, direct and in the corporate Big Business 8th house. However, 1792 Pluto squares 11th house Sun and Mercury Rx in money sign Taurus, therefore, transit Saturn squares them, too, which adds to the difficulties. Yet financier planet Jupiter of 1792 (22Lib57, 4th house) trines 1792 Pluto (big wheeler-dealers), so transit Saturn beneficially trines 1792 Jupiter so that a measure of mitigation of difficulties is provided during the earth-shaking, old order vs new order influences of Saturn conjunct 1792 Pluto exact on: 1. April 19, 2022; 2. July 22, 2022; 3. January 11, 2023. Power and control issues are also part of the Saturn-Pluto picture.

NYSE Reorganization May 11, 1869 NYC New Moon @20Tau57 in 10th house along with money planets Pluto (16Tau36) and Venus (21Tau33); there's a crisis/turning point YOD pattern between Uranus (14Can26 11th house) sextile Pluto at its base representing the reordering or reorganization of Wall Street itself due to crisis conditions, with apex Saturn Rx @15Sag33 in 4th house, planet of karma and of senior, well-established participants. Rounding up old man's Saturn's degree we get a Sabian Symbol significant to our current topic: "Sea Gulls Watching a Ship". And if we read the trio as a midpoint picture we find potentials for egoism, self-will, and exposure to great pressure (R. Ebertin). Great pressure sounds to me like a current condition as well.

Suggesting upheaval, changes, and a very bumpy ride, transit Uranus conjuncts 1869 Pluto three times, exact on: 1. June 6, 2022; 2. November 16, 2022; 3. March 28, 2023. You'll note the November 16th date so near the November 8, 2022 Election Day with Uranus conjunct 1869 Pluto. Perhaps we can agree that violent disruptions interfering with Midterms 2022 voting bodes ill for society on many levels which includes economic issues.

Yet we know that the inverted bond yield indicator isn't written in stone as a recession signpost since its negative effects could be avoided with careful navigation, yet the wealthy elite are apparently lacking confidence in America 'going forward' which may prove even more important since their failure to invest in the US economy can trigger a recession. Why, some of the wealthy villains even supported Trump's violent J6 coup attempt against the US Congress but you can bet that many of them made the bulk of their fortunes off the American people - in our democratic society.

Meanwhile, we should begin to understand more about these issues once banking planet Jupiter Stations and turns Rx on July 28, 2022 @8Ari43. Jupiter will remain inwardly turned (inverted?) until the third week of November 2022 after the 2022 Midterm Elections and the day's Taurus Lunar Eclipse conjunct disruptive Uranus, planet of radical politics and zealots which creates a major problem of instability for financial markets and for Main Street shoppers who stay home out of fear, and who may stay home from the November polls, choosing to Vote By Mail.

So as you see, these major transits to the NYSE charts are already in progress since April and June 2022 which possibly denotes that a recession is already in progress (although other more beneficial transits into 2023 may bring economic relief). But however Wall Street decides to react to these cosmic influences, we may as well expect difficulties through the bond yield market on into 2023 with little if any benefits from retrograde Jupiter's funds or from the Great Benefic's protective function.

Actually, my suspicion is that there are potentials in store for aid delayed and/or blocked efforts to show up on our societal menu, most likely engineered and promoted by sorehead politicians of a regressive persuasion working hard to sabotage our country on behalf of their foreign and domestic handlers and financiers. My feeling is that voting for malevolent saboteurs in the 2022 Midterms will go ahead and sink that Ship (of State), the one the seagulls are watching very intently for signs of faltering.

Therefore, realistically speaking - and as previously noted - these major 2022-2023 transits for a US economy led by Wall Street gentry may be cosmic announcements of a very bumpy ride.

But hey! How about fighting back the toffs? For there's one event full of hope (one of Jupiter's favorite functions!) which was held on June 18, 2022 under the restless influences of the first Uranus-to-Pluto transit to the 1869 chart. As you know, the Uranus-Pluto pair is always active when social protests rise up under great pressure, as we saw with Reverend William Barber's Mass Poor People's and Low-Wage Workers' Assembly and Moral March on Washington and to the Polls.

Summer Solstice 2022: A Turn of Destiny

Here's a quick posting of the Summer Solstice 2022 Horoscope located for Washington DC. As you see, US 1776 Mars in Gemini rises (conflicts), transit Mars @20Aries conjuncts US 1776 Chiron ('21Aries': "A Pugilist Enters the Ring"; sacred warrior energy), and it's an Hour of Jupiter (highlighted in green). The chart is entitled, 'Sudden Developments, Power, Resolutions, and A Turn of Destiny'. In process of America's Pluto Return, transit Pluto Rx @28Cap00 is in the Corporate 8th house of Big Bu$iness from where Mr. Wealth and Stealth leads a BOWL shape of planets suggesting a focus on ambition and work issues. So to me it looks as if financial, investment, currency, and employment concerns are atop our summer calendar, in tandem with the ongoing pandemic affecting everything, of course.

Chart-ruler Mercury (highlighted in blue, 12th house, and nearing MIDAS (money issues and concerns), makes no applying aspects in the chart which emphasizes its sign and house positions and Mercury's links to Communications, Travel, Trade and Commerce, Education, and Young People. However, Mercury will soon conjunct US 1776 Uranus (8Gem55). See lower left for a few notes on this transit.

Then in the center of the chart are penned a few potentials regarding the 1st house Sun (00Can00:00; leadership) inconjunct powerful, subversive Pluto, potentials which include power and control issues, obsessive behavior, and/or practiced excuses.

Meanwhile, surreptitious, gaslighting planet Neptune @25Pis25 (10th house) veils Nemesis (hidden foes) and disguises the powerful Pluto-North Node midpoint; this denotes 'success via lies and fraud', along with 'losses' and/or 'disadvantages' (R. Ebertin). Certainly, money is prominent in the horoscope, if I've not made that clear before. And the fact that restrictive Saturn Rx @25AQ02 conjuncts Midheaven ('MC' = the goal) is not exactly comforting for it can indicate ambitious plans without a sound foundation, but can also denote reliable partners in joint ventures, possibly from abroad (9th house). Meanwhile, those who have abused their positions of responsibility won't fare very well with Saturn conjunct MC, and costly lawsuits are suggested.

Now also posited in the visible 10th house is a concern of mine because two difficult midpoints conjunct one another @22-23 Pisces: Mars-Saturn (the death axis - R. Ebertin) and Uranus-Pluto, the planetary duo with potentials for 'old order vs new order', transformation, collapse, revolt, resistance, protests, and workers' strikes (supported by Mercury's Sabian Symbolm, possibly a cosmic picture of unionization struggles). Then if we think of the three Uranus-Pluto conjunctions in the mid-1960s in mid-Virgo, we must unfortunately expect that civil unrest along with the bodily harm of Mars-Saturn energies may be in the offing this summer. After all, no empire lasts forever.

Uranus-Pluto: Can Biden's American Rescue Plan end the Reagan Revolution?

Uranus-Pluto: A Pair of Revolutionary Planets and Their Midpoint then and now

Tuesday July 27, 2021: Since the first hearing of the House Select Committee on 1/6 has ended at 1:00 pm edt with intense Mercury-Pluto conjunct Ascendant @26Lib59, and chart-ruler Venus in fact-based Virgo making no applying aspects but squares the Nodal Axis: inappropriate social reactions (by some such as secessionist Republican Taylor Greene - and detailed today by four testifying police officers), I'm adding a link to some of Thom Hartmann's commentary concerning the Biden administration's economic efforts on behalf of our country and people about which, Thom asks, Does the American Rescue Plan Signal the End of the Reagan Revolution?

As he has before, Thom cites Peter Turchin's piece in Nature (published 10 years ago) in which he notes that we would see "massive political upheaval in 2020 because politics tends to go in cycles of around between 40 and 60 years, most often 50 years." And since cycles are the stock in trade for all astrologers, it's only natural that our curiosity should perk up concerning Turchin's prediction, yes? As Above, So Below. Or as some of us think of the concept, "Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven."

Mr. Turchin had then predicted that "we'd see people in the streets" (last year, 2020) "like we hadn't seen since the late 1960s -" and most astrologers easily recognize the riotous influences of the Great Conjunctions of zealous anarchist Uranus, the Utopian rebel, and powerful planet of transformation and death, Pluto, the hidden hand, in the mid-1960s, in mid-Virgo, across the victim-savior axis.

And as I've noted here and elsewhere months ago, the transiting Uranus-Pluto midpoint in mid-Pisces had for some time been precisely opposing the degrees of the Uranus-Pluto Conjunction of the 1960s, a cosmic circumstance I tend to ascribe to a triggering of such rebellious energies of upheaval and social protest against the lack or loss of rights, and, via the Black Lives Matter movement - in 2020 demanding that 'slave patrol' style police officers stop killing people of color which, of course, was triggered primarily by the cruel execution of George Floyd. Add the current transit of Neptune in Pisces opposing US natal Neptune in Virgo and we have racial, social, and religious persecution, in addition to the violent reactions and rebellion against authority made timely by the Saturn-Uranus square in rigid, stubborn Fixed signs as old and new ideas and methods clash.

Then notably today at 1:00 pm edt, we find that the transiting midpoint of Uranus-Pluto has moved on to 19Pis59 - conjunct the 1:00 pm Moon suggesting potentials for 'daring; ambition; determination; intuition; restlessness; bringing about changes by force' (R. Ebertin). Perhaps Luna is Rep. Liz Cheney! Of course, you know that transiting Neptune Rx @22Pis58 is nearby as well and with transit Uranus-Pluto within orb, society's current conditions of 'insecurity, uncertainty', and, for some mentally or emotionaly unbalanced folk, 'neuroses' are unfortunately activated (R. Ebertin).

Bad Policies and Financial Scams Always Make Social Conditions Worse

Then for economic considerations such as financial transformation in the US sometimes called the Reagan Revolution, Thom adds the fact that, "-- 50 years ago, in 1971, the modern conservative era was kicked off with the Powell Memo "(see link, below), "which started building a massive conservative infrastructure and led to the election of Reagan. Like old Confederate statues," Thom continues, "the shine on St. Ronny seems to have turned rather green." Thus the speculation that the 'Reagan Revolution' may finally be ending with Biden initiatives - and taking 40 years of social and economic harm, including the discredited "trickle down" scam against the American people, with it.

If so, it's a case of good riddance and huzzah.

Perhaps the title of the post and my commentary within seemed overblown or hyperbolic to some SO'W readers in 2020 but after the Trump Mob Coup Attempt of January 6th, this may no longer be the case especially for those who recognize the benefits of facing reality no matter how harsh so that our side's Uranus-Pluto energies and other resources can be harnessed to fight back against radical reactionaries of the fascist/neo-nazi persuasion.

The Capitol police officers fought such forces on 1/6, as they testified today to defending Democracy against the violent mob sent there, as one officer, Mr. Dunn, stated, sent by "a hitman."

So if you, dear reader, have any qualms about the true identity of said "hitman," I must wonder why in the world you would be wasting your precious time reading Stars Over Washington!

Astro-Notes on the Dixiecrats of 1948 and their spawn

Back in the day, a gaggle of anti-Civil-Rights Southerners, known as the Dixiecrats, met in Birmingham, Alabama and on July 17, 1948 nominated South Carolina Gov. Strom Thurmond for president and Mississippi Gov. Fielding L. Wright for vice president. The Truman and Democratic Party programs supporting Civil Rights for the disenfrachised victims of our country had enraged them, apparently enough to secede from the Democratic Party and proceed to row their own political canoe of States' Rights, racial segregation, white supremacy, Southern Nationalism, and other regressive attitudes and policies ('Jim Crow' laws once again being one of them even though the far-right party officially dissolved in 1948 - but we still have the GOP; I suggest that Dixiecrat ghosts continue to haunt us now.)

Plus, President Truman's Executive Order 9981 ended discrimination in the US military, a major faux pas in the eyes of the racist Dixiecrats. (Side note: Strom Thurmond became a Republican in 1964, and in the November 2, 1948 General Election, he received only 39 Electoral Votes and 2.4% of the popular vote.)

Now these events of 1948 occurred soon after the harsh, cruel energies of the Saturn-Pluto Conjunction of August 11, 1947 @13Leo07 and the two karmic planets remained in royal Leo by the time of Governor Thurmond's nomination on July 17, 1948, but with an orb of 8+ degrees. And of course, Sun-ruled Leo is the proud, vain sign of the natural leader while a self-satisfied Moon-Jupiter conjunction perfected that very evening in the 20-22 degree-range of Sagittarius (conjunct you-know-who's tiresome, needy Moon-SN conjunction).

Additionally, the formation of the Dixiecrat Party and Thurmond's nomination fell under the cosmic influences of a 4 North Solar Eclipse with its themes of: 'restraint, restriction, inhibition, separation, illusion, and a 'misjudgment of strength or the situation' (Brady). If 4 North themes sound familiar it's because we recently struggled through them again, thanks to the Summer Solstice 2020 Eclipse @00Cancer.

Inconveniently, the natal horoscope of politician Strom Thurmond has no accurate birth time but check out the chart if you wish. Born December 5, 1902 in Edgefield, SC, you'll find an impressive line-up of planets in Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius (Mercury-Sun-Venus-Uranus) and with Jupiter @13Aquarius, he possibly was born with an expansive Moon-Jupiter conjunction, not an unusual pairing for a glad-handing politician whose Mama had always assured him that he could be anything he wanted to be, you see. And this vision-of-grandeur belief, if repeated often enough, can sometimes lead to a presidential run!

Yet also visible in Strom's chart is a dynamic T-Square in effect no matter his birth time: Uranus-Pluto = Mars (@23Vir10 - square US 1776 Mars and conjunct US Neptune) with potentials for: 'fanaticism and violence' (R. Ebertin) and/or an 'impulsive, demanding nature' (M. Munkasey). Then as you know, the Uranus-Pluto duo, his a rebellious opposition, suggests potentials for engaging in extremely violent destruction, anarchy, and revolution (A. Oken).

Well, that's enough fussing about my fellow Southerners and their undistinguished actions in US history. Why fuss? Because if you've read SO'W before this you may remember my assertion that the American people must directly face our monsters - 'Dixiecrats', Jim Crow laws, bigotry, violence, and otherwise - if we wish to have any hope whatsoever of vanquishing them and entertaining the better angels our nature.

January 16, 2021: When I began pointing out in 2020 that the transiting Uranus-Pluto midpoint in mid-Pisces was opposing and triggering the Great Conjunction/s of Uranus and Pluto in mid-Virgo (once in 1965, twice in 1966) from across the victim-savior axis, little could I know that the planetary pair's violent, subversive energies would express physically against the US Congress on January 6, 2021 by what I call the Trump Mob (aka, the MAGA Mob). Civil Rights and other social causes of the mid-1960s bubbled up again, had never gone away nor been properly dealt with, and we were seeing in 2020 such historical 'rhyming' via Black Lives Matter protests and other social demonstrations, plus, the violence, upheaval, and denials of guilt that came with them.

As you know, the transformative pair of Uranus-Pluto is a marker for revolution and for 'collapse of the old order, construction of the new' (Ebertin). Adding to societal difficulties is the current Saturn-Uranus square with its resistance to law and order and challenges to authority vibes. Stubborn blockages will continue through the year between karmic Saturn's status quo qualities vs the futurism and progressiveness of techie Uranus, a pair that also contains 'old order vs new order' implications - all set upon the background of the recent Jupiter-Saturn Conjunction in Aquarius with its 'new order' timing.

So below is a bi-wheel of the first of three Uranus-Pluto Conjunctions (17Vir09: October 9, 1965 4:11 pm edt Washington DC; ASC 18AQ53) in center and around the outside, a Horoscope of the Trump Mob Attack of January 6, 2021 (set for 1:00 pm est since that's when the congressional session met to certify the Electoral votes for Joe Biden; the assault soon began).

Now annoyingly, my nose today is too sniffy with allergies to add a bunch of notes and fusses with these charts so perhaps you'll do that for yourself, dear reader. Yet I must note that the 1965 Midheaven ('MC'), the Goal Point, will soon receive a Lunar Eclipse @5Sag25 on May 26, 2021 so perhaps in May, June, or later in the year a few inconvenient secrets concerning Uranus-Pluto activities and conditions (ex: more names of backers or enablers involved on January 6th?) will be revealed by the light of the Full Moon!

July 29, 2020: Yesterday on SO'W I typed aloud my dream that it could be Senator Kamala Harris who would question Trump's interference-running Attorney General Bill Barr during his testimony before Congress for Senator Harris is Barr's favorite interrogator, as you know. After all, it was Senator Harris' natal Pluto @15Virgo and Venus in Virgo (17:53) that peeked over the horizon on Capitol Hill as the congressional session opened at 9:30 am edt. Here's yesterday's DC Horoscope set for 9:30 am edt. Perhaps her powerful style of dealing with prevaricators was present in spirit!

However, with the testy proceedings occurring in the House not the Senate, lady Venus in the questioning sign of Gemini at apex of a YOD configuration and with a special task to perform at the appointed time turned out to be reflected by Rep. Pramila Jayapal which suited the situation just fine. Her characterization of Barr's actions concerning Black Lives Matter protesters (he's against them) vs Barr's coddling (my word) of armed right wing extremists who threatened to lynch a governor is based in reality unlike so much that spews out of fantasist Trump and his scofflaw regime which Barr was hired to protect like Trump's mentor Roy Cohn used to do back in the olden days.

Below are a few astro-notes concerning political potentials of the erratic, incendiary pair of dogmatism, Mars and Uranus which will conjunct in intolerant, greedy Taurus in January 2021 and thus will imprint upon Inauguration 2021 and on the entire year of 2021. America 2020: Twisting Between Eclipses

In June 2019 we took a look at the 3 South Solar Eclipse of December 26, 2019 (shown below) with its themes of 'traumatic transformation through news received or short journeys undertaken' and 'sudden endings of relationships or associations'. Few would disagree that changes since then have been traumatic and separative, and recently we're hearing more and more public figures speak of "transformation." Perhaps you've heard them say this, too.

DC Horoscope: 3 South Solar Eclipse December 26, 2019 @4Cap06:

Naturally, astrologers tend to think of astrological Pluto when it comes to concepts such as transformation by which nothing stays the same. These days we're having a more generous helping of intensity via a boost from the planet of shocks and sudden events: erratic, radical Uranus, now in money sign Taurus and stirring up chaotic conditions as he lurches along.

So considering the current protests, riots, unrest, disruption, violence, and general turmoil in society my suspicion is that the transiting midpoint of Uranus-Pluto in mid-Pisces, opposing the mid-degrees of Virgo where Uranus and Pluto conjoined three times in the mid-1960s, is responsible for some major 'stirring up' of such restless and revolutionary energies of civil unrest and revolt. You, dear reader, may disagree about their midpoint, but there it is.

Now with Pluto plodding through Capricorn, we see startling transformation within the Saturnian realms of government, law, business, and investment. Three conjunctions with Jupiter, planet of expansion and increase, all through 2020 ups the significance and depth of Plutonian changes as Plutocracy (Jupiter-Pluto) makes a stand against massive pushback from We The People.

Then, warming up Summer 2020 are two Lunar Eclipses. One has already occurred on June 5th @15Sag34, in first house of late afternoon US Horoscopes (July 4, 1776) that show Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius rising. But soon comes a second Lunar Eclipse, a sort of 'birthday eclipse' for America for it perfects on July 5th @13Cap37 - an 'eclipse' of America's natal Sun (13Can19). This involves two fixed stars of note: Sirius, the scorcher, and Canopus, the star of old age.

But the most scorching heat of Summer 2020 may arise (between the two Lunar Eclipses) from the Summer Solstice 2020 Solar Eclipse in the 4 North Saros Series (chart shown). By degree this eclipse echoes the transformative 3 North Solar Eclipse of Summer Solstice 2001 @00Cancer, one of the four critical Cardinal Points of Manifestation upon which eclipses (those 'wild cards of the Universe') tend to spur some measure of global events. Yet since 00Cancer is known as 'the gate of life' degree, can we expect improved conditions running in the background of society under the influence of the Cancer Solar Eclipse as opposed to the difficult 2019 Capricorn Solar Eclipse, both falling across the Cancer-Capricorn security axis? By theme, it's doubtful since 4 North themes include potentials for 'restraint, restriction, misjudgments, and illusions'.

That is, unless 4 North's 'restrictions, restraint, and misjudgments' should refer to, disrupt, and/or somehow transform the bad actors and rotten apples now disrupting the American barrel as they act under the illusion that our country should belong to authoritarian despots and criminals instead of to We The People!

Fascism Rising Eclipse of 1933 repeats in 2023

June 2, 2020: Considering the current unrest and turbulence in our nation with National Guard troops ordered or threatened to be ordered to various cities across the land - and with a vision of Trump hunkered down in a bunker - an updated post on the Fascism Rising Solar Eclipse Horoscope of 1933 may be of interest. Learning from history so as not to repeat mistakes is a grand thing if it can be accomplished! Unfortunately, given the speed with which America has been sabotaged by authoritarian entities and with martial law and dystopia potentially on the horizon, it seems at this point that the fascist types are the ones who have learned from their mistakes and improved their tactics.

Yes, it is depressing but as progressive author and broadcaster Thom Hartmann always says, Despair is not an option. Thom also says, Democracy is not a spectator sport, so get out there! and finally, Americans are doing just that, taking to the streets, but with the predicable result that paid operatives and anti-democratic thugs of the klannish persuasion are apparently among the crowds in order to stir up violence and destruction, discredit the protests, and give government a justification for clamping down (when we're already under lock down!). The use of subterfuge against We The People, a time-honored tactic of Uranian-Plutonian types, reveals the saboteurs' plan to institute military control of the population thereby completing their government coup and keeping demagogue Trump throttling the helm of the White House. And note that America's natal Sun in Cancer (July 4, 1776) will be 'eclipsed' by the Lunar Eclipse of July 5, 2020 which is basically the cosmic gift of an eclipse for our national birthday.

Hopefully, the implied changes of direction inspired by the three Summer 2020 eclipses, although turbulent, will turn America toward a more positive course and any secrets or inconvenient facts revealed will uplift democracy, not reduce it further. This, in addition to the fact that the critical Summer Solstice 2020 Eclipse @00Cancer contains potentials for the entire globe.

US Mars the Warrior in Our Turbulent Times

Astrologically, on one level we see these fiery conditions and perversions of goals and actions via US natal Mars turned retrograde by progression since 2006 (when Bush-Cheney 'broke' the military, as I've typed in previous posts of that era). Certainly the symbolic (SP) inward subversion (Rx) of America's Mars' energy, motivation, and action principles aren't what they once were when Mars progressed through the years in forward motion. The concepts of social and political regression (Rx) come to mind as favored by the Republican hierarchy (and others!) who seem determined to regress America back to the 1860s. Led by figurehead Trump, they're attempting now to re-fight the Civil War for they prefer that relic of a bygone era, the Confederate Constitution of 1861 (horoscope shown is timed by the day's New Moon @20Pis59--where transit Neptune is as I type, and there's venal Venus @5Pis18, the degree of the Fascism Rising Eclipse!).

For as you know, in 1776 our country began with Mars in Mercury-ruled Gemini: ready for action, mobile, able to do multiple things simultaneously, yet admittedly on the quarrelsome side, and not always honest in duplicitous Gemini. Now with SP Mars Rx in Venus-ruled Libra, America's motivations and actions depend upon emotions and feelings which often spark conflict rather than the teamwork that could benefit all sides. But radical Utopian zealots don't care about 'all sides', only theirs, and that, to collapse civilization. So perhaps you've noticed that US Mars SP (secondary progressed) conjoins the natal Jupiter of Herr Trump with his constant refrain of, "It's not fair!" However, his multiple personality flaws can only see 'fair' as everything tilting his way which does not provide the balance the American people prefer. And as you know, the hastiness, ambition, and erroneous judgment inherent within a Mars-Jupiter contact have been repeatedly demonstrated during Trump's 3+ years.

And yet the true heart of humanity is shown as peaceful solidarity marches in foreign lands have been inspired by the cruel murder-by-police of George Floyd in Minneapolis, MN on May 25, 2020. Thank You World!! For many people abroad can see America's predicament clearly for what it really is yet approximately one third of us cheers on its brutality! General Smedley Butler would not be proud. btw: so far a search of SO'W for my previous posts regarding the July 1, 1933 fascist coup attempt has shown that related videos and links I posted in the past have been mysteriously deleted. However, I have located a recently published video (8M 6s) on the topic Smedley Butler and the Business Plot which is what the coup attempt of 1933 is often called. Because predictably, corporatists and big bankers, driven by fear of FDR's New Deal programs, were the primary culprits (then as now), along with idealists with skewed, brutal perspectives against humanity. (Now that Venus, planet of of perspective, evaluation, diplomacy, and relationship, is back in bounds of the earthly plane, perhaps attitudes of some will improve, although Mercury remains OOBs for now and will turn Rx June 18th.) Still, I must type: it was evil then and it's evil now. After all, recognizing evil when it confronts us is key to facing monsters and vanquishing them!

So the 7 North Solar Eclipse of 1933 contains themes of 'deep passion long hidden' and 'lust' (Brady) - one assumes lust for power and control (see power-mad manipulator Pluto rising with starry Pollux!). And of course the same themes will surface in 2023 as the next 7 North Eclipse manifests @29Ari50, a critical-crisis 29th degree--straining to enter Taurus, sign of intolerance and greed (negatively speaking with no aspersion to be cast upon enlightened Taureans of our day!) So as you know, the 00-to-1 degree range of bullish Taurus is thought by some such as myself to be degrees of violence due to the fact that it's Adolf's natal Sun degree and was transited (triggered) each time he committed acts of violence. And being his Sun that was triggered, naturally his out-sized, off-kilter, touchy ego was involved.

Summer 2020: Uranus-Pluto and Crisis Across America

Monday June 1, 2020: Prior to the brutal murder-by-cop of George Floyd (May 25, 2020 8:30 pm cdt Minneapolis, MN; 3Sag05 rising with his natal Neptune 5:34, then Venus 6:03) which has triggered protests, riots, and violence across our nation, I had access to my original 'Jude Cowell' Facebook account and page on which I had asked a general astrology-related question which received several interesting replies from my astute FB friends.

This became a discussion concerning the Great Conjunctions of Uranus and Pluto which perfected thrice on October 9, 1965, April 4 1966, and June 30, 1966--all in mid-Virgo (17:10, 16:28, and 16:06 respectively), and all three conjunct my natal Virgo Ascendant--and the fact that the transiting midpoint between Uranus and Pluto was now @16Pisces and therefore opposing their intense, revolutionary conjunctions of the 1965/66 across the Virgo-Pisces victim-savior axis. What I'd hoped not to face was that their midpoint might trigger similar violence, turbulence, and upheaval as their conjunctions had done--riots, protests, battles lines drawn, broken store windows and heads, shootings, arrests, shady figures in black showing up to stir events into conflagration, purposeful arson, and even assassinations as in the 1960s. Perhaps I can be forgiven for counting George Floyd as one such victim.

While History May Not Repeat It Very Often Rhymes: Long-Held Grievances now Released

So you can tell where I'm going with this, right? My worst concerns are now confirmed y events for it turns out that, yes, the transiting Uranus-Pluto midpoint of 2020 can trigger the powerful Uranus-Pluto Conjunctions of the 1960s with similar violent results and demands for freedom from oppression. Of course the combined intensity of Uranus-Pluto built and simmered prior to 1965, was most intense during their exact conjunctions, and extended beyond them. This particular planetary pair is so intense, electrical, deep, and transforming that its destabilizing, disruptive, oppressive and persecuting 'vibes' stretched through the 1960s decade, as you know, and had noticeably and finally waned by 1970.

Of course, there were other planetary influences happening in the 1960s, different from those of 2020, but this is beyond the scope of this post. With one exception--that the Uranus-Pluto Conjunctions had one significant opponent uncomfortably traversing watery Pisces--old man Saturn, karmic planet of The Establishment and the status quo. This helped to set up a generational dynamic between young vs old, counterculture vs business-as-usual, as anti-Vietnam War protests, black rights and other civil rights movements against oppression, were engaged, often with rage. Add to this the fact that mid-Pisces holds a star of crisis, Achernar, and its themes have in 2020 been reactivated by the transiting Uranus-Pluto midpoint (along with transiting Neptune in its own shady sign of Pisces, bringing paranoia, contagion and pandemic in its wake). Can a powerful planetary midpoint activate a fixed star's themes? Reluctantly I must say, yes.

US Politics and Rebellious Uranus-Pluto

One prominent disrupted social event within those Uranus-Pluto years was the infamous 1968 DNC in Chicago where over 600 people were arrested, hundreds were injured, Democrat Hubert Humphrey was nominated, hired instigators and intruders showed up (then as now) to make matters worse, and a later investigation of the turbulent protests and violence led to the label "police riot." An ultimate result was that laws and government were changed--then as will be now. Here's a 1m 45s WGN News video with actual footage and details that pretty well sums up the DNC Events of August 1968. And of course, current riots and protests now drench the globe and the Internet for anyone with a hankering to view or review them. Turn on a device--any device--and there they are in your face and broadcast around the world to make certain that other countries know that haughty America is wounded and weeping. One political thought is that the Soviet Union fell, now it's America's turn. It's a large part of the reason Trump was installed--to make America's collapse happen and finagling a 'race riot' is a basic tactic for such Utopian saboteurs and swindlers. Uranus, planet of zealous radical anarchists, syncs with stealthy, power-mad Pluto, the distant manipulator with his hidden wealth and destructive plans for society--for civilization.

Solar Eclipses Then and Now

Now as you know, DNC and RNC 2020 are apparently scheduled for August 2020 after the Summer Solstice 2020 Eclipse @00Cancer, a Cardinal World Point of manifestation. Yet 2020 convention details are iffy due to coronavirus concerns wherever large crowds congregate. But there were no such concerns for contagion in the 1960s which enjoyed something of a musical exclamation point to the turbulent era when the very peaceful, peace-loving Woodstock Festival of 1969 (horoscope shown) was held in upstate New York - mud, Jimi Hendrix playing The Star-Spangled Banner, and all. Yet music, social movements, and social network memes are contagious, right? We even call things "viral" when they're shared round and round.

So if you're curious, here's a previous post concerning the Flower Power Eclipse of November 12, 1966 which displays the 'cosmic peace symbol' formed by the planets, as you can see. This 1966 eclipse fell into the difficult 4 South Saros Series which, sorry to tell you, repeats on December 14, 2020 @23Sagittarius, the very day the Electoral College is set to vote, last I heard, and with Trump's natal Sag Moon and South Node 'eclipsed'. For it can't be denied that in 2020 we are, in fact, influenced by the same Solar Eclipses and themes that ran in the background of the years 1965 and 1966, but with 2020 eclipses manifesting in different signs and with a different panoply of planetary actors in attendance at each 'cosmic blink' event - some harmoniously, some discordantly, and some a grand cosmic mixture of both. As Above, So Below!, an oft-quoted phrase in Astrology that for me personally represents the comforting Scriptural assurance that,

"--Thy Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven."

Because of the uncertainty of the birth data of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton I've never properly posted his natal horoscope or made much mention of him astrologically here on Stars Over Washington. However, there are multiple rectified versions of his natal chart for the curious if you wish to have a look at them or at his noon chart. His early childhood on the Island of Nevis has been subject to speculation through the years although more seems to be known these days. The version I tend to favor is a rectified chart (by Dr. "H") set for January 11, 1755 1:23:37 pm Charlestown, Nevis with ASC 19Tau53 and MC 9AQ20--and lots of Capricorn planets suitable for the man who championed America's national banking system, served as our first Secretary of the Treasury, and more.

The Age-Old Question: Who's Your Daddy?

In the natal chart I favor, Hamilton's natal Neptune @7Leo47 Rx, leader of a Locomotive shape of planets (toward success), conjoins his IC which describes Hamilton's mysterious beginnings or roots. Plus, rising is Taurus, a money sign (the Taurean 'Bull of bullish Wall Street') and an Aquarian Midheaven, the Aspiration and Career Point, brings in humanitarian or social work which resonates with his natal Uranus inconjunct Neptune aspect that identifies his generation as fighting social ills and becoming involved in political work. This aspect (150 degrees) between the two planets of The Enlightenment (and of the NWO, as their energies have since been directed) was also in effect from 1922 through 1928. And as you know, they last conjoined three times in 1993 @18Capricorn..."POLITICAL POWER...neg: smug or strong-armed paternalism" - Jones. Of course, paternalism is how America began by the Founding Fathers and what is now 'on steroids' under dictator-wannabe Trump.

Yet there are horoscopes relating to Alexander Hamilton which can be accurately timed without doubt. One is the chart of his Prenatal Solar Eclipse ('PE') which perfected @22Lib35 on October 15, 1754 in the 9 New North Saros Series. This is a difficult series containing potentials for physical violence, accidents, and great physical effort (Brady). (A 9 New North last perfected in 2007 and will again in 2025.) His 1754 PE horoscope contains a YOD pattern (crisis; turning point; crossroads; special task; spiritual opportunity) with Neptune sextile North Node (understanding of cultural trends but evading them) at its base pointing toward natal Uranus @7Pis49 Rx. As you know, astrological Uranus can be crisis-prone on its own so when rivals Hamilton and Burr met with pistols in 1804, transit Pluto Rx, god of Hades, had been in process of conjoining Hamilton's natal Uranus with Uranus-Pluto combinations always explosive and often daring and foolhardy.

Now the YOD in his natal PE chart may be read as a midpoint picture: Neptune-NN = Uranus: unrestrained self-will; upset over the anti-social conduct of others; a sudden undermining or destruction of relationships. Add transit Pluto to Uranus' place in the picture on July 11, 1804 7:00 am Weehawken, NJ and Hamilton encountered potentials for: exercising a bad influence upon associations between people and/or the breakdown of a relationship between people living together (Ebertin). Tragically, sudden death by duel or any other means can do that to a man and his family.

Bitter Rivals

As for the 1804 duel's PE, it manifested on February 11, 1804 @21AQ36 in the 4 North Saros Series with themes of: illusion, restraint, restriction, separation, events that block, and people who are prone to misjudge their strength or the situation. These themes sum up conditions and events around the Hamilton-Burr duel rather well, I think, especially since at 7:00 am LMT in Weehawken, vengeful Venus in proud Leo was rising and shooter Mars was at the critical-crisis 29th degree of Taurus.

A solar eclipse in the 4 North series last perfected in 2002 @20Gemini (conjunct US natal Mars and Trump's natal North Node) and will manifest next as the Summer Solstice Solar Eclipse of 2020.

America's 1776 Aries Ingress Horoscope

March 18, 2018: here is a view of the Aries Ingress (Spring Equinox) horoscope of March 19, 1776 (Sun to Aries Point) which shows a New Moon @1Aries ("A Woman Has Risen from the Ocean, a Seal Is Embracing Her"), and marks the beginning of a new cycle of activity and, as we know, heralds the founding of a new nation in 1776--order out of chaos. As you see, the midpoint of the revolutionary pair, Uranus and Pluto conjoins the Sun-Moon midpoint. Uranus-Pluto denotes the "collapse of the old order, construction of the new" and "revolution" (Ebertin).

The Sun Aries-Moon Aries combo? Mavericks and crusaders! Saturn exalted in Libra and rising? Difficulties at the beginning but ideals will be put into a proper form with laws for guidance.

Of course, 'a woman rising from the ocean' hints at a newly invented America and her founding motto, E pluribus unum, 'out of the many, one' and the 'seal' refers to America's Great Seal with its Illuminati symbols as accepted by the era's enlightened thinkers determined on the betterment of society (Sun sextile Uranus). These were our nation's Founding Fathers whose contrary ideals inspired them to become advocates for the common man (Sun sextile Pluto). To me the fact that Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto were not yet discovered in 1776 is of little if any consequence since a Neptune-Pluto trine was above their heads and denotes those who can respond to the invisible realms and forces whether they are aware of it or not!

So when looking at transits to America's natal horoscope (of which there are many versions set for various hours on July 4, 1776), this cosmically timed Aries Ingress 1776 chart is an alternative and may be a chart to keep in mind.

Big Picture in Focus: a New President, the 115th Congress, and Jupiter Leading the Throng

Nov 5, 2017: If like me you've been clinging to hope that Election Day 2016 will soon end without causing major mayhem to our nation, perhaps you've had a moment to notice that Wikipedia has the low down on the 115th Congress which extends from January 3, 2017 to January 3, 2019. Electoral votes from Presidential Election 2016 are scheduled to be counted in Joint Session on January 6, 2017 which will hopefully settle the matter. VP Joe Biden acts as Senate President at least until January 20, 2017 at 12:00 pm est when a new White House occupant takes the Oath of Office.

Now since we're about to end 2016 and enter 'Happy New Year!' 2017 with a spiffy new Congress, perhaps you remember the 114th Congress and its cosmically auspicious beginning when an ongoing transit of Pluto opposed America's natal Sun (the president and the leadership of the country), a time of challenges, power struggles, contests of wills, and no-compromise attitudes. All this while Pluto and the January 2015 Sun in Capricorn hooked up and created potentials for displays of aggression, domination, self-interest, and ego-based demands.

And even though it's doubtful that President Obama's Republican opponents needed the synchronicity of a double Sun-Pluto condition (power cravers all!) to continue their sabotage of his presidency (and America with it), that's definitely the theme under which they labored while We the People marveled at how brazenly in-breach of the public contract so many of them were.

And of course, 14 Cancer is the position of the brightest star in the sky, Sirius, the Dog Star, aka, The Scorcher. Maybe you agree that Pluto's presence in mid-Capricorn (sign of government, law, business, and authority) has deepened and intensified events of 2015 and 2016 (ex: the insulting Campaign of 2016) so perhaps we should see if anything stellar is occurring over Capitol Hill on January 6, 2017 which will imprint upon political and societal matters during the upcoming congressional sessions and the first two years of a new president's term in office.

January 6, 2017: Well, obviously the Sun is in Capricorn so Pluto's manipulative influence continues but not as intensely (at 9:00 am est, Sun 16Cap26 and Pluto 17Cap08--both in the 12th house of Politics and Karma--chart set for the Capitol Building). The 'new world order' (global government) pair of planets, Uranus and Neptune, are near by Sun and Pluto by degree and in spirit since their 1993 conjunction/s occurred on or about 18 Capricorn, the POLITICAL POWER degree of 'smug or strong-armed paternalism' (Jones) which sounds more Trumpian than Clintonian, doesn't it? Unless you think Hillary is a manly woman, that is! ("You're a puppet, no you're a puppet!" - Stephen Colbert on Hillary's and Donald's debate).

Additionally, the overstayed-its-welcome Uranus-Pluto square is involved in something of a Thor's Hammer pattern if you don't mind counting the North Node (public contact; future direction) so we may as well consider the midpoint picture the trio forms: Uranus-Pluto = NN: accomplishing immense tasks through teamwork; sharing upsets or excitement with others (Ebertin). Along with this there's Sun and Pluto at apex of a T-Square between the Jupiter-Uranus opposition (which can become despotic) so we have a powerful amount of far-sightedness and a strong awareness of objectives involved as 2017 gets underway. Jupiter and Uranus also make up the rim of a BOWL shape with Jupiter leading all the other planets--probably alternating his roles as politician, banker, fund-raiser, professor, The General, the priest, the CEO, the actor, the promoter, and other societal roles he likes to play when it suits.

As for We the People, we'll be more than a little riled up with Moon in Mars-ruled Aries separating from rebellious Uranus, 5S42) in the 2nd house of Earning Ability, Possessions, and the National Treasury. Radical reformer Uranus opposes the 8th (corporate) house where Jupiter leads the merry cosmic throng in the cause-advocating BOWL pattern.

Now as you suspect, there are more chart factors of interest but I'm only listing the ones that pop out at me on first glance. We see from this chart and the events it times, that America is not out of her destructive Sun-Pluto phase of forced conquest, and the world remains in the grip of illuminating Uranus-Neptune and Uranus-Pluto with wealth-hoarding saboteur Pluto at apex of 1993's prominent conjunction degree which imprints 2017 and beyond as the 'Big Picture' demands a certain course of action which must be followed, very little option to do otherwise era (Tyl). Add to that the fact that when the revolutionary energies of Uranus and Pluto clash, we have: collapse of the old order, construction of the new (Ebertin) which for me echoes the far-sightedness and strong awareness of objectives mentioned, above, of a long-range plan for order out of (purposefully created) chaos.

The 2017 Eclipses begin in February and we'll cover those background influences later on. Meanwhile, we remain under the rays of the September 1, 2016 Solar Eclipse until February 2017 but paradoxically there is transit Neptune (10 Pisces) opposing the eclipse's realism and tackling the truth themes via confusion, illusion, fraud, lies, and deception which muddles things up for some, while others see things more clearly than ever before as Neptune's mirror reflects the degree area of 9 to 10 Virgo. And of course, astrological Neptune also represents the masses, mass delusion, and mass media, the largest propaganda spreader of all.

So with the Electoral Vote Count and a new Congress approaching, we may wonder about the day's Sun Cap-Moon Aries blend of energies, an Earth-Fire combo of 'scorched earth' tendencies that mimic Sirius 'The Scorcher'. This relates to more wildfires, drought, and to more political tactics in Washington by politicians and their backers who'd rather burn the place down than lose a jot of their earthly power and prestige. Actually, Sun Cap-Moon Aries is known for its tendencies toward overvaluing career success, insensitivity to the needs of others, and for an emphasis on crass materialism. Sounds like most pocket-lining politicians to me!

Planetary Cycles and Eclipses of 1968

Obviously the year 1968 is imprinted by ripples from the mid-1960s Great Conjunction/s of Uranus and Pluto with tyrannical, explosive, and violent unrest flavors of a titanic generational clash, and the last few years the world has been under the influence of the Cardinal Uranus-Pluto square from that cycle in which issues and ills of the 1960s have been grievously stirred up (so they can be dealt with--but...politics).

Even Jupiter and Uranus entered the collective scene of 1968 via their one conjunction on December 12, 1968 @3Libra which conjoined America's natal Saturn-Neptune midpoint of oppressed classes and social ills and added narrow-mindedness, egoism, excitability, and upset to the secret (Neptune) government (Saturn) picture.

Plus, one of the planetary pairs of Plutocracy met on October 13, 1968 @23Virgo--corporate Jupiter and Pluto. This conjunction occurred on US natal Neptune (mass media; propaganda) which helped to veil the true intentions of Jupiter-Pluto plutocrats, adding potentials for deception, seduction, cheating the people, omitting key facts, lies by omission, and suffering harm or loss through others without being aware of it. (Ebertin; Tyl). Are we aware of it now?

Naturally the pair of plutocracy, oppression, primal violence, racism, tyranny, exploitation, misogyny, Capitalism, and other -isms was active in 1968: Pluto-Chiron, a natal midpoint that conjoins our natal Ceres (events and conditions that affect large masses of people; safety and security issues) in America's natal horoscope of 1776.

March 28, 1968 @8Aries an eclipse occurred in the 6 North Saros Series with themes of relationship to authority (father) figures; accepting commitments that present; the need to take responsibility and control.

Both 6N and 6S manifested most recently in 2004 and will do again in the prominent year of 2022 when America will experience her first-ever Pluto Return/s to natal degree of 27Cap33. And 2022 predictions are off the table at Stars Over Washington though a few may eventually peek out from under the table!

Brief Astro-Notes and "Fun Facts" about Rep Jason Chaffetz

On October 5, 2015 The Daily Beast published Five Fun Facts about Jason Chaffetz the Newest House Speaker Hopeful which is interesting because Jupiter, planet of hope and expansion, is one of the prime motivators in his natal chart. (See Astrology notes below and get-to-know him.)

Jason Chaffetz with interesting information concerning his former status in college as a Democrat, his connection to the Dukakis family (political and familial) , and the fact that Chaffetz converted to Republicanism after meeting Ronald Reagan in 1990. Born on March 26, 1967 in Los Gatos, California (birth hour unknown), Chaffetz turns out to have an Aries Sun and his Moon in Libra (ranging in degrees from 7:44 to 22:57 on that date.) Natal Sun conjoins Saturn (2Ari50) making for a conservative outlook and resonating with America's natal Sun-Saturn square. A preference for working in isolation, links to senior folk, delicate health, and difficult advancement in career are often Sun-Saturn tendencies as well. Sleeping on a cot in his office is a well known quirk of Mr. Chaffetz though he may have discontinued the practice of late and I know of no comments from his wife or three children on such a habit with its workaholic flavor. Or perhaps it stems from a deep sense of frugality! Or it could involve the dynamic between his Venus-Mars opposition which tends toward friendship that leads to romance and romance that turns platonic.

First Is Mars, Ruler of his Sun

Now planet of motivation, energy, and initiative, Mars, is strongly posited in one of its own signs, Scorpio, is retrograde (seems to get nothing done and then voila! the job is done) but there's more to Mars than meets the eye for Mars @1Sco07 Rx is completely unaspected. The closest body to Mars is no nobody but a point--the South Node of the Moon which, if we allow a 6-degree orb, adds hints of a loner who disregards the opinions of others, acts on his own, and prefers to be out of tune with the standards of his society. Naturally this causes opposition to his actions, methods, and ideas (and it has) which leads him to lash out in anger, a tendency supported elsewhere in the chart as you'll see, below.

And since Mars rules his Aries Sun, ego needs are are strong in Jason Chaffetz though it certainly isn't unusual for a politician to be self-centered and egotistical--in fact, it seems to be required.

So what happens in the psyche when astrological Mars is unaspected and detached from other natal planets? Glad you asked for I think we've seen some of the Martian results his ruthless grilling of Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards and other 'investigations' Chaffetz has chaired in his top role on the House Committee. The way he asks question then won't allow the person to answer seems excessively rude to me though perhaps you disagree.

When Mars forms no aspects to other natal planets the warrior operates in his pure form: unencumbered, unhampered, and uncompromising with a one-pointed focus that suggests a non-stop flow of energy. Without other planetary energies to modulate the activities and motivations of Mars and provide constructive limitations on Martian impulses, we find one who can erupt in anger due to pent-up aggression and whose unconscious urges may seem irrational. Lacking the control, reason, insight, perspective, and an awareness of consequences that other planetary contact with Mars can supply, Rep. Chaffetz may be totally unaware of how his aggressive instincts appear to others--but as noted above, his Mars-SN tendencies don't care what others think! (Tierney.)

Add these factors to his Mars sign of Big Business, brooding Scorpio, the investigator, and we have a man who may have missed his era for a time such as during the Spanish Inquisition would have been a good fit for his laser-like drive and determination.

And while we're in Scorpio mode, let's add his Pre-Natal Solar Eclipse Saros Series (PE), the 4 South, and the degree at which it manifested prior to his birth on November 12, 1966 @19Sco45 conjunct reptilian Serpentis! Traditionally this degree is considered problematic, even evil, so perhaps the implications of having a PE in Mars-Pluto driven Scorpio is even more important since much karmic progress may be made as long as the negative traits of Scorpio are conquered in favor of the more positive traits. This would include a strong emphasis on gaining self-control and less focus on the control of others.

4 South (4S) originated on March 19, 1624 @29Pis00 which by degree resonates with the 17 South Solar Eclipse of Spring Equinox 2015 @29Pis27. Therefore, both eclipses conjunct the Cardinal Aries Point of Fame, Recognition, and Prominence on the world stage (00Ari00) and herald the manifestation of large events that affect the masses (exs: increased refugee migration from the war torn Middle East into Europe; the flooding of South Carolina--Scorpio is a Water sign...picture disturbed gravestones floating around suitable for Scorpio's morbid tendencies.)

Themes of 4S, the PE of Jason Chaffetz are: strong emotional feelings regarding money and/or relationships; a sense of fatedness in being caught up in relationship events that are too big to handle; a sudden desire to end a relationship but emotions are blocked or checked in some way resulting in a great amount of frustration; anger or lust; caution: avoid taking rash action until issues simmer down (paraphrasing Brady's Predictive Astrology.)

4 South is shared by a variety of people and events that include: the US Mint (1786), e. e. cummings, J. Edgar Hoover, the 33-day Pope John Paul I, the Bush-Cheney Iraq War (2003 -- ?), and Rupert Murdoch. 4S manifested in the years 1912, 1930, 1948, 1966, 1984, 2002 @12Sag (conjunct US natal ASC), and next in December 2020 @23Sag.

Another chart factor of Jason Chaffetz is natal Jupiter @24Can28 which conjoins

Procyon, star of short-lived opportunities. His Jupiter also conjoins US natal Mercury Rx with its mysterious Sabian Symbol of "A Man Wrapped in an Invisible Mantle of Power" (25Cancer) and of course Us Mercury opposes US Pluto (27Cap33). Astrological Jupiter wears many hats and among them are those of politicians and politics. That Mr. Chaffetz's Jupiter conjoins our national Mercury, planet of communications, planning, and news, is significant on several levels but here at Stars Over Washington it seems that Chaffetz on Capitol Hill intends to expand and broaden in the realms of Jupiter such as finances, the military (Jupiter the General), corporatism, religion--who knows what grand plans he has in mind to promote (another Jupiter word!) if given a chance to rise higher in the political stratosphere--but with a contrarian mindset (last I heard he favors keeping government shutdown "on the table" as a strategy to force his conservative convictions on others.)

After all, his natal Jupiter is in a waning (unconscious) trine with nebulous dreamer Neptune which hints at his links to religion (converting to Mormonism from Judaism as previously mentioned) and to harboring such grand plans and he may not always be forthcoming with natal Mercury in shady Pisces. Though it may not seem to be the case, Rep. Chaffetz is impressionable, sensitive, and may have an interest in mysticism. Adding to the complexity of his psyche is a sesqui-square between his Mercury in watery Pisces and Jupiter in watery Cancer with Pisces ruled by Jupiter (I favor Neptune as co-ruler or sub-ruler of Pisces but feel free to disagree.) His Mercury-Jupiter aspect denotes that his perceptions may not always be accurate or well informed and are subject to personal bias. A tendency to be led astray rather easily (Jupiter in Cancer) has probably played in to the relationship and money themes of his Pre-Natal Solar Eclipse (noted above) with self-protective Cancer being a sign of shrewdness in business.

1967 Infused by Uranus Conjunct Pluto in Virgo Vibes; Sun and Moon--Venus and Mars

Rep. Chaffetz was born in a year when the difficult Uranus-Pluto conjunction was still fresh in the Collective Mind with its rebellion-riot-protest-social-change imprint. That their cycle has recently reached a square phase supplies a background influence of a generational clash upon his actions and motivations but is beyond the scope of this post. Needless to say, he embodies the critical faculty inherent in the sign of Virgo quite well along with the pioneering spirit and audacious lust for power that an Aries Sun indicates (we know he simmers with a 'lust for power' because he's a politician operating on Capitol Hill--with Mars in brooding Scorpio!)

That natal Moon is in Airy Libra spotlights the Aries-Libra axis and thus the importance of relationships and alliances in his life. A quarreling nature is indicated but is softened by his Venus-NN conjunction in Venus-ruled Taurus, lover of luxury and possessions. Venus in Taurus lends support to his conservatism and deeply felt emotions; North Node in Taurus (7 degrees--Venus in karmic degree) adds a flavor of striving for advancement with the help of others and provides beneficial support in his alliances and partnerships; attractive contacts with the public is also indicated by Venus-NN though his wide Mars-SN conjunction adds the complexity of a maverick nature.

In addition there's a Mercury-Venus sextile that adds charm and popularity but does not rule out a contrary manner. This sextile denotes an ability to work with others and an urge to challenge complacent people; debate easily turns into bickering though a talent for presenting ideas convincingly may be noticed, however, the ideas may actually come from others which hints at a tendency to plagiarize if he isn't careful. Cultural criticism is also a talent typical of an individual with a Mercury-Venus sextile (The Sextile, A. Epstein.)

As for priestly guru and healer Chiron @26Pis16, a trine to religious Jupiter pegs Chaffetz as "the Seeker who aims to transform the socio-cultural environment in some way, given the opportunity--and it usually is given." (Chiron, Richard Nolle.) Curiously, Chaffetz adopted Mormonism and a Jupiter-Chiron trine is found in the natal horoscope of Brigham Young and this aspect echos some of the reformist traits mentioned here. He may even consider past church figure Brigham Young as one of his mentors (Chiron in Pisces.)

Politics and a Double Quindecile: Uranus, Pluto, and Natal Sun

Now there are two one more chart factors you may find interesting about Jason Chaffetz. One involves his natal Sun (adult self; hero's journey; ego) and the purveyor of power, manipulation, powerful perspectives, propaganda, and wealth--Pluto. Chaffetz has a Sun-Pluto quindecile (165 degrees; 5Aries to 18Virgo54 Rx), an aspect of obsession and compulsion (Reeves.) (Quindeciles resonate with the unconscious indications already mentioned.)

A Sun-Pluto quindecile denotes one who uses intense drive to gain power and control (against the karmic imperative of his 4S PE in Scorpio!) Focusing on success and prominence, Mr. Chaffetz can be ruthless, manipulative, and intimidating (though I don't think Cecile Richards fell for his rude questioning as he tried to intimidate her into playing the scapegoat for his party's political purposes.) Purging is a theme of this aspect via purifying Pluto though ideally Chaffetz must work on himself before he attempts such tactics with others. Time will tell whether his own cupboards are spotless enough for him to act as a stern judge of others. However, we must remember that his Sun-Pluto quindecile echos that of the USA (July 4, 1776: 13Cancer to 27Capricorn.)

*A personal political note: I assume that most readers consider me to be a Democrat even if unofficially. Yet as an Independent, I've been known to vote Republican a time or two through the years of slim pickins'. Yes, I lean toward progressive Democrats and it is my considered opinion that the Democratic Party made a huge mistake decades ago by fully embracing Roe vs Wade and a "woman's right to choose"---not because a woman shouldn't be able to choose what to do about her pregnancy but because politicians and SCOTUS judges do not belong in the examining room.

As is often said, Conscience cannot be legislated for personal morality is involved. And on the question of abortions I think medical justifications are for a woman, her doctor, her partner (if there is one), and her conscience to decide. Yet for me, abortion used as birth control is quite another matter in a legal sense though I have no idea how 'policing' them could be accomplished though with politicians in the mix, I'm pretty certain such efforts would include the injustice and corruption within the US Court System.

So what do American geniuses do instead of directly addressing such a difficult legal issue? Invent go-for-it chemicals like viagra, force austerity measures upon the public which don't provide the needed care for the children who are already born, and limit women's healthcare availability and the very contraception methods that would prevent unwanted pregnancies! Often men keeping their pants zipped would help conditions immensely but as a class, many men tend to think of abortion as only a woman's problem, don't they? Yet often it began as a zipper problem!

So you see, it's the meddling irrationality of politicians and their anti-societal backers that keeps me from posting on the abortion and contraception issues in our society and not for lack of concern. After all, I have to protect my sanity on some level while I write about the pathological politicians who infest America and work 24/7 to ruin my old stomping ground, the beautiful city of Washington DC. jc
